microSDHC-I Mobile Ultra 32GB for Xperia PLAY, How Good? - Xperia Play Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Anyone tried this already?
Guys do you think this is good for our Xperia PLAYs?
http://www.sandisk.com/products/mobile1-memory-products/ultra-microsdhc-memory-card
this is SandDisk microSDHC-I Mobile Ultra 32GB. what do you think guys? this card is revolutionary.. i'm really interested and quite ready to shell out $130 for this, i just need some confirmation and testimonials..
if it's no good, then I'll stick to the regular SanDisk microSDHC 32GB Class 2 to save some juice for some games..

A Sandisk Class 4 32GB card is available on Amazon for around $50 which will likely give you all the performance you need from the phone. I just don't see how this card could give you $70 worth of performance benefit (for the price difference).

Well call me a sucker for new things , Im using a sandisk class4 32gb right now, Im gonna buy one of these 32gb mobile ultra ones. Ill post back on how it runs compared to what I have now.

No you said "Guys do you think this is good for our Xperia PLAYs?"
Its called Cost/benefit analysis. You're going to spend a $70 difference to possibly speed up the loading times of a bunch of $5 or less games on a phone you possibly got for free. If you've used a Class 4 you'd know the loading times are more than acceptable and there is no lag.
So save the I was just trying to be helpful. So much for that.

why does it have to be a big deal? darn it it was just a freakin smiley
and i was just asking, just mere "getting-testimonials-and-opinions" and not some sarcastic accounting/checks-and-balances comments.. besides my question wasn't confined to only asking if people have already tested it, or it is economically effective and all, but also on the card's performance IF ANY user here has tried it already. well thanks for your first comment, but apart form that i don't want to hear any more cost/benefit blah blah from you. i have money, so i was just asking performance-wise mostly.
PS: "on a phone you possibly got for free"? big no.. it's factory unlocked at 5,000HKD shelled straight out from my wallet

All I was saying was I can't imagine it to be that much faster to justify the price difference, based on the performance I have seen. It would be great if it was this thing that was just so much faster that it made a huge difference, but my feeling is who knows if the system bus even handles the excess speed it claims. I am interested to see as well if it works, but I am skeptical. Its your money, do what you want with it. That is all.

I would also like to know if this card is a good deal, need a new 32gig card for my tablet.

@Rogue end of story then..
@HankKing keep hanging around, we'll wait for updates..

Bought one of these for $30 with free shipping.

I had a 32gb Sandisk class 4. This is still a great price....

32gb MicroSD for 80 bucks on Amazon...

So I got ripped off on ebay. Sending back a fake card tomorrow. I am pissed at myself for thinking somehow I could buy a 32gb microSD card for under 50 bucks... and now I am worried I am being an idiot but meh.
I ordered this:
http://www.amazon.com/Centon-Micro-Class-Memory-32GBRSDHC4/dp/tech-data/B003UYU1U2/ref=de_a_smtd
Which for only 77.30 worries me, but I bought it from Amazon so I can always return it to them no big deal, and they have a legit looking website (albeit anyone who knows how to use the internet could have whipped it up in a few days) here:
http://www.centon.com/pn/flashmemorycards/microsd-sdhc/32gbrsdhc4
So I am going for it... Anyone else ever tried any of their products, or maybe even this card specifically? Sadly it is on back order, I have the feeling I will be waiting weeks for it, but since I am pretty much giving away one of my 2 ipods (my 30gb video, not gonna give up my 32gb touch any time soon, but I got it for free ) I would like to be able to carry around all my music, as well as my apps, and a few psx roms... so a 16gb card just wouldn't really cut it... I'll report back when I get it... I am crossing my fingers for a month or less... hopefully they don't just cancel my order saying they are POS cards because as long as it works I will pay half price for 32 gigs myself... otherwise I have to hate myself and spend the 180ish on a legit one... sigh...
PS I did see that their speed generally sucks, at least the cards they sell as class 6, but I am mostly just going to use it for mp3s and junk, so I am not overly worried by it. Def don't see myself needing to write to it anytime soon... Although I just noticed the card I am used to using is a class 6, but I never paid attention to speeds on it any way so hopefully I am not disappointed...
These are out of stock atm, but let me know what kind read / write speeds you get once you get your card an start using it

[Q] What brand of memory card (microSDHC) do you go for?

