Replacement Battery - EVO 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Just curious what others have found quality wise with replacement batteries. I've been looking on eBay and have come across a few extremely cheap ones and some mid priced ones as well. Any insight would be appreciated!

I ordered one of these batteries a few days ago and I'm waiting for it to arrive. I read in another thread that the guy liked it and it worked good so we will see...
Edit: got battery now and so far so good. Way better compared to stock. For the price u can't go wrong. Worst case scenario I'm out 15 bucks if it malfunctions. Fyi using SBC kernel with it.

I've bought several 1800mAh and 1500 mAh aftermarket batteries from eBay and they have out-performed my stock batteries (they're all made in China, anyway). Why pay $40 for one battery at Sprint when you can buy 6-8 from eBay for the same price. Just my 2 cents worth.......

I bought three aftermarket 1500s and an external charger (it was a single purchase) for about $11 with free shipping.
They're definitely cheap and they shipped from Hong Kong. They don't output their temperature or other information that is read by battery monitoring apps, but what I gained was definitely worth the price.
I haven't seen a difference in battery life between my stock battery and my aftermarket batteries. I've used sbc kernels with them without issues, though I rarely charge through the phone.
I couldn't justify spending 4 times the price or more for a replacement or extended battery. Just keep your batteries charged via an external charger & you'll never have to worry about plugging your phone in or cutting back to save battery life.

I would highly recomend seidio they are rated the best as far as listed mah verses actual mah . They sell them online and at bestbuy. Somewhere on this site is a link to a guy who tests a lot of China Japan batteries for actual mah and price per mah. I use seidio 3500 from bestbuy platinum but it cost 69.99. It has 30days warr but it takes almost that much time just to get the phone used to it. Also, its true that that mostly come from the same part of the world but the factory rates them on cell quality and price points them based on this factor. So i would argue that you get what you pay for.
Sent from my PC36100 using Tapatalk

I agree with gentyle completely. I bought a seidio 3500mA battery and a replacement 1500mA from another company and I'll never go with anything else. The 3500 outperformed the others by 3 times even though it should technically have only a bit over doubled them.

Bought a 3500 mA battery off ebay, for $15, it lasts the entire weekend with moderate use.

Me definitely! $50 seems like an awful lot to spend for an extra 200mAh though
I would but no money right now. Hey anything would be better off then the OEM 1300mAh =)
stock is 1400mha.
something tells me the stock battery have a higher capacity than those crooks using inferior cells while inflating the numbers.

You are most definitely right I bought one if those for my G1 and it crapped out within a year. Your best bet is to take your chances with the cheap batteries on ebay. You can get ten of them for what one from Seidio charges you. No knock on Seidio.

dunno where i saw it (somewhere here on xda prolly N1 forum) but some guys put every aftermarket battery for MANY phones up against HTC's stock batteries the astounding results:
NO aftermarket battery from ANY mfg. has EVER beaten HTC's stock battery...
(this is referring to batteries that fit in stock battery enclosure)
I agree after market battery might show higher numbers but not as good as the stocks ones

me 3 right under a year mine crapped out and it never seemed much better than my 2 year old htc it replaced.
I'm surprised, I've had good results with extended batteries. The one I got for my G1 did considerably better than stock. (8-9 hours versus 6 with OEM battery.)
I bought 2 1500mAh batteries with charger from ebay for less then $15 shipped. They last less then stock battery does (I kill stock battery in about 14 hours, the ones from ebay last me about 10-12 hours) but I always have charged spare battery now. Great investment IMHO, no way I would pay $50 for 1 battery, not even original HTC.
Hey Zoltair, What brand was the one you got that was better than stock???
Well I should hope that an extended battery would give you longer life then a stock...seeing as how its suppose to. I don't think that the problem is whether or not extended batteris last longer, because I would think if you bought an extended battery and it didint last longer then a smaller, stock battery..you would then return it...I think what people have problems with is getting what they pay for, price per mA and how much mA there really is...if your paying 50 dollars for a battery rated at 1400ma, your probably going to want all the mA you payed for...for example: (PURELY FOR SPECULATION, NOT REAL NNUMBERS) say you have a stock 500ma battery and you get like 4 hours out of it or whatever, and then you purchase an extended battery for 50bucks and its "rated" at 1000ma, yet you only get 6-7 hours out of it...? Then it would seem that it isn't truly rated at which they say it is... Then you get into how much certain companies value their own integrity, and how much they are going to inflate their own battery ratings to simply sell the product. Examples of this can be found on batteryboss.org ...This website obtains batteries and tests them, and you can see clearly, some companies inflate their ratings more than others... If you look at what the battery was rated at, and what exactly it tested at...they even break down price per mA...so if you paid 2dollars per mA for a 1500 rated battery and it tested at 1300..how much money are you losing? Purchasing an extended battery should be looked at like all consumer purchases, weight the pros and cons... and read reviews on companies, you can also seek alternatives such as previous post in this thread of having spare OEM batteries that cost 1/10th of an extended battery, yet they immediately doulbe your battery length..

