Bricked SGSII Tmobile - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S II SGH-T989

Hey guys some help I bricked the SGSII t989 tmobile and it has the yellow triangle pops up telling me to go to Kies and recover it. I feel really bad now and am downgraded to a google voice and gmail, going to get a G1 tommorrow from a friend.
Any chance someone could post the original firmware zImage md5 so I could flash it back? Any help would be much appreciated. I'm going to try to get some sleep.
Thank you very much for any help and assistance.
A second question - how to get back into download mode I can't access adb and the home/volumedown/power does not work.
EDIT: I just realized that nobody has pulled the zimage yet, in that case there is no smiley appropriate for the moment.

Both hold volumedown and volumeup ,then conect it to your computert with data line。
It will show you download mode option。
otherwise
1、Full power;
2、try 301k Resistance?ok?

how did u brick it? its not even rooted yet???

Why would you use the .TAR file from another Galaxy S II Variant? The other galaxy S II devices have different processors and are running different versions of android and if you go look at the Kernel version on the T-Mobile Galaxy S II its just a number EX: (2.6.35.11) as opposed to a sequence of numbers and letters. You will have to wait till there is a way to root the Galaxy S II for T-Mobile if holding the up and down volume keys and Plugging up to the computer does not work.

Dude. Why would you do something so dumb. The only thing this version shares with other GS2's is the screen.

How is that trial and error? Everyone knew from day 1 those exploits wouldn't work... Seemed obvious to me at least.
As far as the op goes, take it back to Tmobile and play dumb. Don't say a thing about flashing, hopefully they'll replace it.
If not, boned till we get root and someone can compile a flashable stock ROM for you.

Hey doods its all good Tmobile gave me a new one said this is a one time thing.. I go hardcore on my devices. Though when an original zimage comes out I'll edit my top post and add download so this thread could be useful for someone else.

[Q] Possible brick? Any ideas?

Hey guys, I think I screwed up here and I'm wondering if anyone else has had this problem:
Basically, I had a rooted E4G Touch with a custom ROM installed. I went to install ANOTHER custom ROM THROUGH ODIN, as this previous ROM (I believe it was a Calkulin variant) did NOT have CWM recovery. During the ODIN process, something went wrong, and my computer/ODIN...basically, everything froze up while doing the MODEM portion. NOW I can't do anything.
- CWM was able to install on the thing...but it does not recognize my external SD card now. Every time I try to mount it, I get a "Error mounting /emmc".
- I'm still able to get into download mode on the phone, however the phone is not recognized on any computer I've tried. I've attempted multiple computers/USB cords and nothing picks it up.
I'm running out of ideas here. I picked up a USB jig that should be here soon, so I'm going to try that and reset the counter....which leads me to my next question: If I use that, can I take the thing back to Sprint and get a replacement? I have the insurance plan and everything, so if they won't take it back because of the custom software I guess I could always smash it or something...
Any help would be appreciated!

The ROM you flashed through ODIN was for this phone, right?
What custom ROM are you referring to that was available through ODIN?
assuming you flashed the right ROM, start with the basics..if you can get into download mode then try a simple reboot of your computer. Sometimes Odin won't recognize after it has been run

It was the CyanogenMod 9 rom that is out there right now. IN the post (I'm having trouble finding it as I'm not at that computer right now) they had an ODIN variation for people such as myself, where you were to flash that and then go back through to update it to the latest version.

I attempted this as well Went through and rebooted the computer with the phone plugged in. Rebooted with it not plugged in. Plugged the phone in with ODIN on the screen and started it up. Started it up unplugged, went into download mode on the phone, and then plugged it in. Still nothing.
And I just realized I posted this in General and not Q&A...and chance I could get this moved since I am clearly out of my mind right now?

The only odin component involved with flashing CM9 is flashing a gb kernel with a CWM recovery. I haven't seen a cm9 tar, this is why I'm confused. Finding out exactly what you flashed will help in understanding what the problem is.
To flash cm9 you need to odin a gb cwm kernel and then boot to recovery and install cm9. However, that's not a tar, its an update.zip.

Yeah it was definitely a tar.md5 file, which leads me to believe I was incredibly dumb and possibly flashed a ROM for a different model phone. I'm having difficulty finding the post now which is very strange. This could be one of those moments where I take a good hard look in the mirror and figure out just what the heck I was thinking.
I'll keep looking for what exactly I did wrong, but in the mean time is there anything else I could attempt or look for short of attempting that USB jig and making a trip to Sprint? I'm feeling like a huge idiot right now. I've done this how many times now and when I finally make a mistake, it turns out to be huge.

