Can someone explain this to me please ? - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S II SGH-T989

Hi guys,
Im still disappointed about my screen and looking to exchange my phone pretty soon. But for now I have other issue.
Tonight I was texting with my phone and my battery was around 60%, then suddenly my phone froze and it got shut-off. I tried to turn it on but nothing happened so I removed the battery and the phone turnes on just fine. Then I notice a ~%30 drop in my battery level as it shows in the picture I have attached. What the hell is this and why mu phone froze ??
I never rooted the phone and it is still lock to Telus.
Thank You in advance.

well according tot he usage tracker, there was some serious usage by the drop on WiFi, Awake and Screen
on the other hand that sudden drop, could mean the battery actually had less charge than the sensor detected, so it readjusted itself

Oh so after the restarted the phone detected the actual charge of the phone ? So thata kinda normal ?
How about the frozen phone ? Has anyone had their T989 phone frozen so far ?

I've had mine for almost 2 weeks now (stock, not rooted) and it hasn't frozen/restarted/etc.
Also luckily I have minimal screen issues. I would exchange it and hopefully get a better one, because I really love this phone!

Not sure in your case but
i know some root only required apps allow you to push/continue anyways maybe a force close or something caused a freeze

Battery issues with aokp

I didn't want to ninja the aokp thread so I'm posting this here. So for a while i was running aokp version 26 with no real issues. I wasn't following the development for a while so when i checked back they were at version 32 which runs 4.0.4.
I also want to mention I'm running no new apps, basically the same setup as when i was on 26.
Facebook seemed to be a big culprit and when i closed that it helped a bit. The screen seems to be using more than it did too. I am mainly concerned with all the wake time. The phone is awake a lot more than the screen is on.

system wakelock ?
whats the name of that app sucker app you posted.
reset your kernel, wipe and then flash again. It might help
It's called badass battery manager pro. I downloaded it last night from the market because someone on another forum suggested it. It's pretty nice in that it shows battery use app by app.
I'm also using lean kernel. Flashed it a couple days ago. Was using trinity for a while then tried out lean. It actually runs a lot smoother with lean but no battery change.
today it actually isn't to bad. All i did was manually stop Facebook. So once again it seems fb was causing issues. That app is junk.
i am still curious why it is awake so much. GPS is off, wifi is off (always have 3 or 4g), sync is off. Only thing i leave on is nfc but i have been told that is only active when the screen is on. I use no weather type widgets either. I have no clue what would keep waking the phone.
Edit: and what do you mean by reset the kernel. Maybe I'm doing it wrong. I installed the rom, then a couple days later flashed the lean kernel over trinity. Is there another way to do it?

I only saw battery improvements with AOKP's 4.0.4 integration.
Quick update, i have a screenshot from a better part of the day. I'm getting a ton of awake time. are there any common culprits that i can maybe freeze with titanium?

Yeah, I'm going to stop using the Facebook app I think. It's such a drainer. I don't mind a game taking up battery on its own but something like that should not use as much as it does! Hopefully they fix it soon.

Is this a new One X problem/issue?

Today my phone, for no known reason is trying to download this "tmm.jpg,ttm.jpg" I cannot not stop the process as yet, this is what I have tried...
1. Long and short pressing the icon (nothing happens)
2. Toggling on and off wifi and network data
3. Restart
4. Turn on and off
5. Stopping all running apps
6. 3 & 4 again
Yet it is still trying to download, I have no idea what tmm.jpg,tmm.jgp is, but, I assume some kind of picture file, maybe something to do with android or the 3 branding on my phone?
I am on 3 network UK and yesterday I upgraded to 1.28.771.9 the latest 3 branded software.
Not only is this problem annoying, but it is killing my battery. Please can someone help I don't want to factory restore if I don't have to.
Here is a screen shot...

Weird, it has finally stopped downloading on its own, after about 2 hours?!! Not sure what it was, but should this happens to anyone else just wait, it takes a long time whatever it is.
Get yourself a good antivirus..u can go for AVG..

I've had that prob a few times in the past and found that going into settings > apps > all > download manager > clear data + cache gets rid of the gremlins
Thanks I'm sure you're post will help others. Fortunatly for me this issue hasn't returned, touch wood.

