[Request] Dedicated Forum for LG Nitro HD/Optimus LTE - LG Nitro HD

Mods, this is a request for a dedicated forum for LG Nitro HD (AT&T)/Optimus LTE (Bell).
Post your request for dedicated forum here Vote for Nitro HD
Please see attachment for the ADB USB driver. The RAR file attached is the LG Support Tool software. Once installed, go under Customer Support menu -> Application, Manual, USB Driver Download -> Use the Model selector and pick LGP930 and look on your ATT Nitro HD box for S/N or back of your phone. You will have the choice to download the USB driver (LGUnitedMobileDriver_S4981MAN36AP22_ML_WHQL_Ver_3.6) or the user manual. The files will be saved under C:/LGP930 by default. The actual driver is too big for attachment here.
I just picked up the phone from AT&T for $150 not $250 as originally advertised. I never had a LG phone before, and I understand the poor track record it has. But this is actually a very good phone. Just for background info, I have used Captivate, HTC Inspire 4G, Galaxy S2. Here is a brief review so far.
Built quality: It's all plastic with a textured back. There is no creaks anywhere. Just solid all around. It's not as sexy as the skyrocket though.
Display: It's as good as what others have described. I compared it to the Iphone 4s and Skyrocket at the store. It's almost identical as the 4s but blows the Skyrocket out of the water. I am a fan of AMOLED, but the resolution and brightness on the Nitro HD is just on a different level. Browsing Slashgear.com full website, I can read the words on the Nitro HD without any zooming in.
Speed: It's very smooth but not as smooth as the Galaxy S2/Skyrocket if you have to be nitpick about it.
GPS: It's raining in Austin, it locked to 9 GPS in 3 secs. Google navigation is spot on and extremely accurate.
DAC/Audio: I'm an audiophile. The sound from a nice set of headphones plugged into the Nitro HD sounds really good, on par with the Galaxy S1 with Voodoo sound. I believe, this phone has the Wolfson DAC as the Optimus 2x. Not sure because I can't find a source.
Data speed: There is no LTE market here in Austin, I'm trying back to San Antonio (which has LTE) tonight. Will update on the the LTE speed.
Let me know if you have any questions about this phone. I think it's a really good phone and has great potential for XDA devs to be involved. Thanks.

Second for this. Hopefully we can get this phone rooted asap. The screen on this phone is awesome better than the vivid i had before this.

Your second request should be for the negative LG Nitro HD thread not to be moved into the new forum.
LTE speeds are fast. End of story. I got, on average, 22-23 Mbps.

Well this phone continues to impress. I am locking 12 satellites on the first floor livingroom in a 2 story house. I am not even close to the windows. On a rainy day.

Root
Agreed with all the above points, screenz amazing better than the iphone4 and galaxy s2.
Am coming from Galaxy s2, i found that the touch is not as responsive- am sure a custom rom will address this issue...
I know you devs rock, hopefully we can get the nitro hd rooted and an ICS rom soon.

yes please make a forum for the new Nitro I got it today first customer on the store, and was really impressed with the display quality, while the performance on the original SGS2 that AT&T has, this display blows out the SGS2 one out of the water, now the battery worries me a little and performance at times as well, i will test it out for a week and see if i will keep it or return it and get the galaxy Nexus. we need a root and a room to get this phone faster.

I have a skyrocket, my 30 day return window ends in 3 days.
Honest opinion Lg nitro hd or Skyrocket?
As a side note the Dev side of things dosen't really matter all to much to me.

Wow. You have 30-day return periods over there? Nice...
My honest opinion is "neither". I would not trust anything LG-made. Ever. The Skyrocket is good, but, if it ends up costing you roughly the same as the Gal. Nex., go with the Nexus.

Id go with the LG Nitro. My brother has the skyrocket and compared them both the screen on the Nitro is by far way better clearer crisper. I like the phone i miss my vivid due to sense but thats the only thing i miss. Now to just get root

Just a quick question, I can't seem to find the answer to - does the Nitro HD have an LED Notification lamp?
Thanks!

Well I had it so far today, definitely will test it this week, I have until the 14th to well cancel my account, if thats the case i might Order a Galaxy Nexus, thats if this one does not deliver, and get a sim from Simple Mobile.

I don't understand all of the crap this phone is getting, I love it, and would like a separate forum.

Yeah not a single negative thing thus far. Gonna see how the battery life goes tomorrow with first full day of use. I was getting 12mbs down and 10mbs up on the LTE after I got back to San Antonio tonight. I still can't figure out why San Antonio has LTE over Austin.