Well ultimately you can try uninstalling / reinstalling drivers. But you say this issue exists across multiple pcs so that likely isn't it.
You can try another cable and see if you have any success with that.
Other then that, it kinda really depends what is in that tar you flashed. Once you find it, post the link, and that will help troubleshoot your issue.

Negative, I started right at the "Using the noob-proof ODIN method:". It said noob-proof and I decided that would be the easiest. It turns out it is very easy...if you're flashing to the correct phone Plus, I'd used ODIN before and felt comfortable with it.

I just downloaded the tar to have a look at whats included.
After flashing this you'll have a bootloader for the intl. sgs2. This is a problem many ran into when original SGS2 leaked tars started surfacing as well.
JTAG might be able to fix it, I'm not sure whether people with this issue were successful or not with JTAG repair as the intl gs2 flashing boat seems to have sailed now. However, a jig will likely do nothing, unfortunately.

Ok thank you for your help on this. You don't think a jig will reset the counter or anything so that I can take it back to Sprint? If not, I'm not above "dropping" it on the ground and using the insurance I have on it for a replacement.

I don't foresee it working only because your phone isn't recognized by your pc and the problem doesnt lie on the pc side.
The problem is instead with the port on the phone which leads me to believe it won't recognize a jig either.
A jtag if successful will leave you with more money in your pocket and a non-returb. Something to consider if you've got a backup phone you can use for a few days.

I don't see sprint replacing it with cm9 On it .... And u will need mobile Odin to get back to stock but with it not mounting the Emmc probably can't do that .... That is your hope to get back to stock using mobile Odin someway .... Triangle away app will reset Odin count but with no radio you need to get apps to do it and no sd from what u said ...maybe tell insurance u lost it and get it replaced
Jtag should work also since there is no emmc failure like the blue light of death bricks ...

[Q] Help! I think I just bricked :( stuck in samsung note II screen.

I have Root via ODIN:
Stock rom from ATT.
I was trying to get the OTA update via suggested the method of copying the update.zip to /cache
Method 1 in this post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=36179045#post36179045
HOwever I got error when copying the file to cache. SOmeone suggested to get into recovery mode and wipe the cache. I could not get into recovery mode. WHen I press UP HOME POWER it just loops throught the "samsung NOTE 2" screen. I i just press power it will get into the phone normally.
I read in a forum that I could get into recovery via GOOMANAGER. I installed it and reboot to recovery and now phone is stuck in ENLESS LOOP of the "samsung NOTE 2" screen. :crying:
I cannot make it boot normally now.I think the phone is stuck trynig to get into recovery similar to the manual method described above. HOw can I break the loop ?
The only screen working right now is ODIN (DOWN +HOME+POWER).
Is there any fix ? please help!
If you cannot get into recovery then flash the odin stock tar while in download mode.

Any idea why the phone looped like that after the goomanager?? or why I could not get into recovery mode in the first place just with root?

1.)Ok, to get root back just go in the dev section and follow instructions, you can use exynos exploit, flash tar, etc.
2.)to get the multi window update, being you are stock you should just be able to do over the air update I believe. Or you could even just root, custom recovery, then flash a ROM that is built with the update built in.
Please research both, they are very easy and there are threads with detailed instructions, I may have skipped a step above so please double check me.
As far as thanks, I do not want to speak for anyone else, but a simple press of the thanks button works for me. I am not a developer, just a user who wants to help other users get the most from their device. I would rather you donate via PayPal to a recognized developer who takes tons of their personal time creating wonderful things for our phones.
That being said, if your wife is attractive, I am not above asking for pics.......just joking. But seriously, pics please.
Wife is beautiful but no pics.. :what:
I will certainly donate to developers Thanks for the suggestion. .

[Q] Galaxy note 2 stuck on Samsung screen, cannot load custom OS.

Alright so first off I already already read about 20 threads on this topic. The problem is that the phone is stuck on the Samsung screen when I try to turn it on. I can go into recovery mode (Home+Down+Power), and ODIN recognizes the phone. When I put the phone in my computer ODIN recognizes it. Now one thing I did when I rooted this phone by accident was put the .tar file in the bootloader part of odin and not the PDA part.
Additional information: Sprint version, US
When I use ODIN to try to load the stock recovery it saus there is no PIT partition
Search around the original Dev threads. I believe there is a post in there that contains the pit files needed for odening the phone.

