Can we get a TELUS specific forum for T989 for us canadians? - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S II SGH-T989

Hi,
Love XDA, but can we get a specific forum for Telus T989 users? There are two versions of this phone out to the masses and it's getting confusing for roots, roms and other with only a T-Mobile forum.
If others agree, please voice your support for this idea.
Thanks,
Dennis

AllGamer has already stated beforehand that because the hardware is exactly the same, there is not much point in opening another forum for the Telus variant. Rooting is exactly the same, except for getting into Download Mode and ROMs work on both phones.
It's just as if you would make a separate forum for each Motorola Atrix or Galaxy Nexus.

eggxactly!

my bad, u may delete this thread

[DEV] Honeycomb Progress

Hello developers,
A thread has been created to help to make the honeycomb functional.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1025263
Please share your knowledge and let's make this sweet.
**The thread goes for both the GSM and CDMA versions
This is why I think it was a silly idea to split GSM and CDMA forums, they could have clearly been separated by peoples eyes and tags. Now we have to mess about going back and forth instead of having everything in one topic/forum

it would be wise to create another forum, this time with mixed topics from both, like this case

Indeed, Or just scrap the splitting of GSM and CDMA altogether.
A dedicated HoneyComb forum would be a good idea though.
Now we have 4 hc threads going its bound to get confusing

Maybe that's why Spacemoose1has released the third build with a purportedly easier install, and getting no comments whatsoever

I'd prefer a dedicated honeycomb forum.
I find the forums much better now.... as a euro gsm tab owner I no longer have to sift through all the non-relevant info for gsm tab topics and I'm sure cdma users have similar views.
So we have *another* honeycomb thread that just links us to another Honeycomb thread? Jesus. This GSM/CDMA split was a bad decision.

I don't think it was a bad choice, I just think people are to lazy to open up more than 1 tab at a time in their browser. I don't have any problems keeping track of various threads in various forums... that's what the subscribe button is for! I do think that this and it's attached thread are a very bad idea, considering we have a GSM and a CDMA post already in place to track the development. There (shortly) wont be a need to cross-check between CDMA and GSM platforms, because they will become their own entities... they just are not at the moment. (At least not in the Honeycomb realm)
Everyone in the HD2 forums thought separating them as they are now was going to be bad... but jesus, with 7 OS's on one device, that'd be ridiculous...

the purpose tf link to the other thread is to attract the GSM Devs to the HC thread, it is not a GSM or CDMA division here, many GSM devs don't check that CDMA often so this link-thread is for gather everyone in one place.
we had 2 or 3 HC threads but none was purely for general development, so this one is for that.

No, this one is to point people to that one and that one is just a copy of information available on the other two... It's redundant.
Trust me, GSM devs are checking all the forums... If not, than they are cruddy devs.

I guess that is true, but that's xda for ya! People don't like searching.
We have Specemooses update thread, the CDMA and GSM rom threads. This thread and the thread this links to are unnecessary IMHO.

Samsung Galaxy Gio Forum?

Hello,
I'd like to request a forum for the Samsung Galaxy Gio GT-S5660 and GT-S5660M (Bell Canada variant).
There are already two or three ROMs that have been posted for the Euro 5660 and I've managed to make an ODIN flashable stock 5660M backup, meaning people can safely get to work on that variant as well.
The device launched a few months ago in Europe and Asia, and two weeks ago in Canada.
Right now the posts are scattered all over, or worse mixed in related Galaxy family phone threads like the Mini or the Ace...
Its a mid-range device and I don't think there's the critical mass to make a 4-5 forum setup, but at least a single place where the few existing threads could be moved would be nice.
Thanks in advance,
Darkshado

Sprint Galaxy Nexus

Hey guys, just opened my new Sprint Samsung Galaxy Nexus and got it activated. Any word on any roms that are going to be baked up for the Sprint version? I see there is not an appropriate section yet. I know this is somewhat of a question, but I think other might be looking for this post when they open their phone today too. Thanks!
ditto
You Sprint folks need to learn where to post. Sprint is CDMA...but questions, etc. need to be posted in the appropriate forum.