No word yet on performance on this? Anybody get it? I don't want to go first, lol!
Well $49.99 for 1600mAh is high as hell and top of that from unknown source, might well as wait for Mugen power stock size. I hope whoever has this post data on it so we can see if its any good.
Got one of these for my N1. Definitely NOT worth the money. Don't notice any difference from the OEM.

Do NOT need to change back cover; Increase Cellphone Battery Life;
the part im confused about is where it says they are 1700 mAh but the the capacity is listed at 1500 mAh ....... any1 have any ideas?
These started out at $29 and now they have went up to $49. I would say they would perform below stock battery standards, less than 1300....
you definitely don't wanna cheap out on the battery on such a battery thirsty phone, go with OEM or a reputable 3rd party manufacturer (Seidio, etc)
The part you should be concerned about is how they are using the Japan tsunami for advertising. My advice? Don't buy it.

HTCexpress is selling the same battery. The capacity is listed as 1700mah, and they updated the description on amazon. It's probably still a little suspect, but people were all excited about the 2x1500mah batteries on ebay. Does anyone have any success getting batteries from HTCexpress?
Update: It turns out they didn't change the capacity, sort of. In some places it says 1700mah, and others it says 1500mah. I do smell something fishy...

It's the same seller as the one posted in the link above. I've bought from them before when I had my G2. I bought two 1800ma batteries. I had no way to really test if the battery were really 1800, but I did see a significant increase in battery life. Many G2 owners bought batteries from this seller. There should be several battery threads still floating around in the G2 forums where these red batteries are mentioned. If the seller didn't hike up the price is would have already bought them.

Cool, look forward to seeing your review. if its a real 1700 with a good % of actual power it would add quite a bit of time to our battery life.
I bought a package, but went through the eBay store instead. I chose their Buy It Now or Best Offer, and pitched $40 out, it was automatically rejected. Then I got an email about 2-3 minutes later with a second chance offer accepting my $40 so I took it.
Still a decent value.

I keep reading all these posts about Seidio being bad.

I have used their batteries also with no problems at all. Their batteries also seem to be as advertised. They are on amazon also. I have the 1500mah, I am definitely getting the 1700.
I bought the slim extended one from Seidio and it was definitely an upgrade, so it may very well be worth it.
I bought the slim extended from seidio when I had my Droid x. My experience is seidio batteries are crap. Extended battery didn't get near the life of the stock battery with lower mah rating. I will not buy seidio batteries again. Just my .02

(Q) Cheap batteries + charger?

Hi all just wondered if anyone has any experience of the cheap 1500 mah batteries + charger bundles from ebay im sure u know the type i mean... I already have a cheap 2600 mah battery with the replacement back cover and the performance of that is good but im finding the extra bulk of the phone a bit of a drag. I went back to my old battery and cover the other night and the phone just looks and feels much sleeker... So i was thinking of maybe buying one of those 2 batteries and a charger bundles for a tenner and just switching batteries when flat. I just thought id ask to see if anyone has any experience of these and how there performance compares to the original 1500 mah batteries.
Also i saw a cheap 3600mah battery on ebay, bulky but maybe worth it if it outperforms my 2600mah which is already decent. My phone is stock and is hungry for power!
Gimme your thoughts people ...cheers

Whenever i get cheap batteries they never work as well
My 2600mah has been fine that was only a tenner but the size is too ugly. Im very interested in these 2300mah and 1950mah batteries i have seen on ebay... But everyone ive seen on here saying theyll buy one and review it seem to disapear... Maybe there exploding and killing people off lol (just kidding).
If anyone has a cheap 1950mah or 2300mah standard size replacement battery, could they please give me a review of its performance.

I bought one of those bundles. The batteries last about half as long as the original battery. On the plus side they also charge super fast when you plug the phone in. Overall for the price I'm happy, I'm never without a charged battery now.

