EXACTLY the same as yours.

So far It seems my phone DOES'NT suffer from SAV but here are my details anyway:
board name : tuna REV 9
board rev : hspa - 9
boot type : usb mmc1

build date : oct 30 2011 12:32:21
Same as the above 2 posts
Build date seems to be exactly the same down to the second. Maybe it refers to when the firmware was compiled?
//EDIT: Tested again and my handset does indeed have the problem

i have edited the title to reflect a more ambiguous data collection, rather than just getting a biased collection of data only from people that are experiencing the issue. it would be good to find out if people who aren't experiencing it have different details. thanks for your post.

My details are also the same as these and I'm experiencing the volume problem.

I know this isn't related to your post, but just thought I'd let you know.
Apparently the problem has been "fixed" by Google and Samsung with an update.
P3Droid reports it has been fixed and he's supposedly running the new version, 4.0.2.
"And now I'm one of very few people who is running Android 4.0.2.....Can't wait to see how this runs"

No issues here with Volume, tried it with a wildfire and galaxy. No issues, but i'll keep an eye on it.
Version 4.0.1

I've contacted Clove and asked if they can provide the information from one of the devices they claim to have tested and found no issues with. Hopefully they'll reply but we'll have to wait and see.

I hope you don't take this as offensive, but considering the overwhelming evidence that supports the theory that the entire current batch of handsets in the UK are suffering from this problem, would you please be willing to record a video showing that your handset isn't suffering from this problem?
In this video, could you also prove that the secondary handset is operating on 2G Vodafone?
I don't mean to come across as disbelieving, but we need cold hard facts here, and considering that the evidence thus far is conclusive with an issue with the entire batch, it seems incredible that you are not experiencing the problem.

Issue replicated
Galaxy Nexus on o2 (Running in 2g mode). Phone was brought "SIM Free" from O2 store, Leeds.
Nexus One on o2 (Running in 2g mode)
With Nexus One left in "3G" mode, issue did NOT replicate - we only saw the problem with the phone in 2g mode.
Followed youtube video, held Neuxs One over volume button then made a call on Nexus One. Volume rocker went whacky!
Maybe worth people including carrier information on their posts as well just to confirm those without the issue don't see it due to carrier.

Unless you are using a SIM card that operates on 900MHz (O2, Vodafone, giffgaff, Tesco Mobile) then you wouldn't see this issue.
You can follow the example here to see if your handset is affected, by using a secondary phone that is forced into 2G mode and runs on a 900MHz network

I've dropped my XDA IIs on the sidewalk - and ... well it does not look very good now - the display is broken - the rest seems fine. I'm trying to buy a new display but there are more models on the market - and there seems to be with the generation of my device.
How do i find out what generation my device is ?

under the battery is also a sticker
it tells you the model and manufacure as well as imei etc etc . the board type IEH20B and such is on that sticker.
or if the device is still usable other then the screen ie will connect and activesync. there's a program called my mobiler or just use the wm power tool activesync display that lets you see and control it frol you pc. and you can look at the details that way to determine the model.
hope this helps.
It's PH20B - so how do i find my board id ?
On the other thread the guys said it should be 0X5 or 0x6. Is there any table where i can pull this out from ?

which thread were you looknig at, as the part number is listed on the sticker as P/N at the bottom of it. which should be unique to that handset
or would be printed on the PCB itself, also LCd's have a sticker usually as well on the back of them that have part nuber as they are never manufactured by the phone manufacture

[Q] How to know if your Defy's earpiece will fail?

I'm thinking about getting a Defy, how can i be sure that its earpiece won't fail? i read somewhere about something writing under the battery from which we can know if the Defy have a defective earpiece or not
Under the Battery where you got the device's SN, you should see a BF or BT or a blue dot, then you're on the safer devices that presumably have been fixed.
Honestly mate, its more about luck, mine doesnt have any of those 3 and its working great so far,i did order a k850i earpiece just in case this one fails true, but so far its great.
^^
Respect
It seems that any Defy manufactured after January 2011 is fine. Also, unofficial info is that series that begins with BTxx and BFxx or that have a blue dot near the serial number are ok.

