[5 Dec 2011] (Android 4.0.1) ICS Tytung's 3.0 based branch rom Beta 3.1 - HD2 Android NAND Development

This is a branch rom of Tytung's NexusHD2-IceCreamSandwich NAND Beta 3.0 build with Ankuch updates and added features, all credits go to them, support them and buy them a beer!
- Rom is VERY fast, even faster than most gingerbread roms here
Features:
- IceCreamSandwich Beta3 (Credit Tytung)
- Dorimanx kernel (Credit Dorimanx)
- Dorimanx tweaks (Credit Dorimanx)
- HW acceleration EGL v.5.1 (Credit Ankuch)
- Video playback (Credit Ankuch)
- DATA TO SD-EXT (Credit AMARULLZ)
- H icon (data)
Not Working:
* Headphone (Due to Dorimanx kernel but no annoying sd popup)
* USB Mass Storage (Does work with dual mount SD app)
* Camera
* WiFi Signal Strengh Icon
* Native Screenshots
* Native WiFi Tethering
* Native USB Tethering
* ICS data usage feature (Due to Dorimanx kernel)
Visit Tytungs thread here for my source BETA 3.0 :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1354267
For Mag
I got best results with 200mb partition, 10mb cache, if this is not working for you then try other sizes as everyone here seems to have different succesful results
For CLK
Use same partition size as Mag but flash Dorimanx kernel addon and choose clk version when installing trough cwm recovery

I only created this thread because Tytungs thread became messy and my post with the rom will get lost after many replies.
For some reason boot animation doesnt work, i will look in to this today or tomorrow, doesnt have priority now.
This will be the only release from me as tytung said he is working on a new kernel with loads of improvements so keep an eye on his thread for future updates! ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1354267 )
for Mag and CLK
Gallery works perfectly.
Market works perfectly.

Good job. you already posted this on tytung rom and this is a repack of tytung rom and the ankuch HWA hack. Update from tytung will probably include ankuch hack, No need for a new thread in my opinion, but that is your call. Good job for the repack though.

True, but my repack was flooded, people wouldnt find the link between all the posts and i did not want to flood Tytungs thread.
People can talk about the repack here and leave tytungs thread for bug reports etc for his original rom.
Tytung is working hard on his new kernel and other fixes and as everyone know he doesnt release a unstable rom so everyone can enjoy this till he releases his new rom
Just keeping the threads clean

No problem. I appreciate your contribution to make our HD2 better. However, as soon as the HW2 hack by ankuch is included by tytung, as a show of respect to tytung, please consider taking this one down. Unless you have another good fix you want to share with us.
BTW, I agreed with your reasoning.

it's clean and tidy here, great to see the ROM

No sorry, the libs need work, im trying to dig into developing android roms but im not that advanced yet
But it wont be far away as ics development is making alot of progress from many sides !

Multiupload link is up in first post !

Anyone got WIFI working ??
UPD: NEvermind, i suck.

I just flashed this version to test, and it looks very smooth. Very good for taking the best from the other ROMs and repacking them together. I'm liking ICS.
Looks like wired headphone also doesnt work, as well as no camera (just like tytung, which should be expected). I'm going to try the new kernal by Zivan56 on this to see if wired headphones work.
Has anyone compared HW accelataion vs. Non-HW acceleration in the tytung ICS ROM? Some other threads complained that HW accel wasnt working so well.

WOW Its simply greaaaaaaaaaatttttt
Wifi works. Hardware Acc works. Its incredibly fast.
Default launcher is not as smooth as LauncherPro. But system in general is smooth.
Games like Trial Extreme 2 are laggy.

Hey, can you give me the GPU files please? I want to see if this works on the Desire ROM.

