Really like my anker 1900mah batteries - Galaxy S II Accessories

I got the charger and 2 batteries from amazon, and have been running them for over a week now. In that time, my phone had not touched a charger! lol
So far they last a long time and do not heat up. NO JOKE, my phone is 27 hours with 33% left, with light to medium use.... that's reading mu pules blogs, playing some games, surfing the web, chacking emails, and facebook, using it as a flashlight a few times and checking out the market for new apps. The batteries are good quality as far as I can tell.
running wanama light ROM or whatever, with nephetamine kernel.

Are these batteries the same size as the original?

1900mah, I got 1 day 14 hours out of my battery with good use, and switched my battery and I just kept on trucking! lol My review is on amazon as well.

I meant are they the same physical size as the original 1650mah samsung batteries, or will you need a larger back case

same size. you use your existing back case your phone came with. I find it lasts slightly longer then stock.
After a couple of cycles the battery takes 6-7hrs to trickle charge in the dock charger.
But its hardly an inconvenience when you have 50% battery in your phone and a spare battery in your back pocket just incase and a battery charging at home on the dock charger.
and I never have to connect my phone to a charger either.
Great!

Anyone here been using them for more than a month and noticed a drop in capacity?

screenshot of battery usage? =D (specifically display-on time)

Just got these in. I'll report in a few days how these act under heavy usage. ie 3+ hours screen time

Nice to see another member from sg. I have used to for almost 2 weeks now.
So here's what I think. (its not an official benchmark test)
Using CM7 and launcher pro
Wifi or 3g switched on all the time
No GPS
Alarm Clock Plus running the whole night.
Casual games and surfing.
No video watching.
No calls, no text,
About 2 hours of music
24 hours later, ~15% left.
This performance is about the same as the stock battery, so you should not expect a drastic improvement. But with a total of 3 batteries including stock, you can pretty much do whatever you want during the day and charge when you need to.
One good thing about this arrangement. You are always charging your battery only when its empty, so i suppose battery life will last longer?
For the price and functionality, its a very good buy.
Update: It does heat up considerably when i stream videos and battery life dropped 15-20% for every 25 min of streaming. It could be a rom thing and not the battery's fault.

Aside from how well the battery performs, which I won't comment on as I don't own one, your statement about 'charging your battery only when its empty, so i suppose battery life will last longer?' is actually incorrect.
Lithium-ion batteries are more conducive to a partial discharge than a full one. The only time you ever full discharge your battery is to calibrate the battery meter, normally once every few weeks of use. Constantly draining the battery to 0 and then recharging it will actually harm lithium-ion batteries.
As stated here, http://batteryuniversity.com/learn/article/charging_lithium_ion_batteries 'Lithium-ion does not need to be fully charged; a partial charge is better.'

Thanks! Where did you get your batteries from may i ask?

I've had my anker battery for well over 2 months now... Runs cool (Almost never heats up), and with very heavy usage, lasts me all day... I can go 2-3 days on one charge if I just use it for calls + texting lightly. Love it!

Anyway do you guys fully discharge your battery on the first use? as i assume they come mildly charged.. I'm waiting for my batteries to come!! so excited

Sorry to disappoint, I am studying in the states so its a simple click on ebay.
Here's the link http://www.ebay.com/itm/Anker-Batte...ccessories&hash=item336b95eea6#ht_4700wt_1200
They did mention that they ship world wide so you will have to ask them. PM if you have more questions since I seldom check this post.

I should have wrote a disclaimer that I am not 100% certain if that increases batt life. I am not so sure that it'll harm the battery if you perform full charge discharge, but i do know that the cycle means you are using pretty much calibrated battery all the time. For people interested in finding out more, that article is a good reference. Make your own judgement after reading it.
Thank you for posting the article btw!

Thanks for the eBay link!
I just ordered mine literally two minutes ago from Amazon.com. Don't know why I forgot to check eBay. I guess I was going to buy a few things for Amazon anyway. Hope I can still cancel my Amazon order as it's $10 cheaper to order from ebay.

Ive had mine for a few weeks now and definitely better than the stock ones for sure! I have not charged my phone at all since I got this lol

Important to note that you can't charge these in the phone, and you have to use the external charger. I can see that being inconvenient in some cases

Firmware version related to battery life?

