Acer Iconia A100 does not have active digitizer - Acer Iconia Tab A100

The information in the title would have saved me 60 €. I searched and searched but could not find information. SO I went ahead and bought a pen using active digitizer scribble technology. Needless to say, it does not work.
What styluses have you used?

HTC Universal Parts (Screen) Needed

I pulled my Universal out of my pocket on Saturday and I have a crack down the screen on the left side.
Does anyone know a good store with Universal parts? I found a store that will repair it for me for US$250, but that is a bit too much. Assuming the screen is US$100 - US$150, I'll do it myself. I can still use it, but I really want to fix this because I love it very much.
If someone has a broken Universal that has a good LCD / Digitizer assembly, I'll buy it from you for US$100 or whatever you think is fair.
screen available on ebay
I've seen them on ebay, but they aren't cheap, the combo screen digitizer is around $200. If you want to do it yourself, there is the factory service manual on the ftp site, it's an illustrated step by step guide for disassembly and reassembly.
here is a link for the manual
ftp://ftp.xda-developers.com/Universal/Manuals/confidential
I would say good luck, but the manual looks pretty good so you should't need it, just make sure you use an anti static pad and antistatic gloves or grounding strap.
I replaced the screen in an iPaq 3850 (pda-only) a few years ago, so I'm not really afraid of doing it... I just need to find the part in the first place! haha
Thanks for your input.
Just search for "lcd qtek 9000" on ebay and you'll find plenty of sellers of screens. I bought one myself for $180 a while ago. Worked like a charm.
From the XDA-Wiki Click on "Look up the HTC part number". then get the part number, or take apart your phone if you want to be sure. Search for the part number on google.com, froogle.google.com and ebay.
searching with froogle for TD028STEB1 I just found one on ebay. BuyItNow price of $60 with $19 shipping (plus a free screen guard). I expect that if you look a little more you may be able to get one slightly cheaper.
edit: opps I looked the one for Magician, Wizard, Apache, but you get the idea.
Looked for ACX526AKM-7 and found one store on ebay that sells it. Oddly enough the same product from the same store without that serial number in the name is between $4 and $14 cheaper (depending on bidding or buy it now).
The one without is $149.99 starting bid ($159.99) and the one with the serial in the name is $169.00 buy it now (seller "i like parts"). Comes with a tool and screenprotector.

Capacitive pen for taking notes.

Hey, I'm looking to take some notes on my tab and was looking for some suggestions. I've found a couple cool programs but need a pen.
My noted are almost all math related so equations and such.
Any advice would be very helpful.
Sent from Samsung Galaxy S2 on TELUS.
When it comes to capacitive stylus, I believe price is a good signal of quality. I have tried both high end (e.g., boxwave) and low end (generic, bundled with other accessories), and the difference is very noticeable. Good luck taking math notes.... I am an economist and my note-taking involves math too. You are going to have a hard time getting good results. I tried doing this, but had to go back to my clunky convertible tablet to get the results I needed. Unless you get a slate with a digitizer (like the Flyer or the Thinkpad), you are pretty much out of luck.
Your not out of luck... just need this!!
As u guys know capacitive stylus have a very wide point so that it can be recognized by the device, therefore affecting precision. Thankfully some people already came up with a solution. U have to options.
1) DIY fine ponit stylus with materials u can find in ur house... for FREE:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vHhB2BF5yQM
I found a blog where someone made a more precise intructions .... but I don't
remember the site!
2) Someone took the idea to kickstarter and now they are commercializing there
version of a fine point stylus.... only that it cost around 20-30 bucks:

I just pre ordered one of these bad boys!!!
Hmm, looks intriguing. I'm not holding my breath until this type of technology is proven and reviewed thoroughly. Thanks for sharing.
Edit; Here's the blog with the detailed instructions:

Will take a look. Still in the market for a tablet. I like tthe 10.1 but would be better if I could take notes.
I find the flyer too small for me and the one that att has is like $800 so I'd rather use paper than that lol.

i just ordered one, i guess for $8 it is worth trying
The more I look at htc's pen the more I like it, I might have to just suck it up and get a 7inch tablet.