How can we know the production date?
+1
plus 1..........
Well, just for the record, i bought my Defy in late January with serial number BT and the earpiece didn't fail completely. Instead, for the past few months i've been using it, the sound cracks and breaks pass 1/3 in-call volume and in very rare cases i can't hear anything at all until i pressed the top of the screen.
So yeah, phones with serial number starting with BT doesn't means its fixed. Either that or i was really unlucky.
Just sent my phone in for warranty this afternoon btw, should be getting it back tomorrow
Told the service center technician that i already flashed to 2.2 and he said he can close one eye and just change the earpiece for me without touching the software and voiding the warranty

motorola support on their own support forums say BTxx and BFxx or that have a blue dot near the serial number are ok
i was just looking into my Defy but i cant see anything with BT , BF (no blue dots either) just battery which is BF5x lol. Made in 2011..
Look UNDER the battery.
And in general: with electronic devices you can never be a 100% sure that a certain piece will never fail.

[Q] Need expert advice on Arc S Lt18i Phone Originality

Hi Guys,
I recently bought Xperia Arc S on ebay. I was actually out smarted by the listing where the warranty claimed as if it is under sony warranty but somewhere in the listing the seller cleverly mentioned it is under dealer warranty and only covers software problem. Having overlooked to see it I paid for the phone and got it delivered.
I am not very keen on the warranty but I want to know if I have bought the original model and not fake chinese copy. Is there a way to find if it is fake or cheap copy phone..
The phone has Gingerbread, The box claims its from Lund, Sweden. It came with the seal not tampered. The back of the phone where serial number is written has something like SAR & chinese symbols where we usually see the MADE IN CHINA MADE IN FINLAND Written. this phone does not have anything of that sort written but I am not able decipher what those chinese letters say.
This is my first android so not able to differentiate if this is original or fake. When I cannot the phone to PC, the Sony pc companion poped up and installed the PC suite.
also the phone has Chinese Keyboard has default, which I do not understand because if it is to be sold in Sweden then default should be Swedish. also got the HAMI and those Chinese Apps installed in the phone..
Please experts advice on how I could find if its original or copy phone... Will post pics if required.
Thanks in advance.
I may not be an expert, but sometimes the Xperia Arc does default to a chinese? (i think its more of japanese) keyboard. Best way to make sure is to contact Sony support and ask them about the serial number on the back of your phone. Pics of it would also explain better.
Heats up
Correct !! Since I do not know if that is chinese or Japanese I am also puzzled. The phone also heats up near the camera part very quickly even with no 3G or internet activity.
If I would contact sony support, Would they help even for non warranty phones. I mean phones not bought through their dealers.
first of all go to settings--about phone--.check your model number and all the other infos
you can connect your phone to pc and open the flashtools it will show your xperia model number and all that stuff((corrrect me if i am wrong))

They will help you to identify if phone is genuine or not and tell you if warranty exists.
They won't offer to repair phone or exchange.
Sent from my LT15i using xda premium
take a pic of the stuffs below the battery..let us see
Pics
it shows the model number as LT18i, Android Version as 2.3.4.
I read somewhere that Arc S should have swype keyboard in messaging, I searched everywhere and could not find it. I could see Full Qwerty & 12keypad option only.
I am unable to post the link to the pics I have taken as I have post less than 10
Edit: Sony PC companion got installed and detected the phone as Sony Ericsson XPeria arc S(LT18), it requested me to update the phone to ICS 4.0 .. I chose not to because If I find this as copy phone then the seller might not accept returns.
Lost peace of mind & I wish I had read the listing properly and also wish Ebay makes some policy changes so that sellers don't easily trick by hiding important information in small letters inside the listing description.
Edit 2: Also the sync process with FB downloads all pics to my phone gallery but when I try to open these pics, the quality of the pic is so bad. it looks as if it is taken from VGA camera. also all the FB updates in Timescape have poor quality. Is this all normal ?
its ok dude.maybe that dealer got the phone from customs and selling it without bill..chill..

Thanks Arpith, so you mean to say that the phone should be genuine since it accepts PC companion automatically and tries to update to ICS.
I am also convinced but its just that I find it hard to digest as I have seen this chinese apps and messaging on the phone. I am always scared of chinese market.. Man they clown anything in this world but not sure if they can also clone Xperia just like that...
What about the FB pics in Gallery & Timescape not loading properly. How can I rectify those arpith ?
u cant really say that its fake just by looking into photos which was imported on your phone..
do one thing...take down the imei number and go to http://unlockbootloader.sonymobile.com and follow instructions..give all the details and it should give u the bootloader unlock code...if it gives then the imei number is valid..
u can also download Quadrant Standard and Check the phone performance and Speed

