Screen Off Animations for your Stock Froyo/EB13/EC05/EH17 ROM's!!! - Epic 4G Apps

Hello fellow Epic EC05 rom users, Stock Froyo users, and the like.
This is a must have app if your looking for a screen off animations fix for your Froyo and stock roms. Works Great on the Epic.
The App is called Screen off and Lock. I have personally been using this app for over 6 months, and the latest update has brought this app into my top 3.
It comes with several screen off animations, including a nice version of a CRT animation. This App also gives your power button a much needed break from overuse. It provides you with softkey screen off options, and can turn your search key into a dedicated screen off option.(Long Key Press)
There is a free version of this app...However, i havent a clue about what functionality you get with the free version. I do recommend purchasing this app and supporting the dev.
Anywho....without further adue, here are some market links for you. Enjoy!!

Free Version: https://market.android.com/details?id=com.katecca.screenofflock&feature=more_from_developer
If this app makes you smile..Hit teh button!!

This app is the awesome sauce definitely. Been using the free one for months. Just wish I could route it through the Power key.

Epic 2.2 and touchwiz...

Hey all just had a quick question about the latest update. I used to have an epic awhile back when they was on 2.1 and noticed that we had a very dumbed down version of touchwiz.
So my question is with the latest os did they update the epic touchwiz to full like the vibrant and etc...
Reason I ask is I just bought an epic because I use my phone for gaming a lot and my evo is lag city on most new games with it's current gpu...
Thanks everybody in advance!

There was not a lot of changes in Touchwiz with the Froyo 2.2 upgrade other than the ability to order applications anyway you want on the Apllications pages. Plus adding a sort function and swapping out of docked applications.

And the ui changed. Ued to be light blue popups, now they are that nice dark blue. Some notification icons changed. All the icons for stock apps(messaging, email, etc) now have the correct touchwiz equivelant, instead of the android default. We got the touchwiz music player now, with notification controls. Unfortunately, the lockscreen did not change at all. The touchwiz home app now has pinch-to-zoom previews, and can have 1-7 screens. We also have the touchwiz messaging app, with blue and yellow chat bubbles. I think that covers everything.
Will edit if i remember anything.

Great! Grab yourself a nice ROM and enjoy all the Epic goodness.

[ROM][7/11/2011] Virtuous G-Lite v1.0.3 :: Gingerbread AOSP HTC/G2 base 2.13.531.8

G-Lite is a departure from other Virtuous ROMs in that it is effectively AOSP and designed to be lightweight, yet functional. If you find yourself discarding most of the features of Sense in favor of specific apps of your preference, this ROM is for you. Don't expect anything too fancy.
Features
Supported on the G2 and DesireZ only.
Minimalistic, lightweight ROM with +200MB of memory free at startup.
Extremely battery efficient (best of any G2/DZ ROM I have used to date).
Based on Vision_Gingerbread_S_TMOUS_2.13.531.8, which is effectively AOSP.
All device hardware fully functional, including wifi, bluetooth, camera, camcorder, etc.
Kernel 2.6.35.10 Vision Gingerbread kernel. Do NOT use AOSP kernels with this ROM (i.e. Pershoot, Cyanogen).
Market-sourced applications (Gmail, Maps, Voice, etc) automatically installed on first boot into /data/app for easy removal.
Basic visual enhancements to notification bar, icons and pulldown menus to eliminate green indicators in favor of white.
Replaced stock Gingerbread launcher with LauncherPro.
Wifi calling and Swype conditionally installed for T-Mobile USA users. If your carrier licenses Swype for your DZ, let me know and I will adjust the installer.
Bloatware and unnecessary applications removed.
Additional notifications and ringtones added from Sense.
Massive APNS list.
Rooted, deodexed and zipaligned (should be assumed with all ROMs but people ask so I mention it anyway).

Easy-to-use ROM?

Hey everyone. My Mother-in-Law has the Sprint SGSII and.....she hates it! She needs the capabilities the phone offers for her business, but she is extremely frustrated with the UI of Android. She is currently running the most recent ICS update. I am curious to know, from experienced users of this phone, what the most user-friendly ROM is - considering the end user.

I recommend the Blu Kuban Rom, its pretty much drama free. Use Odin to install a rooted version of ICS, then install CWM Recovery. Once that is installed slap the Blu Kuban ROM onto your SD card. Boot into recovery and install the ROM.
You will want to read some FAQs and guides if you haven't done it before.
Probably miui

My vote goes for stock with Apex launcher, the feature to lock the desktop is amazing for newbie android users, grouping shortcuts, customize the bottom icons, slight theming, working good so far.
I've rooted my SGS3 & am running StrongSteve's Odexed Blue, but this is my first Android phone & rooting experience. I will definately read the stickies & FAQs before I do anything. Hopefully the Epic 4G Touch isn't too different from my SGS3.

