Last Forum Post - KIN Two Software Development

I recently logged on to my email and seen an email from Andrew Sahakauk (idk how to spell it)
This is what it said "Tyler the court here in Orlando wants you here on Sept 25 2011. If you are not here a warrant will be filed for your arrest. Microsoft wants 500 thousand dollars from you"
I got two identical emails from him on two separate emails. I know these are fake and I even sent him a message on Facebook. I left the group on Facebook as well. I know nothing is against me because 1: It was my idea for the webos, therefore I did NOT take any action to make it, The credit for the people who tried are well Andrew, Alex and whoever else was in development. So I'm out of the Kin Development. This is the last post I will make.
Nice working with you guys.
As for you Andrew if you're reading this, not cool

know what else isnt cool? You and your little games for attention, grow up before you play with the big boys.

Well............this sucks. Are we all doneZ?

Theft of Donations ???

Hi,
I've come across individuals who are selling the xda-unlock software on eBay, for personal profit I assume.
I think this is ethically wrong.
Is anyone on the xda-developers forum aware of this?
I am posting this message in the hope that those who agree that this activity of stealing from those developing the software, will e-mail the person (see below) to tell him that what he is doing is wrong and should stop immediately.
Noteyou may have to copy and paste the following hyper-links into your browser's address field for them to work)
See;
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=69929&item=5206235467
I tracked the perpetuator down and confronted him with this breach. His response was pretty much "Go away! I can do what I want" The sad thing is, the person has no idea about the software he's selling and is misleading people by telling them that one version (which he has) is suitable for all PDA's.
Here's his e-mail address.
[email protected] , with which he accpets Paypal payments on-line.
And this is his profile on eBay:
http://feedback.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewFeedback&userid=mrtrader888&iid=5206235467&frm=284
The odd, brave, eBay traders are complaining about this in the Feedback facility but the feedback system isn't perfect.
See:-
http://feedback.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayI...val=&page=2&frompage=-1&iid=5206235467&de=off
I hope everyone who appreciates xda-developers.com 's efforts will help stop this person from making money out of their efforts by telling them by e-mail how they feel about it.
technologyfusion.
The only way to deal with this kind of issue is to post an ad every day offering the software for free and directing the people to this site, that way nobody buys from the seller and there is a chance that those directed to the site may donate once they unlock and or upgrade their phone.
The other option is to email every bidder with the details.
I am not a vindictive person, generally, but that email is just begging for about 10,000 newsletters per day. I always believed that educating people is far more effective than punishing them. I think Daily Dumb Question will be a good start for him to explore.
I don't mind people reselling free tools. at the moment they take advantage of poor advertising of our tool.
I now created a wiki page for it, so it will become easier to find for people.
when it rises in google's index, it should become easier to find.
willem
If you're an eBay user, you can send private email to the bidders, warning them that what they are bidding on is available for free. They might not like finding it out after they've already bid, but they will probably appreciate knowing that they shouldn't pay any more for it, and that they can get it right away off the internet. (And if they don't mind a stain on their eBay record for 6 months, they can cancel their bid if it's not too late.)
But surely before bidding on eBay, they should have done their homework. A simple Google search would have found it.
Technically eBay could get you for "bid interference" or some such thing if you emailed users like that, but that won't happen unless they turn around and report you. Be careful, though: in several cases before, when I've given advice to bidders about a bad or misleading piece of merchandise, they've mistaken me for the seller and chewed me out!!! So I don't generally do this unless I'm prepared for an angry response. And I won't go out of my way to do it -- I'll just do it if, say, I was searching for something similar on eBay, and I stumbled across someone's unfortunate bid. ("Think I should warn them? Nah. No good deed goes unpunished.")
Speaking of theft of donations.... Has anyone noticed [deleted]

Digigasin ripped me off!!!

I have to complain about this site selling add space to Digigasin. This guy operates out of his apartment. I know because I found it. He took my money through PayPal and never did deliver the order. It has been past 45 days so PayPal won't do anything about it. They told me to go to the police. Digigasin will not reply to my emails and the phone number is just an answering machine. Don't buy anything from Digigasin, you'll be sorry.
I repeat, this site should not let him advertise here!
This site is not selling ads space to Digigasin, it has Google Adsense on it, and Digigasin has payed google to advertise. The ads are placed based on keywords found on the page you're looking and on local information (if you're from switzerland you get more swiss ad's).