Since there now seem to be a few different firmware versions floating around, shall we see if any of them give better battery life.
Of course we don't have an objective measure of battery life, but we cna get an impression.
My experience:
TMobile UK f/w 1.15.110.10
Battery poor - It needs topping up through the day or I won't make it to teatime, worse than my Touch HD which was 18m old. Similar usage, ie push email, Twitter sync, intermittent browsing, an hour a day ebook reading.
T-mobile UK same firmware
Battery fine, much better than my old G1, need to charge every other day (as opposed to everyday/overnight each day).
Uses (per day):
Push Email
Light Web browsing
About an hour of gaming
About 40 SMS sent
Twitter/Facebook constantly
About 2 hours of music usage - Spotify
Music using BT Earphones, Bluetooth on around 2.5 hours.
That's a big difference in battery life between you two, I wonder if there is a bad batch of batteries?
I think it has nothing to do with batteries or software. It's all about how the phone is used, what the signal strength is, etc.
Mine lasts two days on moderate use, but I charge it every night anyway.

I also have the matrix style live wallpaper running http://www.cyrket.com/p/android/fishnoodle.digitalrain/.
It may be worth noting that I no longer charge overnight, only charging when it's low and until it's fully charged (I used to charge my G1 overnight or basically when I was on the desk, it became overcharged, battery swelled up, would only last about 2 hours but sometimes it would last about 10 minutes).
I also have no problems with signal and am pretty much constantly on HSDPA.

how long full charge takes ? at what battery % you start to charge ur phone?
did you charge till full since you first unbox your phone?
I have my brightness set to half way and have watched a few movie clips lasting maybe 20 mins and have just done a bit of brief messing about and i find the battery drains to about half way after this.
I have not let it drain out yet but it does not look like it would last a day if i had to listen to music surf and do a bit of gaming.

My firmware is same but battery is brilliant for me, try using a power manager and maybe look at widgets draining battery. I'm not using any widgets and have net off when not in use.
I wonder if it's about signal strength. By far the biggest drain on a smartphone is 3G, and my signal is quite variable.

I've just came back from Austria where I was using the net a lot over there for various things and I can tell you now, the signals over there are top notch!
The speeds remain consistent and the signals never go down by more than by one bar.
The T-Mobile network works perfectly even in the Underground!
This I feel had contributed to my battery lasting so long the last 3 days!
I've already noticed more of a drain since being back at home today!

I think if you continually charge from when you have 30-90% the battery will perform worse than if you charge it from dead / near dead. I have been charging my tp2 over night when the battery is extremely low and can now squeeze 3-4 days use out of it.

It doesn't really matter with Li-ion batteries. It is recommended to do a full discharge every 30 charge cycles or so for the gauge to recalibrate, but the battery itself has no "memory" effect.
There's no difference if you charge it from 70% or 15%

That must cost a fair bit on the data doesn't it?
I've found with my T-Mobile Desire that the battery is really struggling and I can't get it to last a day as yet. I spent 3 hours with a friend that has an unbranded one and I saw my T-Mobile rom'd battery life deplete faster than his doing the same things. I think the T-Mobile ROM needs an update asap!
Since my last post, my battery the last few days has been bad.
I've also noticed now that it will only charge up to 98% and will only go to 100% if i remove cable and put back in. Then only to drop back to 98% straight away after I have removed it and then drop rapidly.
On T-Mobile using the older firware. Have asked T-Mob if the Firmware is the issue.
My honest guess is that all you guys will see an improvement in battery life over the next few days. Li-on batteries do need a few cycles before they'll give best performance and obviously no-one here has had their phone for more than a week or two.
I'm sure as the phone is rooted/custom roms appear/htc release the kernel/blah blah improvements will be made, but if I were you I'd definitely sit out any changes made purely on the basis of battery life until you've had the phone a couple of weeks. If it's still crappy after that, then it's obviously worth looking deeper.
I'm on tmob contact phone with my firmware version @ *.11 think some ppl have *.10 so not sure if the ota update will come to me but I've found that if I turn everything to manual update and turn 3g off when not using it I can get 3 days out of it with about 1 and a half hours each day of general use. Before that it wasn't lasting a full day! What firmware is every1 on??

Mine is .10 - the Battery at first was really good, I used it abroad in first few days and was great, 3G was used everynow and then, but wasn't a drain like it is over here in UK.
Now i'm getting last few days were on charge it sticks at 98% and drops pretty quickly.
T-Mob have asked me to factory reset it today and monitor to see if any apps are causing the issue rather than the firmware.

argh batteries and smartphones

well i was talked into a desire by a friend, really impressed with evertying apart from battery life, currently i have 3 batteries that i keep charged so while im out and about i have spares, but its a bit of a pain swapping them constantly plus the matter of charging, so im looking for a new bigger better battery, does anyone know of a good bigger battery?
Any help would be great, thanks in advance..

