Samsung Galaxy S II Receives Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich MIUI ROM - Samsung Epic 4G Touch

dang, why couldn't our version be a gsm and coma, the photon had a gsm radio so did the 4s. if i could go back the hero and the eve weren't gsm, probably because sprint didn't want us to old on to them for long time. On the side note we don't even have mini, ICS will test epic 4g touch owners patience.

What did you say?

What, are you kidding me? You know, I had att before I switched to sprint. I wanted the sgs2 so badly that I canceled carriers because I didnt want yo wait a week. Looks like this is another reason why I shot myself in the foot.
Oh well, any ideas on if this might get ported to our phones?

Ill correct this:
Hot damn! Why couldn't our version be more like the gsm? The photon has a gsm radio, so does the 4s. I wish I could go back the Hero or the Evo, but sprint doesn't want us to hold on to phones for a long peroid of time. On a side note, we still don't even have MIUI. ICS will test the epic 4g touch owners patience.

EVO LTE or GSIII?

What are you planning on upgrading to? I think I'll be going to the GSIII unless the specs end up being a flop.
Galaxy S III...no questions about it. I'm not due to upgrade til november, but since I'll be graduating next month, I may just pony up and 'treat' myself.
One exists. The other does not. So, this question is a little premature.
I'm actually planning on upgrading to the Galaxy Nexus.
Sure I was hoping that the evo LTE would look much better, but it has amazing specs. I think I am going to grab it, stick my evo on a pre-paid, so I can still play with it of course.
I can't stand the build quality of any Samsung I've touched. I preordered my OG Evo, and been happy ever since. Tempted to preorder Evo lte, but would sure like to check out build quality first. I hated the materials they used on Evo 3d.

I've been considering the Evo 4G LTE but thing I hate about it is the fact that it does not have a removable battery.
Evo 4G LTE
I would probably get the Evo Lte depending on how well the GS3 performs. I played with the GS2 and honestly, it was garbage. I'm still rocking the original Evo because the 3D was a let down. Hope this helps!
EVO LTE is my choice. My OG is still the best for me. Never let me down even when I did by dropping it several times. Just keeps going and going. I am putting my money on HTC.

New Devices: Galaxy Nexus, HTC Evo 4G LTE & Galaxy Note - Will YOU Switch?

With all the new Android devices coming to Sprint, will you be making the switch to one of them?
Samsung Galaxy Nexus - April 15?
HTC EVO 4G LTE - May-June?
Samsung Galaxy Note - 2nd Quarter?
Leave some feedback, I'm interested in if anyone would give up this awesome device we already have for one of the new ones!
I don't think so, I don't want a bigger screen size

Going to see if I can get the Evo. I had the OG Evo before and I loved it.
None..not up for upgrade, there is not LTE here in Houston and I am pleased with this phone.
Thinking about the note, or evo
Sent from my SPH-D710 using Tapatalk 2 Beta-6
Definetely not the Nexus. Our phones have much better specs than the Nexus. That camera is horrible in quality.
I'd get the Note if it doesn't take too long to come out. Otherwise, I'd just wait for the SG3 in September.
im not gonna upgrade but if i were too then htc evo 4g lte no doubt. note is almost a year old and so is the nexus. evo brings in new tech
Sent from my SPH-D710 using xda premium the note is the su snapdragon then no. Higher resolution with a not so powerful gpu =less performance on games and I play alot
Nope. I will consider the GSIII. If Sprint's variant tickles my nads then I'll sell my GSII and buy it. Otherwise, I'll be waiting for 2013's lineup.
until I get lte on my Area.... im fine with my wimax and won't go back to 3g that goes from 5kbps to 2 mbps.. .
I played with the Note at At$t and it was extremely laggy. Anyone else notice? I'll wait for the SG3...
Sent from my SPH-D710 using xda premium
ill prob wait for the S3 not a big fan a of having a monster phone in my back pocket and as for nexus and evo i dont have lte in my are so its pointless. still loving my s2.
Most likely waiting for the SG3 as well, but will honestly just have to wait and see. If the SG3 really isn't being released until September then it's likely I'll pick up another phone in the interim just for the newness. But I love my E4GT so it's going to take a LOT to sway me.
First off i want to thank god that i am a sprint employee i will prolly go with the note and then the GSIII
When Sprint kicks me off their network for the constant 3g Data roaming (ever since I moved 6 months ago) I'll be getting either Galaxy Note or Galaxy Nexus on AT&T.
(AT&T makes more sense in my situation because all my family and my wife's family are on AT&T as well).