Because choosing is hard
I wanted to go, by popular recommendation, for a Sandisk but they are simply limited or very very VERY expensive for their preformance-price ratio. So what memory card brand do you go for?
If Im missing any important ones, please post them
Thanks Rifle although a "Why" would have been nice
I'd say SanDisk, they may be more expensive for the class of card but generaly a x2 card from them will reach x6 speeds, So if you want the fastest go Sandisk

Thanks for the reasoning
Most arent going to like this but I went to a Lexar 32GB Class 10 because I got a deal...
Thanks for all the help
The write speed is impressive (11.6 MB) but suffered at the beginning. Well, I was warned so I cant say anything about it.
Thanks once more for everyone help, advice and facts. You learn something everyday.
I only use SanDisk. They have some of the better read and write speeds and life span is better than most.
Once I bought an inferior SD card and lost all of my files. I could not get them back even with a file recovery program.
usin sandisk n kingston n patriot. nothin wrong so far so ill go with those 3.
Well I have not much idea which to go for, but I can say which one NOT to go for..
Kingmax
personal experience, it makes ext A2SD apps keep FC-ing because it's easy to corrupt.

You should test the access speed and random read and write speeds if you can... I was curious about that card, cause lexar used to be a quality brand. Use CrystalDiskMark and HD Tach to get a good all around rating of the different speeds. CrystalDiskMark will give you the seqential read and write, and the random read and write with different size data, while HD Tach will give you the access time in microseconds, which is a score I've never seen any other benchmark tests do. A combo of those 2 test apps will give a good idea of the performance of your card in the areas that really matter when using with a phone. PM me if you need copies of the apps.
If you don't mind me asking, what kind of deal did you get on that card?
If you or anyone else ever has questions regarding sd cards, feel free to ask me. I'd be glad to help out. I've been researching them now for several months and have learned quite a bit. I've found that there is so much misinformation out there, and the card manufacturers just make it worse.
And there's more realistic counterfeit cards out there than ever... even reputable sources can get them easily. The way the factories and manufacturing process works allows many opportunities for defective or low end cards to make it to market, which technically are genuine and have the gb size they're suppose to, but they underperform compared to what they're suppose to. I bet 25% of card owners out there have chips in their cards that were suppose to be discarded or have cards that don't perform as well as they're suppose to, but don't even realize that they're card is not completely legitimate. Even the manufacturers can't tell the difference from some counterfeits and the real ones without extensive testing and opening up the card to inspect the chips.
There's a bigger market for counterfeit than I think anyone realizes. That;s why if the deal seems too good, it probably is. Even through amazon you can get counterfeits or bottom of the barrel. I bet over 99% of ebay sellers sell counterfeit/low grade cards, even if they have 100% good feedback, cause they're good enough to pass as genuine, but you won't get the best performance from them that you could with a real. That's why I never buy from ebay and never buy bulk packaging cards in most cases, unless there is documentation and proof and full part numbers.
Also, to OP and anyone else this interests... I meant to respond earlier..you had told me in other thread that the ebay seller sent you a part number for that cheap sandisk. A sandisk card with part number SDSDQ-032G is not a full part number... all sandisk 32gb start with that number, and with bulk packaged ones they will say thats the part number... but its missing the important 4 extra digits at the end which all produced cards should have, like A11M or B36A, etc. If I can't find out the full part number, I wouldn't buy it in bulk packaging like that, because thats one of the times that low grade or counterfeit cards can be sold to retailers as legitimate, when they may not be. Even on Amazon, these bulk packaging sandisk cards oare sold with the part number sdsdq-032g, but without rest of the part number which is actually the meaningful part. Well, a few people who bought those from amazon found that they had gotten counterfeit. 1 of them even ended up being on 4GB but was reprogrammed to say 32gb in any computer.
So now a days, when purchasing an expensive SD card, take your time and be careful where you but from. Spend the extra to make sure you get quality, legitimate cards... it's worth it as a legitimate card will perform better and last longer. A low-grade one that didn't pass quality control which end up being sold by people anyways or cards that are smaller but reprogrammed to look bigger and real may work fine for a while, but will probably break quicker or performance will not be what it's suppose to be and may get much worse over time and when it's filled with more data, and it'll probably cost you more in the long run. Also, especially if you have important data on you card, you don't want to risk damaging, corrupting, or completely losing it.
Remember, if it's a much cheaper price than any other store like newegg or provantage sell them for, you have to wonder how they can sell so much cheaper, considering places like newegg or provantage buy directly from sandisk and probably get better prices than less well-known sellers would. The smaller shops and ebay sellers that sell really cheap buy bulk packaging cards which usually will be the cards that couldn't pass quality control to be sold in sandisk retail packs, or could be a mixture of many different sources, some possible being completely fake, or make by factory workers with chips that were suppose to be destroyed, or cards stolen from factory by workers, etc.
Most counterfeits are actually made in the production factories by workers making extra cash on the side, so they may be exactly like a real one except the chips happened to be lower quality and didn't pass quality control. Sometimes some manufacturers themselves will even sell the bottom of the barrel cards in bulk for real cheap instead of destroying them. There really isn't much profit made with these cards, so to compete with other companies like sandisk, who own their own factories, and keep prices low, they will cut corners and sell cards that are lower quality than they should be. There's a blog out there that found Kingston doing this.
Well, even info for now.... I have so much info and things I've learned the last few months about the memory card market and production practices, I could go on for pages, but I do think most of you really care to know all this.
I'm just trying to help my fellow xda brothers to make sure they get what is best for them and not get cheated. It's easy for a seller to make himself look legit and satisfy average consumers, but I know most here at XDA want the best for their money and their devices.
Sorry to go so off-topic... I should actually start a new thread to organize and put all this info so more people will see it and benefit. I can also put test results showing the important ratings of the different cards, like random read and write, and access speeds. Class ratings are so misleading and people who know no better will pay too much attention to class ratings when looking for cards for their phones. Class was good for digital cameras, cause it only rates SEQUENTIAL write speed, when with phones, random speeds is much more important, and for some uses, access speed is most important.
Class rating is so deceptive, and should be gotten rid of, and should at least have strict guidelines and have other ratings added. A class 2 Sandisk has faster sequential write speeds than most class 6 Kingston, PQI, A-Data, and many other brands.
I think I'm going to start working on a thread to give the straight truth about memory cards and give real ratings of the different brands, showing not only sequential speeds, but also random speeds and access times. It'll be my contribution to this great community, and will help many people when trying to find a good card for their needs... and and hopefully make people realize that higher class does not mean better card in most cases. With smartphones, generally higher class cards perform worse than lower class cards.... but what you're using it for and whet brand card it is makes a big difference there.
Anyone out there with different sd cards willing to help out by benchmarking if I decide to make this thread? It's be a few weeks before I'll have the time to really set a detailed thread like this, but I think it would help a lot of people and help make xda members more informed and dispel a lot of myths about sd cards.

