Can some solve my problem - Epic 4G Apps

I have an app called mini diary and i decided to make a daily diary entry on my phone to practoce typing on it.
The problem is that there is a 1000 character limit. This sucks cause well i like writing diary entries the size of small essays so it takes 2-3 entries just to write what i want to.
Can some one modify the app to get rid of the character limit or atleast in crease it to atleast 2500

I may be a complete noob to decompiling and building an apk, looking through all the xml never do the specific numbers pop up for the apk

Have you tried emailing the developer?

I've had hands-on experience on C++, I'm sure Java doesn't differ too much. However, I don't have a laptop snappy enough to handle the android sdk & eclipse software, also, unless decompiling the apk puts it back to full source code, to my knowledge, it isn't as simple as an xml edit, HOWEVER it doesn't make much more difficult either, you just search through the code for the proper class that contains such information in limit, or perhaps another terminology used by its creator/dev and once found, you change its values to meet your needs, and then recompile. This however should be emailed to the dev, and if its something you want to tackle for yourself, (which anyone can for this type of edit)legally speaking, you should contact the dev for permission to make such modifications to his/her app, (unless his work is opensource then you're ok) otherwise, he's protected by any type of reverse engineering, aka decompiling.

I think the dev is sammy

Can you solve this??

This is one of the questions on a Google or Microsoft application to work as a programmer. Can anyone solve this without looking it up or cheating. Obviously we wont know if u did or not. This is just for fun.
“Write a
function that takes a string consisting of
numeral characters and returns all possible
alpha character strings of same length as input
that correspond to the keypad of a typical
telephone.

Hell i could write that function in a sh script, c, c+ +, vb, java, javascript, php... Thats a very simple function, hard to believe thats a prerequisite for employment as a developer

Yeah I saw that today. Thought I'd share it. Wish I had a tutor like you for school.

Anyway to change the names of apps?

I thought this would be very useful for those of us who install apps with suggestive names, maybe even good for tricking friends saying you downloaded the new angry birds game before it even came out. Lol XD I do understand there is a reason there is a password lock for keeping people out your phones, but unfortunately there are those who demand access such as kids, siblings, parents, significant others.

Ummm I think you'd have to decompile the apk and edit it somewhere. If you want a quick fix you could just change the name with the launcher but if you want a long term then edit the apk.

Extracting icons from roms

I was curious if anyone could assist in helping me pull a 4g data icon from a ROM, I use different ROMs all the time, but find different aspects I like from others, I was curious how I could do that and input it into another ROM.
Thanks

Anyone at all, there has to be some dev or someone out there that has some leading information at least, maybe that kitchen program can do this, just want a point in the right direction.
Sent from my SGH-I747 using xda app-developers app
Its not that simple. You have to decompile apks, make your edits then recompile. That's a super simplified overview
OK well I appreciate your response, from what I read on the kitchen forum it does talk about being able to compile your own customizations to preexisting ROMs or taking pieces of other ROMs and compiling your own version, probably requires a lot more practicing with said program.

App like snote that syncs

If this should be in questions, I apologize. Is anyone familiar with an app that would be very close to our snote (stylus capability) that would sync with Google.

What part of Google?

Maybe sync to Google was the wrong way to put it. What I was thinking, was I noticed that when I flashed a new ROM, and brought up the S note app use, all of my old notes we're still there. For that I was very grateful because I forgot to backup the app.
I use a stylus a lot because I use it to draw up drills for soccer practice, to take notes on the sideline during matches in things to cover at half time, training session ideas for my clients , warm up ideas for class, and etc.

Still confused, what are you asking it to sync to? What part of Google? Calendar?

I'm sorry; my wording is off. My brain is fried after literally pulling an all nighter to finish my last projects and finals in my educational law and multimedia design classes.
Essentially I want something similar to the S note app where I can use my stylus and has cloud syncing/saving capabilities

Doesn't S-note already sync? I know ive flashed my rom several times (clean) and always my stuff is still there without any sort of restore from TiBu etc.. my guess is that it is syncing maybe to samsung? i know ive logged into my samsung acct as i set up the new rom... and each time everything is there in s-note.. so that would be my guess.. but regardless of who it is doing it with, i think s-note does what you are asking i think.. unless (as above) you are trying to sync it specific to something like google calendar or something
It does sync. However, I am thinking about flashing a ROM that does not have s note app. So I will need to find an alternative

gotcha.. at a loss then.. sorry dont know
evernote should work well as you make an account (and it autofills with your gmail address) and they sync across all devices (i have notes from 2009 lol) i dont know if theres much of a sketchpad type deal with it but i think you can draw if you set the note up right

Is it possible port a jb or ics app to gb?

With any kind of knowhow is it by ay chance possible to port a Ics+ app for gb.
Or perhaps I would need the source?

Wish to know too, Greenify on GB roms would be awesome!
Set "android:minSdkVersion="9"" (or 10 for 2.3.7) in your AndroidManifest.xml
inspect the code to make sure you're not calling any APIs that aren't available in gb. If you are, fix the code, either by disabling the relevant functionality or providing alternative implementations. You're also going to have to make some changes to the XML layout files. And probably a few more things.
As far as getting source code, google it, there are many methods, easiest probably dex2jar.