Regarding cheap batteries, it may be worth having a read of: http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php?t=65568
I know it's a different device/OS/manufacturer (Nokia N900), but the same principal probably applies.
An overview: cheap batteries from eBay usually have a resistor in them to set what capacity they report. So you may be buying a smaller capacity battery, faked to look bigger.
Now thats interesting. Nice one

I just bought these batteries. Im not into extended batteries cause of the added bulk. Its great deal for stock batteries! Not sure if these are authentic Samsung batteries but if hey end up to be generic, they were cheap anyways.

I've bought batteries off eBay that shipped from Hong Kong for my other phone in the past that turned out to be real. At least they worked and lasted just the same as a real one. To this day those batteries still work perfectly fine. They even looked exactly the same so well just have to see

For anyone that may be interested in batteries that are exclusively Samsung OEM: don't purchase these. They are generic. This posting is rather misleading.
Just a few points of thought: Nowhere in the listing does it say they are stock OEM Samsung batteries. The picture is there to throw you off, which has apparently done its job. lol The price and logic don't warrant it being OEM. For the same price as 3 generic batteries, you can get 3 OEM Samsung batteries? Course not, just think about it. Also, it would be illogical of the seller to sell an OEM product so low. The Chinese are known for a lot of things, stupidity is not one of them. lol Lastly, if the batteries end up looking like the picture, does that mean they're OEM? No, because of the above reasons, which are logic and price. The Chinese already produce a legitimate version and/or knockoff version of almost everything one can think of...do you think they aren't capable of copying and creating the same simple logo and sticker onto the generic batteries as there are on the OEM batteries? Of course they can. With ease.
That being said, the generic batteries aren't exactly garbage. They're just fine and have the potential of working just as good as OEM batteries. Though there are some lemons here and there that don't work up to par, and some that don't work at all. I just wouldn't expect to get a Samsung OEM product.
Coincidentally, I myself bought another set of 3 generic 1800mAh batteries + 1 battery wall charger from eBay today for $9.99 + free shipping and should have them in less than a week thanks to buying from a U.S. seller.
AMERICA.
P.S. Sorry, but I gotta vent (and inform) about this...there's a seller from China on eBay with a poor feedback rating selling the highly popular Samsung 32GB MicroSD Class 10 cards for roughly $15 each (they normally sell for between $50 to $75 and still have counterfeits among them), and some moe-rons snatched up about 400 of them in about 3 days time. Really, people? With the ridiculous, rampant amount of fake microSD cards on the internet market, you're actually going to believe a Chinese seller with a poor feedback rating selling "OEM" Samsung newest generation microSD cards for $15?? Common sense isn't so common. Bottomline: you get what you pay for. OK I'm done venting.
i ended up picking up a set of 3 1800 mah batteries and a charger for 13 bucks. tethering 4g really does a number on my battery (guess its the wifi + wimax being on at the same time) and it would be nice to swap these out when needed.
One thing im concerned about, do these batteries heat up with constant use? ive felt the stock battery go up to 42 degrees and i think any warmer than this may end up damaging my phone.
I would bet my middle testicle that those things are as fake as a chola's eyebrows.

for thirteen bucks shipped i didnt really expect oem batteries, just something to use/drain/swap while tethering
I bought these.. 3 and external charger. I don't regret it one bit. I could careless about battery drain now. I can now use my phone and enjoy full usage without having to worry. I highly recommend it. Although it will take a month to come in. If you are even slightly considering it, I say go for it.