[29 Aug][KERNEL]-{---------JW_tytung_S2.1----------------}

Kernel based on tytungs r11 (all credits to him) see changelog for improvements
Differences:
-Removed reiser fs and btrfs filesystems useless for most users.
-No default USB tether.
-No need for custom vold(usb notifcations)
-Fixes
For the rest all the same features.
I will continue to add changes. But to add more changes I need user feedback first of the latest kernel. Plan is to update the kernel every 1-7 days. And keep or remove commits based on user feedback.
Attachment is for Magldr flash in cwm.
For clk extract package and use fastboot commands.
Gitorious source
Updated by my friend joplayer. The kernel building etc is done by me.
Credits
Alle kernel devs
Tytung, Markinus, Cotulla, hastarin.etc
Donations:
I would like to sugest to donate to markinus he did a lot of work on hd2 kernel. And he is a bit forgotten somehow. For the rest of course you can also donate to the famous guy cotulla and the smart guy tytung.
Changelog:
Code:
[B]2.1[/B]
-Updated usb driver full notifications etc.
-No custom vold needed anymore.
-Completely disabled RNDIS driver use app from market
(Because missing stuff and issues)
-msm_fb: Fix framebuffer console [Arve Hjønnevåg]
-updated to latest mmc evo driver
-For some reason it wants to scan your sd card on boot for errors need to check why.
Added experimental:
-Kernel without extra I think unused network stuff. Needs testing
[B]2.0[/B]
[B][U]Various usb fixes maybe no need for custom vold in etc but I didnt test if the custom file is still needed, hopefully this fixes data drop.[/U][/B]
.....
-Fixed conditionals on MSM_RMT_STORAGE_SERVER -snq
-Clean ups
[B]1.4[/B]
-Disabled one useless debug feature
-Camera clean up >credit snq faster opening

[B]1.0[/B]
-Removed reiser fs and btrfs filesystems useless for most users.
-Smartass as default.
-Small config tweaks
Old releases:
See the attachments below
It is really important that you give feedback.
Please not the to general hd2 kernel bugs. This kernel is created with the intension to improve speed and stability. Not to fix the biggest hd2 kernel bugs the reason for this is simply lack of skill.
Woke..we was waiting for this..thx JW..I will try it now ..place release your miui 1.8.19 with it

I am using tytung 11 final Does this kernel change anything to his wifi calling? I need wifi calling.
what happen to Tytung's own kernel releases? halted and handed over to you?
suggestions for opening post

No he didnt handed them over to me. I keeped tytungs name for the kernel just as respect for him since my work is very minimal. Thanks for the suggestions I will use them in the next release my plan is just to spend more time to improve the kernel by using general android kernel and cm fixes.
And about wifi calling the module and kernel support is included apart from reiser fs and btrfs you should have everything what tytungs kernel has.
ok
oh yeah, hastarin's name should be there since Markinus branch was modded by Hastarin, then Tytung modded Hastarins final 8.6 kernel ( back in the SD build days)
no idea where Hastarin is nowadays though..
great...but I dfound out that tytungs kernel 11 has some serious mobile network connection issues....almost everytime the device turns the screen off and enters sleep state, connection is lost, after waking up, I need to enter PIN to start radio again...maybe you could fix that too
(I am on clk)
nice work m8!
I would love to have a variant of the tytung's kernel for the GB Sense builds with working BT Headset.
Also the OC limit could be pushed further than 1190mhz.
tested on Hyperdroid CM7 Honeybadger (2.3.4) and originally from Tytung r10
WIFI works
3G works , for now until I get to test that complaint regarding timeout during screenoff
Default Smartass will test battery drain and performance across next 24 hours
screen delay was fixed on mine, its so fast that if u keep pressing it , the screen blinks only for a bit
thanks mate

-Keep in mind that battery might need to settle (maybe need to clean battery stats) that is always a bit different when using different kernel sometimes you need to sometimes it is not needed.

dunno why your mod feels slower and more ram comsuming. tested on dunghop pyramid clk v2.1.

Finally we have a dedicated updating kernel every week or so... oh god i miss the old times when we had Hastarin and marichima etc.. kernels updated everyday =)))))
Edit: also check the battery issue while listening to music on standby mode, cuz i get 60-100mAh with tytung's kernel 11b2 on MIUI latest.