There are no extended batteries that produce the same result as 3 stock batteries combined. Or even 2 combined. Best performence I've seen is a <50% increase in battery life (iirc). Your best bet is sticking with the 3 spare ones and swapping them out when they are empty. Extended batteries aren't particularly cheap either. You might also wanna try to change some settings that increase battery life, underclock your phone, or even install a custom ROM. Sense has been known to suck quite a bit of battery compared to stock Android ROMs.

Ouch! You have really poor battery life!
I consider myself a reasonably heavy user, and I get get 30+ hours from my stock battery.
The problem with spare batteries is always going to be that you have to switch the phone off to change them - this is a pain.
When I travel, I use a Veho pebble which can charge my Desire around 3 times.
It's small enough and light enough that I can carry it around with me, and I can plug it into the phone and charge it whilst they are both in a jacket pocket.

Not playing a game for 5 hours for starters!
I use my phone for phone calls, web browsing, apps, and an hour or two of video a day, and I regularly chalk up 30+ hours. The only concession I make to battery life is I switch the phone to airplane mode overnight.

i can easly send 150+ sms a day and maybe 2hrs of calls, i dont put my device in aeroplane mode over nite but i only usually loose 2-5% so im not bothered, anyways if i could get 30 hrs out of my stock battery i wouldnt of paid nearly £90 for my mugen power battery lol
If I don't use my Phone (it is also undervolted, underclocked and switches from 3G to 2G automatically if not in use for more than 10 minutes), it lasts around 3 days max (WiFi off). Normally it lasts 2 days with me phoning, writing messages, surfing a bit and having WiFi on in background.
But of course, if I use it excessively, it lasts only around a "workday".
well thanks for all the replies, cant find anything that dont make my phone look stupid so im going to stick with having spare batteries, everything i do there is no way i can get mine to last even a full day, so maybe i just use my phone too much. haha

Got an extended battery...

...and its wicked (IMO..I've heard others not have good luck with them..)
Basically, I've gotten 22 hours of fairly heavy use.. web surfing, Facebook, gaming (order and chaos mostly) among other things....using auto-brightness.
Now that I have another battery...I'm going to unlock/root and get to work flashing like I did on my DX.
A question though.. If I use my extended battery exclusively, and keep my standard battery as backup... Will my standard slowly discharge over time not being plugged in? Idk much about batteries..
Thanks so much,

It will yes, expect it to loose approx 30% over a period of a year being idle. Nothing to worry about.
Oh okay. So popping it in once a month should keep it up then?
I just want to be sure I have one handy because I once got into a corner with my DX where I needed a full battery to .sbf and mine was half dead and wouldn't work...so I had to hunt a friend who also had a DX down to fix it lol. Just want to be sure I don't run into the same problem >.>

It will lose very little capacity not being used. He meant it will lose charge just sitting there. Just don't let it sit empty. Or at full charge.

You should be fine, lithium-ion batteries hold their charge pretty well. I've not actually tested them before, but try charging it to full and then booting up to see the charge in 28 days later, might be interesting to see.
I know my Nikon D7000 batteries hold their charge very well, I tend to leave one in the camera and discharge the one in the battery grip first and just use the battery for a month or so and swap them around. In the same sort of time, 28 days I can lose up to six percent this time of year, but I am going out everyday in temperatures as low as -12°C, so it's to be expected.

For this Id like to know some additional information... what widgets you have running. Stock or ROM and what kernel. As well as settings like display, sync timing etc.
If you want to store your LiIon battery it's best for the battery to have ~40% charge. The battery will age the slowest this way.
Do not store it at 100% or 0%. Check every 6 months and recharge to ~40% if necessary.

This also reinforces what I've heard. Store these type of batteries around 1/2 charge never full never empty.

