Slacker Radio now mango'd for everyone - Windows Phone 7 General

Got the update few hours ago, it works in the background great.

Slacker was updated for Mango like a month ago.

No, only the TMobile version was unfortunately, they JUST updated the other one

I wonder if it takes a while to show up in the marketplace for different people. Mine still says it's up to date at 1.6

Same here. I don't see the updated version yet.

Does this app actually work now? When I used it, it would take upwards of 3 seconds to respond to any type of touch/command. And it registered all gesters as taps.

I'm not sure what you mean. There is sometimes a 2-3 second delay after selecting a station, while it buffers content, but the app itself clearly responded to my tap instantly (there was visual feedback of my selection).
BTW, I just went to the online marketplace, and the update shows up there, and I was able to install it. Background playback is now fully supported, and the volume bug appears to have been fixed. I get very good volume levels from the app now.
I'm a happy slacker now!

I had to uninstall the current version in order to get this one but it works great even over my slow as **** 3G connection.

That's what I love about the new web-based marketplace. I didn't have to uninstall the old one, even though my phone kept reporting it as current. The web version forced it to "reinstall", which got me the new version.

1.6 is the latest I believe since it now plays in the background on my focus

that's a shame as I usually like seeing that marketplace tile show when there's updates available. maybe slacker is mad at me because I *****ed at them in an email about updating the tmobile version before the normal version.

Mine just updated. 1.6 is the latest, it just wouldn't let me update earlier. It is much faster and responsive and, best of all, plays in the background.

I think it's just a fluke. The marketplace is kind of in a state of flux right now. The WP7AppList app was reporting this morning reporting that there were over 800 app updates since yesterday.

better facebook app?

Ok, being an iphoner prior to my android switch some time ago I know that the facebook for android app sucks, I've researched a couple posts on this topic and very varied answers so I wanna get an opinion or answers from my G2'ers of which facebook app is best, id at least like to get quick notifications pushed.
Id love to know about this too...
Sent from my T-Mobile G2 using XDA App
the first versions of facebook official sucked. the latest version is pretty solid. there's still something things that are odd, like notifications go to the touch site instead of staying in the app, but besides that, its almost fully featured.
that said, the touch.facebook.com site is probably the best. i use the app though.
i used to use Bloo but since fb official came out, ive just used that.
Unfortunately, the official app is the best one, eventhough it's not really that good.
the official app finally has notifications?
ive been using tweetdeck beta...
It does but a lot of different kinds of notification simply don't show up. And even when it does show your notifications properly, tapping you brings you to the browser instead of in the app... pretty crappy. Definitely my number one android complaint (obviously not the fault of android tho)
Sent from my T-Mobile G2 using XDA App
has anyone tried Bloo ? it was the popular app before the official Facebook app became usable. i know the developer stopped working on it and i'm not sure who took over if anyone but you can check it out, i think i might do that as well.
I actually use a Desire and I've been using Android for years but, I use Bloo. It's awesome compaired to the official app. You'll need to go to the developers site to get the latest version, as it's not on the market.
He explains in his site that he has been working with logitech, that's why he hasn't been able to keep on top of updating Bloo.
As far as I'm aware, he's in the process of making the source code public so someone can make a new app.
The version of Bloo on his site is way more reliable than the official app and has loads more features.
I'm not on G2 yet but for my "daily driver" FB app I use bloo, it is still stuck in beta but it works for notifications and normal useage.... for more detailed info I still rely on the official FB app.

N.o.v.a bug? G2 question

For one does anyone own nova and have gotten through the singleplayer with it.
Secondly I am on the second mission, something void. I get to a part in the game where you have to upload the virus using a terminal. After uploading the virus those green aliens spawn in and I kill them all. After killing them all nothing happens all the door locked.
I downloaded the game from the android gameloft website and purchased it after testing the trial bfrom the games ui.
Sent from my T-Mobile G2 using XDA App
It's a known issue. I managed to play through the game using version 3.3.9. Anything I upgraded to seemed to get hung at one part or another (virus upload or the hangar area in the level after the virus part). Hope this helps.
I have same problem ...so I started over thinking I did something wrong lol...guess I didnt
Sent from my T-Mobile G2 using XDA App
Yea thats what I gathered, gamelofts support as not very helpful and instead just said device not supported. Instead of telling about the bug.
I guess only way to play is to find that lower version which is disappointing considering I paid money for this.
There's a version on a website that sounds like Wobilism (turn the W upside down and you have your site) They have addressed this issue and have a fixed version. Keep in mind it is hacked and since warez and stuff aren't supported here so I can't link to it. Works fine for me though and I can confirm it works.
Its just a patch in my eyes since I actually bought it, thanks for the tip.

[Q] Has your market been updated?

Hi,
I know there is somewhere around here the update of the new market.
However I have not installed it or anything and now my Desire Z has it, which makes me wonder if anyone having a Desire Z has also got it?
Because I also have a Desire and Wildfire but neither of them has got the update.
Thanks
*****EDIT ****** My wildfire and my Desire Z have got it, maybe I havent got it on the Desire since I am on a custom ROM.
Anyhow thanks
Google did say they would be rolling it out over the next few weeks. I haven't got it yet either.
But there's an .apk you can install if you want, over on the Apps forum.
I got it last night. It updated silently, without any notification, which i don't realy like...
New Market app looking good, just needs to get used to it. I don't mind for sharing an .APK if you want.