Hi
is there a chance to boot this kernel on a SD Build?
I tried it but it stops on "Jump to Kernel"
Thanks
please don't stop!!! big thanks!!!
The greatest news, thank you!
Running fine on Typhoon CM7!
The only problem I get is 17mA without wi-fi..and even in Airplane mode.
Could not get it to boot on the new DHD 3.06 v1.3 from DUNG. Replaced the initrd.gz file, resigned but stuck at go go go. Will keep fiddling.
What a great day, hopefully this will prepare us for the ice cream sandwich in the near future, downloading now
Well, I know it clearly states CM but gave it a shot anyways. I deleted the initrd and installed it on daekins rom and no luck, stuck at gogogo. I'm guessing something in the initrd from his rom needs updating, better luck next time I guess.
Keep up the great work.

Please post all relevant issues here. I will try to fix, but keep in mind this is a hobby for me, not a job
isn't this exactly the same as cm10 alpha of maclaw? i mean thewhisp is porting maclaws work to galaxy mini and you now do cm10 !?

No way this is a duplicate of Maclaw. Neither is the Whisp's. He isn't porting Maclaw. My sources are based on the Whisp (I lost my own sources) and are not in any way related to Maclaws. This is build entirely from CM-sources.
Also using a different kernel.
You cannot compare this to Maclaws work

[DEPRECATED][KERNEL][I9000B] Semaphore JB 2.9.0B (2.7.0B) (I9000-B only)

-- DEPECATED -- DEPECATED -- DEPECATED -- DEPECATED -- DEPECATED --
Please follow this link to the new thread for the Semaphore Kernel for the I9000B, now maintained by rubervalrfl. This thread and builds herein are now deprecated and kept here for historical purposes only. Thanks for your support!
-- DEPECATED -- DEPECATED -- DEPECATED -- DEPECATED -- DEPECATED --
----
This is stratosk's Semaphore JB kernel compiled for the GT-I9000B (Latin america variant of the I9000). Stratosk doesn't support this variant, and being an owner of this device, I thought I'd share my efforts on compiling his excellent kernel for the I9000B variant.
With that said, here comes the disclaimer: By flashing this kernel, you accept that it comes without any support, neither mine and even less so from stratosk, since he doesn't support this variant on his own releases. So please don't bother him with support questions regarding this specific build. IOW: you'll use this kernel at your own risk.
There were reports of data loss during testing on early builds of the 2.8.x (kernel for Android 4.2) series - there were no more bad reports on later versions, but this needs to be said: Always do a nandroid backup before installing or updating any of the kernels posted here. I won't be held responsible if you lose data while using these kernels!
I *may* be able to help depending on whatever problems you might have, but don't expect timely answers, or any answers at all if I'm not technically able to figure out your problem - I'm a beginner on kernel development, all I did with this really was just some slight tunings and then recompile it for the I9000B. Also, I'm doing this on my free time, which is not much these days, so for now I'm just going to focus on following stratosk builds and recompile them for the I9000B as they come. I can say though, as far as problems, I don't have any with it on my device - it works fine and fast for me, at least the builds prior to 2.8.x, i.e.: kernels for Android 4.1 - I don't use Android 4.2 (yet) and hence I haven't / don't test the 2.8.+ builds myself - I rely on rubervalrfl's report for this; if the kernel boots without problems or data loss for him, then I deem it stable enough for release. Hence the glaring warning above about backups.
Now, on to the goodness:
This kernel is exactly the same as stratosk builds (hence, the exact same features and changelogs, including compiler versions and configuration), but with the following modifications:
Swap enabled;
ZRAM enabled as module (To configure it (on CM10), go into Settings / Performance / Memory Management);
KSM support enabled (Disabled on system by default, to enable it (on CM10), go into Settings / Performance / Memory Management)
Note about build version 2.7.0
Stratosk is no longer maintaining the 2.6.x builds that are meant for Android 4.1. But I was using Android 4.1 before I sold my SGS (yeah, I'll soon be retiring from compiling this kernel, read recent posts on this thread for more information), and looking at some of the latest 2.9.0 features I felt like having some of its features on the 2.6.x builds, and so I did it. Those features are really just some cherry-picks from Stratosk's 2.9.0 branch on his repository, so all credits to him, as always. Since there are quite some important changes I thought it would be better to bump the version number to 2.7.0 - I suppose it shouldn't be a problem to anyone, since the original 2.6.x builds are no longer maintained anyway, and it still sets it apart from the newer 2.8/2.9 builds. The 2.7.0 build contains the following cherry-picks from 2.9.0:
Reduce number of frame buffers for more RAM (on my ex-SGS I'm now at 383Mb, up from 377Mb);
Updated Interactive governor;
ROW I/O Scheduler
Known issues
The kernels posted here are compiled exclusively with BLN support, whereas stratosk's put out a 2.6.5 version with CM LED support. I haven't built versions with CM LED support because they simply didn't work on my own testing - the LEDs wouldn't light up at all with it, which effectively broke LED notification for the I9000B. Because of that my builds are compiled exclusively with BLN, which at least lights up the LEDs for notifications.
Blinking LEDs with BLN doesn't work (?) - they just keep alight: I'm still not sure why, although I suspect it may be something specific to my own phone because it doesn't work on DerTeufel's Hellybean kernel either. Feedback is welcome on this (let me know if it does in fact work for you). I've read in a few places that that's how it's actually supposed to work (blinking only actually works with the BLN Control App, "Pro" version), but I'm still not sure, so PLEASE DO GIVE A LITTLE FEEDBACK, PEOPLE!
What works
Everything else, as far as I could see.
Usage
Just flash it on CWM like any other kernel. Normal version and 's' version are provided just like on stratosk's release. Use the Semaphore Manager app on Google Play, from stratosk, to setup the kernel features.
All instructions and documentation from stratosk's original Semaphore kernel applies to this one, so look into his own thread for more information.

