Facebook inside on CM7? - Xperia Arc Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Is there a way to install the facebook extras that come with stock rom?
Any help with this would be appreciated!
Sent from my LT15i using XDA Premium App

yes i would change quick if i know that CM 7.1 would have the Facebook Inside

please NOT!
stupid facebook crap...
get a life or install it as an app if you really need it.

CM or SE stock, choose, different purposes, people wants timescape, facebook inside and all sony's stuff on the CM, so why flash CM, OMG...

Maybee an idea...
I recently discovered an app called Feep.
You can choose between 3 widgets in different sizes.
One is a 4x4 widget that is fully customizable
Its a really nice way to keep an eye on Facebook.
And... it's free without adds!

As an optional why not?
So lets hope there is some one manage to port it to work with cm7

Calm down, no need to be cocky and ultimately make a smart ass idiot out of yourself (perfect oxymoron for you). This is an open forum with different people having different needs and I see no reason why one cannot ask for some features.... If you don't want to use it means you are not interested in this thread so it doesn't need your insignificant input, I'm sure next time you demonstrate ignorance with arrogance, think twice or your time here will be pretty short....

now you are offending me. it was just my opinion about facecrap...
it must not be inside an operating system of a phone. but as an addon it is ok. but please not inside an os!
it is like ketchup inside vanilla pudding. some may like it but it is nothing for all others.
also i don't understand why facebook controlles so much peoples lifes...

I dont use facebook often the extras with facebook inside are just that they are extras and i thought people may find usefull, they are not available freely so that is why i asked. If you dont find it usefull then perhaps you should look at posts, threads that you do find usefull
I did not ask for it to be included as part of o.s. but as how we could add as an extra.

[Android 2.1]aHero + ADW Launcher

This ROM is just aHero v0.9 by MaXo64 with ADW Launcher v0.7eclair_beta7_UNSTABLE as standard (for all the lazy people out there ). The ROM & Launcher are in no way my work i just packed them together so enjoy .
DOWNLOAD
http://www.multiupload.com/CCIMP0JRYN
P.S.
This ROM is 100% dead ahero v1.0 is out and comes with ADW.
A good example of how to post other people's work =P
EDIT: I actually mean that.
=(
Agreed, sorry to say it.
All I wanted to do was add ADW launcher so that people dont have to add it after I take no credit and if you dont like it then dont use it and stick with the standard aHero then. I'm just sorry for trying to make peoples lives a little easier.

This is a gigantic waste of a thread, and as xangma said a PERFECT example of taking someone else's work and just reposting it. The actual update.zip for ADW is friggin tiny and if you're too lazy to flash it yourself (and are willing to flash this - a full ROM with wipe and everything for non-aHero users) you really don't belong here. Dabbling in experimental ROMs from unofficial sources requires patience and effort.
IMO the other ADW Launcher thread is a waste as well. Hero users are going to report bugs in that thread, and it's likely that they're going to be missed by the dev since it's easier to just keep up with the main thread. Imagine trying to aggregate bug reports for your app from every single Android Development forum for every Android phone out there - ten seconds of search would find anyone ADW Launcher in its original thread, or even on its dedicated website.
tl;dr if you were too lazy to read then you don't need to know what I said.
If people dont like something then dont comment on it nobody likes to read hate posts if MaXo64 tells me he does not want me to do this I will respect him and stop. I only did this because I had never done any thing like this before and after I did it I was thinking maybe others would like this.

Well I have absolutely nothing against this, I just think you should have posted it as reply in ahero instead of a new thread. But now you know.

But people can just flash a simple 500kb heavy zip to their phone without having to download the whole aHero rom. Do they even want aHero?
Oh whatever, do what you want. I'm not a mod

I actually think XANGMA was being sincere,....
I've read LOADS of comments from the veterans of this site having a go at people when they edit other peoples ROMs minimally and start new threads claiming to have a new ROM to offer the community. This is not what Arranmc182 has done.
Infact, only a few days ago I read a post saying if you want to tweak an existing ROM, make it as an update.zip, do not make claims it is a new ROM, and give credit where due,.... ARRANMC has done it by the book, so BRAVO.

