I would love a case like the IPAD smart cover for the NOTE - Galaxy Note GT-N7000 Accessories

the cases with the stands arent available yet.
but the next best thing is the samsung flip cover. it replaces the back cover of the galaxy but adds a leather cover for the screen.

I got one of those it came free with my phone. It does look very good but i gotta say it offers no real protection. It doesnt cover the metal sides and the fact that it cant be 'locked' onto the screen means theres a good chance it will flip open if you drop ur phone and the screen can still be damaged. It makes taking photos extremely inconvenient too.
I now have 2 of those flip covers sitting on my desk gathering dust, the other one came free with my gf's white note.

This is sort of like an ipad cover/stand thingy

really expensive

That wouldn't even work. The magnets and sensors in the iPad are what lets the awesomeness happen. The Note doesn't have either

Well, neither would an iPad2-style smart cover, which is what the OP was asking about!
For me, the flip case is perfect because what I want a case for is simple to protect the screen when I put the phone in my pocket. Impact protection is doesn't figure into my personal requirements because I consider the additional bulk to be an unacceptable trade off for the protection that it would offer in the very rare event that I drop the device. YMMV of course!
The thing I like about the flip cover, other than the fact that it adds almost no bulk to the device, is that I find myself holding the Note one handed much like I would a paper back book, with my thumb on the inside of the cover, 3 fingers behind the device and cover, and my little finger resting on the edge of the bottom of the note.
I also find the cover a great stabiliser when taking photos in landscape as I flip the cover down and use it as part of my "grip". It works to a lesser degree in portrait too, though to start with it does feel a little more cumbersome.
Regards,
Dave

Absolutely, I love how the flip actually makes the Note a lot easier to hold safely. I'm actually happy to have it out while walking around, whereas I've been afraid I'd drop it on the pavement without the flip. I'd pay good money for an app that would switch it on and off when the proximity/light sensors see the case open or close, that would be great...

This really works but specially the locking option. if i close the flip cover it actually turn off.
wish it would be the same on how unlocking it with just opening the flip cover.
very nice findings

Official Flip Cover questions please

Can anyone upload some pics of it on please.
Does it fit perfect?
How's quality, does it scuff easily?
Does it fold back on itself so you can use the phone like this?
Does it stay shut ok, is there anything to keep it closed? Im a bit worried it might end up getting folded the wrong way so doesn't stay closed properly? Would be great to have an iPad like smart cover...
I'm about to order a white S3, but am going to get the blue flip case as I like the contrast between the two, anyone have this combo?
I have the official white flip case and it looks really good. You remove the original back off the galaxy siii and clip in the flip case instead. A perfect fit too. Very professional looks good to me. The top flip part does fold behind back of phone easily! seems designed to fold that way too!
When flip cover is closed over screen it doesnt fasten in place but it does stay in place well. Only bought phone and flip case yesterday..

I ordered a flip case with my vzw preorder, but I'm going to get the wireless charger when it releases and that requires a unique back cover that I suppose will then make the flip cover useless to me....

NO. WAY!!!
/sarcasm
I got mines for free from P4U they gave me a 32gb card and an original case i was shocked i thought it would be a cheap case lol..
It fits perfect the interior for the front is a soft cloth like the ones you get when you buy a screen protector..
The outside is hard plastic feels awesome to the touch.. It does cover the LED so you will miss your notifications if you do happen to miss it. But at in the dark you can see it..
Oh and the back bit adds a bit of weight to it so your phone feels alot more heavier not too heavy though makes it feel perfect.. Back plate isn't flexible either it's solid..
I've not had any scuffs at all in the last 4 days i have been using it so no it doesn't get ruined easily I guess..
Other then that it's a brilliant case..
Has anyone purchased the blue version of the flip case? How does the shade of "chrome blue" compare to the "pebble blue" of the original back?

My idea is to get the white S3 and buy the blue flip cover, I think they look good together
The problem with the official flip case is that it actual replacing the original back cover and it is made from the same material just like the original back cover.
The display is protected but the back side...well...unprotected...you can still scratch the back.
After several weeks or months the back cover will still be damaged and it will look ugly with all that scratches...and then what? buy another flip cover?
Has anyone tried to combined the official flip case with another case or bumper or whatsoever to protect the back cover?
With this for example:
http://www.incipio.com/Samsung-Gala...-S-III-feather-Ultralight-Hard-Shell-Case.asp
I would like to see a drop test with the flip cover vs no flip cover and see if it actually protects the screen, otherwise it doesn't worth anything.