did u pay via cash/check /bank transfer/ or paypall if your fast with bank transfer u can put a hold on it if you paid cash or check its harder but if u paid with paypal take the matter up with them instead of ebay if ur within the time limit they have buyer protection aswell as seller protection and if they can they will over rule ebay in offering u a refund i had this problem buying off there and reguardless of which always was refunded
Paid through Paisapay similar to paypal. Yes I can take up the matter immediately and request for refund provided I have concrete info that this is a copy make.
So far, the test & results are positive.
1) Phones automatically installed PC companion and asks for ICS 4 update.
2) Quadrant standard test results are Ok
3) No Lag found so far
4) Able to download and install from Google Play
5) Screen Looks nice
6) Got with box seal intact
Concerns Though
1) Phone heats up very rapidly
2) Phone back has some chineese or symbols which creates doubts in my mind
3) battery not so good
4) Camera not convincing
5) Timescape doesn't load pictures properly
6) Gallery takes lot of time to refresh
7) FB pictures in gallery are blurry & low quality
Now situation is cat on the wall
Normal arcs will heat up in the top section when charging or if the processor is in use. Not a big issue.
The points from 5 onwards are not a cause for concern. Timescape background images are low res anyway.

yea u need to enter only 14 digits out of 16 digits..it was clearly mentions in the instructions which numbers to omit..anyways looking at the system info it looks like you got the original arc s..chinese may give same carbon copy of the phone but they will never give same hardware..but ur phone has the hardware of the original arc s...

I have no idea where you got that info from. The key is generated using an algorithm. Which means you can type in any random 14 digit number and a key would come up.

little problem.. or is it?

So I thought my question, posted elsewhere in regards to another issue, is one that can be extracted for general inquiry. If it need be collapsed, the original question was posed here: click
So I have a rooted H810i ATT G4, however this issue is not carrier specific:
I have soft-bricked* the phone to a state my computer is not able to recognize its ID and assign a driver for its use. Windows throws the code 43 error of "device descriptor request failed" and automatically gives me the "device failed to be recognized" message.
The issue is most likely to be related to the phone's hardware versus my pc or cable. I have of course used different PCs, versions of windows, usb cables including the oem cable, enabled/disabled usb debugging, all with the same result. The PCs all recognize something plugged in and charge, making noises with plugged in, but the phone does not offer connection options.
I use the term soft-bricked as I am able to boot into download mode & my rooted firmware version and can of course use the phone, I am simply attempting to unroot.
Let me try to help u. Look at ur lg box serial no. If it begins with 505xxxxxxxxx to maybe 509xxxxxxxx , then you are likely facing with a motherboard issue. Its a known defect. Send back to lg for them to fix it if its still under warranty. first 5 in 505 basically means year 2015 the next 05 means manufactured month which is May. Those phones manufactured before OCT have defects from what i have read in xda. So if ur serial number is 509 or less gd luck
You can use this link https://imeidata.net/warranty/lg to find out the manufacture date as well

serial begins 3579.... I assume serial and IMEI are the same thing?
also, if it is the hardware on the phone, it is due to my own doings, as the phone was completely fine (showing up in windows 10 with no issues) until I attempted to unroot and failed mid-way.
Thank you for your help however.
All I have is a IMEI number which has nothing to do with the manufactured date on the box. It also shows a manufactured date of May 2015, this is a Verizon Wireless Black Leather vs986, only concern is if sent back, I'll get a replacement that will have 11a software on it, have 10b now which means less chance of a bootloader unlock should it be available.

Hardware Revision Differences

Hey Guys,
just noticed that there exists two hardware revisions of the Nexus 5x (1.0 & 1.1). Just curious, what are the differences between them and when do they change according to production date?
You can examine the revision number by booting in fastboot mode (power + volume down button to start).
Thanks
Interesting might be fix bootloop issue.

I've read about hardware revision before for this device, I read that some people on the 1.0 had a yellowish screen or a warmer screen and in comparison to the 1.1, apparently they fixed that issue with the revision. I'm not really sure about this, it's just something I read and I don't that has much to do with the dreadful bootloop of death.

What I noticed so far, that printed inside my Nexuses box stands 1.1, but in fastboot mode it says hardware revision 1.0. So obviously these two numbers doesn't necessarily correlate to each other.
Btw. mine was produced in October 2015.
Yeah same here, on the box it says 1.1 but I've never checked in the fastboot because I don't want to mess around xD. P.s I read a different reddit thread than the one you mentioned but that doesn't matter.