The thread to help us replace HTC Dialer+HTC Contacts with AOSP and syncing contacts

I know the title may be confusing.
BUT, on literally even ROM i use i remove anything HTC, the only things I must leave in are HTCContacts.apk and HTCDialer.apk. Sometimes the HTCCamera but only if AOSP cam not included. Anyways, the reason those two must be left in is because your contacts will NOT sync if they arent there. Even if they are there and are frozen through Titanium Backup the sync works. However remove them and it dies. I have tried several different Contacts+Phone apks +renamed nothing... If it is a Sense-based ROM those have to stay in there.
Can someone help on the issue please. I know I am not the only one affected by this... All the Senseless ROM chefs know about it, I'm sure (minus true AOSP as CM6+)
sidenote... another htc thing that can be removed which i hate is in /system/framework. called com.htc.rss.jar. no one likes rss anyways
Brace on getting flamed by all the people that think they are mods.
Have you tried replacing contactsprovider.apk with an AOSP one? The rom in my sig doesn't have htccontacts.apk. im still working on phone though I mislabeled the original post.

Ok so here's the deal. With Sense, HTC modifies the Android source to a high degree. Because of this its hard to replace or remove certain files. The contacts provider or social networking service for example. So we need to figure a way to replace those files properly or remove the need for apps like the dialer. I think the key lies in the Android source.

[KERNELS] Looking for Kernel Developers for Kernel Manager!

Hey everyone! I wanted to introduce a new project with a very simple but ambitious goal: create a place where all kernel developers can submit kernels easily and reach a much wider audience with ease.
Using Kernel Manager to flash kernels takes less than 30 seconds, generally, and it is extremely simple for end-users to find a kernel, filter by kernel features (BFS, CFS, HAVS, SBC, etc) download/install kernels, and submit ratings for their favorites.
We need from kernel developers like YOU! Submitting a kernel to Kernel Manager is totally free and we even provide hosting for you! Submitting kernels is easy, and kernel developers receive a FREE copy of Kernel Manager Pro when they submit a kernel to Kernel Manager!
If you use IRC, join us in freenode in #kernel-manager!
THIS LINK IS FOR KERNEL DEVELOPERS SPECIFICALLY! Go to http://kernels.teamw.in and register for an account! Once it's approved, you can easily enter new kernels, which immediately show up in the app. The app is currently available in the market.
Please feel free to provide me with any feedback you have, or feature requests in order to make this a great tool for all of android to utilize!
Should I submit my kernels to this? This guy is making dough off this which I have no issues with at all...
Just wanted some opinions from you guys...
If it makes easier for us to keep up with your work, then whynot?
How many other Dev's have starrted using?
It's like Rom Manager for kernels, no?
If this had other features developed into the app and happened to support kernel downloads it'd be one thing, but I will not be paying someone else so that I can have access to the kernels that originate here. I'll save my money for the kernel devs. That being said if others find value in this, or if the dev community thinks it will do some good I'm all for it.
I see a **** ton of people having problems and coming straight to you faux.
I say make em flash the old fashion way... it at least deters some of the noobs. Making it something where anyone can one click change kernels.... sounds like opening a big can of worms.
Just my 2¢.

+1 I would like to see less repitition in the forums of "help I'm bricked!" Then 3 posts from a senior member with some knowledge "oh I just had 2.5.1.2 installed or 3.0.0.5" then there's the others like (this still makes me laugh) my internets slow, must be the sim card! Lol. Sorry rant I think it'd be a good app if only available to more seasoned users to inhibit the amount of screw ups..

Faux you are the kernal king !!! thanks alot for all your cool kernals dude. but i would just submit one and see what happeneds !!!
Good idea, but I agree with the others posts. It would be helpful to have everything in one spot, even with older versions, but him making scratch on you, with you as basically free support?
Unless you want to get your name out there to more people, then go for it.
Thank you for everything so far and in the future.
The problem is, we have so many different roms, and some of them require different kernels.
At least in the kernel threads they can see what works with what. An app like this will see ro.product.device=glacier and pull all the kernels. making it easy for someone to screw up and flash the wrong kernel.

Just to clarify something - it costs nothing for a dev to host a kernel, and it costs nothing for someone to download that kernel through the app.
Kernel Manager provides kernel devs a super easy way to distribute their work for free. Kernel Manager Lite can download and flash kernels for free, so I'm not sure why you feel like you need to pay for anything?

Currently we have 37 developers signed up and submitting kernels.
I make my kernels for ME but share them because it is the proper thing to do. Feel free to use them, host them whatever. I do not want to make any money off of them because I did NOTHING. If you want to make money off of them, or share them feel free. Depending on what you do, I will have more (or less) respect for you. But really, who cares. I respect shiznzul (so far), so have fun and good luck.

The app only displays kernels that are your for your particular device so there's no chance of flashing a kernel that's for the wrong phone.
If there's any question about what type of phone you have (see: samsung phones...), it pops up a message asking you to confirm which of the options your phone is.