I figured it was something like that. I guess I'm just venting...he took 189. Swiss francs from me. It is the first time I've been ripped off on the Internet and it doesn't feel good. I just wanted to warn others about this guy. His business is not professional at all, I know because I went there...nobody home either.
im a webmaster that uses google adsense and you can request specific ads not to be displayed, perhaps xda-devs could do that?
Well I am in Switzerland and the only add that I see at the moment is from Digigasin, change section, same add, go to wiki, same add.
So can't miss him. Looks like Google does not have many customers over here.

I wrote a letter to toppreise.ch where he advertises as well. It has been an eye opening experience. I did my research and still got ripped off. I'm going back to my old criteria, never let a an outstanding order go over the credit card/PayPal dispute period. My Platinum card would have snatched that money back if I hadn't waited so long. My excuse is the holiday season...live and learn.

Yes, why can't you stop this guy. This is really a matter of fraud. One of the reasons that I took a chance on him is because I saw his adds here.
Hello,
I am the webmaster of Digigasin and I must tell you I am highly shocked about what Matterhorn said. I am no crook ! I sometimes forget to reply to mails, that's true, and sometimes deliveries take time ! But one again, I am no crook !!
Whatever the problem is about (and I really don't know what it is about...), this customer will be refunded. My reputation is of value. I've just written an email to this member to have an explanation....

Besides, when a customer buys something with Paypal, he can write to Paypal and the money is immediately taken off my account, therefore the customer is refunded!
So what Matterhorn says is untrue. He certainly bought something in my Shop and the delivery period was certainly long. It is true that it's hard to reach me by phone and maybe I did not see one of his emails..but if he wrote more than one, I don't see how I could not have seen them and give a prompt reply !

Digigasin,
You don't run a business by "forgetting" to answer emails. I placed the order on November 14, 2006, yes that is a long time. I'll reply to you privately as I already have 5 times between Nov. 24, 2006 and Jan 11, 2007. Maybe this time you will respond.

No, you are wrong, what Matterhorn says is completely true. I sent you 5 emails and a voice mail trying to clear this order up and you didn't respond (I have all the records). I called PayPal to find out what to do and they said that because you strung the whole thing out for more than 45 days, that I would have to go to the police in Lausanne since it was past their time period for recourse. That is the honest to god truth.
Don't call me a liar Mr. You are the one that has not done the proper thing in this whole transaction. You took my money when I placed the order and that is the last I heard from you. Now I am taking this affair offline to a private discussion with you, unless you continue to refuse to respond to my emails.
So if you want to preserve any reputation, let's take this matter to private correspondence, or better yet, just refund my CHF189. and I'd be able to say so here and other forums that you did the right thing.
As I promised, I am confirming resolution of this issue. Digigasin has refunded the funds from my order plus some extra compensation. Thank you for the refund.
Still, I think this guy is not doing a good job. Wonder what happen to your $$ if you were not to make noises here.

BizSpark FAQ for Phone 7 Developers: MS Products, Azure, etc.

I've been seeing a lot more interest lately from the XDA community regarding Azure and figure it is worth starting a thread to try to answer some basic questions.
First, I'll be up front with everyone...BizSpark is my day job, I work for Microsoft and technology evangelism is my passion. I can think of few things more exciting than what the Cloud is going to bring to the market through mobile device in the next few years. We know who's going to be on the front lines of driving this innovation: you are. So let's answer those questions:
How does someone get Azure for free through BizSpark?
Sign up for a BizSpark account hereThis is the updated site that offers information: BizSpark Azure.
Deal is, you sign up for the introductory offer (free), set your subscription to (not “Auto Renew”), and then after 16 months sign up for the BizSpark Azure (Again, free) for the end of your agreement.
Who qualifies?
Yes, there are qualifications, but pretty much anyone who cares enough about software development to be reading this sub-forumon XDA will qualify. If you are actively developing software, you aren't developing this project for a publicly traded company, your project/startup is less than three years old and is making less than US $1M annually, you qualify. That simple.
What other products can I get?
BizSpark pretty much gives you a premier MSDN account for three years, so if it is on MSDN, you can use it. Dfinitly everything you car about: Visual Studio, all of the Expressions products, etc.
Many products have stipulations that they be used for development purposes only, but Azure, Server, SQL, etc can be used in production, meaning you can go live, host your product and try to make some money with it.
Can I get a free AppHub developer account, too?
No, but there's always hope...