Beside the fact that it does not protect the back cover.
I have also some doubts regarding this issue.
The thing is, there is lock or snap on mechanism on the flip case.
Meaning, the flip can be opened very easily...I dunno if this is still reliable if it falls like...not opening during fall and leave the screen unprotected.
Note:
Providing some degree of protection during fall, it is impossible to protect it to 100%.

No offense guys, but this is simply one of the worst ideas I have ever seen for a phone accessory. Why in the hell would anyone want to add more steps to accessing their phones? I can understand it with a tablet, where you're never in huge hurry to start working on something; but on a phone?!?! Flip-phones are extinct for a reason guys.

This. I have a flip-cover for my OG Galaxy Tab, but I've never been able to understand why you'd want one on a phone either.
Flip covers provide very little protection against drops; make it more inconvenient to instantly access your phone, and have an annoying floppy flap on the back when open during calls.
The only pros I can see is that it looks "adult", and that some flip covers fold to act as a landscape stand.

So you are also against leather pouches/sleeves?
It provides screen protection for when the phone is in a pocket.
No, the flip cover doesn't protect the back - it's not meant to since it is a replacement back. I.e. the mere fact that you can easily replace the back with a new one means that rather than put an additional cover on there you could just treat the back as a cover and replace it if it gets scratched.

Exactly.
I don't like cases in general. The back cover is a replacement as you say, the front flap is to protect the screen in pocket. This is exactly what I want. I don't want a bumper, back case that adds bulk to the phone. It's slim and light for a reason.
My other option is a pouch, so I can again protect in pocket, but use the phone naked

I have another solution (works for me): Put your keys and your change in your *other* pocket, then you don't need any pocket screen protection. As an added bonus, the screen emerges from your pocket with all the fingerprints mostly wiped off.

I bought it with the phone and Im really glad I did it..
it protects the phone really good (from behind and sides, there is no shield for the front)
it takes a few trys to understand how to put the phone inside, but once you understand its very simple
it doesn't cost much to my opinion and it worth it!
it is also looks very good I think..
Hope you'd like it

I gotta say, i picked it up as a temporary case and I love this thing.
getting the phone in: put rubber on first, hold phone horizontal and kind of upside down...please volume rockers in first then give power button side a little stretch out on the hard plastic and push in (its not bad at all once you understand the concept)
taking it off: the key for me is place left hand thumb on left hand side of phone, put pointer on top of phone (silicone part) and place middle finger in the speaker hole and push ( I can get it off without almost any struggle at all that way) ....or use left hand thumb on left hand side and left hand pointer in speaker hole while using right hand to pull that corner of the silicone and phone out.

had it before the tough
its too big and bulky, WAY too wide and the micro usb port cover is in general a pita to get to go in right, especially on the fly, and the screen protector portion can't be removed (like the otterbox) and replace with either nothing or a regular screen protector, marks up way to easy not to mention after removing and replacing the screen cover a few times for cleaning, it keeps lifting on the bottom right of my phone and doesn't always register my screen press until i reset the cover.
I prefer to Galaxy S3 Flip Case,it replaces the stock battery door with a new cover which looks identical, but includes a soft front flap that folds over the 4.8-inch display protecting it from scratches.

No protection for the bottom part of the tablet. Closing the case does not ensure the screen is actually protected as the part the screen is covered with can slide off of it. Dumped it quickly.

I do agree with some of the comments above however it is my case of choice. I sold a quality noreve leather case and stuck with the original Samsung book cover case as my daily driver with a solution to full protection using another protective case along with it.

You compromise portability by using two of those together. Check the one that was made by Samsung for Galaxy Tab 10.1 with a flap over the bottom part of the device and see how you could avoid using two cases instead of one.

Yes indeed it was a compromise however the weight of the two together was roughly the same as the leather case I had so for me did not matter. This setup gives me reassuarnce that even after a hard drop, the tablet should be safe whilst transporting as it is whilst on the move, that I am more likely to drop it. Once it it is in the office or at home, it is kept on the desk or on my bed without much risk of dropping and then I have the lightest and practical cover for my specific needs.
I have also purchased another bag that has a secure slot for any 10" tablet with padding around it and is used when I need to carry more than just my tablet with me and similarly when I take the tablet out, it is usually at a desk, this also eliminates the need for me to carry the second housing.
At the time of me buying my case, the one with the securing flap was not available otherwise I probably would have purchased that one instead. Having said that, I still probably would have bought a secondary case for transporting as the Samsung ones are too thin for real protection but are the most practical in my opinion.
The moral here is, if you are considering buying one of these thin cases, it is advisable to consider a second protective case or buy a fully protective leather / pu case that is adequately padded with the downside of it making the tablet feel a lot heavier.