Stock, let the mother in law deal with Sprint especially if she uses her phone for business. Next thing ya know you get blamed if she misses a call or gets a late text.
Try a different launcher like apex or nova first. Lots of ppl also like go launcher, many themes
I have Nova launcher and I like it. Or go to settings, apps, select all, go to twlauncher and clear defaults then hit the home key to switch to twlauncher and you can make it your default for a straight Android look.

Go gingerbread and run stock or a stock ROM with tweaks. I'd say go with either blazers 4.1 calks 3.0 or unofficial ICS gingerbread ROM. ICS is just poo.

I got my tech retarded dad an evo 3d and put an AOSP ICS rom on it for him.It seems to be working well enough. As such I cannot recommend an AOSP rom enough for simplicity and ease of use. Google is like pretty good at what they do and IMHO AOSP is the cleanest, simplest to use option available. Keep the stock launcher and just put phone, browser, text and email in it...

No ROM is going to fix stupidity. No offense to your in laws.
That being said blu Kuban is a good choice for customizing to her specific needs. I usually refer to it as the "build your own ROM" ROM. However she may be a little daunted by the frequent updates and large amount of options. If you do choose that ROM I would highly recommend that you familiarize yourself with the faq in my sig so you can send to any issues she may have with it. Also any ROM by team VeNuM, especially m'ICS or blue BOA would be a good choice as far as stability is concerned.

Hehe, none taken. She's not stupid, just "technologically challenged."
I can't remember where I saw the screen shot, perhaps an article on Android Authority, but I seem to recall seeing an initial setup screen shot from a GNex w/JB - shortly after Google launch party. That screen shot allowed two options, basically beginner or advanced mode. I believe I came away with the impression that was geared towards the UI too, not the setup method.
Now, I know JB ROMs are in alpha stage for the e4gt. Do you think I should wait for, what looks to be, an official JB release for the SGSII from Samsung?
Thoughts? Has anyone else seen, read, heard, or experienced this "beginner mode" on JB - or were the paint fumes at my office gettin' to me more than I thought they were that day?
Sent from my SPH-L710 using xda app-developers app
JB roms are not quite ready yet. There was some type of easy setup thing though. Honestly your best bet would probably be a simple launcher and lockscreen.
Keep it stock. Use a different launcher and remove all but one screen. Put the things she uses most on it as shortcuts, then lock it so she can't accidentally mess it up. Did that for my wife and it really helped!
Sent from my SPH-D710 using xda app-developers app
no rom will fix this try Mihome miui launcher its as simple as it can get good luck
Ive been using the TeAm VeNuM cRaCk StOck[FH23] for the past couple of days and you cant get much more simple than that. Only change I made was switch to the Apex Launcher. The battery life is incredible!!!!

I find GB more stable then most ICS ROMs. Great battery life awesome signal and great GPS locks. Most GB ROMs are complete and done with updates due to ICS coming out. Currently ICS is still being updated and has many flaws. A lot of the devs like ruj and mijjz got their stuff in order but they update a lot and may irritate your mother in law.

You can just keep stock and go dead simple with i launcher. It will obviously have no bugs (its stock). its just an iphone launcher

Is this going to be a TW ROM? If so, I'd love to see the following:
-On onscreen button toggle ala AOKP and various other AOSP ROMs. Clark's ROM uses a flashable zip to enable the on screen buttons, but those buttons are not the same style or layout as the AOSP on screen buttons.
-15 toggle mod with quick panel settings.
THat's all I got for now. Thanks for bringing another ROM to this fabulous device. Can't wait to see what you cook up!

Take pictures with power button or even better the physical home button , I've never seen that . Please no all blue theme we have way too many of those or any one color theme for that matter. Silent camera . I would also like this ROM to give me a massage every night along with a blowy and call me handsome. Thanks

Is there such a thing as a stable touch wiz ROM that's themed to look like aosp?

Hey guys. New to the note 2 forums. I've been using a nexus for the last 4 years and one thing I really dislike about the note is the way touch wiz looks. However I would rather not go to cm10 and lose out on the s pen functionality.
Is there a middle ground somewhere?

Not trying to be that guy... But what do you use it for? I can swype a note faster and more readable with my finger. With Carbon I get AOSP 4.2.2, Voodoo sound, 2GHZ over clock. I can still use the stupid pen just not the Spen app.

The first link is for the rom, the second link is for the theme to be flashed on top of the rom. Make sure you follow the directions to a T.
I love airview, had an Ascend with a trackball and used it religiously viewing webpages, making selections (if you think our phone is to big for one handed use, try comjng from a scroll ball phone where my hand was usually always near the bottom of the screen), and correcting text, etc.
Im currently in the process of retraining myself just to use screen taps for full functionality, but airview is nice