You lie. YOU LIEEE!
Links or it didn't happen.
I'm gonna order some from HK because I can't find any in the US.
I switch between the 4 all the time (1 OEM and 3 generic). The three generics are numbered so I can keep track of them. I've had them since mid November, and I haven't noticed any difference in battery life relative to the stock battery.
I haven't had an overheating issues with any of the batteries either.
i have generic batteries as well and at first thought they were the same capacity as the OEM stock battery but that's only from 100 down to 40%. with the generic batteries, once i get to 40% if i reboot the phone it'll drop down DRASTICALLY to ~10%.
well, the seller in the ebay link, has almost 11000 sales, and a 99.4% positive reviews, so I would think its safe to buy from him..I am sure they are not "real" samsung batteries but, hell, for 13 bucks for 3 batteries and a charger, who cares!
China makes the best lipo batteries on earth. They also probably make the worst. It's a tossup. Luckily there is a good way to tell sometimes. The Chinese are more capitalist than we are now, so if a company in China makes good batteries they will put their name on them. If they make good product and only sell good product, they will gain notoriety and get to increase their prices to cash in on it.
So on these no-name batteries, either take the chance or buy Korean from a trusted retailer. Wot wah!
Had nothing but bad experiences buying batteries from Ebay, then again last time I did it was for my oldschool Motorola RAZR.
Just wanted to report back on the ebay batteries. So far so good, though they are definitely not as good as my stock battery. Good for swapping out when tethering etc. They do heat up with use, the max i saw while tethering is 47c. At these temps its unlikely they will last long, but for ~4 bucks each i guess they are replaceable.
The bundled charger puts out 5.2v at 800mah though it does have an annoying blue led that's always on while plugged in(black duct tape took care of this for me). Would have been nice if they bundled a usb cable, the one i had laying around works just fine.
Overall I had a great experience with the ebay seller who shipped China post->USPS, took about 10 business days.
Well I ordered some off ebay on the 12th of Feb. China post tracking says it just passed through a sort facility. Well, now I remember why I stopped using ebay 10 years ago. I miss when it was just stuff that fell off the back of a truck and people selling their used stuff. Now it's just chinese people dropshipping stuff that takes them two weeks to locate before they actually ship it. *fart*
Review after 30 days of rotated use:
These batteries are cheap. Very cheap, at best I would estimate 1500mAh, and they only go downhill from there. Now I'm lucky to last 7 hours with streaming radio. I would estimate I'm down to 1-1200mAh after less than 10 charge cycles.
I also broke the tabs on the charger inserting a battery too forcibly, but easily fixed with ABS cement.
However, I only bought them for streaming, tethering and to keep cycle count on OEM battery down, but it may not be worth it to you given the terrible life cycle.

Recommend you get the two battery + charger. Much better deal for $23.99 compared to the single battery for $15.99 .
I got mine when they were on sale for $9.99 .
Sweet battery, definitely is up there with how long it lasts. Daresay it's almost as long as when I had my phone when it was brand new with the fresh OEM battery.

I ordered a used OEM ET4G battery from "MKK Group Inc", it was legit and works great, looks identical to my original OEM battery.
Went to order another, MKK were all out, so I ordered from "Moonlight Express". This battery was too "long" by a few millimetres, it wouldn't fit in the phone, well it maybe COULD fit, but I doubt it would come back out again...
Dunno what version of this device this one goes to, it's SN is THaB1130ZS/5-B, EB625152VA 1800mAh
My original OEMs are SN TH1BC19VS/5-B, EB625152VA 1800 mAh
&
SN TH1C321CS/5-B, EB625152VA 1800 mAh
Also I have 2 dead and bloated batteries with TH1BC15FS/5-B & TH1BB19XS/5-B, so I'm guessing the TH1 series is for our phones and the THa series is for some other slight variant.
That or it's a fake perhaps. In any case I'm returning it, and hoping MKK gets more in. Or maybe just get this: http://www.ebay.com/itm/2520mAh-Ext...-II-2-Epic-4G-Touch-D710-Sprint-/271104168282
Edit: Thanks for the tip someguyatx, I'll avoid that one. The 4100mAh Qcell extended battery I ended up getting from Amazon has been amazing.
About the Moonlight Express seller on Amazon- they have great customer service and immediately issued me a full refund, and they haven't even provided me with a shipping label yet. Impressive.

Dont buy the 2520mah battery for 30 bucks. Its almost certainly a fake. There are several on ebay falsely advertised like this.
I ordered these at the end of January:
http://www.amazon.com/Anker-Batteries-SPH-D710-Cellular-Multi-purpose/dp/B005HBH1R2/
I got two batteries and the wall charger for $19 and change. Right now it says they're out of stock, but the seller was AnkerDirect. Seemed like a pretty good deal.
No problems whatsoever, and I actually use the wall charger more than I thought. I can rotate the batteries in and out and have a spare for the time being, and will give one to my wife when her battery starts spinning.
I bought an ec technology 1800mah from amazon for 7.99, i just got it yesterday feb 18th, the funny thing the battery was marked feb 1 2013, very fresh cells. So far battery life is steller, highly recommend ec technology.

Thought I'd let you know I got my batteries today. Straight out of the box was at 63%. 4 hours later with mild use. Only down to 53%

I would watch what battery you
because most battery gives hardware problems like "Burning up the motherboard" as thats what happened when I bought my last battery. I forgot what it happened
but there was a day that it overheated my phone
And now my whole phone couldnt hold a proper battery charge and charge correctly because something got messed up, lucky i had a warranty as it replaced my phone for free.
Usually sprint told me to "Make sure you buy the battery that has *Samsung* Written in it" you know the stock ones?
Those I recommend getting. I always made sure i bought those and no problems with my phone for a year and 4 months of far
