The only thing i have ever successfully did with my epic 4g was 1 click root it. I have no idea how to do anything and i really want to learn but i dont know where to start, From what i've read around, Rom is like an Operating system? like vista xp win 7?
If someone could point me in the right direction i'd greatly appreciate it. I really want to get nice themes and learn more about my phone. I don't want to just be a basic epic 4g user with a basic epic 4g phone.
also, any ideas on when 2.3 gingerbread is coming out?

oh i know he has but i like to understand what i am doing and how to undo it, how to get back to stock, how to root, how to install a rom and uninstall it, what rom really is how it works, all that, i dont like playing with toys without knowing whats what. lol

I seen threads on Guide to rooting, then there is "how to fix a semi-bricked Epic" and there are guides to themeing in the Theme Forum. Just poke around, read those threads, start fiddling, and if you get stuck on something just ask. PM me if you like. Lots of knowledgeable people here that love to help.

For some reason I can't get any thing from Droid pirate to load on my dinc. I'm using the redemption rom 2.3 if that's makes a difference and I'm trying to install these using metamorph. Help would be awesome

Can you give us specific examples of themes you've tried to apply?
Can you clarify what you mean by the statement that you can't get them to load? Does that mean you can't open them in MetaMorph at all? Or does MetaMorph say that it has applied the theme and then nothing changes?
I gave just tried to install custom notification backgrounds. That's it. I didn't Droid pirate was bad.

I had someone tell me about Droid pirate and how good it was. That's why I tried it. I didn't knw it could be a virus. But I have only tried installing custom notification backgrounds and nothing eles.

As far as I can tell, the comments about viruses and such were knee-jerk reactions to the site name.
I'd like to help you, but you still aren't providing the necessary information for me to be able to do that. Can you provide a link to the specific MM theme that you tried to apply? There are pages and pages of notification backgrounds.
Also, can you please specify the problem? Is MM failing to open the theme file? Is MM claiming to apply the theme but nothing changes upon reboot?
I still don't know exactly what you mean when you say you can't get them to load. That could mean many different things.
Yes mm is applying the file but nothing is happening on the reboot. I can see if I can get the link real quick if that will help.

I do not have many posts, due to the fact that I am a new member, so I shall make this one count. I rooted my phone flawlessly. Now I want to add a rom, perferably ICS Or Cyanogen 9.0, something flashy if you catch my drift. I tried doing an ICS one and ended up clearing all data from my phone with out any movement forward. I am at a loss as to how to implement these roms!

So I have a mac running mountain lion and I want to root my S3. How do I go about doing this? Also how do I flash custom roms and where do I get custom roms from such as the jelly bean rom? This is my first time rooting a phone so sorry for all the questions. If I root my phone will all my current data get lost? Also how do I get my phone back to how it was before I rooted it so stock?

First things first, throw the CrApple nonsense in the garbage where it belongs. Then hit up google on a nice windows based PC, and let it lead the way...

I just did a quick search on youtube typing in root s3 on mac and it was the first video
