Where and how? - Acer Iconia Tab A100

Where and how can I find and install a tablet version of XP or vista as a dual boot on my A100.
Crazy, I know, but if its possible, I'd like to do it!
ummmmm............ could you repeat that?

I strongly agree with your second sentence.
Really Best to ya.

Haha, yea. The only reason I asked was because I saw an add from tigerdirect where they were pitching a dual boot tablet. Don't remember what it was called, it was in an email, and we all know where those go..............................

Not possible on an ARM device, not with any currently available version or Windows.

Its my signature on the xda premium app. Its kind of a joke, I constantly make people repeat what they say because when it first crosses my ears, it sounds like gibberish. Don't know why, don't know how to fix it.

I've seen the same tiger direct emails. The tablet you saw is the Viewsonic Viewpad 10. It does indeed dualboot windows 7 and android

Then stop being such a lazy f***er and go and find it.
FFS, it's not difficult to use the search button at the top of the page, is it???!!?!?!!!?!
Why you would need an instant messaging program though, is beyond me as someone who is as obviously brain dead as you can't possibly have anyone who wants to talk to them.

I have seen it on some video, ... go to the leap view, .... and click and hold one of the screens, .. and then move it
That's what I thought (and remember seeing it done somewhere) but it doesn't seem to work.

yeah true, .. but its so annoying XP ... i saw it in some vid, i wannaaa doooo iiiitttttt xP
i dont have the desire yet btw Lol
There is nothing about this in the full manual so it's most probably not possible unless it's hidden.
I swear i saw it in some vid I even remember which screen the guy moved
it was the right-bottom empty screen, he hold it and started to move it around!!! i know its nothing, but its so annoying, ..its one of those things that you have seen and want to remember wheree and when
anyone managed to do it? .. I still think that i was NOT dreaming when i saw that vid that i cant find

This poster seems to think they can do it:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=6017438&postcount=18
You probably saw it on a vid of the N1 running Desire ROM.
I believe there was a mod on that ROM which allowed you to move homescreens around from leap.
It can be done but you have to move it peice by piece. Each widget can be moved so what i was reffering to is say the bookmark page can be moved to another screen.
You cannot change the order of the screens as far as I know, no previous android phone has had this ability and nobody Outside this thread has even suggested you can. I think some people may have confused the "helicopter View" that allows you to display all screens and jump directly to any screen with the ability to rearrange them.
yeah im reffering to being able to move any widgets. could start from blank and re-arrange it to how ever you want.
You can do this but only on the Desire ROM ported to the N1. paulobrien, the developer behind the Desire port, already told us that this "long press a homescreen and swap it around" trick isn't available on actual Desires.
He's getting a Desire, though, so when/if the Desire is rooted I'm sure you guys will get this feature ported too. Kind of ironic, no?

Yep! You simply press and hold the screen you want to change and drag it to the remove bin at the bottom of the screen. You then replace it by clicking the "+" button bottom right of home screen, and choose from the list of widgets. I put on HTC calendar and photo album as two of my 7 screens. It is SO EASY to use this phone!
I don't think you understand. He means the ability to move around each homescreen, widgets/shortcuts and all, without needing to delete widgets/shortcuts and putting new ones on. You're thinking about long-pressing a widget or shortcut, not long-pressing a screen.
What's being discussed is quite different. It's like this:

Hi,
Sorry to be such a noob but what are the advantages of rooting?
And if I was thinking of doing it, why would I?
Sorry again ... I am a newbie
@Raminder1992
Plenty of advantages to root but in order to understand them and the whole process you need to search the forums with reference to other handsets to give you an idea, if we answer your questions it only leads to more new members posting basic questions in what is a development forum that currently is hanging on what happens next with the desire rooting process.
In other words click the search button and take some time to read or you'll just annoy those of us that desperate for progress on this handset.

Simple:
root=administrative rights to the system........ basically the same thing in your computer when you have administrative account...
normal mode is like a normal windows user account where you have possibility to (un)install software but you cannot change the system
So the final piece in the puzzle is about to be delivered. I'm buying it!

there are many, many reasons, but to give a few examples. firstly, those of us not in regions where google allow us to access the paid apps, we can change that by a few parameter settings, we can also change where we're from, if a developer wanted to block out our region, for whatever reason. after that, when you look even further, there are plenty of apps on the market that require root to work properly, there's one that allows you specify what apps launch on startup, there's a firewall that allows you control what connects through your data plan, there's a flashlight that keeps your camera flash on and many, many more. without root, these things don't work properly, because they don't have the right permissions.
for me, the reasons above are good, but not the main reason. for me, where I work, we use a LEAP wireless security system that (I think) all Android devices can connect to, without a problem. unfortunately though, the Android developers haven't added that option to the wireless config GUI. this isn't a problem if I get root, because then I can just edit the config file and change one line. without root, though, I don't have wireless connection during a good part of every day, which sucks.

Wow, this means that it could be ported huh?
I believe so, it has all the drivers in there if someone knows how to build it all from the source. Did you download it and look at it yet?

[Q] Anyway to use mobileconfig file from iPhone on S3?

My company has a mobileconfig that they have built that allows users to log into our VPN from the iPhone. Unfortunately my company only has this setup for the iPhone and not for Android. Is there an app or something that I can do to convert the mobileconfig to Android?
