Change you desc.txt to the one I have posted.
Your images are 360x600, you desc.txt called them at 480x800. Sometimes this inconsistency will cause the bootanimation to fail. Each line of the desc.txt file should be a separate line, and there needs to be a blank line at the end.
This was yours:
Code:
480 800 15p 1 0 androidp 0 0 part1
This is the one I posted:
Code:
360 600 15
p 1 0 android
p 0 0 part1
That might fix it.
Also, make sure you set it to no compression.

If you're talking about
Code:
480 800 20
p 10 0 part0
p 0 0 part1
which was in one of your threads, just tried it, did not work, can you manually upload a fixed version?
Checked my permissions, fixed them again to rw/r/r and still nothing. My bootanim is in system/media

Basically I fixed what I outlined in my first post.
Actuall image size must match the sized called out in the desc.txt. (in my experience)
Lines of code in desc.txt need to be separate lines.
There needs to be a blank line at the end of desc.txt.
Compression method set to 'store' or 'none' basically NO compression.
I think you had had actually made a zip file with compression (3%). I cannot say which one, if not all of these errors affected you.
Glad it is working now. Feel free to hit 'thanks'

It was not the size, I stretched them back to 480x800, must have been in desc.txt file, must have mixed it up along the way, thanks a lot for the help, finally managed to finish my modifications of my ZTE Blade ^.^

help with bootanimation!

hey guys can somebody help me with this boot animation, it works ok with the preview app. bit blocky, but upload to phone and it just show the old android screen.
I'd say correct filenames- in both part0 and part1 everything "under 10" has 1 digit less (just add 0).
On the other hand- if you want this to be displayed in loop part0 is only necessary, there's no need for part1
confused so do i need to add a extra digit to the numbers under 10?
IMO yes, you have to. I didn't come across any bootanimation which used different lenghts of filenames.
ok changed the numbers used root explorer placed it in system/customize/resource
and still get the android rather than my animation.
Shouldn't bootanimation be placed in system/media/ or data/local/?
i read that but im sure the original was from resource so i just plonked it back any way ill give that a try! cheers

This may be rom dependent, I've never touched system/customize and in fact I don't have such directory (Redux2.0)

It's 32bit read somewhere that would work but keep seeing 24bit .is it easy to convert to 24?

bootanimation not working when booting

Hello, today I made an image sequence in 3ds for change my bootanimation.
Currently i have the cm7 with revolution rom, cd on my desire .
The settings file is on 480 x 800 while the one currently on have bigger resolution.
When I replace the zip id doesn't work. My images are pngs, old ones jpgs
I tried to replace the downanomation that have the same settings except that don't repeats (1) and when I powerdown i see my animation! What's wrong with my phone? I'm sure filenames are correct, already checked.
Thank you
As far as know bootanimation and downanimation has different folder names inside the zip. One has Android and one has something different but I can't remember.
via xda app
Yes the folder inside is called part0 as for the original bootanimation, but the settings manage it and it works in downanomation as seen, but got something wrong in boot up ñ(
What bit depth are the images?

Folder "part0" containing
f0000, f0001,..., f0049.png
each is
Code:
480x800 pixels
bit depth: 32
107kb
windows attributes: A
all compressed in an "uncompressed" .zip that on android have all rvx permissions
i moved and renamed it using "Root Broswer" on android
I tryed to modify the desc.txt but this time nothing was working (i added a space before p)
As far as I remember, the bit depth has to be 24 bit.

Yes tank you, after several tries and render i found that i got the alpha channel enabled in the picture. but after that i had to make something strange for make it works:
open the txt file in android and insert a newline before p and save (windows don't see that newline statement) rename all frames "00000" to "f0000" repack and move it in.
For now it looks like that, with cubes rotating in various axes

tank you!