Thanks
To stratosk, of course, for his awesome work on his kernel, and for letting me post this here for I9000-B users;
Everyone who is/was involved on the development of the Semaphore kernel - basically, anyone on stratosk's "thanks" list
rubervalrfl, for testing the 2.8.0 version. If you want a 4.2 ROM for the I9000B to go with the 2.8.+ kernels, check out his CM10.1 Preview for the I9000B over here.
I'm sooooooo happy
Work on 4.2?
I don't think so.
I think just devil works on it

I haven't tested, so feel free to. If stratosk's release works on it, then this most likely will too. I'm not a "bleeding-edge" kind of guy, though - I've upgraded to CM10 only a couple weeks ago (from CM7), and I see many other kernels don't yet work with 4.2, and if the other kernel devs around here are anything like me, they're probably not going to bother getting their kernels working on 4.2 until CM10.1 gets out of alpha status, since most kernels around here are derived or use parts of the CM kernel, and CM is the most popular Android anyway.
Thanks for this, cronot.
I'm happy that I9000B users can have Semaphore kernel.
Although, I can't official support I9000B, due to lack of free time, I'll do my best for any help.

Thanks for your support, Stratos
I still hope your help isn't needed specifically with my build, though. You've already got your hands full with your own releases Apart from the Known Issues list on the OP, I have no problems at all with your kernel, it's working really nice! The only problem I would report for 2.6.0 is something that's mentioned here in your thread (hence, not something specific to my build), about some stuttering during video recording - I do have some of those too (although when the record is played back, there's no stutter, so I figure the problem is only in preview), but I'm not sure if this problem started on 2.6.0 or if I had it before and didn't notice - I'd have to rollback to 2.5.0 and take a look, but then I'd have to rebuild that version also since I've deleted the previous version, and I can't spare the time to do it right now; I'll post back on your thread once I can confirm this.
Thanks! , i will install it to give feedback
My congratulations, sent a mp for you.
Nice to see new kernels around here! thanks!! .
This kernel is awesome! The best I've tested in my i9000b !!!
Any chance of a version designed for Android 4.2 ?
wanna know if us is gonna get semaphone for 4.2
@Gurx & @Dimabr10:
Check the OP.
Thanks! We're here to help! Take a look at my website for a fresh version updated for I9000B.
@cronot thanks!!!
I'll test this kernel with some 4.2 version.. Maybe the one from @rubervalrfl !! But I only can do that at night, I'm at my work now....
Thanks!
i'll be glad in receive feedback for my port ROM for i9000B on site.
There is a updated from 12/03/12 cyano's repo version there.
OMG thanks alot
Thanks for your hard work in owr i9000b I would be glad if you can take a look why the mic on the wired headset doesnt work only in owr i9000b :/. Thanks soo much
