Is anyone working on dualbooting - Samsung Epic 4G Touch

With all our great devs working ob awesome new roms and things it would be awesome if i could dual boot roms
I would have my stockish daily driver and what ever i wanted as my other rom
For the og epic there were a gajillian betas for the miui ron and not all of them booted so having dual boot helped test them in the go and not a a brick in my pocket for half of the day
if nobody is working on this i am requesting
im 16 and have no more money cause all my computers broke and i have to buy a new one so i cant offer a bounty like there is for ics
but somebody please work on this

Sounds like a great idea ......maybe chris can help with this when he gets a phone ......remember this on the og epic

Yay a supporter
now we need just a lot more supporters or a dev that thinks this is important

I would also Like to get dualbooting. There was an app that I paid for that worked great on the evo but nothing for our phone
Sent from my SPH-D710 using xda premium

I guess time will tell
It was like 9 months after the og epic came out that we got dual booting
Sent from my SPH-D710 using xda premium

What we should do is bug the developers of Boot Manager to support Samsung phones. I paid for the app, but can't use it on this phone. It works great on my EVO 3D and I have 5 ROMS to choose from. Check it out in the Market. http://tinyw.in/4LOA

I just had to move down from a GS3 to this Epic 4G Touch, and see what I did for S3 in my sig. I think I'll try to adapt it for the E4GT.

Acs custom rom ?

Wondering when ACS custom rom will be out. I know its already in testing and @darren said it was looking pretty good which should be obvious since ACS developers do a crazy good job but just hoping to get a little more info on the release i know no eta's are given. MY ET4g is still completely stock waiting for that rom to come out and im rooting it.

They have their own site so maybe you can search there

All I can say is patience... It is a little dis heartening I will say though because it took the Vibrant nearly a year to get a stable version of CM7 on it.... But Koush is working on the EpTouch so all I can say is its only a matter of time and patience.
Gsm vs cdma with a wimax radio
Stop complaining and start developing if u in a rush.
Sent from my Galaxy S2
Wimax and cdma are both wildcards. Tmobile and att are gsm, so it is a lot easier to port from the international version.
Sent from my SPH-D710 using Tapatalk
I didnt think the Tmobile version had CM support due to the Tmobile version having a different CPU than the rest of the bunch???
Tmobiles GS2 doesn't have either. They may have device support from those teams but so do we.
Sent from my SPH-D710 using xda premium
I didnt think they did.
AT&T's GS2 has both though. Wtf?!? Lol jk
Sent from my SPH-D710 using xda premium
LOL, if we had a DEV from CM that had this as a personal device we would be rockin CM7 already. Being that we dont and all of our CM support is being done in spare time by one CM DEV at a time, it will take longer than usual. Rather than having that ICS ROM bounty we should pitch buy a CM DEV a device for his/her personal phone, lithid for example

Welcome to the E4GT family! Just a couple things to know 1) Stay away from ROM Manager 2) Stay away from CWM Touch or any temp recoveries 3) Be very careful when using an ICS recovery (for now atleast til all the kinks are fixed) such as Rogue Repacks. Have fun!

Rom manager great for flash if used to boot into cwm recovery when using a steady repacked kernel. Never wipe data or reset in recovery when using an ics recovery. Use calks zip to wipe. Partitions changed in ICS and you will brick your phone

Dual booting

I think we should pitch in some donations or something to try to get a dev to create a dual/tri boot for this phone
.. If it's possible for our device.

It would be nice if bootmanager worked on our phone but the zImage kernel causes issues with the way they handle the boot from SD function

From what hes saying it may be possible, but a huge PITA to actually get off the ground. Just for curiosity, why dual boot anyway? (Phone wise) i do on my computer but for phone never really saw a reason. Just thought i would ask.

Options from Stock to AOSP possibilities. I would much enjoy being able to switch back and forth, even if it's between CM10 and AOKP, without the hassle of having to backup, restore, etc. And from what I've heard of dual booting on Android devices, the apps stay up to date with eachother. Like data from apps, and text messages will carry over etc. But I may be wrong.
It would be nice to be able to have a stock image as well as your favorite rom so for GPS issues and prl/profile issues you could just boot back to stock real quick, update and then be on your way.
Dual booting is possible.
If the I9100 developers can do it, so can we... We just need a kernel that makes this possible.
Here is a link to the Siyah kernel which has dual boot capabilities.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=23810024
And please, don't be an idiot... DO NOT FLASH THIS ON YOUR EPIC 4G TOUCH!!!
Sent from my SPH-D710 using xda premium
Mattix, I googled and found that, that's what really made me think it's possible. But our kernel is way different, so I didn't take that just as a possibility.
Sent from my SPH-D710 Sprint Samsung Galaxy SII Epic 4G Touch
The hardware us the same except for the radio and nfc... We can dual boot with the right kernel.
Sent from my SPH-D710 using xda premium
Chris is good with that. I wonder how we could persuade him to give it a shot.
Sent from my SPH-D710 Sprint Samsung Galaxy SII Epic 4G Touch
Either him or agat, and possibly get the Siyah dev to jump in. A combination of all 3 would make one awesome kernel.

Dual booting is not impossible, but the bootmanager app which allows booting numerous roms from sd would need an entirely separate app for our device due to the zImage needing to be implemented into a bootmanager specifically for devices with zImage kernels. Combining it into the existing version is impossible due to the boot from sd function needing

ATT S3 development fund raiser for the legendary scotts rom

As a long time user of Scotts Rom for the Galaxy Note 2, I continue to be absolutely impressed with his talents, tenacity towards refining his builds and how great they run. Nothing fancy, just the smoothest, de bloated as close to stock as you can get without all that att nastiness.
He does not own an ATT S3 and thus that to me is a major bummer.
So in speaking with Scott, he has fully committed to building his amazing roms for the ATT S3. My reason for this, I recently bought my wife an S3 and would like to have his work on her phone.
He has already done an amazing job with developing a rom for the Verizon S3 which you can see here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1832070
First, take a look at the amazing feedback he gets for the Note 2, 475 pages of positivity
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1986893
There is a direct link to donate and the funds go directly to him.
http://www.gofundme.com/scottsroms-ATT-S3-Fund
We are hoping to get $550 so he can buy it straight out. In return we get what will probably be one of the best S3 roms out there today. And his long term commitment to refine this rom just like he does with the Note2
Lets make this happen !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I wish this would have happened a long time ago. Loved his ROMs on the HTC one x. Wish I could help but all my donations go to task. If he came over I would throw down something for when I need a change from AOKP would love love to have him here awesome dev

Scott has the fastest, most battery eff. clean roms I,ve seen. I am currently using his rom on my note 2 and would love to have this on my wifes s III. He develops roms for many devices, including the verizon s iii, but needs the att s iii to test and develop for us.. Check out his threads on the att and verizon note 2 and verison s iii devloper threads and see how others praise him for his work. If you want the most stable battery eff. rom available help us get the att s iii. Scott made the commitment to develop for this phone but can't affford to buy it just for us. If interested check the link above on OP, if enough people get on board it wouldn't cost us much each and would be well worth it.
Might as well give it a shot.

If it's features your looking for then TW is the answer. If it's customization then aosp. TW will never be as customizable as aosp and aosp will never have the features of TW. You apparently love customization. I live my features.
