[Q] Strange SMS message - Desire Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi guys,
my father-in-law has a rather strange problem on his Desire: every few minutes he gets notified of an incoming SMS message:

"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
The phone number is rather strange and when he clicks OK, no actual SMS message is in his SMS inbox. He's receiving on of those on average every 3 or 4 minutes, so to say that this is "annoying" is a big understatement.
Does anyone have an idea where those messages come from?
Thanks for your help; it's appreciated.

No idea where the messages come from but sounds line spam - search for 'SMS blocker' in the market and take your pick!

hey im quite new at writing postn and sutff, so hopefully someone will read this.
i was wondering if there was someone who could make a friendly interface for
www.smsfun.com.au
its a site that lets you send entirely free sms, (with a limit, which replenishes each day).
currently i have to load the entire bulky page in opera mobile, then sing in and switch to the sms page.
would someone be able to make an app to make it more like writing a normal sms and display the remaining credits left.
ive drawn a dodgy paint example of what i mean.

I always fin annoying after ending a call go back to call log, well thats not a issue anymore with this app wich lets you customize what you wanna do after ending a call.
It works with both incoming and outcoming calls.
On Call End : https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.brosix.callend&hl=es
Free on the market, grab it its really a handy app
Options
Handy. It is indeed irritating when it keeps returning to the tab that I need the least. Thank goodness CM7 lets me choose the default tab and what to return to after a call!

Receiving Chinese blocks of texts in the Messaging app on a Nexus 5X

My wife is getting some weird text messages as replies in middle of conversations with her friends. The messages are blocks of Chinese characters. She gets these in the stock messaging app from friends that use Samsung phones and iPhones. She is using a Nexus 5X on AT&T.
Here is a screencap from today from an iPhone user:

"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
Translating the text does not make sense (though I did image translation):
Here is one from a Samsung phone:
And from their end:
Does anyone know why this is happening? Is it some weird thing when someone with a weird texting app replies with some emoji/gif/image?

A question about a messaging issue

I'm positive this is an easy issue to fix but I can' t find the way to phrase my search to get relevant results so I have to ask here. When I send or receive SMS messages, they have a strange string of characters attached to the end, ~xxxxxxxxxx. I'll attach a screenshot here, you can see it at the bottom of the image. How do I turn that off, I've received a few complaints about it already?

"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",

"lightbox_full_screen": "Full screen",
"lightbox_thumbnails": "Thumbnails",
"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
Just to provide an update in case anyone experiences the same issue. It resolved itself, without any action of my own, at least none that I am aware of. The phone now sends and receives texts normally, without attaching strings of characters like in the screenshot.