I currently have the White GALAXY Note 10.1, and I had a faux leather case (generic) from Amazon, and gave it about 2 months of use.
After that I decided to risk my money and bet on the official book cover (in white, as well).
I must say it is extremely durable and gorgeous. It has, somehow, a corporate look, it's extremely thin and the back is well protected.
The cover, on the insides, has a thin and soft veil-like texture, and it sort of acts as a screen cleaner, each time you lift up the front part of the cover. (only applies to naked screen).
All in all, it's durable, I have the white for 2 months now and it's still the same pristine white as it was when it came in the box.
It's resistant and the writing position just works (no Steve Jobs quote intended).
If you have doubts, well, I recommend it!
official Samsung case is good looking, nice design, ****y quality and protection - mine is getting bubless by time on margins - squeezing it does remove them but wtf?! I recommend looking for something else !
I have been using the case for abouta week. I also havea screen protector on the tablet.
pros:
Very light weight
Feels good
Offers several viewing angles, when it works. See cons
Cons:
Magnets are not very strong and don't always hold it in the more up upright position.
Does not positively close, so it can expose your screen in a bag or back pack..
That said, I've been trying other solutions and none seem quite right. I have a gel case thatI bought to bulk up the tab to fit in a cheap cardboard folio usb keyboard case I have left over from another tablet. Although not very elegant, I thinkI will use it for travel as I can use the keyboard on airplanes, it provides extra protection, andI can remove three tablet with the gel case for just walking around. Just need a sturdy OTG and this set up is still less expensive than the official Samsung cover, unless you snag one of the 34.00$ deals from Amazon.
I've also tried the BT keyboard cover. Someone just needs to make one, who had actually useda tablet. Put the same clips in both sides so you don't have one that interferes with the space bar, make the shift and cap keys smaller so the keys can geta bit bigger and fall under you fingers, providea deeper trough so the tab is steadier and the back rest can be redesigned to help with that. I'm sure ZAGG will figure it out.
Finally because of the cons of the Samsung, I am thinking of ordering one of the knock offs that has the flap that closes on the back like the one for the tab10. I think I've seen it where the while thing, flap included, rolls like the iPad cover.
Finally, Samsung needs to work out the magnet thing, offer a smart cover, which should at least be possible with the phone variants.
I guess the simple answer to you question is mixed feelings about the official cover.

I ordered two knockoffs for wife and I. When it gets in from China, official covers go back to Best Buy. They offer virtually no protection and are so not worth the $50 each I paid for two.
I have a question to book cover owners: is it possible to rest your wrist on the tablet while taking notes when book cover is in the position like on the attached screen shot? Or your hand is to heavy and you and the magnet will slip of the back?
I would say that that position is ideal for typing and not the best position for resting the palm on especially if you are heavy handed as it's not really designed for taking heavy loads.

I can confirm that yes when the case is folded the back camera is covered. In order to take a picture with back camera you would need to hold up the flap while pushing the on screen capture. Not as difficult as it sounds but you look stupid doing it. I mean if your taking pictures in public with your tablet you look like a tool already so it shouldn't bother you to much. Ill get a picture on here soon.

That's exactly how it works, by magnet. It's also held closed by the same magnet.
As for the case it definitely gives a nice grippy/rubbery diamond texture and it being literally part of the phone gives the whole thing a nice look/feel. It's my wife's phone and i feel it'll aid in surviving the rigors of purse living. Depending on how the phone falls it should give passable drop protection with the front right edge bring the obvious weak point. She is quite happy with it and, despite initial sticker shock, hasn't regretted the purchase.
I do feel the hinge area could use some work as my wife's doesn't crease evenly along the length (not a big deal just cheapens the impression). Life span of the rubbery "hinge" is also a question. The way the edges of the flap come to a pointed crease rather than being more flush with the phone seems poorly executed to me. I've never had a case of the same style to compare it to unfortunately.

