[App] Google Music 4.0.1 APK - Verizon Droid Incredible 2

Thought I would post here just incase people missed it! ICS version of Google Music is pretty awesome and an improvement over Music 3. I'm on CM7 nightly 85 and its running well. You have to uninstall your current version of Google Music before installing this one.
I had to uninstall it and reinstall it once in order to get it to sync with my online music.
Google Music 4.0.1 APK
Thank you Android Police!

Have they updated it yet to allow you to download your music like Amazon mp3 let's you?

Thanks for posting the apk
I haven't tried yet, but in the settings there is an option to download music to save for offline use. I'll try it once I finish syncing and see what happens.

No they haven't...so disappointing since I would much rather use the Sense 3.5 player.

When this app requests permissions for my google account it also has the letters "sj" below what does this mean?

No it did not....well, Amazon saves the song to SD when downloaded, but Google Music still stores it in the cache of your device so that it can't be played in other music players even if you click to make it available offline.
Sent from my Incredible 2 HD using XDA App

Yeah I have found the cache where it downloads the stuff for offline but it saves it with its own number set do you don't know what is what when viewing the files in a file explorer. I like google music because I get more storage than Amazon but don't like the player.

So the sync option is not appearing in the settings of the app, is this wrong or does it just sync automatically?

Uninstall and then re-install the new apk. That is what I had to do to get my syncing options to appear. Others have said that clearning the app data will fix as well.

You have to be careful with the music download apps on the market. A lot of them are borderline spyware. I use beemp3.com through the browser. It redirects to a pretty solid mobile mp3 download site.

Forgot to mention, if you use the site, click and hold, then use click to save to download. If you just click the download link it just plays it in the browser.

I use musicbox. Seems to work fine. I havent had any issues with the songs i've downloaded and my default music player has them loaded in its library. Only thing I wish it would do is find the album art and let me edit the title, artist, album info, etc...if there's an app out there that lets me do that AND its FREE I would be all for it

That makes no sense. I'm pretty sure they just do that for ads and does it really matter, its tracking where you are not your credit cards lol

Google Music Downloads

I keep all of my music on Google Music, but I'm running Bliss 3.5 and I really love the stock music player. Whenever I go to download songs stored online though, they still don't show up in the stock music app. Is there a certain way to do this?

I remember that being a massive battery eater. Otherwise totally agree.
Never had it drain my battery any more than any application that streams data while in use. It does use more power than keeping songs on your phone but never was a battery drain on any of my devices. The new software definitely is smoother though.

I had it install apps on my homescreen. What a pain in the ass. Took me a couple of days to find out what the hell was installing apps, they would just appear out of no where. I was also getting ads in the notification bar. This was on my SG2 so maybe something is different with SG3.
haven't seen anyone mention this one yet but I use TinyShark Downloader... it downloads songs in mp3 format from groove shark and works really well. I don't think there are any ads but I use ad free so it might but I don't see them.there's also a version to stream instead of download. the download version is not on the market anymore (due to copyright issues maybe?)
exigo.x10.mx/ the green shark icon is the downloader and blue is the streaming version

Google Sound Search (For UK Nexus 7)

Not seen this mentioned, probably because the US ones have it as stock.
As Play music isn't available over here, Google have frozen the app out on UK N7s. If you've got Titanium backup installed, just defrost "Sound Search For Google Play 1.0.1" and it will now appear in your widget list.
Obviously it can only be used for song identification, if you click the widget after it has identified a song it will just open a Chrome page letting you know that Play Music isn't available in your country.
It works extremely well, just as you'd expect from a Google search product

Just a note, the OS refreezes it when you restart the device which buggers up the widget. You just need to defrost it again and put the widget back on the homescreen

I've discovered it yesterday, along with Google Wallet, Books, Magazines and Video... All of these were frozen in my device.
Great stuff.
If your in the UK. Use a free us proxy server to sign into play music once. And you will have play music from then on

[Q] Where does Google Play Music store files on the Gnex?

When I pin files to be stored locally on the phone, I can't find them anywhere. There are 2 reasons I care.
1. Every time I flash a new rom, I have to re download the files.
2. I can't get winamp to find the files.
I tried googling it, but the only thing I could find was that it is stored on the sd card under data and play music, but the folder is empty when I check it.
Anyone with any ideas?

I actually found them. Unfortunately, the song files are named numerically so I don't know if I can just transfer them back to that directory after clearing cache. The files are stored in the root directory at:
/data/data/com.google.android.music/cache/music

Google does not let you use them other than on your phone through Google play because you can pirate the songs if they let you transfer them freely. Its copy right infringement

Check out the GMusic sniper app on the Play Store. It allows you to download your GMusic to your phone so that you don't have to redownload every time you flash a new ROM.

That's what I'm looking for. I don't think it's available anymore. I sent r2doesinc (who created it) a tweet to see if it is available anywhere. But I'm not holding my breath since no one ever replies to my tweets.