[Q] Battery Life....I Just Don't Get It

Hello,
I know, I know, there are many threads on the battery issue. But I'm struggling just too hard with this. I've researched and read every thread on xda and other forums elsewhere to glean as many tips as possible which has certainly helped, but something just doesn't seem right.
Currently I'm using a battery saver app - Easy Battery - which does help considerably during idling and off-use periods - the DINC at least has some charge left to make a few calls and check voicemail when I'm finished on the job site and going home, but when actually using the device it seems like I can just watch the battery drain down - it's really disheartening.
My device details are below. I'm using the best performing kernel I've found after much trial and research. I've deleted about 10 - 14 resident system apps to improve performance - the DINC is as bareboned as it can get. Maybe I can delete a few others still.
I understand JB is more of a battery drain, but can it be this bad? After a full night's charge, I wake up and check my mail in bed, some quick online news browsing, looked at one or two video clips, 5-10 minutes each. I spent about 20 minutes on the phone. Looking at my screenshot, the battery's drained 40%, IN 37 MINUTES!!!
Also, some hours of the day the battery life seems better...? Sometimes I can perform general tasks on the phone, watch a few video clips, do some reading for an hour straight sitting over a pint and there seems to be comparatively little drain at all, certainly not 40% worth of battery drain in a half hour. I just don't get it.
Am I need of a new battery? Is there a super battery for the DINC? Should I be limiting the number of 'recent apps' in the Recent Apps switcher? Is there another Performance setting I'm overlooking? I/O scheduler setting?
Please, please, what can I do - any additional tips would be greatly appreciated. I love the DINC. For me, it's the perfect sized phone that I like, outside of any device functionality at all. Maybe I'm moving on though. Ugh.

my response in
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1988470
if you have the original Dinc 1400 mah battery, maybe your battery just doesn;t hold a charge anymore.
what I do is I don;t even charge my batteries in the phone really. i find that when I charge the battery in the phone, the battery drains quicker. I bought an universal external charger and rotate a couple of 3500 mah batteries after running them down completely. I carry a spare with me if I need but usually my phone lasts into the next day.
you can get 3500 mah batteries for about 5$ or so on eBay(last I checked). the universal charger goes for 9.99 on NewEgg or Amazon. good investment
What I've done on CM10 to try to extend battery life:
Keep my screen locked at 25% brightness but can toggle into 100% or auto when necessary. On CM9 (before I was crack-flashing CM10) I played with auto-brightness levels that were discussed in this thread and they did help. 'Auto' is normally too bright for me, anyways.
Turned off background location reporting in Maps. This will neuter some things in Google Now, tho. You can see how often your phone "checks in" here.
I used SmartAssV2 on CM9 but went to interactive on CM10. No quantitative data that it helped battery life, but it passed my eyeball test after a week+ on both. My phone is flaky on under/overclock so I keep it at 245/998.
I leave 3G on, WIFI on, GPS off, BT off 99% of the time.
Hmm, great suggestions. An external charger(though I'd prefer not to be regularly opening the casing, I'll look into it); 3G radio off; locking brightness at 25%, toggling when necessary; background reporting off. I'll also keep experimenting with a governor and try a week on interactive. A really great kernels guide: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1369817.
I have a spare original battery so I've got that in and giving it a powered-off charge. See how that does on top of other adjustments.
BTW Both batteries I own are model BTR6300B 3.7VDC -- 1300mAh 4.81Whr - tekweezle mentioned a 1400mAh battery and other available batteries that are at 3500 mAh now - I guess I'm looking into new batteries as well -
cheers for the responses -
I recommend just getting a new battery on ebay for 5$. Also get juicedefender it doubles my battery life. Also try tiny/pons cm10 rom that has great battery life.
Definitely getting a new battery; I'm already using tiny's rom which continues Pons' CM10 rom builds. Really great -
cheers
Obviously, if you are using your phone non stop, you'd be lucky to get 6-8 hrs of usage. But the true indicator of what a phone does is how often you don't have to be attached to a wall outlet or hunting for one.
I don't know if others get similar results as me but this is more or less typical of me with light to moderate usage-checking email, Facebook, some Web browsing, occasional phone call or text message plus leaving my phone on overnight in stand by.
By the way, how I am on pons/tiny 12-9-12 and working well.

btw, this is the external battery charger I am using. awesome thing is that it charges at 600 mah so my 3500 mah batteries charge up in 4-5 hrs or so. since it has moving pins, you will be able to use this to charge any flat battery for any cell phone or camera you might buy in the future.
the SEIDO HTC EVO modified one I got on ebay charges at 500 mah and for some reason it takes 8-11 hours to charge a battery and I am finding out now that it doesn;t even charge them completely even when it thinks they are completely charged. i take a battery that is charged in this and put it in my other charger and still needs charging of about 10 percent!