Actually this forum is specifically for Verizon CDMA. I'm sure a new forum will be started specifically for Sprint.
Doubt it. They are too similar. There is no reason to split the forum for Sprint.
I say a special forum for sprint would keep things less cluttered and less confusing I don't see any harm in it ...
Just a thought ..

unless everything that works for verizon will work on sprint, it defiantly needs a new section

Well in the general sprint galaxy nexus thread looks like everything works except phone service LOL
So a new forum would be nice, but i guess they could just fix a minor something in these roms and put up a sprint version.
I just think it would be less cluttered and crowded if we each had our own section, to discuss whatever..
And how is this Development?.

[Q] Model Differences

I was wondering if anyone could tell me the differences between the SGH-T889 (T-Mobile USA Version) and the Unlocked International versions, GT-N7100 and GT-N7105? I'm not really sure (other than the obvious about one being unlocked and able to use with any carrier and one being specific to T-Mobile) what the difference is between the three and benefits of one over the other? I'm in the USA, so I was wanting to know which would be best for USA compatibility. Thanks!
yeah this is confsing me as well. whats the difference between 7100, 7010 etc
best,
Sir no reason to double post threads, and questions belong in the Q&A section. Thank You and moved.
And Sir, maybe this can help, Google took me HERE

all the answers are on google. pdadb.net is a good place to see the differences. the only hardware differences are the radios. so check out that site.

[Q] [NEED HELP] I Am Using Verizon Galaxy S4 On T-Mobile.

As the title states, I am using my unlocked Verizon galaxy S4 on T-mobile. The problem I am having is that because it is loaded with all of Verizon's software it doesn't function the same way as an S4 from T-Mobile would. I get edge, 3G and, H+ Data connectivity but, it is spotty and more edge than anything.
My question is:
Is there a way to basically transform this Verizon phone into a T-Mobile phone by flashing T-mobiles radio firmware, Kernels and, OS? I cannot find this question being asked anywhere and I have been scouring the internet for 2 days. I am rooted and running CWM recovery. I have been an avid modder since the release of the first Cyanogen mod for the T-Mobile G1. I guess what I'm saying is, I don't care how technically complicated it is. If it is AT ALL POSSIBLE,,, I just want to do it.
I am not trying to be mean in saying what I am about to say next so please, no one take this the wrong way.
If you do not know the answer to this question please do not post one. Do not post a response of NO just because that's what you've heard or assume is correct. I am posing this question to experienced developers NOT modders like myself who simply use others work for our devices. I did find in a Google search where someone posted a tutorial on how to do this but, for reasons that I am not aware, the thread was discontinued.
Thank you for any help. I refuse to give up on this. I've made it my mission and I will not quit until the phone explodes.

This paragraph is unnecessary. If we are posting in the QnA section we are either providing our knowledge or telling toy that this question has been answered already. There is rarely any trolling on here. (At least in this section) If we are replying to your question with an answer than it is probably the beat answer we can provide. if we reply with a few word response than take it. We do this on our free will. Take any reply you get seriously no matter how long the post.
Now on topic, you can only flash an m919 ROM on any other s4, besides the i9500. Not sure about radios, but DO NOT flash an m919 Kernel* on your Verizon s4. Only do it if you want a fancy paperweight.

I am here to help and provide knowledge to help others with there problems/issues. If you do have a question don't be afraid to shoot me a PM and I will help you and put you in the right direction to the best of my ability and will get your problem and/or issue solved.

I have been on here for years. there have been many times over the years that I have helped others do something that some said to be impossible and there are time when people have helped me do things that were said to be impossible. that paragraph was not aimed at you so do not take it personal. I've just been on here long enough not to be irritated by trollers but, rather by people who do not have any clue what they are talking about answering questions they do not know the answers to simply so they can attempt to look smarter than they are. if this does not apply to you then ignore that paragraph but, you cannot say that it wasn't necessary. You say, "we are providing our knowledge" this is a broad statement that you cannot make because you can only speak for yourself and those that you know personally. unfortunately there are many more than you and your friends on the internet. So if you understand that that wasn't directed at those that are helpful, there there is no need for debate
Thank you for the info though.
Not asking for debate not was I taking it personal, just informing that you don't need to add that extra paragraph. If you feel someone is trolling you then retort them

Verizon is CDMA, T-Mobile is GSM. Different radio hardware required.
There are both GSM and CDMA radios in the galaxy s4. That is how I'm using it on t mobile now. This has been a topic of discussion since the phone was released and responses have been back and forth as to whether it was possible to use it on a GSM network at all. then it was discovered that it is in fact a world phone.it is simply carrier locked which under normal circumstances would make you right however, mine is unlocked and able to utilize both. Thank you for your response.
