[Q] Market reports updates available via Notifications - but where are they? - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

As the subject says. I get notifications to say there's updates for 2 of my apps. But then in the My Apps list in the market, none of the apps have any indicator to to say they can be updated. I've opened each app's info screen and none appear to have updates (or if they do, there's nothing to signify it).
Anyone else?

I get that as well, usually after a few hours the button appears for you to update, but also I get certain apps that want to update but its the same update from last time, weird.

I was getting that and discovered 2 apps in the "not installed" section of the 'my apps' page in the market that when clicked on had a option to 'update' instead of install and one of them was google maps. Haven't had that happen since so go check that page.

[Q] All my apps are gone in market

Recently, if i view all my apps i downloaded in market (where is shows if i need an update or not) it acts like i have nothing installed. Instead of all the apps i have installed instead of saying "installed" it just says "free" and to download it, even though i already have them. Does anyone know how to fix this bug?

Mystery of the phantom app updates.

For a week or so now, my GNex has been popping up "available app updates" notifications at least once a day. This wouldn't be too unusual, but when I click the notification to go to MyApps in the market, I never seem to see all the updates.
If the notification says there are 5 available updates, then I click through to MyApps and find 3 updates available.
If the notification says there are 3 available updates, then I find 1
And if the notification says there are 2, I don't see any at all.
Seems like there are two apps on my phone that are either causing update notifications to appear when there is no actual update to install, or they have updates available, but I can't see them in the market for some reason. In either case, I have no idea how to figure out which apps are causing the problem.
There can often be problems with having multiple Gmail accounts. You get a notification for the update from an account other than your primary Gmail (but then you click into the Market and its your main Gmail acct). Not sure how to fix it, but it is mildly annoying.
If not, you can try wiping data out of the Market and re-entering your credentials.
Well if it helps I was also noticing that as well but like you said I went to market and nothing was showing .so for some reason I scrolled through my aps and clicked on google + and when it pulled up it had the update option so I updated and don't remember seeing any after so if by chance you have google+ on your phone check it just a thought cause that is where mine was coming from so far
Usually, you just need to wait for some times
Usually it happens to google apps (maps, google+, etc) so check them and also check your "Not Installed" list cuz sometimes those installed apps that need to be updated show up in that list instead of "Updates" list.
Not sure if its fixable with clearing data for market.
I also had this problem recently with Google+ and had it previously on my Xperia X10 with the facebook app. Possibly a problem with pre-installed apps which are then updated in the market.
Just do a manual install/update of the suspect app and the notifications will go away.
For me it was easy to spot the rogue apps as there was only one at a time causing the problem, so the update notification specifically said there was an update to Google+.

I had the same problem last week.
Google + showed an update notification, which wasn't displayed in the Google Market. I noticed that Google + was in the "not installed" list, so I opened it there and manually updated it by clicking on the "update" button on the Google + market page.
Any chance you have auto updates on?
i get this same problem too. vvery often i get notifications saying "4 updates" and really there are only 2 updates. it just happens sometimes for no reason i can see. and no there aren't any manual updates during this time. it's truly some weird bug, or something is getting counted twice either my 2 gmail accounts etc.

Yep, this was the answer. Google Music and Google+ were the culprits, and since they were pre-installed, they weren't in my installed apps list. I had actually checked every single app in my installed list individually, trying to find which ones had the updates. I didn't think to go through the uninstalled list.
I've had this happen from time to time. I fixed it by clearing market data, and then the market showed me the app that needed updating.
I've been getting it too and I think it's been caused by me having apps installed from a different market than what I am usually authorized to install from. ie I'm overseas and I have Google Music etc.

Pre-Installed apps not showing in Google Play after reset?

I decided that after years with the same gmail account, it had become too cluttered and too many people had my email and I just wanted a fresh start.
So, I created a fresh, new gmail account and I did a factory data reset on my phone.
But now, all the pre-installed apps won't show up in the Google Play store so I can not update them. If I type in the name of an app that is pre-installed, it shows "Update" but when I go to "my apps" there are no apps there, so I can't update them all. I also have "auto update" on, but nothing is updating.
What could cause this and is there a way I can fix it? Even though I don't use all of the pre-installed apps, I still want everything up to date.

can you install apps from the pc on the new gmail? if not, what happens when you try that from the old one?
Same Issue
I have this exact issue. Purchased a used phone. It was delivered in mint condition and had been factory reset. So I set it up as it was new. However, the pre-installed apps do not show up in "My Apps". So, I cannot "Update all" and auto update does not include those apps.
If I run a search for any pre-installed app it gives the option to update. Once updated, the app shows in "My Apps" like normal. All new downloaded apps show up in "My Apps" as normal.
It's like the pre-installed apps are synced to a different account... Please help
They will show up. It takes a few minutes or so. I just got the HTC one, traded my s4 for it (best decision ever!) and it took a while

I forgot I made this thread... Oops haha. Mine eventually just showed up, like mrbracht said, however it took a couple hours for me.

[Q] New nexus 7, no "installed apps" in play store

My dad just got a nexus 7, his first android device, yesterday. I was over there helping him set up, and noticed a couple weird things...
First of all, the wifi bars seem to go back and forth between blue bars and gray bars. Odd, as my galaxy nexus always shows the blue wifi bars, so I believe the wifi connection is fine.
The other issue is, when I go to the play store and go to "my apps", there was nothing listed. It's been a while since I've seen a new Google account in the play store, but shouldn't the pre-installed apps be showing up there? (gmail, youtube, google search, etc.)
When I searched for the gmail and youtube apps, they showed that they had an update, but shouldn't they be automatically updating?

