file manager for mac - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

Hello guys I need small help, what is the best file manager application for mac? o wanna transfer music videos and pics between GN and iMac

You don't need a file manager per se...
This is the app you use to connect your GN to an OSX machine to transfer files. Google created this for the specific reason of interfacing with android devices that use MTP and not UMS.
http://www.android.com/filetransfer/
You can also transfer over WiFi with an FTP setup. But this is easier.

Lol he doesn't need all that. If he just wants to move pics/music/vid/files back and forth, simple download from Google. Done.
And another thing on that post, I don't see how having to connect your phone via USB to sync with 'Mail', 'Address Book', iCal, iPhoto and iTunes is more seamless than simply letting everything backup wirelessly and automatically with Google services. You're making it harder on yourself by relying on your computers built-in apps. You don't buy an Android phone so that you can go back to the 2007 iPhone strategy and start plugging your phone into the computer every night to sync. That post is basically showing you how to step back from all the great things Android does.

Thanks guys I will give it a try

APP to transfer photos from SG2 to IPad3????

I have a SG2 and for my Birthday my son gave me a 64GB IPad3. I would never personally purchase an @pple product but it was a gift and it does make it easy to Facetime with him. I would like to transfer the all of my videos and pictures from my phone to the Ipad is there an app that will allow me do do this in bulk or allow me to sync it when i choose?
I have looked but there is so much info out there if anyone can help that would be great.

As far as I know the only way to get photos on your idevice is through iTunes.. you probably won't be able to directly send photos to your ipad from your S2

There is method I use.
I have the same devices you have the sgs2 and the ipad. I have dropbox installed on both devices and I have "Camera Upload" turned on. So whenever I take a picture with my s2 or ipad, the picture automatically uploads into dropbox. and from there, I have pictures on both devices to which I can download. Once you load the dropbox app on the ipad to watch the pictures, you can then select to download the pictures into the ipad itself. it is quite convenient. This is good only if you have enough storage in dropbox to save all those pictures and videos.
Also, you can do this with G+ (google plus) app as they have the instant upload feature also but I believe they give you more storage space.
Edit: A quick google shows that the only app that you can use to transfer files between ios and android is "Bump" app.
i will check into that I have heard that some of the apps will downgrade the pics so the 8mp pics will get reduced in size do you have that issue with drop box?

Yeah either dropbox, or just connect your phone to a computer and transfer/copy all your pics to itunes and just sync your ipad

Try SharePod. Its free online and grabs everything from your device. No need for that stupid itunes. Try it, i havent tried it on ipads though..

What a pain in the ^#^%$ a$$. I do really hate apple. So here is what I did i Dumped all the Photos and Videos off of my phone to my PC. about 22 GB's worth of data. Then I had to install iTunes on my PC. Then once I had it configured I pointed it to the folder I wanted to sync it to. It took about 3 hours to complete. Then I get a message that the the video files would not copy since the format if my videos is not compatible (the format used my SG2) so I had to download Any video converter to rip the videos to a apple friendly format since the [email protected] is so limited. They have some amazing marketing I cannot for the life of me understand the popularity of such a limiting product. Thank you all for your suggestions, I did look at bump but it will only allow you to a few pics at a time and will not allow for full resolution photos to be transmitted it will scale them down.

That sounds like a frustrating ordeal! I'm sure that since you did the bulk of it this time it'll go smoother the next!
I've haven't tried to transfer movies on an idevice recently.. But I used to all the time and it was a pain expecially if you had a movie on your ipod/ipad and you lose the original copy on your computer but itunes won't allow you to pull the copy off of your idevice.. That's just obsurd! The limitations sent me running fast from apple!... But they sure do look pretty!

Well I have a new update my PC was converting the files last time I was at the office, transfered the files to the folder it syncs with and it still is saying it is in a non supported format. I used AVC and it said it would convert it to a format for the New Ipad. screw it i am done I will use it for face time with family, playing games and watching movies out side of that I think it is piece of %$# ! All I have ever heard from Apple fans is that they are so easy to use and they are great they can drink there cool aid.
I think he ipad is pretty nice! Great screen. The app store is terrific! And once you have your media on it, it's really easy to use and navigate.. But the limitations are a downer!