Doesn't the Lenovo Thinkpad tablet also come with a digitizer and pen?
I'll try the DIY out and let you know how it goes, looks easy enough and I have everything needed. I paid one looks great as well, but I'll wait fir the reviews to roll in. Thank you for showing this to us.
How about this one?

I'm considering it, but I don't like to waste money and really want a decent accuracy.

The Dagi came first than the one i showed u guys... but I've read some reviews and they say that it's hard to get used to because w this one u have to write w a certain angle for it to work at its best.
That sucks.
I made my own last night. I'm not good at that kinda stuff so although it worked, it was a little off.
I need one so that I can take small notes on an image of a form, but it just didn't like writing small. I'm wondering if that's the case for most of them.

You can probably do that using Sketchbook Pro. Just import the image, zoom in on where you need to write, merge the layers when done and save.
I too am looking for something to take notes on. I bought a Flyer and it was pretty inaccurate. This is one of those things where if it isn't done right it will be horrible experience. My best suggestion would be to wait for the Samsung Series 7 Slate. I know its pretty expensive but look at like this it can replace your laptop.
The 12.1 Asus eePad slate (Windows-based) gets good reviews on the note-taking area.
first of all: out there are a varaity of stylus for your tabs and phones. the regular capacitive pens you'll find for a buck or two on ebay are the same as the ones cellphone companies sell for like $20, does are just like using your finger and are only good for people with big/fat fingers since they cant type on keyboard well and other stuff like that without hitting the wrong key. but some genius chinese guy invented this wish you can make at home by yourself without any money:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vHhB2BF5yQM&NR=1&feature=endscreen
but also two companies took this idea and patented it, and here are the results
Dagi:
P501 and P502 (old method with just stylus)
P601 (old method with ink pen in one end and stylus in the other)
P504, P505, P506 and P507 (new idea, very acurate, just like a pen or pencil)
(the P504 comes in 9 different colors)
P602 (new idea, very acurate, just like a pen or pencil- and also an ink pen in the other end)
Adonit:
Jot and Jot Pro (The best out there)
I have a Dagi P504 and an Adonit Jot Pro. I use the on my Tab on Sketchbook Pro and other Drawing and Note-Taking apps. They both are very good but the dagi does not have a cap so the point can bend in a backpack or something and the adonit jot pro is very sleek in desing and has a cap. Its up to each ones likes. I paid $18 for the P504 and $30 for the Jot Pro. I bought them on ebay. You can find all of the styles on ebay.
You can find all of the styles on ebay. You will find The Dagi from $15-$30 depending on styles and the Adonit from $25-$45
The idea from the guy on the vid works great too
NOTE: I have the Galaxy Tab 10.1 Galaxy 10.1 owners: You must have root on your device and use TouchScreenTune (free app that fixes your touch screen sensitivity). Otherwise the writing will lag. Link below:

Motorola Stylus pen with Precision Tip
On Motorola site, it says that a Stylus pen with precision tip is becoming available soon. By its picture, it seems that it is indeed precise. On the compatibility tab, it says it is compatible with XYBoard only. Is XYBoard touchscreen different from Xoom? In my opinion, if it is compatible with Xoom, it is compatible with the SGT 10.1, isn't it?
Here's the link for the pen: http://goo.gl/1y6Pb

Stylus Pen Compatible?

Has anyone tried using a pen on there S2? I would like to get one for drawing on it...
Just curious before I buy one off ebay cuz I bought one off ebay for my last touch screen phone and it didn't work even though it said it would be compatible. I did a quick search and the listings says it works for it but I want to know if anyones tried them.