Best overall wallet/folio/diary case

since I'm using the word best, i must start off by saying it is always subjective.
http://m.araree.com/product/araree®-mustang-diary-for-galaxy-s10/291/?cate_no=174&display_group=1
why do i say it's the best?
-low profile, probably the only wallet case that is this low profile aside from nodus access case iii
-usable bill pocket, enough to put small notes considering the size of phone
-slots for cards, i understand some wallet case only provides 1 slot
-synthetic leather, low maintenance, dry and soft, not tacky
-suede finish inside, feels good
-hard shell, exposed buttons rather than enclosed. provides better flex or bend protection
-modifiable, why do i say so? since hard shell is slap on the interior case, it is definitely using adhesive. thankfully, i was able to peel the hard shell off and install a microsuction film. with the wider case, you should be fine with many slim case. currently I'm using the official clear case from samsung that is provided free.
-wireless chargeable, of course
-tactile buttons feel on the side of the case, easily identify where the buttons are, volume or bixby.
-different speaker hole design, on call? close the cover and u will still listen and talk fine.
-room for pressy or mswitch, if you are only tws earbuds person, you may consider getting additional buttons for your phone by utilizing the audio jack.
-made/designed in/from korea, not really a point but samsung from korea, definitely built best for it.
cons, maybe:
-no magnetic closure
how do you clean the microsuction film? use another adhesive tape.
do share your thoughts and the best wallet case you know if any.

http://m.araree.com/product/araree®-mustang-diary-for-galaxy-s10/291/?cate_no=174&display_group=1
why do i say it's the best?

It seems like having cards up against your phone screen is not very smart. Wish we had an old HTC style Ice View case would be awesome. Open the cover the screen comes on, close the cover the screen goes off. Plus see your notifications through the cover. But don't like my wallet mixed with my phone. I don't keep my phone in my back pocket and credit cards seem a little rough up against a $1,000 phone. Especially when we got Samsung and Google pay for that.
Also, edge squeeze would have been great. Missing that but that's another story.
In my honest opinion, all wallet cases are ??. I just don't want anything laying against my phone that's not a case or a screen protector. And I don't want to feel like I'm pulling a book out my pocket everytime I grab for it either. That's just MY opinion though.

no choice. in places where it requires certain card and cash, can't go without them.

yep. if there's no need for card and cash completely, no need for wallet.

quite expensive when import. can't find any better wallet case unless eyeing for brand. most importantly, a proper cash compartment and cards slot. other feature can be modified.

I bought this one today, its pretty cheap and the case is detachable from the wallet.

It says in the description the removable part is magnetized, for a magnet mount. I think it also snaps in the folio part with the magnet. I will update later when I receive it from Amazon.

consider modifying the case with microsuction instead. but it's up to you.
since samsung gear vr doesn't allow any case on the phone, it is only convenient to have a wallet case that detaches your phone easily.

I have used these in the past and I have one on order for my S10+ honestly forgot to order one until a couple days ago but I have used with every other phone I've had. Quality is top notch, fitment, use etc etc everything is wonderful. Kind of expensive but you get what you pay for!

My reasons for a wallet case is not for cards or cash. Just for screen/phone protection. Must be small enough to fit in my pockets, must have magnetic closure. seems most with magnets wont wirelessly charge correctly though. The Samsung LED case is a perfect fit, nice and slim. I could care less for the LED. It's not magnetic though so as soon as you fold cover back it wont stay closed. The front just springs open. You can leave it upside down overnight and that will help until next time you fold it, which is all day for me. Pull it out of my pocket and the front just springs open. If Whitestone Tempered glass weren't $60 and didnt crack once a week id use that and a regular case. They broke easy on my s8 and s9 too. Without dropping either in some cases, just mysteriously crack. I found a nice real leather folio case that seems to fit my needs perfectly. Magnetic, slim, firm and protects screen from scratches and i'm sure it will protect screen from drops better than any non otterbox or lifeproof case, unless it flys open on the way down and lands on the glass (My Samsung LED one did that, No magnet, Screen smashed) Which it shouldn't because it has a decent magnet. I have dropped phone once since getting this case and it stayed closed. Magnet works when folding the cover back as well, holds it to the back of the case nicely. Again i dont need it as a wallet, I prefer thin instead. This case smells like leather, beautiful smell. Slides in and out of pocket easy, it's not much bigger than a standard case.

try hanman wallet case. it has a magnetic closure and won't affect wireless charging or nfc.
for the case i'm using, so far it has never spring open or anything. it stays.

So credit cards scraping against your phone screen is no big deal?

why would it scrape the phone? so far the screen protector that comes with the phone has held up well without any scratches.

My buddy has a wallet case and he cracked his screen. Of course he treats his wallet case like a real wallet and keeps all his cards and money in it. I'm sure he wasn't being very careful with it.
I liked the magnetic cover cases on curved screens just to protect the screen since screen protectors are a hassle on curved screens.