well,SanDisk, but can't say i've tried many more. This is what i mostly find in shops from my country. In conclusion i am not disappointed in any way
I bought from Aliexpress. Mine's a 32GB microsd card, and it cost me $12 shipped directly from CHINA. Well, the write is about 4MBPS, and Im happy with that. I just wanted to able to play 720p videos on my Mytouch, and it works perfect for that. It hasnt led me down yet.
BTW get the SD BOOSTER from the market, some xda dev created it and it boosts your random access write/read speeds. So I have that set on boot.
You can't go wrong with SanDisk.
I don't really care about brands on this. I recently got a new SanDisk MicroSD, but I only chose them because it was the cheapest 32GB I could find. Works great though.
EDIT: Just checked - My old 2GB is a Sandisk, and i have a 2GB full-sized SD from Optima in my point and shoot camera. I also think I have a 256MB Sandisk floating around here somewhere
But, all in all, none have been anything but great.
We are using Kingston micro SD card 32gig, if that helps there are some cheap ones around too like eBay, Amazon etc....
Also Kingston are now doing class 4 and 10 now on there 32gig

I've had nothing but bad experiences from kingston. They don't produce their own chips, so the only way they can compete pricewise is to buy bottom of barrel, cheap chips from manufacturers like sandisk. Kingston gets the chips that aren't good enough to pass sandisk or other manufacturers quality control.
I had their class 4 32GB microsd card and it was 3 times slower than sandisks class 2 32GB cards.
i have not had any problems with ours, so maybe you have had some bad one
Patriot 32Gb Class 4. Got it at fry's for $59.00
I really have not run any speed tests but apps running from SD seem to work fine.
I've had excellent results with A-Data. 16gb class 6 card.