What about seperating for different versions. We have two different Aosp formats... and two or three sense formats that we use on the 4g.
How does your app keep other kernels seperate so it doesn't screw up peoples phones?
That is the biggest issue I think most of us on the 4g see.

being that it's in the market there is always a chance it will become a paid app. I just don't want devs to become dependent on it, that's all. I like reading into what I'm doing, so I guess I should ask, is there a section for a changelog, install notes, etc?

There will always be a free version that provides access to the kernels. There is a free version (Lite) and a cost version (Pro) right now.
Pro will just have more features, but everyone will still be able to download+flash kernels for free if they like.

I am going to add a confirmation on the android flavor (AOSP vs Sense). I might add a filter option for it, but it's difficult because that field is developer-input. There isn't a standard list.

Which of this two roms is better?

Jedi Master 16 or Tweaked 2.4? Why?
Thanks

Just flash it and find out. Someone may sing praises about one rom but your experience may be different. Then there is personal taste. Something only you can attest to. Just give it a whirl. I was never a huge fan of jedi. Great work, just not for me. You might feel different though.

No disrespect to the OP - but threads like these tend to be dangerous and often times lead to work for the moderators when things get out of hand. This doesn't always happen, but if I were a betting man and knew nothing more than the first post my money would be on it being trouble.
The reasons for this are what EVO-lution of Man stated - especially between those two it's a matter of personal taste (in other words both are fully functioning daily-driver type material in terms of the basic phone functionality and what not). When people start stating opinions, those opinions can be challenged, then a felt need for defending those opinions takes over and things get messy - usually anyway. It's all about what works best for you, and the only way to really know is to try and see.
That being said - if there is something in particular you are unsatisfied with in the current setup another option would be contacting those responsible for it (hi ) and see if anything can be done.

I didn't mean unsatisfied, I wrote it because I was mad with that guy at the beginning, anyways.. It is not that, what I was trying to say is that I see that jedi has more features, more new things. At least that's my impression, I might be wrong, any ways... I'm installing the tweaked 2.4 version now because it is the one I've always used.
I want to format my phone and now I have to figure out how to install it with the new system, it would be easier with a simple installer (I'm suggesting ).
By the way, I have an extra camera, how can I delete the new one? I'm good with the old one . (I'm saying the app u use to take pics)
Oh, I forgot, I'm not demanding, this is free! and it's your work, and I'm great full to you for the time invested thanks

No worries. You very well might be right on the feature bit - Jedi definitely has features included that are not in tweaked (his kernel work, xposed framework, etc.), but there are likely a few the other way as well - as it should be as it would be a bit redundant if they were too similar That's not to say some of the features are exclusive to one or the other (using the above examples, ptmr posts his kernel separately and xposed is also something that can be installed separately) - just prepackaged.
I'm not sure whether either of these roms lack much in personalization, but I'll take the hit on the installer bit. I still like the idea, but it's a little different and that's not for everyone. That being said I redid much of the OP for 2.4 in order to address this, so hopefully the install process is a bit simpler looking now. And thanks to Alexea - there are a few more theme options around. I am in no way a themer, so one weakness on the tweaked side is definitely my reliance on others to take up the task and share their work. This does not seem to be a weakness on the Jedi side.
I take it you installed the aosp camera? That's the only way I could see you having two at least - if you want to get rid of the aosp one you can use the modificatinator. If you want to get rid of the samsung one you'll want to delete/freeze SamsungCamera.apk in /system/app.
Feel free to PM me if you have any other thoughts/questions/etc. - and I still think you should at least try Jedi. Personally I rather enjoy flashing things to try them out and see what they are like - and you very well may like it enough to stick with it. Of those who run stock modified roms, I think most use Jedi so it's definitely worth a look.

So I loaded Jedi master 16 and had so many issue with memory swap. Lost all. Oh well. Just look at last few pages of each and u can see what if any issues are in the rom. Now I gonna try tweaked but need to get hold of chef as to changing my kernel cause it did not do deep sleep at all. Maybe I missed something but need to try a diff kernel.

+1 Im very happy with stock kernel running 2.4 Ive always seem to have very minor issues with the "sexy" choice....
I've been running the jedi roms since I've got my note and just switched to tweaked in the last few days. I really like them both a lot but I'm definitely liking tweaked a little more. The whole star wars thing was getting a little old for my taste but it was still a great rom. It's all gonna come down to personal preferences and that's about all there is to it.

Oh wow - well the more telling stat on that one would be the screen on time. That's a pretty harsh drop if you weren't using your phone, but if the screen was on for half that time then it's much less surprising. Assuming it was off more than on, there have been a few google apps (mostly maps I think) that have been reported to cause some wake lock issues which could be at the root of it - this would be much more the case if the phone was not deep sleeping (except if you enabled the zerowakelag bit).