[Q] Bootanimation problem

I am trying to install a new boot aninmation. I have followed the following steps but it is still not working. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
1) Unlocked bootloader
2) Rooted
3) Flashed AOKP M3
4) Adjusted permissions of the original bootanimation.zip located in \system\media
5) Renamed the original file to bootanimationold.zip
6) Copied a new bootanimation.zip file to \system\media
7) Rebooted but I still see the AOKP unicorn boot animation.
8) Copied the new bootanimation.zip to \data\local\
9) Rebooted - Still seeing the annoying sparkly unicorn!
Any ideas?
mae sure you dont have an extra folder within your boot animation. Test it bydouble clicking the zip file. If you see another folder named boot animation.zip, its packaged wrong. All there should be inside your bootanimation.zip file is a desc.txt file and part0 or part1 folders.
Thank you very much sir.
Your fix worked. I can't believe it was something as simple as that!
Hats off the the whole XDA community for being able to resolve problems so quickly and intelligently.
Thanks, we try, lol
This is not working for me. I took a bootanimation as a template reworked it with same file names. Originally the files went from 10KB to 90KB.. Then I saw the originals were 8bit so I converted mine to 8bit thinking that was the problem. No go, just black screen. I don't have an extra folder in my zip or anything. My desc file is also unchanged and says..
720 1280 60
p 0 0 part0
Is there a cache I have to clear or something? I put it in system/media. I've used other bootanimations without issue. Is there a compression on the zip file? I put the original back in and poof it works. Makes no sense.

If you upload the file I'd be happy to check it out for you bud, no promises though!
When I get back home I will do just that, PM you with a url.. I'm stumped really, I think it might be because I used PAINT.NET. Maybe it doesn't support PNG as well as Photoshop..I wanted to finish this up, track down the original developer of the bootanimation and offer that as a fancied up bootanimation. If I can get it to work, I'll add new realistic looking gears and some light flairs.

Hey buddy,
I tried the link you sent me, there is no file there. Can you upload the file to this thread?
txt
Hi,
I kind of discovered recently that the formatting of the text file varies sometimes for reasons I have yet to unveil.
File 1
720 1280 30
p 0 0 part0
(empty line)
I modified a couple of png and it didn't work anymore, black screen...modified the txt file.
File 2
720 1280 30
(empty line)
p 0 0 part0
(empty line)
Now it works again.
Hope it helps
Hmm that would be weird because I am using the untouched desc.txt file and it doesn't have blank lines but I'll give that a try. I used Boot Animation Creator and at the end it appears to allow you to see a preview however it didn't show a preview. What a mystery.. lol
No need to worry, while I didn't figure out the problem exactly, I changed the file type to jpg and it works perfectly now. I lose some colour depth but it still retains enough quality to look good. I took bad4u6669 original creation and made it more to my liking. I hope he doesn't mind. I can't even remember where I downloaded it to be honest! Anyhow, for anyone interested, it's attached and a screenshot.
Cheers!

Creating/Installing Custom Bootanimation For Android

C r e a t i n g/ I n s t a l l i n g
C u s t o m B o o t a n i m a t i o n F o r A n d r o i d
Step 1 :- CREATE ANIMATION IMAGES
Open Photoshop(or any other image editor).Make the background color black and then place the image layer above background layer and make its opacity 0% and save it as PNG named 0000 and then keep on increasing the opacity (Remember name for First Image should be 0000.png,for second 0001.png,for third 0002.png and so on.Save them in 240x320 resolution(your device's resolution)
TIP:-Use splatter or any other brushes:-Same as above but the difference is you will not change the opacity it should be 100% and the splatters on the image will increase with new one.(IT LOOKS QUITE IMPRESSIVE)
Step 2:-
Make two folder named part0 and part1. Put your images created in those folder. For Ex. 0000.png to 0009.png in part0 and 0010.png to 0070.png in part1.
Step3 :-
Create desc.txt
and write:-
240 320 24
p 1 0 part0
p 0 0 part1
and save it
------------------------------------------------------------------
EXPLANATION of 240 320 24
p 1 0 part0 :-
240 320(your device's resolution)
24(frames per second.......higher the no. faster will your bootanimation)
p(pointer to tell it to look at new commands)
1(no. of times this section of bootanimation will play....0=infinite)
0(Pause....0=no pause 10=10sec pause repeating or moving on next line)
part0(folder in which your animation images are contained)
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
[/B] Step 4:-
Create a folder named bootanimation and in that put part0,part1 and desc.txt.ZIP the contents of bootanimation folder(REMEMBER COMPRESSION METHOD SHOULD BE STORE)
Step 5:-
Copy bootanimation.zip to your sd card.
Step 6:-
Using Root Explorer(or any other alternatives) copy bootanimation.zip to system\media (Remember change mount to R/W)
STEP 7 :-
Reboot,ENJOY and SHOW-OFF!

What do u mean to actually......are they in JPG format...for example: "xyz.JPG".If yes then you need to convert them because the JPG files may
give a black screen while booting up.