[Q] UK Not receiving 32GB version?

I was a little disheartened to read that UK will not be receiving the 32GB version http://blog.clove.co.uk/2011/10/19/...16gb-available-to-pre-order-at-clove-429-vat/
Wasn't sure if I was going to spring for it, but would still have liked the option. What does the UK contingent in here think of this?
BANE
Slightly irritated if that's true. The 32GB model would be my choice especially since again they will decline to let us use sd cards.
To be honest I'd love to know googles official response on this one.
Sent from my Nexus S using XDA App
At first I was a bit annoyed but I've still got 7gb free on my Nexus S and doubt if I will need 32gb anyway. It would have been nice to have the option though (assuming the statement from Clove is acccurate). If I used my phone as my main music player, 16gb just wouldn't be enough. Yes we have cloud services, but these are useless unless you have an unlimited data plan and decent network coverage.
Sent from my Nexus S using XDA App
Yes, an official google response would be good here. At the moment I have a nexus 1. I have a 16gb micro sd and the 512 internal. I'm not even nearly full. I too don't use my phone for music and don't really store much video, however I'm thinking in circumstances where I may WANT to take 1080P video, 32 GB may be a better option.
If there isn't a 32GB uk version I guess we'll have to look for European orders?
BANE
Haven't read the details yet but certainly would have liked to have the option to do the cost vs MB choice.
Saying that I'm still very interested to know when and how much for the base 16 MB version.
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
Clove is quoting £515 sim free for the 16gb version.
Isn't this quite common with Samsung devices for the UK not to get the larger capacity versions? Happened with the original GS & now again with the GS2.
I would expect enough uk demand would change Samsung's or googles mind if its true naturally!
Sent from my Nexus S using XDA App
Interesting. I really have no need for the 32GB version either, but unless it's significantly more, I was planning on going that route as well simply because of 1080p video recording and the way that apps are getting larger and larger. I don't plan on really doing a lot with those kinds of things, but it's nice to have the option.
On my SGS, my internal SD is 1.85GB with 1.37GB available and the SD Card formats to 12.78GB with 3.47GB currently free. It's mostly full of stuff I really, really don't need on there like a couple dozen different CM7 Nightlies, Nandroids and several flashable zips of various Froyo Roms/random stuff. I could easily free it up to 7GB's without touching my music and pics, I just haven't cleaned it out in a long while.
But why no option for the UK? Where is the logic when normally higher capacity models are priced well in excess of the additional cost of the memory? Any other countries being so treated?
Not that I have come across as of yet. I guess as we move into November we'll have more information.
Samsung! Bring the 32GB Galaxy Nexus to the UK!!!
sadly i use a 16gb card to the max in my Desire .....
was really looking forward to the Nexus release but to be honest if im permanently going to be limited to 16gb then it counts me out
Will be looking at other 'coming soon' phones as im up for renewal in December or fall back on a GS2 .....
Don't bother me, though I have complained about the lack of a memory card slot, I never really keep a lot on my phone and tend to offload larger items such as videos in fairly quick order.
I was on the fence on this device, and this kind of decides for me. I'll wait until the first batch of HTC or Motorola Ice Cream Sandwich devices.
Sigh.
I will lie to myself and pretend I didn't want the screen anyway.
This has really blown me away, I can't see the resoning behind this. What a kick in the teeth, 16GB is not nearly enough. The lack of sd-card is a big pet hate of mine but to hear that only the 16GB will be available, that's the end of me getting this phone.
I'll be so upset if a 32gb version doesnt come out! I use my phone alot for music.
My current music folder takes up 10gb. On a 16gb device i'd only have about 2-3gb free left to use.

They're only accepting preorders for the 16GB version though and under the product Q&A it says: "No dates yet on this handset. Please see 16GB version for now."
So not exactly promising
16GB is a deal breaker for me too, it just isn't enough for me without an sdcard slot.