Why is Microsoft giving their stuff away for free?
Because there should be no excuses for startup developers to not have access to the best software development tools on the planet.
If you have any questions, feel free to PM me or send me an email through the board.
I thought this could be a cool idea so I applied, and got denied about 6 hours later. The email told me I do not qualify and to look into Dreamspark or a MSDN account.

let me try and see...
I applied, but...my company is older than three years, but has only done software dev for one year. Hopefully I'll be allowed in, but not holding my breath. Might actually still be cheaper to create a new company and apply via that
Anyone having problems, contact me directly:

Cheers! Will do
For those weary about bizspark, it is a great thing for start ups. There are other things that come with it... not just free software. I am glad someone from MSFT is here to talk about it. You do need to be less than 3 years old and make less than a million dollars in revenue in a year -- which is always the case for most startups.

Didn't qualify. They didn't say why, but my company is older than 3 years.
Too bad, so sad, back to work!
Oh yea, Shout out to the XDA community. I've enjoyed lurking her for years now. Lots of beautiful things and creative ideas. Thanks so very much!!!

I've been slow to reply to PMs, but will try to get through the backlog today.
Giving it a try now. I'm hardly a "company" or "start-up", but I write software and have a couple of projects that I would like to begin working with .Net for. Also, the idea of a premier MSDN account is a nice idea. It's like high school all over again, just trying to get some acceptance .
giving it a try now, this would be sweet considering I am developing a word search game.
Signed up yesterday, and PM sent. This would be fantastic.

Facebook buying Instagram for $1B

http://www.forbes.com/sites/bruceup...s-instagram-for-1-billion-wheres-the-revenue/
Facebook is buying Instagram, according to this post today from Mark Zuckerberg. The purchase price of $1 billion will be paid in cash and Facebook shares. From the blog post:
"This is an important milestone for Facebook because it’s the first time we’ve ever acquired a product and company with so many users. We don’t plan on doing many more of these, if any at all. But providing the best photo sharing experience is one reason why so many people love Facebook and we knew it would be worth bringing these two companies together."
Instagram rocketed to 30 million iOS users in 18 months and was named iPhone app of the year in 2011. It is one of the best apps for taking and sharing photos from the iPhone. Its square images and assorted image filters let anyone make retro, techno and pretty pictures out of mundane shots of their kids, pets, food. Instagram’s Android version, released last week, got millions of downloads immediately. But $1 billion, if true, is still a crazy number. Instagram doesn’t make any money. Nor did it say it was focusing on revenue. It is still chasing big users. Kevin Systrom, Instagram’s CEO, wrote this to calm down his users in response to the deal. An excerpt:
"It’s important to be clear that Instagram is not going away. We’ll be working with Facebook to evolve Instagram and build the network. We’ll continue to add new features to the product and find new ways to create a better mobile photos experience."
It’s not clear what the Facebook deal means for the Series B funding round that may have closed last week, led by Sequoia Capital, Thrive, Benchmark and Greylock at a reported $500 million valuation. But the fact that Facebook would pay 2x what the company was supposedly worth within a week’s time suggests this is a defensive move. Facebook has the money (almost $4 billion in cash on hand as of December 2011), and certainly isn’t desperate for more users, most if not all of whom are already on Facebook (which greatly influences the price-per-new-active-user Facebook is paying. See crude math below.)
Fred Wilson has said that Facebook is really about photos and this only underscores that. The mobile-social photo sector is still amorphously led but if anyone is harmed by this deal it is Yahoo. Facebook is really going after its Flickr property here, to put the nail further in Yahoo’s coffin. (To its discredit, Yahoo hasn’t done anything with Flickr lately). Zuckerberg is playing chess, making a defining move in how it stands in the photo space. It’s like what Google did with YouTube.
One problem this will solve for Instagram’s 30-something million users is that sharing an Instagram photo on Facebook from your phone pretty much sucks right now. Here comes the much needed integration: bigger photos, more detailed info about the filters, etc. Right now all you get when you post an Instagram photo on Facebook from your phone is a small link and a thumbnail image. A better integration will stimulate more sharing through Instagram.
But a $1 billion for 30 million users that pay nothing for the service? Sounds crazy but consider this: Instagram is getting bought for $33 per user. Facebook is supposedly trading with a market cap of close to $100 billion and has 850 million users, giving it a value of $117 per user. So it looks like a decent bit of funny-money arbitrage, using well-endowed Facebook shares to acquire users and solidify hold of a strategic asset at a lower valuation. We don’t yet know how much of the deal is in cash vs. stock, so this calculation could be less favorable sounding but it still makes sense with Facebook currency.