Only "User Installed Apps" will show in My Apps. System/stock apps wont.
Also if you want to Auto-Update apps, Open Play Store, go to Settings and check the Auto_Update option.
Hope this helps!

From Play Store, you can also go to "My apps" > "All" and you'll see all apps installed on your older devices :good:
That's what I did to have all apps installed in my old Galaxy Tab (dead at this time).
Hope this can help.

I believe the auto update setting is enabled, but I'll have to make sure on that.
If the first part is true, how do the pre-installed apps get updated? Would his tablet be sitting on the same version of the Gmail app for a year and a half, until I go out and manually update it for him? And then it would be able to auto-update itself after that point? If so, that doesn't seem very user friendly.
Like I said, it's been a while since I started with Android as a new user, so maybe some of my confusion is just due to the fact that my google profile has updated all of these apps in the past?

That's just it... This is his first Android device, so he has no history yet
If you're still on 4.3 and your WiFi bars are changing from blue to gray then it means that you have a bad connection. Basically the phone pings Google servers and if it gets a response then it'll be blue. If it doesn't then it'll be gray.
In 4.4 Kitkat, it'll always be white now.

They DO show up there. You're just looking at the wrong list. There are two tabs at the top of "My Apps" page (Installed and All). "Installed" just shows you the ones you (manually) installed yourself. Click the "All" tab to see the pre-installed system apps.
That list shows everything, including apps that have been deleted.

Hmm. Something isn't right. Try installing a new app (then uninstall it if you don't want it), and see if anything shows up then.

I did manually update some of the apps when I was over there (gmail, youtube, maps, etc.), and after that, they showed up in both lists.
Maybe I'm just crazy and forget what a new account looks like on the "My Apps" / "All Apps" page, before you install anything from a new account?
There was a problem with a recent Google Play Services update. I can't remember how I fixed it but I think I disabled Google Play services and uninstalled updates.
The problem that I am having is that when I sign on to the Play store from my computer, my Nexus 7 doesn't show up in My Devices. So when I want to load an app from my browser on my computer, my Nexus 7 doesn't show up as a device I can send the app too. However, it does show up in the Android Device Manager and it locates my location successfully. What setting am I missing to make my device show up?
What's everyone on about? Most (all?) of the stock apps on my Nexus 7 (stock 4.3) show up under Play Store > My Apps > Installed.

I think someone's device is somehow not syncing with their google account
@talz13 and @Paten In your system settings, check Accounts/Google and see what it says for when you last synced.
I checked the settings for the Google account and it synced about an hour ago. When I look at all my apps on the device, everything shows up as it should, it's just when I look at the play store on the web my Nexus 7 doesn't show up as a device I can load apps too.
Originally, the device didn't show up in the Android Device Manager on Google either but I went into the Google Settings on the device and turned on the correct settings to locate the device and reset it remotely. Then it showed up correctly when going to the Android Device Manager web page on my computer.

I'll check that next time I get over to my parents house.
In the meantime, I checked on my dad's play store account, and it shows apps under the "My orders" page, which is good. However, his nexus 7 doesn't show up under the devices page. And if I browse to install an app from the web, it says "/!\ You don't have any devices"
Anything that I should check on this? Could it be related to the flaky blue / gray wifi bars indicating sync trouble with Google?

Question Apps not auto-updating in play store?

Hi, pixel 6 pro here and I am having issues with my apps auto-updating.
1. I went to settings>auto updates at anytime is selected.
2.google play store>app info>battery>unrestricted
3. I have forced stopped>clear data>disabled> reboot>enabled
Nothing is working and I have to click manage apps>update all.
Double-check one of the particular apps that don't auto-update. On the app's page in the Play Store in the upper right corner click the 3-dot menu button. Is "Enable auto update" checked?
I just checked one of my apps at random and it wasn't checked. The app in question, at one time I didn't want it to auto-update because they were making changes I didn't like, and the setting was saved by Google across many phones and I just didn't notice. I may have other apps that I don't have set to auto-update, but I don't think there's a way to explicitly display them all (and not display ones you already have set to auto-update). I just looked at my "Pending downloads" in the Play Store and the first app listed was also set to not auto-update, so I'll just have to remember to go through each app for a while when there are apps listed here. It's definitely showing ones not updated yet that are set to auto-update as well - they just hadn't yet.
Edit: Found 3-4 more apps that were set to not auto-update including one that I don't even particularly remember using, but I might've tried a very long time ago and I definitely only recently reinstalled it. Shame you have to individually go into each one to find out how I have it set.
Went to store now, auto update still not working. I checked three dots for the app and enable auto update was already updated but not updating itself
Does everyone else's auto update apps for the play store work?
Just to be clear, I don't think that apps ever auto-update just as soon as it's available. For an example like you gave, does it go for over 24 hours without auto-updating any apps?
What about the two Play Store settings "App download preference" and " Auto-update apps" below it?

Cool. I assume they don't update immediately in case the developer pulls the update due to bugs. I have no idea what the particular logic is of when it how often is. Hopefully whatever apps are listed available for auto-update tomorrow at the same time aren't necessarily the same apps listed for you now.
You're welcome, looking forward to hearing. You're welcome and your too!
Does not tend to poll these app updates once you're actually plugged in charging and usually on Wi-Fi, but you can set for other networks?
Apps have been Auto updating past 48hrs, as mentioned above takes about 24hrs
Hi, so over the last 48hrs apps have NOT been updating automatically. Can anyone help me with setting to auto update apps in play store?
My apps are automatically update and I don't want to. I only have the settings because I had absolutely no notifications that there are updates available. I had to check manually and it was a nightmare.

I dont think mine ever have to be honest and when i am sorting out phones for elderly relatives they always have about 2 million apps that need updating.