Yeh useless most malware isn't detected, its only removed when Google pull it don't waste space/power or time in them.

Nothing to do with 3, look's like you went on a website with some sort of virus. If that download has completed, I'd be extremely weary. I recommend Kaspersky or maybe even AVG like mentioned above.
Hi all,
Just installed avast anti virus from the market, it says my phone is virus free so that's a relief.

Screen cutting on by itself while locked?

Any ever notice their screen cutting on and off by itself? I've noticed this on my Xoom which is also running 4.0.4 so I assume its a 4.0.4 issue. Here's a pic of my battery stats. U can see all the screen on and awake lines. When I took the phone out my pocket and placed on my desk I noticed it. Then my battery stats reflected short spurts of screen on activity. That's it cutting on..sitting on lock screen...then turns off...then keeps doing it. Any else notice this it notice have a battery stat that looks like this?

Using gosms? It has the option to wake the screen upon receiving a text. But I'd assume you would know that if that's what it was.

Nah. I can't seem to duplicate it. Currently trying to now
Sent from my Xoom using XDA Premium HD app
It seems like you have an app running in the background and causes the phone to wake on occasion. Try an app like better battery stats to see what might be causing the wakes.

Same issue here, but I suppose it´s an application issue, asi I have benn on 4.0.4 since 15/20 days ago, and issue started yesterday. Installing Better Battery Stats and will let you know of any result
Definitely an app issue.

any updates to this? i've noticed mine coming on last night as well. stock 4.0.4
so far i have disabled google+ and deleted euro2012 app. both registered in the task manager as the screen kept coming on ( i would kill them, and shortly after they would reappear, and the screen would turn on).
I can say this is an app issue, many of the TF users complained about it and that was generally the fix.
My friend was having this issue and the battery icon would say the phone was charging , he said he stopped using live wallpaper or just a wallpapaer in general and it stopped doing it , don't know if that's something to try ,

after disabling those two apps, it hasn't woken up during last night at all. fingers crossed

The amazing moving app drawer!

Over the past couple of days, the app drawer on my unrooted stock Note 2 had taken to moving about randomly.
I'm not overly concerned about it, but I'm wondering if anyone else had experienced this.
Thus far, I've seen it move to the centre and the second rightmost position.
This morning, I actually watched it swap position when I unlocked my phone.
Regards,
Dave

It would be awesome if we can move it on command though, I want it in the middle.
Is everything still working correctly when it's moved?

Yes, everything still works fine. I wouldn't mind it in the centre all the time either.
Thus far, moving the other shortcuts around tends to snap the app drawer back, but it was weird this morning to see it move because I could swear it was animated (as opposed to simply just flipping position).

Dave

BTW turn your friggin wifi off if you're not using it, same goes for BT. Why would you waste your battery?

On this phone, doesnt matter. I no longer worry about cutting any service off and cant kill my battery! This is the way all phones should work! :good:

Thanks for the advice, but no thanks!
Battery life on the Note 2 is frankly epic, even if I leave WiFi and BT on.
I don't go chasing battery life on a device that can easily get me through the day.

Facebook showing GPS usage when it's disabled (4.2.1)?

Why does the GPS area in the screenshot show over 90 minutes of usage when I have GPS turned off? Any ideas?

Facebook has been long known to be a poorly coded app (even the newest version) I've stuck to using the browser only because it's so buggy. I'd chalk it up to that...
Turn location off inside settings of app.

The lastest build of their app is by far the worst I have used personally. Someone posted an older build which does not have as many features, but it is way less buggy.
LMK if you want a link.

im seeing the same problem on my phone now, simply annoying. its my #1 battery drain even without using the phone or app.
app can be completely off, not on process list, gps turned off, location turned off in app, still goes up! might start using the mobile site instead of app.... until this can be fixed

That's exactly what was happening with my phone. I've been using the app that dschreiber69 provided earlier in this thread, but because Facebook eats so much battery on this phone I haven't been using it much anymore. Furthermore, I haven't been using Facebook much on either my phone or a computer. I'm getting sick of it, same crap every day. Nothing new. Blah.