[Q] 16GB or 32GB

After ATT has screwed me (took away my $10/mo media net unlimited data for my iphone4), I've decided to switch to Sprint and switch to the GS3, since who knows when the iphone5 will be jailbroken. Plus I really want to play with Android. That said, Amazon Wireless has the 16gb version for $0.01 and the 32gb version for $49.99. So, is double the amount of space worth $50? I have 100gb google drive thanks to a Chromebook so I doubt I'll have any real issues.
Also, are there any issues that would discourage getting a 32gb model (e.g. Certain awesome custom roms only work on 16gb version, etc.)?
Thanks.

I haven't heard of any issues with the 32gb. I have a 16GB with a 16gb sd card. No issues.. I don't keep alot on my phone either way.. You'll love the S3 tho.As for roms, Search a little,, read a few post.. You'll find a good fit for you! Most of all, welcome to the family!
If I had a choice I would get the 32 gb version, I'm a storage space junkie. The 16 gb is more widespread so I see more development related to that. It does have a card slot and 64 gb cards work in it. I have only had this phone for about a month and have only run the stock rooted rom, so I'm not sure if the size difference matters with roms or not. I'm sure someone else will chime in here and help though. Welcome aboard!
32 for sure.

Are the 16 and 32 so different that they are developed separately?
Also, OP, I and many others paid $50 for the 16GB about 3 weeks ago, which was a steal. I would drop $50 for a 32GB without thinking twice.

I don't think they are. Extra space is only difference.. And if i coulda got it i would have. I just don't need that much space tho lol.
I have the 16 gb with 32 sd card more than enough space .I got just about every gameloft game and still have room on my card plus the internal either way you go your still good because a 64 gig card is always an option.

Well then, I'll definitely spend the extra 50 on the 32 gig version for me. My mother and father are also on my plan, and they will each be getting a gs3, but the 16gb version. I probably won't put any custom roms on theirs, but I might just go ahead and root them so I can just email them .apk files of apps and they can install them.

Go ahead with the 32Go, do not choose 16 !
If you choose 16, you will only have 11 Go of free memory, which is very small ! Install a GPS software with multiple countries maps, and a big game like Real Racing 2, and you will then loose half of your free memory ... And if you want to install apps on the SD card, there will be no perfect solution to do this.
See my post here :

i would totally go with the 32gb for that price. i do admit i am a space junkie. but having the extra space is always convenient. i've tried blazer rom and it was quite good. i moved over to freegs3 only because i wanted to try it out and then became addicted to it. haha. good luck!
Spend the extra money. It's worth it. I'm close to maxing my memory out. It's only 50 bucks.

[Q] Galaxy Note 8 32GB

Any idea or news on when the 32 GB Note 8 is to be released in the US? Cannot find news anywhere even though they announced as if its being released as well.
I asked this question in the Samsung store in the UK to which I was told that they only intend in stocking the 16gb version in the short term as they deemed it the most cost effective option given that it has expandable memory with the microSD card slot.
I told them that this was of no use to me as I know how quickly I can fill 16bg with apps that cant be transferred to external storage...
I'd say this, rather than the screen resolution, is the weakest part of this and other tablets - a lot of manufacturers are still using 2011 vintage memory allocations on 2013 devices.
My workaround is at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2244428 but it's a compromise solution. It does deal with the issue of what's actually available to put my mitts on, but I realize I may well be unloading this tablet as early as August once the new Nexus is available.
The only compromise I have found so far is to wait . . . for Expansys-USA to get the 32GB WiFi & 32GB WIFi + 3G version in (links below) sadly they do not have an eta or pricing yet. These are realy 32GB devices as I did ask that question and not 16GB + 16GB microSD cards as some creative sellers are trying to pawn off.

What I find insulting from Samsung and these retailers is claiming the 16GB is even suitable when clearly its not with today's app sizes and how little storage you actually get 9.87GB. Samsung should be really focused on making a 32GB version more price competitive and taking Apple on with a 32GB + 64GB microSD slot capable 8" Tablet.
If a black or grey 32GB Galaxy Note 8.0 was available on launch, I would have purchased it.
It wasn't. I didn't.
More and more it looks like I will be going with the next Nexus 7 (hoping it is 7.7")

I would still favor the Note 8 32GB,
1. for the stylus
2. microSD
Galaxy S4 ?? or HTC ONE or Xperia Z is still a big question....