More realistically if enough ppl complained maybe we can get sprint to give us a free upgrade to an LTE device
By the time LTE actually comes to your area, you'll probably be eligible for an upgrade anyway.
And why would you get a free upgrade? It's not like the WiMAX service is being shut down or anything.
There are theories, but nothing confirmed yet.

I called Sprint when the news that they were ending WiMax came out and they said that if I did not have 4G in my area they would allow me an earlier upgrade to an LTE phone with no penalties.
I had to push them for a while and escalate and bedazzle them with logic, but it worked.
But it was all for nothing since my phone will be put up for sale May 7th.

We as in ACS. We were in touch with a reliable source that I'd prefer not to name the origin of.
A few things...
LTE and WIMAX do require 2 different radios so if you wanted your device to switch between them it would have to have both radios built in.
Wimax is not going away anytime soon because we announced a new hotspot device which houses all of our radios aka "quadband".
Just a question; Why is complaining ever a solution? Technology moves like water. You jump in knowing that there is newer and better just up stream of you. Retail some how gives people a sence of entitlment which baffles me. You buy a car, do you complain the next year and say "well now there is a 2013 modle with x,y,z in it so I should get it for free".... just silly, baby town frolics even.

I kinda agree with what you're saying... I think what people are having an issue with is that they are stuck in contract with a non-lte phone. If you had to pay 5 times for that newer model car than what a new customer would pay, I bet you would be pretty upset too. I just hope my upgrade timing plays out perfectly to when lte is coming to chicago. That would be awesome.
On that meeting they had about network vision they did say about making lte work under Wimax or something like that I may be wrong thoe

Need help choosing between gnex and s3 [Sprint]

Im switching services to sprint and looking to either get the nexus or the s3. All hardware specs aside which would most likely be the better choice..? From what I read it looks like the s3 is stuck in 3g while lte rolls out for sprint. Im leaning towards the nexus as its a pure android phone with no bloat on top of it. Would it be a smart choice to go with the gnex or get the s3 and wait for the 4g lte?

GNex is LTE too so you would be stuck on 3G either way. Sprint 3G is terrible in case you didn't already know.

3g isn't bad for me. It's an easy choice IMO. If you want access to the latest software, and want it to be fully functional, and stable, go Nexus. The GS3 doesn't have "that" much going for it over the Nexus.
Sent from my AOSP Android 4.1.1 Galaxy Nexus
"All hardware specs aside" makes it very simple. Galaxy Nexus hands down. But please get the GSM version to get the full benefit and all of the freedom from contracts, carrier restrictions, and official software delays.
If your not getting GSM nexus may as well get the better hardware. S3 would be my recommendation, though I'll personally stick with my GSM nexus.
That's my unbiased opinion, considering the forum your on you should know what most people will say.

Dont be lured by the unlimited marketing engine from Sprint. Their network is horrible. 3g is more like 2g at best and 4g is hit or miss. I imagine given their track record, LTE will be the same. Unlocked GNEX on T-mobile is the way to go! Thats what I did and couldnt be happier.

Bad 3G? It really all depends on location. Really if your not in an area where LTE will be very prevalent. Then go with the GSM. Otherwise you may want to reconsider the sprint nexus. I've seen people getting consistent 25+ Mbps. And just as much upload. That plus non throttled unlimited is heaven sent.

Why couldn't sprint include 4G with 4G LTE on GS3?

Since sprint is going to take atleast year or more to roll out 4G LTE all over US, they should have included 4G capabilities with S3. Do you guys agree?

If 3G was better on your GS3 then your GS2 then i would suggest flashing different modems until you find one that works well.
I did this before i got my GS3 and found not all modems are created equal when it came to the GS2.