Say no more as there are already suggestions (as well as my own re DaGi I have).
Cheers,
fevv.
You will be able to use a stylus as long as it's designed for any capacitive screens. Capacitive stylus has a conductive tip so that capacitive screens can recognize the pen. Typical hard tipped stylus for pressure-sensitive screens won't work.
I bought some capacitive stylus on ebay for 40 cents, and they work fine. Don't expect them to be precise though.
Precise... hummm... with DaGi P101 stylus I was able to do this in 5-10 minutes playing around... and I'm a bit rusty at drawing.Imagine a true artist doing it.
see attached pics.
Awesome thanks for the info guys! Just bought a DaGi off ebay! Thanks again!
damn i would buy one if i could draw like this
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d4xleEK30_I&feature=related
I might buy one as well, well not for me because I don't know how to draw, but I gave my gf once galaxy tab with application to draw on it...and she's hooked up since then

Wanted: replacement screen for Archos 70

I've had an Archos 70 for about two years, and finally, the inevitable happened... I had it in the front pocket of my trousers, bent down, and cracked the screen. The touchscreen may still work, but it's hard to tell, because most of the display is all whited out. If anyone has an A70 that's broken in some different way, with a working screen, I'd be happy to pay shipping and a reasonable cost for it. Alternatively, if anyone knows a supplier and part number for a replacement screen, I'd appreciate the info.

Replacement S Pen

Does anyone know or have recently purchased a replacement S Pen? I've looked on Amazon and the only one that came across as genuine supposedly has no pressure sensitivity, and on Ebay it's the same seller. Everywhere else has either stopped selling them or they're out of stock. I have the full sized S Pen to hold me over but the offset is annoying.
I'm in the U.S. also
I got one from Ali. Works as original.

I've gone through quite a few of these third party replacents. Not one of them had pressure sensitive or replaceable nibs as the original. Contacting Samsung is a waste of time, as they prefer you to buy a new tablet when the pen dies.
Seriously, I went to an "offficial" parts website for Samaung S-PEN replacement. I couldn't even get a PART NUMBER from the site. IMHO, Samsung is leaving such sales in the hands of the very poor quality fakes selling all over.
I LIKE my Tablet. But the ONLY way I would buy another one with the S-Pen (which I love) is if the store I bought it from could prove that they could GET Spens, by sellingme a spare at the time! Samsung shuold maybe stop with the bajilion differnt models and SUPPORT the one time great products that they used to have.
Still want a working/not fake pen. ;-Deano
I feel your pain I caved in and bought a knock off on Amazon. It has pressure sensitivity but the nib is plastic and I feel like I'm scraping the screen everytime I write. It's the best we can get though :crying:

But I don't understand WHY Samsung actually REFUSES to let retail stores to carry them? They really seem to be pushing their owners support right out the door. It's not as if were so impossible to conceive of anybody losing a pen..
Who's writing THIS business plan...Trump? ;-Deano
I had the same problem. Tried to order an OEM from CompSource but turned out they were out of stock. Went for a knockoff. Its not bad, but its not good either. Sad that my Note is still very usable but the lack of a decent replacement stylus may force me to find something else.
If you like to use pressure sensitive s pen, you can purchase an s pen of note 3, note 4 or note 5 but of course they are not attachable to device because of their shape.
I lucked out and found the Wacom Bamboo Feel on eBay. Not cheap, but very sweet. AND it was made for this tablet!! ;-DeanoD
i did a quick search on 2 sites in uk handtec and hyper-direct and both have what appear to be original pens for the p600 and tabpro. There is no mention of pressure sensitivity but they are only £8.00 so i may pick one up to see. Since i also have the note 3 i can use that pen in a pinch but it might not be a bad idea to have a spare anyway.
I just did a Google Search and found a bunch of knock-offs, but eight genuine ones for the Note 10.1(2014) were there as well. The real McCoy isn't cheap, costing anywhere from $29 to $16. The reason Samsung doesn't market them is inventory. It costs them too much to have pens for a long out of production tablet laying around.
It looks like genuine replacement S-pens for the Note 2014 can be ordered from here: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/New...alaxy-Note-10-1-2014-Edition/32601677612.html
Not expensive, either, just $7.14.
Also, replacement S-pens are available on Amazon, in Canada and the USA.
Ebay is where I purchased mine - sealed bag - correct length of pen and replacement tips - which my original pen did not have. Very pleased. Cant post a link not enough posts. Seller was tech-24-2.
I also got the samsung Spen with Erasure from another dealer - used with a further 5 tips - that with my note4 means I have 15 spare tips - yipee a lifetime worth.