It seems that there are a number of Straight Talk users who didn't bother to read before flashing. Many have asked but so far it doesn't look like anyone has volunteered the stock firmware.
However, I saw a few forum posts stating that SlimBean worked for them. Might as well try it, nothing to lose at this point.
what is this and how do I use it
I am not sure who but somebody from this forums sent me this file com.android.vending-423.apk. Who ever it was thank I am sure you were trying to help. However I don't know what to do with it. I cant nothing shows on my screen to download a converter off playstore so it hasn't helped but thanks anyway. if somebody could convert it for me I would be grateful. if in fact it is meant for my phone.
That's an apk for the playstore, click it and it installs. It will do absolutely nothing to fix your brick.

[Stock Odin Rom]{How To Use ODIN} attached. N900TMI7& NB4 (4.4.2) (How to use ODIN)

[Stock Odin Rom]{How To Use ODIN} attached. N900TMI7& NB4 (4.4.2) (How to use ODIN)
*****regarding the 4.4 update if u flash in Odin your boot loader will be updated .... Meaning no going back to 4.3***
Here's the stock odin tar downloaded from samfirmware. Mediafire dl link much faster than hotfile http://bit.ly/18Ll149. 4.4 nb4 link
http://www.mediafire.com/download/esadia6synn8s6j/TMB-N900TUVUCNB4-20140305155920.zip
Fyi.. Odin will not factory reset. If you want to start fresh factory reset in recovery before the Odin flash.
1.. Download .tar and Odin to pc (move to desktop)
2.. Extract .zip N900TUVUBMI7_N900TTMBBMI7_TMB-1.zip
3..Run odin as administrator (left click on odin.exe)
4. Put phone into download mode..With phone off press Volume down + home and power (press power button last) ..now press..volume up to enter dl mode..
5.. Connect phone to pc... Wait till drivers install. when completed youll see a yellow ID:COM box light up...
6.. Click on pda and open N900TUVUBMI7_N900TTMBBMI7_N900TUVUBMI7_HOME.tar.md5. ( If you did like i said it will be on you desktop. )
7 Patience.........
When finished it will reboot. on odin a green box should come up saying "passed"
People that havent used Odin before i would suggest using the odin i linked here. Its kinda dumbed down. .. No re-partition options .. If not ***** MAKE SURE TO NOT CHECK ANYTHING ELSE EXCEPT AUTO REBOOT*****....
Link to odin 1.85 https://www.dropbox.com/s/s7t92nmy95kh3d9/Odin3-v1.85-1.zip
***I will keep this post updated with stock firmware's as they become available***

I need to know how can I just remove /system/csc/languages.xml and repack and flash.
does this change your warranty from 0x0 to 0x1 ?
any brave souls ?
This is the exact rom that you get on your phone. No need to flash unless you need to fix it or go back to stock

If he does not do it I will look into it. Here is a ROM I made for the Sprint Note II http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1990681. I stopped updating it because my wife was always on me about spending all my time on the computer but since my divorce was final on Monday I have a little more free time.

My wife says I touch my phone more than I touch her - but when I explained that most of the time I was touching my girl friend and that she shouldn't worry about my phone, things got really ugly.

Ditto, also having the same issue. One of the solution was to install the latest Play Store apk, but obviously we have the latest. Then I found another thread here on xda where it apparently went away the following morning.
Seems like it ain't working on my S4 either even though I was able to install an app couple hours ago.

Seems like you quoted me before my edit. lol. It's also not working on my S4, so it might be on Google's side from what I'm experiencing, but I'll wait and see the response you get from him.

Well i have my SG3 on Sprint, works fine there (older version of playstore) and root wasnt by Chainfire(dont think at least)
So I dont think its googles side....hopefully this gets resolved quick.

Seems like a reboot fixed it on my S4. I'm able to update apps on that one now.
Also just tested with the Note 3, I rebooted and was able to download an app. I still think it was on Google's side, but that's only an assumption or it could be because these two devices are using my primary gmail account.

I didnt reboot, it just started auto updating stock apps. Looks like it might have been Google.
Either way this Odin works. thanks OP for hosting it on mediafire, hotfile always takes forever for me. :good:
As this is the first Odin firmware tar I will move this to development
Future releases would need to go in General.
