[Q] MT15a X MT15i? - Xperia Arc Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello,
Does anybody know the difference between the Xperia Neo MT15a and the MT15i? I can't find the this information anywhere...
Thanks in advance.

Hey..
I guess it should be the same difference as Lt15i and Lt15a for Arc..
Different UMTS (3G) network bands.. And released in different parts of the world accordingly..
You can check this out in the SE tech specs i think ..
The firmware is more or less the same i think ..

There is a Neo forum.

As far as i know for Arc firmware for both Lt15i and Lt15a have support for each others basebands firmware wise.. So if this holds true for Neo then yeah you can flash the others firmware..

firmware doesnt affect hardware.
so if lets say you have an oem MT15i phone on a MT15i network, even if you flash MT15a firmware, your phone will remain MT15i on an MT15i network.

My Neo originally is MT15a, but I've flashed it with MT15i. Now it reports himself in the "About phone" as MT15i and 3G bands . Everything works just fine. 3G band here is 2100 - both MT15a and MT15i have it so I don't know whether it works with other 3G bands of MT15i or MT15a

Thanks guys! I was really afraid I could brick my device doing it.

[Q] Arc or Arc S?

I'm back to SE after three years of "HTCing", and already have a problem. I've bougt second-hand SE Arc (?), the box says that it's LT15i (Arc), but the phone info says that it's LT18i (Arc S). How can I know what do I have?

It's probably just the Arc that has had a Arc S ROM flashed to it.
It really doesn't matter Arc/Arc S are practically the same, if you have rooted phone you can edit the build.prob and change what model the phone is if you like

Yup, but it does matter when you flash baseband.

As far as i know Arc S should have a 1.4GHz procesor, when ARC has 1.0Ghz. But this is true with their official Rom`s, and it could be just a software limitation for ARC (back when i was having Gingerbread i have read a discussion where it was saying just that (that the CPU for ARC is software limited to 1 GHz).
So i believe that the only difference is that ARC is black (midnight Blue or something like that) and ARC S is white/silver.
About changing the model inside software is very easy, If rooted you can access the internal memory with a browser like Root browser and modify text inside file "/system/build.prop" from LT15i to LT18i on every line you encounter ... actually you can type anything you want there
P.S. (baseband) : Actualy it does not matter that much, at least with the .ftf`s you find here. The CDMA Cip is the same in both phones and it work no matter what baseband you put in it (i have a LT15i and installed BB70 for ARC S and it worked perfectly, and including the developer who released those base-bands answered that it does not matter, when i asked for BB for LT15i)

Arc: midnight blue and silver
Arc S: midnight blue, silver, black, white and pink
I think arc / arc s is the same, just have a different processor. so it will be difficult to distinguish

I heard that arc will not be getting jelly bean! I do.believe that all phone company's will not give more then 3 updates per model! Stop and think if they did no-one would buy new phones! That's my theory I could be wrong ? And in just not saying Sony, I'm saying Samsung,HTC, also

Whatever that thing is, chage the prop file and make it an LT18i. and then just overlcock the hell out of it.

[Q] Are there any major differences between an R800a and R800i?

I'm using AT&T (USA)... my phone upgrade is here, but I'm waiting to use that on the Xperia Z... so I figured in the meantime I want to sell my black Xperia Play and get a white one.
I'd like to stick to R800a just out of having so many great experiences with it, but the only white one I can find that doesn't cost an arm and a leg is an R800i.
Will any complication arise in trying to flash THIS ROM to it? Any spec differences?

You can flash R800i stock firmware (ftf) on the R800a if you want. Other than that no. The bands will still be different even flashing R800i ftf. No 3g on R800a or R800i only edge.

I'm not completely sure what you're saying about that last statement. I have an R800a now and definitely do have 3G. Does that mean that I'll get it with the R800i as well?

No the R800i will not get 3G in America whatsoever. It only support HSPA 900/2100.
Well you could just buy the white housing for your play

Well I believe that the r800i is for Europe so flashing it on a r800a will cause loss of Service

How's the support?

Hi, I'm currently using Lg g2x as my daily phone and I'm thinking of changing my phone to xperia ion or htc one s.
My g2x lacks driver support and it is near impossible for me to get an ICS/JB update...
I skimmed through threads and it seems like Wind mobile's Xperia Ion can't get custom roms?
can somebody confirm that for me please? thank you
and how are the support from sony and developers for this phone?
thank you
Odp: How's the support?
If you want custom roms you should buy Xperia S. There is a lot of roms and mods for this great phone.

Xperia S is a good phone (performance) but just read around this phone's section for some bricking incidents. It has been happening without any particular cause to many users. Some manage to recover after looong time (maybe even a week) and some unfortunate guys like me are stuck with a dead brick. Sony claims that I had a hard brick (needs motherboard replacement) but I had done nothing except wiping data in CWM. I don't think that you should buy this phone at all. Just go for any other phone.
Well if you plan to buy Xperia ion,buy either LT28i or LT28h that have bootloader unlock allowed : Yes
And then install your fav custom Rom and kernel

[Q] will this phone work in nz

Hey guys, just wondering if this phone will work in New Zealand on 2Degrees(Vodafone)? Looking to buy it from eBay as it's like $200 cheaper than the shops here.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/DOCOMO-Sony...1099599778?pt=Cell_Phones&hash=item1c32193fa2
Specifically that one ^^, they mention something about DoCoMo and making sure it will work in your country before buying....
You guys are always awesome, thanks for any help you can provide, my wife would be very happy with me if she got this and could finally replace her HTC Tattoo!.
It's already Unlocked Bootloader, isn't it ?? If yes, you won't have bravia engine

I just wanted to know if this phone will work on Vodafone in NZ, am I correct in understanding that if the carrier is unlocked, then it will work on any network?
Not sure why you are mentioning the bootloader and bravia engine....
I'm Currently using an XSL in New Zealand on Vodafone perfectly fine See of no reason why the Acro would be any different.

No speed dialing on JB 4.2.2

i saw that xperia Z had the speed dialing option on dialer on.307 firmware and heard that it will be available for ZL also but i dont have the option on my ZL even after updating to JB 4.2.2 stock. Please anyone clear on this matter...if anyone has that option please let me know.
No man there is no speed dial on this update. I guess this is related to region... I've never had it at all. But you can have it on the small app of the dialer. And you can try also EX DIALER from Google Play bro...

I have speed dial on .253 firmware, android 4.1.2, C6503 model - cannot say for 4.2.2 as I'm not letting it anywhere near my currently fully functioning zl as I have never had it (4.2.2) work properly on any device

Only my opinion, if you stay on stock firmware there is nothing wrong with 4.2.2. My XZL 6503 works just the same as with 4.1.2, no problems and bugs at all. Everything that worked in 4.1.2 works also in 4.2.2.
But it is really interesting that ZL 6502 Indian doesn't have speed dial option. I thought only differences between 6502/6503/6506 are different network frequencies/bands