I don't get why Samsung keeps jerking the US market around with 16GB devices that have less than 10GB of actual space available. They know damn well you can't put apps on the SD cards anymore and yet they continue to act like this is 2010 with the memory. Memory is cheap, its so cheap and they could charge $50 more for 32GB or just sell a 32GB version and sell more, more, more. I am watching Expansys-USA for the 32GB GN 8.0 but honestly I wonder IF they will actually get them.

thats because they are not trying to sell us (customers) a good product, but to drive out apples market share. The Note 8.0 is priced and featured very close to the iPad mini, with just a slight edge, so that they can make the most of it. FYI look in other markets its the same...
I hope they come out of this and start developing products for the customers (like apple does) and take the lead...
After watching most of the the Steve Jobs Interviews and talks, one statement he made stands out to me...
"we make devices which we can give to our friends and family" that sentence itself has a lot of deep meaning... hopefully someone will
understand it and get on with it...

I doubt if we ever see a 32gb version in the States, either WiFi only or 3G, unless it is a Verizon- or carrier-branded model so they can fill it up with more bloat, LOL.
I waited forever for a 32GB version of the Int'l N7100 Note II, and even though it was stated in the original product announcement, AFAIK it was never released. Does anybody here actually have one???
Korea's sole version is a 64GB LTE model, but those bands don't work in the U.S. or any other market that I know of. Every "32GB" version of the Note II that I could find ended up being the "16GB + 16GB mSD" from shifty sellers.
And what do you think Samsung's actual cost is for an extra 16GB (a 32GB chip)? 50¢? Certainly no more than $5.
This is really a pet peeve of mine with Samsung. I keep hoping that they will emulate Apple with their product announcements. With Apple, at least you know straight away at the product announcement/keynotes EXACTLY what models will be released including the COST, and WHEN, and WHERE.
ARE YOU LISTENING, SAMSUNG? I really don't want to buy any more Apple products, but HONESTLY, would you blame me?

I bought 16gb version last Saturday but yesterday found some stuck pixels. Didn't hesitate to call Samsung after sales support and they asked to take it back and in fact nobody cared to check too much if my claims were right. Odin counter had some marks also and the device was not running the original stock FW. Took my money back and now will get 32gb version later this week hopefully

All things are pointing towards a Note 8 in 32gb form not ever being released. Even countries that are advertising the 32gb, don't really mention how much it costs or if it's truly available. I really wish they would've released a 32, as I would've paid the difference to get the higher memory version.
I ended up purchasing a Note 8 yesterday. I had been holding out, but couldn't stand waiting any longer. First one I bought was an open box and had dead pixels and light leak. I paid the difference and just got a new one today. So far so good, but we'll see if no light leak holds true through my 15 day return period.

I really hope that isnt the case. I've been following this device for a few months now. It was meant to be me one device to rule them all! With out the ability to store more than a few games though I will still have to take a seperate gaming device for my entertainment, at which point I ask, what it the point of me forking out the extra money? Its already a premium device (vs the NEXUS at least anyway) why would they not want to make it the best it could be with a minor addition of extra storage?
If I'm going to have to carry more than one device, I might as well just get a cheap gaming tablet that will cover most of my other requirements as well and a paper notepad. Far cheaper, and i wont have to worry about the battery life running out for the notes that I need to take.
I really want the 32GB though and will import one from anywhere in the world if I find somewhere that is stocking it.

Believe me, I'd been holding out also. If they do end up offering the 32, that means my current Note 8 goes on sale...lol.
Posted from my G-Note II.

I also had my heart set on the 32gb... but as I've been obsessively following this device since the first rumour images were leaked... I just couldn't handle waiting any longer.
I ended up getting the 3G model, and then spent a considerable sum of money on a SanDisk UHS Ultra class10 64gb MicroSD card... which I then followed this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2276193
to make my device believe the MicroSD was infact my internal memory - allowing me to install apps + games to my hearts content.
So while I bought a GNote 16GB 3G + MicroSD slot.
I now have:
A GNote 64GB 3G + Spare 9.87GB storage partition (instead of an available MicroSD slot).
If you are concerned about the loss of use of the MicroSD slot, then simply get a yourself a Micro-USB OTG to USB adaptor like this one: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B005FUNYSA/ref=ox_sc_sfl_title_8?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=AMRKIIKW22PW7
which you will then be able to plug in any usb peripheral, from flash drives, ext. Hard Drives, to usb card readers.