I agree I love this phone. Its thin lightweight and killer screen.

I easily rooted my optimus LTE with Easy Rooting Toolkit:

hopefully we'll get more people to get this phone to have the community going and then maybe we can get cyanogenmod too

No. I love that so much on the epic.
I'm so happy to see interest building on this phone. I had until tomorrow to change my mind about keeping the skyrocket or swapping to this. So far so good. Really solid phone. Fingers crossed for a timely ICS drop and some great roms .

had mine for about 2 weeks and it is a love hate. love the screen, hate the battery. love the possibility (development/ics), hate the current reality.
my wife got skyrocket and comparing the two, nitro screen wins hands down! clear crisp and realistic colors. sgs2sr is much smoother software wise and battery is what you qould expect, full day with lite use. nitro get 8 hours lite use.
after a few days i was ready to switch to skyrocket... but i am going to hang with it. the negatives are not great enough to give up this screen. plus skyrocket does not feel as good in the hand.
that probably doesnt help much... if you can go look at both.

No one knows yet as it is still waiting for the CWM to be built, if you feel you can wait for the custom ROMs, CWM etc then get one if you wish, or if you need something right away then the SGSII is the other road to travel. There are several posts about your question, for example:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1390399
I needed a new phone after my Atrix 4G bluetooth/wifi chip broke down. The real choices were really iPhone 4S, Skyrocket, HTC Vivid and LG Nitro. One look at iPhone screen and it was out. It almost seems like a kid toy. I had Skyrocket for a week and I returned for few reasons. I read a lot and the screen was washed out in comparison to the original S2 that my wife has. I have a little kid and I take a lot of pics. Skyrocket camera always produced pics that were a little out of focus. The third strike was that Skyrocket audio produced a lot of hissing through the headphones. Fourth, I was not so convinced that xda scene would embrace Skyrocket like they did with the European ver of S2. This phone was released in the US 6 months too late. Vivid was out just simply it felt like holding a soap box. Now Nitro HD. Screen for reading is simply amazing. After rooting, hard reset, GO Launcher I can get to the performance and look I need. I like how the phone is feels in my hand. The battery is a problem and I would not chose this phone if I was still travelling too much but with a combination of a spare battery and a car charger I focus more on enjoying the phone without busting a sweat. The baterry life still seems better than EVO 4G. If you need to stick with this phone for the next two years I would wait for something like 4.5 inch 720p quad core Tegra 3, 2 gb RAM, LTE, 2.2f dual flash 12mp marvel that will come out closer to the mid year. If you need a phone for 6-9 months this phone will hold you over just fine. Just dont expect a lot of mods. If this phone will get a support it will be closer to the level of Atrix.

Lastly Skyrocket doesn't have Gorilla Glass. Nitro HD does.

Cool. I've read horrible reviews about the battery. How has it been for you? The different between the 2 screens doesn't bother me.
Sent from my GT-P7510 using xda premium
I have been getting about 12 hours with moderate use now. The battery has improved over the course of first 2 weeks of owner ship with repeated charges. I am talking about LTE, GPS, BT on all the time. When I say moderate probably 30 min calls, 20 sms, 1 hour of screen time browsing and stuff.
This is honestly the best phone I have used. Screen is a beauty. Everything just works. I used GPS on a recent west coast trip which involved at least 5 hours of GPS use. It was dead on. I can lock in the middle of a grocery store. Unfortunately the battery life isn't great. I rate it as mediocre. When I expect to be out for a long time, I switch to my Inspire 4G.
Also there is a stigma associated with LG brand.
The dev support is to be determined. Good thing is that this is a flagship model and there are different international versions available to broaden the hopes of more international dev support.
If you were to pick between the current AT&T LTE lineup, I would definitely recommend Nitro HD. I think if you wait another month or so, the Samsung Galaxy Note or the Sony's rumored 720p phone may get released. Again just speculations.
I agree this is probably the fastest GPS lock that I have ever seen.
Sent from my LG-P930 using xda premium
I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this device to anyone looking for a flagship smartphone. Maybe not ideal for the road warrior running around searching for an LTE signal with the screen on playing an HD game but that is more about the battery than the phone.
And unfortunately, any leading-edge phone like this is going to have battery issues simply because battery tech has not kept up with the blistering pace these devices are moving forward. Now if these devices ran on petrol, WOW!
it's going to be a few years before batteries catch up to these devices. So it will be much much worse with the new quad-core smartphones that are poised on the horizon.
With a very heavy use, screen on 100%, browsing, LTE about 4.5 hours.

