Notification LED like Blackberrys - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

I'm wondering if the galaxy nexus has a notification LED like blackberrys have.
Some sources say yes other say no.
I'd love to get this awesome device with a LED.

That's the answer I hoped to hear.
Thank you.
The position at the bottom is quite nice.

Someone know if the led can be of different colors, like the Nexus One's one ?

From what I've heard it will be a RGB notification light, just like in the N1.

Me too
But, is known if the phone must be rooted to change the led's color? or is a standard feature of ICS ?

Don't think we are going to know until someone has a chance to go through all the ICS settings. I wouldn't put them past it though, as it was a pretty in demand feature even back when the N1 was released.

I'm thinking about a hack to make the LED run permanently in your favourite colour, I'm sure it would look really nice

I doubt you will need to root to change the led color.

I am so happy there's an LED like the N1.
I'm not sure I can imagine using a phone without one now.

I know it's a bit off topic.
Does rooting increases the security level?
I think yes because every root requestion needs to be allowed by me. Is that right or am I wrong?

Without root this questions are not shown, that's right. But without root this not shown questions are always answered with NO by the system! The security level is higher without root, because you cannot grant root to an app which might not do (only) what you expect.

If not search on ebay
Good luck,
Lol thanks, but I'll try to clarify better.
I have the 2nd edition dash from Tmo.
I want to get rid of its black exterior and replace it with maybe a translucent blue one.
Kinda like case modding for consoles.
no idea.. but i'd probably be interested in your stock black case if you are able to do this.
Yeah, IF I can find it xD
Oh well, maybe I'll google for a while.
That a cool idea, I had a clear housing back in the day on my V3 with one of those flashing batterys. It was phat. Ill help your search, Ill post if i find something.

Haha, I try xD
i cant use any case cause im usin a 2200 mah battery
Ehh, I wouldn't mind having a translucent case with a black back, especially since it helps my phone from sliding across tables and what not.

Found this today when I woke up...

Maybe I've been spending too much time playing with my new phone.

Hmm.. this makes me sad face too as I used to call my ex (Randa) panda.. memories
It's funny how popular the nickname Panda is. I never realized.
We all got new devices recently, wife has a tablet also so she has not been on my case lately but Im still using a SGS.
Take it from a guy married for several years. Set up a date night really soon and dont touch your phone the whole time. Big time points to be earned!
Was it you or her that put the phone screen side down?

Question about notification light area

The google play store sent me another galaxy nexus. I have seen the phone in person at two verizon stores and i have seen the original nexus the google play store sent me. With this new one i have you can see where the notification light bulb is, the circle and bulb while it's turned off and not in use. All the other ones i have seen it is invisible and you can't see it at all. has anyone else seen a phone like this?
this is what the new one looks like

Ditto on my Sprint Galaxy Nexus. I can't even see it looking for it.
I have to look really close with a flashlight to see mine. But it's very hard to see even with the flashlight.
another defect i suppose
I can see it on my Galaxy nexus but is slightly bur I can't capture with my 4S camera it looks like yours could be defected or something. Does it work tho? I and if does does it bother you?

I guess what is odd that its different in the first place, if you have a 100 of something and there all the same and that 101 is off it sorta makes you think why?
My first device has banding issues that aren't great at all, but i'm keeping it. I have seen worse in other threads. I have sent pics of all the problems i have had to google, this way maybe they can check out whats going on with qc over at sammy. I think the problem may be these devices are made in china and the international devices i think are made in Korea. but then again alot of people are having problems no matter which they have!
One thing i will say is googles cs has been great they are very nice and seem willing to help! i don't blame google i blame sammy! sigh but life goes on, there bigger things in life its just a cellphone!!
BTW, thanks everybody for the replies!!

As you can see there are some strange dark layers on the screen (left side and in the middle).
Can anyone let me know how this can be fixed?
My phone is not under warranty so no option of replacement.
AW: Display Issues - Layers
It's something like a "amoled" feature. My gnex has the keyboard visible on a white background. Someone made an app that turned the brightness to 100% on a white background, that fixed it for some days/months.

My friend's nexus doesn't have it.
The issue is noticeable even at 100% brightness.

you cannot fix your issue with software. END OF STORY.
you can do a replacement, but you would have to pay for it. either pay someone to do it, or replace it yourself.

it might. you also might get another bad screen.
no idea. amazon/ebay would be a good place to start for the screen by itself.
Hey. You have a screen burn. Try and get the screen replaced from a gray market shop. This is an issue with AMOLED screens. If you keep something on for too long, it creates an image burn on the screen.

It should be like the Nextbit Robin, on the bottom of the phone so when it's layed flat it shines on the desk and towards you.
Probably one of the speaker grill hole is a led noti.

I'm betting you're right just based on the Robin-like design. To the right of the bottom microphone. Nearly invisible until the light shines.

Just seen here on this video (sorry dont know what language it is) of a flashing light between the camera/sensors on the top front.

looks quite cool, wonder of we can change it to green

I'm fairly certain this is an IR LED used for autofocusing the front camera. Probably not a notification LED.
LED is not in the middle of the camera, that's a reflection from his other recording device, not the phone. It's in between the two as seen here. (From my own phone). It is not very bright though at all. The picture looks brighter than it does to the human eye.
For those worried about it waking you or your spouse at night, don't. It's not nearly bright enough to do that and that is a good thing for most people. However if you rely heavily on the notification led, it is not bright enough to see from an angle, only directly.
