Two quesions about EI22 - Epic 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

One, is there a built in way to take screenies? Like, a button combo?
And two, is the Touchwiz 3.2 launcher slow?

1. Nope, don't think so.
2. It's faster than before, that's for sure.

On DK28 it was Hold home and press back, or vice-versa. But, it didn't make it to EB13 or EC05. On the E4GT(GSII in general I guess) you press Home+power I think.

The bootup in the first video leak was noticeably faster than stock Froyo is for me with my apps right now. I wonder if there'll still be the multisecond agonizing delay when sliding out the keyboard for the icons to repopulate (I realize apps on the SD card contributes to this).

You will be notified of the update, and you'll even be able to download it, but it won't install.
Edit: another question lol
Does EI22 still have the Fully charged beep/notification? And does a Level 2 ram clear from the task manager still stop texts from going though?

Yes. All annoying sounds and popups still there. Samsung feels this is a safety feature since the mythological ipod that burnt down the house.
And I don't use anything that clear level 2 RAM completely. Memory Booster Lite clears as much as level 2 clear used to except maybe 10 MB and has no issues.

Isn't EI22 supposed to give us the ability to video chat thru google talk? If so, was there ever an official update for this? I can't find it anywhere on the market and all google searches lead me to believe I have to be rooted just to install it. I think I ran it back on EE03, but it seemed buggy. Did google never officially release it for all GB phones?

I think he's asking about the level 2 clear because he'd prefer not to use a 3rd party app to clear level 2 memory, and the stock task manager currently prevents texts from going out when you do this. So does the EI22 Task manager Level 2 clear prevent your outgoing texts from being sent?

[Q] Borrowing from Motoblur possible?
Hello.
I'm considering getting the Epic 4g, but was wondering if it's at all possible to 'borrow' from Motoblur, specific elements at least. I've grown accustomed to using the Motoblur UI (and has become my personal favorite), and making the move to Sprint, would cause a loss from me as Sprint does not offer Motorola Android phones.
The 'elements' I had in mind were:
- UI (Theme, Easy enough to simulate, possibly easy enough to rip)
- SMS/Contacts/Dialer, the whole integration between these apps, possibly. (If not, I would be happy if the SMS app worked on its own.)
- Connected Media Player
- The gallery app that was present in Cupcake - MotoBlur
- the built-in File explorer
I assume the Epic uses the same TouchWiz present on other Samsung phones, and all of the other apps, I can work with.
(I was personally never a big fan of Samsung phones, after owning 4 others, and having quite a number of issues with each. Sprint's Android selection is a little limited however. At least Samsung is higher in my book than HTC or LG. I'm not moving to Sprint for phone selection though, it's the cost benefit.)
EDIT: Move this if you can. The way my mind worked was that I saw the option to make this thread a question *After* the fact, and after I posted, I THEN saw the Sticky about the Q'nA Section. My bad.
...and now I have to wait 5 minutes to repost, so someone might see this before I can catch my mistake.

[HELP] Chainfire 3D fail?

Ok I've been using chainfore 3D pretty much since version 1.7...and its been working wonders for me saving battery in night mode and speeding up my UI experience and saving me a lil bit of RAM with the settings...but after I updated to version 2.8...installed the drivers and rebooted....I can't get it to work at all. It doesn't force close...but it just opens up for .3 seconds I can scarcely read the text "checking settings..." and instantly closes again....I tried going into CWM and wiping the caches...I tried uninstalling and re-installing...I'm scratching my head...
Does anybody know what the problem could be or how I can un-install the drivers to start from scratch from the initial install...or how I get it to open up correctly...any help is appreciated?
Sent from my rooted, suited, & booted Epic 4G kno dat!
Its not you...me too. Even with a fresh install of my rom it does this directly after installing the driver and rebooting. Very aggravating...glad its not just me.
Well damn...it must be a glitch in the app itself or some compatability issue with our phones...what ROM are you running?
Sent from my rooted, suited, & booted Epic 4G kno dat!
Same here!!!
Now that we have 3 which makes a problem party...we can get some particulars ans start narrowing down the root of the issue...which is of course the intention..getting there is suttin else

Add me to the list. Just today I was looking at some games I wanted to try that are for a specific chipset so I went to upgrade to CF 2.8 and have the exact same issue. The last time I updated was 2.0 and it works fine. Thankfully I titatium'd it and could get back to it. I haven't tried any versions in between to see where it got broken, maybe I'll give that a shot(If I can find the in between apk's) and report the results here.
Running the non pro version on a Samsung Epic with SRF 1.2.
It works fine for me now...dunno what changed though

It is believed. That more or less it's not secure to use they're products because it phones home information, whether it be what you type or anything of that matter I honestly don't know, but many people think that way and avoid it. I can't confirm or disprove either accusation of safety or unsafety. But it's worth looking into.

I like it, makes it easier than having to constantly check.
Also, honestly, how often does an update break an app?
I've had it happen to me once.
Started using this a few days ago and so far so good. I like the small changes they made to it and so far all of my apps show up fine.
Works great on both of my phones. Thanks!

Yea actually worthy of use now that he removed the on screen buttons.
I do have to say it is quite laggy though.
Definitely has some bugs to work out for sure

whatever you do don't try this on our phones, the lag is so bad the epic feels like a Samsung moment trying to run ICS for real. I actually lost my whole rom cause after a reboot it would not even allow me to get past the lock screen. Had to format system and reinstall fresh, then I tried it on a fresh install to see if it had just been a conflict with something else and once again I had to rinse and repeat... it may work well on other phones but does not play nice with E4GT.

Did u have it set to default before u rebooted? Cause I've noticed on this phone if you change launchers and then reboot without setting it to default the phone won't go past the lockscreen.

I was reading the thread for this launcher and it was a flame war. It scared me from trying it...lol. If some people report positive results then I may give it a shot
