[Q] Turn on bluetooth when in airplane mode - Droid Incredible Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I use my phone with wifi for streaming video at home, if I put the phone into airplane mode and then turn wifi on I obviously save battery but then can't turn on bluetooth to use my BT stereo headphones anyone know of an app that will either just turn off the phone radio or let me turn on both wifi and bluetooth when under airplane mode.
I have spent hours in the market and tried a bunch of apps but nothing lets me turn off the phone radio and not lock bluetooth off.
Anyone know of an app that will handle this?

That is the purpose of airplane mode, to turn off BT and mobile network. You may want to save yourself trouble and turn off airplane mode. Besides, if you plan on using your phone on wifi as well as BT headphones, then you aren't saving any battery. What/who suggested you to regularly turn airplane mode on while using wifi as a battery saving technique? That just makes your phone useless for calls/text though I understand you can use the home phone for calls.

Check out an app called "Better Locale Airplane Mode" in the market. Its 99 cents. I havent used it but you can try it and see if it works.

Cm7 has this natively
-My life is a shooting range, people never change-

"Better Locale Airplane Mode" in the market, does work on my two Android 2.2 phones HTC Incredeble and LG Revolution.
The app sets the behavior options when airplane mode is enabed but does not act as a toggle itself, you use the toggle widgets to change the state of wifi and bluetooth on or off.
There is a nice battery savings to using this when not actually flying and only needing wifi and/or bluetooth

[Q] Auto night powerdown

I have an HD2 with WP7 - XBmod, and it uses a lot off battery power during the night special if I enable Wifi, 3G, Data, bluetooth, GPS...
I know that if I disable all this before I go to sleep all is bether, but life have to be easy!
Is there a sitting or a program that can auto disable all power consuming hardware in a specified time periode. Fx from 23:00 to 07:00?
it might be better to ask in the WP7 HD2 section... but in general, gps isn't on unless an app summons it to be on (even if you leave the use location setting on), and wifi turns off if the phone is not charging and goes to stand by. so that really just leaves 3G and blue tooth that runs whilst your phone is in standby mode.
though there is no setting in particular to do what you want.

[WIFI POLICY] Idea for the best Wifi battery save

Now, there are 3 different modes for the Wifi suspension control:
- Never: This option never turn off the wifi connection. So, is better when you are connected to a wifi, but is worse when you are not, because the phone is always searching for connection.
- When it´s not charging: This option turns off the wifi when you turn off the screen, if the phone is not charging, so, is basically like the next option if the phone is not charging, and the first option if the phone is charging.
- Always: This option turn off the wifi always when you turn off the screen. So, is better when you are not connected to a wifi, because the phone isn´t draining battery searching for wifi. But it is worse when you are in a known wifi zone, because the phone is using the data instead the wifi when the screen is off, which drains more battery and waste data of your mobile monthly data.
Neglecting the option of turning wifi on/off manually thorugh the widget, and not using 3rd party apps like juicedefender, I thing the most intelligent and battery saver option depends on your life. So there isn´t a good option for all the people and for all days. For example, I thing the best option for me in the working days is 'Always', because I doesn´t have wifi in my working place, and I spend 10 hours a day on it, so, when I am working, the phone is in my pocket without searching for wifi, but, in the weekend, the best option for me is 'Never', because I spend a lot of time on my house. Finally, for a person who stays the most time of his day in a wifi zone, the best option is 'Never'.
Ok, now I ask, it could be an option that could be the best for all the people? I think the answer is YES:
I think if could be possible to have a mix of 'Never' and 'Always'. I explain, imagine the wifi is suspended at this moment, so you are on mobile data, and you are in your house, for example, and turn on the screen to view the weather. When you turn on the screen, the wifi awakes and connect to your home´s wifi connecion and you view the weather. Now you turn off the screen, BUT, THIS IS THE DIFFERENCE whith the 'Always' option, the wifi DOESN´T turns off, because it is connected at this moment. So, all the time you are at home, since the first screen´s turn on, the phone is connected to the wifi, saving mobile data, and battery, because the wifi drains less battery. Now, you leave your home, and, when the phone lost the wifi signal, turns the wifi off, so, when you are in a not known wifi zone (like the street), the wifi suspends itself for saving battery of wifi searching. The wifi only will search for a known wifi when the screen is on (like now with the 'Always' option) and, if it isn´t connected to a wifi when you turn off the screen, the wifi goes to suspension mode. Now you enter to your home again, with the phone in your pocket, with the screen off, so the phone won´t connect to your home wifi until you turn on the screen, and at this moment, your phone will always be connected to your home wifi until you leave your home again.
I think that is a good idea, and I guess why google doesn´t include something like this in android, it could be the best option for all people in all the situations.
What do you thing about the idea?
I like the idea and I would love to see it implemented! Whenever wifi signal drops out, don't search for it until screen is on.. Would be brilliant!

I am pretty sure we can configure a Tasker profile for something like that!

Probably, but the ideal case would be the option integrated into de system
up
Sounds like a good idea
but for now i use Y5 app
I like the idea, I think its very logical. I fall into the "always around WiFi" group of people though and the "Wifi sleep>Never" options suits me well, If I ever am not in my usual places, I have a wifi toggle on my notif bar for that. One thing I do miss though is the app "WiFi Status", its not compatable with either ICS or the SGN, not sure what the problem is, so I cant use it.

[Q] Strange airplane mode/gps issue

So noticed something odd.
turning airplane mode on and off doesn't change the gps mode switch (which is fine imho, gps is a sensor like the inclinometer or magnetic compass)
BUT, it interferes with apps ability to access the gps data
ie. airplane mode is on, gps switch is on, run an app that uses gps data and it never sees it even though the status bar will say 'searching for gps' but never sees or locks any satellites.
if you turn off airplane mode it works just fine, if you reenable airplane mode it will continue to work.
tried using lgs online chat and got nothing but idiots, first one insisted the gpad didn't have gps that it used wifi and cellular signals to simulate location finally got him to send me to someone else and this guy insisted that airplane mode should disable all communication and that gps was communication then after trying to explain the difference between active transceiver systems and passive sensor systems he abruptly disconnected the chat without saying anything...
suffice to say not too pleased with lg support right now
anyhoo, anyone elses pad doing this?

[Q] What does airplane mode turn off?

If the device only has bluetooth, what does airplane mode actually do? Is it the same as going to bluetooth and turning it off?
If I'm at work all day and I do not have my android phone with me (because I cant) whats the best way to save battery thru the day? Being away from the phone and not doing anything destroys my phone and my watch battery. I have been putting it in airplane mode. Seems to be the best way to alleviate the issue. Is turning that on disabling any other options?
Airplane mode shuts off all radios Bluetooth, Wi-Fi . Then when you hit airplane mode again it flicks both on at the same time

The 360 does not have wifi or radios.... That was my point.
It switches off the bluetooth. When u hit Airplane mode.
And i dont think there is a dedicated option to turn Bluetooth off in Moto 360 except for the Airplane Mode.

buddy it do have wifi built in it......
Hi!
Yes, since the last 5.1.1, the Moto 360 can use Wi-Fi to connect with your phone (it's got a built in Wi-Fi chip that wasn't used up to now).

Question Bluetooth doesn't turn on when Airplane mode is ON

I use airplane mode everyday in my work while listening to music.
Yesterday my Galaxy A52s had a security update and after that when i turn on airplane mode the bluetooth doesnt open when i click it.
Seems like its crashing because if i click it about 20 times it may open after a while. It only opens instantly if i have my airplane mode disabled.
I also tried resetting my network settings but no luck...
What happened? Anyone had similar problems?