Market has always updated silently, it updates far more often than you know about, but most of the time it will just be bug fixes and not actual change so you will never notice.
The same method they use to update the market is how they can also remove banned apps you have installed (if installed via the market)

After they've removed "Free Advanced Task Manager" from my phone i switched to CM ROM (without GApps) for ~2 months and just now starting to use all that Google spyware-kit again. That's the only thing i hate about Google. Automatic app updates via Market su**s too IMO. They keep getting updates even if i've un-ticked "Allow automatic updating" box.

i updated my market app manually, but it seems this one is eating battery, there is a running program called alarmService Process: com.android.vending and its running... i didnt have this with my older market... is there any way to get the old version back?
It updated overnight sometime between tuedsay and wednesday. I liked the old one better, this one tries too hard to look like the app store
Don't think mine has updated, looks very much the same as before to me.

You'll know when it gets updated. They've revamped the looks of the interface quite a bit.

Last time I checked mine wasn't updated
I received the update, but not sure if I care for the new coverflow rip-off UI. Unnecessary eye candy. My battery life seems to be noticeably worse after the market update, anyone else seeing this?
My biggest question is does the new marketplace work properly with a non-gmail login for my Google account. I HATE gmail, and do NOT want a gmail address - yet Android Marketplace forced me to add one to my otherwise perfectly valid existing Google account.
Now the bloody gmail address has taken over (without asking me) my default Google and YouTube logins. Grrrr.....
And gmail, I have now found, has no technical support facility. At all. Period. Just a user forum, which seems pretty useless so far.
What a shambles of a way to operate a company that is providing the operating bedrock to phones selling for £500!

This is completely off topic. If you want to rant about Google, start a new thread.
Mine was just updated last night.
I noticed mine was updated about 6 hours ago. My G2 was at 9% battery life when I found out. I downloaded Tweetcaster (yeah, I took a dive and re-started my Twitter account), set up the widget and I still had 9% when I plugged it in, that was all of 10-15 minutes though so I can't comment on battery life.
I actually like the new market. So far, navigation is just as easy as it was before and looks much more refined and sleek than it did before. Personally (after consulting my iTouch's market with the new Android market), I saw a bigger resemblence to the iOS and Android markets BEFORE the update (back when both used block buttons). Since the update, there's a lot more curves and graphics in the Android Market than iOS (and I've looked at both...just now) and it just looks more appealing.
This is just IMO, but good job Google, I like it.
Went back to stock in hope of receiving market update. Nothing so far, am on the european desire z
I got the new Market this afternoon. Looks flashier but I find the carousel thing at the top of the screen doesn't work too well, and it's hard to flick it to the exact app that you want to look at without pressing on it. Maybe that's just me though ?

It does take a minute to load, wherein it's laggy, but after a minute or two the carousel works just fine for me (short swipes usually just move it one over).

I also was able to sign up before it was closed. No word yet. Hope they're not c*ck blocking on us custom rom users.
I also missed the signups, but I hope I can get my hands on the beta version because the one they have in the market is killing me!

Just the one that's on the Market, I guess 1.6 isn't the beta we are looking for.
Has anyone installed the update? Many comments in Market about problems since updating to this version...

Still loads of bugs,
Cant get into friends with a force close.
Messages broken, they don't sync properly.
Also to rub salt into the wound, the have FULL access to your text messages with no legitimate reason. Poor effort. Might have to find the 1.5.4 apk.
I'll keep my 1.5.1 Works good even with friends. Anything after was a nightmare.
Im using Cyanogen V7.1-RC1 and seems like LauncherPro doesnt sync my Facebook events to LauncherPro Calendar widget or normal Calendar like it used (Theres only option to sync contacts in settings) before.
Not sure if the problem occured with Nightly build 119 which I used before, but Im pretty sure it worked with that, and ofc. with Sense based roms.
Is the problem now with LauncherPro or with Cyanogen? Or maybe even with the Facebook app?
Argh!!! Its all changed!! Suddenly about 15 mins ago it seemed to completely reload and now looks "improved" For the record, I previously force closed and cleared cache / data so this is just weird.
Cons:
Friends still force closes though
Pros:
Filters on friend feed.. Yay, finally get rid of pages of stupid game updates.
Looks and feels smoother. (I'm on Wifi though)
Craig
If you are having problems I really suggest running a fix_permissions from RM or from terminal, it solves most of my problems for me. I updated a few days ago but it suddenly changed for me too. The new news feed is pretty nice and I love how I can like comments now. Pages seem to be so-so but better than nothing. Chat actually seems to be working!
I don't use launcherpro but if I'm not mistaken, it uses its own client completely separate from the official facebook app so the new update shouldn't be affecting anything.

To be fair, I'd say Swiping through screens has been there in Android for long, can't recall when exactly, but I think YouTube app was one of the first, the tiles do give out a hint of WP7, but again, I find the styling bit more close to Web version of the Market.
As for slow refresh, yes I do notice that too !! I'm sure will be fixed in future updates
the tiles on the front screen was the wp7 thing.
swiping left and right - didnt even cross my mind
Works on oxygen. But only then reallu fine, when pictures are loaded. But it looks nice.

Yeah, google should also put an option to disable the preview page, the one with bigger images, for each category..It works good on wi-fi, but can't work on low 3g or edge..After 10 minutes i browsing the market, it downloaded about 16 MB of data..too much
Really want to install this but the amount of data it consumes seems kinda crazy.
I've been using the new Android Market for about a day now and I'm really enjoying it.The new layout is nice and gives the market a more premium feel. Some new great high quality apps would make it almost perfect.