Bike Race magic with titanium backup!!

So not sure why i didn't think of this earlier, but seeing as we are all probably using an android phone aside from out nexus 7 I thought i'd bring this to light! TURNS OUT... if you have a good account going with bike race, ya know... some good bikes won according to your efforts. But with android there is no way to carry it forth. SOOO you:
1. take your phone with good account, do a titanium backup of the bike race app.
2. Connect phone to computer, search for titanium backup folder on phone drive, copy all "bike race" apps to desktop (i had 3 total)
3. Connect nexus to desktop, and copy files to nexus in same foler
4. Reboot nexus, restore bike race with titanium backup (but only data) ANNNDD VOILA!
enjoy
Mod Edit....removed un-needed content
Been doing this forever with all my games to retain app data across multiple devices. Don't know if a post was needed, as most have been doing this for a very long time. Far from a new thing. Not trying to be mean. Just sayin

Yeah, this works fine, but it's a bit cumbersome.
What would be nice is some sort of automated system using google drive / dropbox / whatever. I play World of goo (or any other game) on my phone, and the next time I open it on my tablet, it's already at the latest save point from my phone.

There are several apps that do this. One that I use is DataSync. There is a free and a paid version.
You basically setup a Box.net or DropBox account in the app. It then allows you to push backups of specific apps to your online storage. The cool thing is that it can automatically detect other DataSync apps on the network and automatically sync up and push settings to other devices.
Sync times can be varied by daily or on app change. There are also sync options such as only on WiFi or while Charging.
You can also manually push/pull updates.
Pretty cool.

I'll let you in on my golden rule, if i can't find it in google searching or forum searching, then i post it because either it doesn't exist or its too hard to find. And I felt it pertinent seeing as most gaming apps these days have some form of online sync that backs up your progress and reverts it when you sync the app with an account, bike race being the hit it is has such a feature for the iphone, but not for android.
This thread was not craving your approval, it was purely informational . Over 500 people viewed it in less than a day, and none of them felt the need to be a the fun little raincloud of a first reply.
please go vent your pesimism on a political opinion forum.
For everyone else i was able to help, enjoy!

[Q] Why can't I play music transferred via FTP?

Hey! I just noticed that all the audio stuff I transfer via the FTP client (using WellFTP server on GNex) won't play on the device. Google Music app and PowerAmp just don't see it while Root Explorer is listing it perfectly... Does it have something to do with MTP?..
UPD. And yeah, strangely enough when afterwards I connect the phone via the USB cable I don't see the files copied with FTP client.

Mmm. Nope, but if the media rescan is only triggered with the reboot, then I'll better stick to cable then Or is there a terminal command I can input and trigger that manually?

[Q] RDP Without Client Companion App?

What I'm looking for is an app that RDP into Windows based computers. I know there are a bevy of apps such as, Splashtop that can do this. However you have to install some companion software on the host machine ahead of time for it to work. Is there an app that can just RDP, minus the extra software install?

You're best off using a tunnel between SSH and VNC to connect.
I've been using that for interaction from my phone/tablet to my server.

I use Pocket Cloud daily, the companion app isn't required. You just have to create the connection manually within the app instead of using their auto-find-my-computer-in-the-cloud method.
I use this almost everyday. It has a nice touch screen control and multiple keyboard screens. Lots of keyboard shortcuts.

I use the full version of remote rdp, very light weight and smooth...I've tried most of the rdp apps and I find that a lot of them have too much going on with the GUI and or pointer that end up taking up precious screen real estate (I only use this on my N7 btw). Also I've found Bluetooth keyboards, USB kb/m and a USB credit card reader all work through remote rep. But just try out all the free versions of the above recommended.

syncing links between devices

hi guys, im sure a lot, if not all of you have been in this situation.
your sent a youtube link on whatsapp or via text, and instead of watching it on your phone, you want to watch it on your tablet. But wait, the link's on your phone!!
is there an easy way to send the link to my nexus, like via an app? i know chrome can share open tabs, but still seems a bit too long winded.
at the moment, im copying the link and emailing it to myself which i open on my nexus :l
I'd you use Chrome sync it will do it automatically