0mie custom doors status thread

Since indiegogo apparently thought the best way to dodge accountability was to poof the entire campaign on their site, I figure a thread here is warranted. Please post if you never received your door as well. I'm rather curious what percentage of his orders actually did get filled.
As for myself I emailed indiegogo and PayPal and neither seem to be inclined to take much action to actually get anyone's money back. Perhaps if there's enough of us an action can be forced. I really don't like the idea of letting this slide
Having received the email explanation today about the doors, I made the thread title more hospitable. I already went and grabbed another door from Gruber which I'm happy with though, so will be requesting a refund myself. How that turns out will decide how I feel about this.
Yeah same boat here. Not exactly thrilled that my attempts to contact both through the indigogo site and to 0Mie himself on xda have gone unanswered. I contributed I think about the 8th of March, and not long after that would have been the last email update I received from him about progress and dispatch updates.
Wow - I came here just to post this thread...
Never received the battery door, and PayPal closed the dispute because the transaction was more than 45 days old... That'll teach you to give the benefit of the doubt to the person. Did ANYONE receive a door? The contribution level got up to ~$7,000... He had a website up for a few days, but it looks like the domain is no longer registered to him -- Who-Is registry.
Does anyone know who this guy is? I found that Indiegogo thread here on XDA...
Wow ...I guess he was on some news sites as well ...damn ..

He took my $65 contribution for a battery cover and spare battery, as well as many others' contributions and disappeared. The last I heard from him was over a month ago. He sent out an email saying some of the covers were done and that he was working on others and if anyone needed to get a hold of him to contact him through his site. (andetch.com)
As of a week or so ago, the site is no longer active, indiegogo and paypal have pretty much told all of us we're SOL, and people who were told their doors "were shipped" never received them. Both of the sites he operates from have been taken down and no one can contact him on his Google+ page either. I would never talk negatively on someone without good reason and I'm not sure if maybe he had something come up and couldn't follow through with the project but any type of response or refund would be nice. Here's the original project page with comments from many other unhappy contributors. http://www.indiegogo.com/Galaxy-Nexus-Laser-Etched-Doors?c=comments

I hope this guy goes to hell, seriously... I was one of the first people that contributed when I saw his campaign and even helped promote it a little bit. I feel betrayed and it makes it even worse that I helped promote this liar.
And I'm in the same boat, haven't received any updates, emails, or battery door yet.
Still had his google plus page from early in the campaign. This is what convinced me he is dodging rather than just MIA for some real reason. The plus page has been unused a while, but there's a tweet a few days back, and we're adding stuff to our 'wish list' on april 10th...which is after my 2nd polite email inquiry about what the status of the campaign is...

I received mine. I ordered it on March 12th via his website (they day before I ordered the Google limited from ebay) and they both came in on the 31st. I had to contact him via an xda pm after a week of not hearing anything about the shipping though, but I eventually got it. I think he said he got swamped with orders plus was busy at work so he got delayed getting the orders out.

Oh I totally agree. Especially when in the first pm I included my Google checkout order number and his reply back was "did you order GSM or cdma version". Ugh really? That's why I included the order number
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using XDA
I paid for my gsm door plus international shipping early on and got a couple emails early on but nothing for ages. No door yet. I have given up on ever getting it...
I would love to be able to take back the other post I made in the other thread. He was nothing less than great to speak with at the beginning of the campaign. I'm definitely frustrated at this point though. No responses to emails or inquiries just seems too suspicious. There's also the matter of his sites now being inactive. If I end up getting a response, a refund, or what I paid for I'll be more than happy to delete the posts I've made.
I think we'd all love to give the benefit of the doubt, but the ball is very much in his court to respond and he isn't at all.
His profile shows activity on xda after this thread began yesterday. If there's an explanation, we're listening.

Exactly - I think the majority of us understand that life gets in the way, and it's not always possible to finish what you start -- but a refund is at least needed. As it stands now, he stole the money.
Found a google profile for his website but like everything else there hasn't been any activity since mid March.

Seems like this is the only site he's been "active" on.