I get something similar, probably a little worse, in send/recv about 50-100 texts a day and checking 2 gmail and 1 exchange account constantly. My battery does tank when I'm actively using the phone and really all I can do there is manage the brightness of the screen. I've been doing my tweaking to try to increase battery life when I'm not using the phone. In 7 hours last night it only went down 3%. When I first started using JB it was 10-12% a night.
Great, great info - love these forums, and I love android!
tekweezle - could you tell me exactly which 3500 mah battery you're using with your DINC? Also - no issues whatsoever with the pons/tiny 12-9-12? I thought I saw a few things reported with the 11-28-12 and stayed away from it, staying with the 11-25-12.
cheers!
i have an expensive SEIDO battery that I bought from Amazon in the beginning for about 59$. Never thought the capacity was all that great till i found out that my battery wasn;t even being charged completely. not really worth the money but at the time, it was all that was available

The others, i just bought generic flavor of the day batteries off of eBay for 5$ each. basically throw away items. just search for HTC 3500 mah Incredible battery and you should get some hits.

no real operational issues yet with 12-09-12 Rom. minor annoyances with video playback. actually, the still camera works fine but video camera doesn't save files.

Battery reviews

I know the HTC One has been around a while on other carriers. Has anyone seen any reviews on how long the battery lasts?
I saw decent battery life in other reviews. One thing that caught my eye as a negative was that it had very slow charging times compared to other phones.

The slow charging time was in an early 4.1.2 build. It has been fixed though already in a previous update.
I read they turned off the fast charge mode for it, I think in an effort to make the battery lifespan last longer.
I read that it slowly charges the battery on purpose. It allows the battery to last longer since it's not removable. Apparently the fast charge fries batteries pretty quick.

Fast charging a battery phone is not really going to fry it... but there is truth that if you slow charge a battery, it will last longer.
I had the HTC One on T-Mobile for a while before switching back to Verizon and it got through the day with moderate to heavy usage. Overall you should be able to get a day out of it at least

What do you have now? Would you recommend the HTC one?

Power Saver
Did Verizon remove Power Saver from their model? I can't find a setting anywhere. I know that 4.2.2 removed it from the notification screen, but it's not under the battery settings either. Anybody know?

I'm back to the HTC One. The only reason I gave it up was T-Mobile coverage was terrible in my area
OK...My first full charge from 100%...the results???
I'm at 6% after 7 hrs 53 Mins
After a full days work (8 hrs) w/ my S4, I usually have about 65% left...I am hoping it will get better!

What was your screen on time? The only other reason I can think of that contributed to this was all the setting up, syncing, and downloading that you may have been doing on this first full charge (unless you did that all of that prior to this full charge)
Edit: Nonetheless, thanks for sharing. Hopefully it is indeed going to be much better than that on a regular basis.
It'll be a few weeks before I can tell if the phone's batter is any good. I'm spending a lot of time on it.

Yea they did, there is a Qualcomm snapdragon specific power saver app in the play store that is supposed to be a viable replacement.

All I know is that in the first few days to a week of me having a new phone, I get horrible, HORRIBLE battery life. Why? Because it's shiny, it's new, it's interesting!
Give it a few days to a week and you will be back to mostly normal usage. I know that after the initial new phone excitement goes away, my battery life usually doubles.
Not to mention the battery cycle break in. I'm not sure if it's real or not, some people say it is, some say it isn't, but apparently it takes a few charge and discharge cycles for your battery to get to a normal state?

I read somewhere (pretty sure anandtech) that with these new batteries, it is advised against fully discharging. The optimal state is to charge it when it hits 75% ish.
If a battery dies, it dies, but you should not be purposefully killing it. I'll try to find the article, but I'm busy at work right now.

I don't know where you heard that, but for Lithium Ion batteries, over-discharging happens when you are around 2V or less... most phones will turn off when the battery gets to around 3.2V
Fully charged is roughly 4.2V
Most of these batteries are good for 250 to 400 charge cycles, It doesn't matter whether you are at 1% or 80%, the phone will stop charging once it gets to 100% since you cant trickle-charge Li-Ion batteries

From what I've heard the battery is good for a day at best.
I've been debating One vs. Maxx for a few days... so confused... Battery Life vs. Sexy!
Just got my HTC One from Verizon. I am coming from a Note 2 which got excellent battery life but the phone was huge. The battery life is actually decent. I had the DROID dna and the battery life on that was horrible. So far it's pretty decent.