Tweaked is killing it for me
dwitherell never mind bro... I installed the last version of Tweaked and it's running perfect, oh now that I remember, there is something I'd like you to try to fix if you can. When you hack the volume and you make a call, the other person can hear his voice twice, like an echo. And the volume hack is very important.
Respect to the installer, I did the standard when it first came out on 2.1 I think, and I didn't like it that way (but it was not hard at all... my sister could do it and she has 14), then for the 2.4 I used the simple version of the installer and I liked it. So, forget what I said about the installer. Besides... you can modify everything later.
Oh... this was my question at the beginning, if I delete the AOSP camera, I will delete the gallery as well, and I really like the app for the gallery (I don't use the stock one). Is there any way I can delete only the camera?
So... 2 things:
Camera and volume hack
That's it, and they are not even issues, they work great. Thanks for everything :good:

No worries
I've heard the echo bit regarding the volume hack. I'll have to add that to the list of things to revisit to see if I can chase down what edit in particular is causing the issue. Yay trial and error
Unfortunately w/ the aosp camera/gallery - they are both contained within one single apk. Unless there is a sort of fanciness out there I am not aware of (a real possibility granted) I don't think you can have one without the other. I'm not sure if they come up as separate entities in something like titanium backup - but if they do perhaps you could freeze the camera part and see what happens w/ the gallery end? Just a thought

I'll try that

[Q] kinda would like to see some ICS help please?

Okay, so I've had i317 for about 4 months now, its a great phone. I would just love to see an ics 4.0.4 rom, be it stock or aosp,, aokp, etc for this device. The reason being is that there are alot of apps I used to use, such as UMA and a few others I cannot remember as of right now. Forgive me if this isn't the correct area to post the question lol. But can anyone possibly help me with my issue I'm having? A. ort or something would be ideal if possible.
On a side note: I have some prior knowledge with developing roms and getting them to work fully and such, like betas alphas and what not. just haven't gave much thought as to post on the forum untill now. So I'm not completely of the noob calibur so to speak.
Lastly, my final question, would anyone be interested in deving up a 100% pure custom 4.3 rom that is completely Pokemon themed right down to the contacts and dialer. I will include more detail upon request, also one that isn't 10.1 based or cm in general. The reason I say non cm based is because volume+ sound boost breaks the speaker and crackles pretty badly, and i am partialy deaf so the apk is much needed. Any help would be be very appreciated and id be eternally greatful.

It's not going to happen. The note 2 was shipped with 4.1.1 (or higher) so there is no 4.0 source for devs to work with.
Also, since pretty much every AOSP rom uses the CM Theme Manager, it's not that common to see themed roms (there are exceptions, but they tend to be lightly themed). Either find a CM theme to your liking or learn to theme your rom.
Sorry my friend...
You aren't the only one wanting it...
I'd even take a nice CM6 ROM for this device...
But as mentioned... It's just a dream... g

Okay, well shoot. Could you at least tell me that the possibility to get an apk to adapt and work on a newer rom is possible? I ask this because the main reason for me asking a dream question is simply that I love the ultimate mobile armor apk. it is the best privacy apk ever thought of. It was removed for reasons unknown. Back when I had my S3 and I717, it worked on both. Sadly it will not stick on the rooms I run currently. (Cleanrom 5.0, lionrom 2.1, etc.) Could the scripts and such be altered somehow for it to be compatible? On the S3 I always ran cm10 and its stick. Any thoughts, ideas and suggestions that are helpful and or leading to an apk exactly similar to ultimate mobile armour would be greatly appreciated.

Apk alteration is very possible ...
The trick is finding a dev to work it out ...and since apps are owned by their respective creators ...you would need permission from him/her to use or modify the code...
And I've always said it ...
A few emails and pm's go a long way..
Hit up the dev and see what you can learn ...g

Ive looked and searched and I've found nothing from the devs of this apk. Its been completely stricken from the web. What are my other options here as far as these apk Modding concerns go? I've found nothing for secure mobile sadly.
I see...
That being said ...it appears the app has been killed off for legal reasons ??
And lookout mobile is inferior how ??
Most of these security apps are monitored via 3rd party in addition to device activity ...
So it stands to reason that if your service for the apk is dead....it won't work anyway..
Best advice...pick an alternate and move forward....
Lookout and AVG are both exceptional ...and many others are available ..
Norton or Mccaffe possibly too...
Happy hunting ...and sorry I couldn't be of more help...g