I dont think I will go full blown MicroDS slot use as my internal memory as I like to use MicroSD on many of my devices too much and dont want to lose the ability to be able to pop it out and stick another one in with out having to carry additional peripherals with me. I like to take photographs and shoot in RAW (not that that really makes any difference). While using a cameras screen for previews is OK, id like to be able to pop my micrSD card into my tablet to get a better view of my photos and help me cull the missed shots while im out and about rather than wait until I get home. When shooting at 10 frames per second, you end up with alot of unwanted shots, but its worth it to get that one perfect one!
I've commented and started various threads about the 32GB availability and options for expanding the 16gb memory and think that my solition will be to use FolderMount to move all the data files to the external SD while still keeping the apk files on the internal device.
http://geeknizer.com/link-map-move-internal-sdcard-app-folders-to-external/
That should solve my problem of available space for apps and still allow me to use multiple sd cards (when not using the apps that have their data files on the microSD).
I will try FolderMount on my Transformer over the next few days to see if it does what I hope before going to the Samsung store in Stratford this weekend to pick up my Note (providing I have the funds to do so by then).

Tried FolderMount. It wouldnt work
My TF101 is rooted with TEAMEOS4 ROM and KAT Kernel. I get an error message of Illegal Instruction when I try to select a folder.
Hope that wont be the case on the Note 8.0
Sorry to hear that for your sake.
Perhaps start another thread focusing on FolderMount... See if anyone here has given it a go.

Just for your interests sake, seeing as you want to make comics... I found this app last night and had a bit of a play with it. It's actually pretty good. My only wish is there were a few more panel templates... but for getting started, it's probably the easiest and fastest way to compose and format your comics.
You *will* have to generate the panel graphics yourself in another program, but once youve done that, it's a piece of pie adding speach/thought balloons and composing your graphics the way you want.

Thanks and Thanks.
Found a thread in a different forum that I added to about FolderMount and raised the issue in the TEAMEOS Rom thread as well.
That app looks interesting. Seemed to think there was something like that that came with the note as standard. At least it was on the demo unit I played with at the Samsung store...
Simple. Marketing extortion.
Really, you'll see all the vendors playing the same games with minimum memory onboard these days. Memory is after all cheap, so why not offer higher memory versions? Well, it starts with the cellular providers and their marketing plans. The cellular providers, like AT&T and Verizon, will not order or sell any devices with gobs of memory on them. Even if they are available on the global market, the US carriers won't offer them at all.
This is simply clever marketing (or marketing extortion, depending on your point of view) which is designed to force the customer into using "the cloud" for memory and storage. And that benefits the carriers because they charge by the byyte for the data you have to transmit. Clever, isn't it? So they refuse to order the devices with larger memory, and they discourage the vendors from offering them at all. And set a discouraging premium price on the higher memory models because, after all, you can always buy the cheap one and use the cloud.
Ah, but the Note isn't a cellular device, it uses WiFi...So what? The policy is applied across all devices. After all, you wouldn't want customers to notice a difference in devices would you? And if the customer has to use more Wifi data transfer, guess what? More cable companies are looking to charge by usage, and all the carriers are trying to upsell higher speed data transfer. So again, lots of people make more money when they all quietly agree to sell devices with the least tolerable amount of memory.
Why should I need an iPod, when my phone or tablet could carry a hundred gigs of music? Oh, wait, because my carrier would rather charge me for the byte to keep that stored in the cloud, and charge me again every time I accessed it. This is the same logic they use when FM radios are disabled or removed from US versions of cell phones, that receive FM radio for free, instead of subscribing to internet radio in the US.
The big vendors aren't interest in what you want, unless it makes money for them. So if they can force you into spending more and getting less...Yeah, it really is that simple. a 64GB tablet could sell for $50 more than an 8GB tablet. But you'll be hard-pressed to find anyone bold enough to sell it that way.