Wish this phone luck, its a great one. Use your one month trade in for that! It is way better then that skyrocket.

We don't know when it's coming, could be March, could be April, maybe even later.
Edit: Just to add...Yeah, the Note is a beast of a device, but it's going to be released around the same time the new quad core device(s) are released. So that's something to think about as well.

Yes to clairify... I would highly recommend this device, especially over skyrocket. Put the two screens side by side and you will be 100% sold! After watching 720p movies/anime I am so in love with this screen. LTE is incredible too. Yesterday I was getting 14Mbps up AND down! I have hit 20s and 30s consistently.
A little laggy, yes. Battery hog, hell yes. My hope is both of those are addressed by ICS and/or the XDA Dev community !
And yes, the battery life does sucks! Worst I have ever seen since I ran Android from my SD card on my HD2. Charger at desk and charger in car is required - or one of those portable chargers... something cuz you will not make it thru the day.
Actually as oppose to original gs2, skyrocket is unable to play mkv smoothly. There is a lot of threads about that in the divx forum.
Nitro HD on the other hand handles them very well through the stock player.

What's your input in the Nitro HD? Thank you guys!

Hey guys! I wonder If you can give me your input on how you like your Nitro HD. I am having problems with my Galaxy Note. On 3rd Note. Steering away from Samsung. Mainly bad data connection. Taking a long time to connect to internet Facebook etc. I was wondering if you can let me know how the call quality is , ear piece volume , signal strength etc and data connection. Does it connect fast on 4g. Not lte right now here. Also problems. I want an HD screen. The One x is having way too many problems. Thanks for all the help.

I was looking at the htc 1 x. But they just have too many problems right now. I'm on my second galaxy note, and having data connection issues though. I want a phone that works. I'm in no rush for ice cream sandwich. Overall though, how to the phone perform pretty good? and is the screen nice? I don't have l t e in my area anyway. Always on wifi at work from home anyway. Do you have any data connection issues. While on 4 g..? Thanks for any help at all the input I appreciate it
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I717 using xda premium
I havent had any connection issues with my phone at all. I am on bell canada, so I have pretty good coverage where i live.
The main thing that sucks about the phone is the battery life. It can idle for a long time, but when you are actually using the phone the screen really does some damage.
I bought a 3800maH battery, the phone is a bit chunky now, but hopefully I can go back to the stock battery once official ICS comes out, or CM9 gets better (not that i'm complaining about CM9, I LOVE CM9)
What problems? The one x is the best right now. My buddy got one and that thing flies. Battery life is amazing too thanks to the krait processor.
Every phone has problems. The iPhone has the least problems, so if you want just a flat out easy, problem-free experience (mostly) get the iPhone. The Note is one of the best Android phones out, period. If that phone doesn't do it for you, and the H1X doesn't do it for you, the Nitro won't and neither will any other Android.

Just got my 3rd Nitro from AT&T and its locked down completely, can't root it. The only work around is to use the unbricking method and it was a no go on my desktop. So now I'm stuck with a sluggish locked down boring phone. Thinking of selling it and getting something that's truly "open" and doesn't have AT&T's hooks in it.
Nice.....the xda apps white background is showing off a botched area of my screen on my so called "new" phone. Looks like I'll be exchanging this one too.

Well said! I'd dare add the Nitro was a good year ahead of its time. Root it, throw on CM9, make he odd build.prop tweak, and you'll make the cell phone shop geeks drool with envy.
Great phone, great hardware, battery life is improving.
As with seemingly all of LG's high-end devices the software released with the phone wasn't very good but patches and new releases have improved it substantially. I've been running the ICS leak for almost 10 days and it's fantastic.
The LG Optimus 2X (my last phone) had the same issues but they were corrected by LG.

No its not, it lasts just about 4-5 hours being on, exactly like our nitro
Hi - I have had my P930 international version since Dec (canadian) and it hasn't been mod'd
I only recently had connectivity issues with my phone which turned out to be a software issue that required a factory reset. Other than that though - no connectivity issues.
-it connects super fast and downloads fast: on 3g, 4g and lte: on lte I get 75 mbps here in Canada, in the states I get 100! fb loads fast and uploading photos and videos is almost instant
call quality is great
bluetooth is clear and loud, but honestly i use the speaker most of the time
signal strength is great, it has NEVER dropped a call, I always have more bars than everyone else in the room
the screen is bloody huge and lovely hd movies and hd games look fantastic and never lag
cons: i drove a huge powerful 4 x 4 bronco once, and was shocked I could watch the fuel gauge needle drop right before my eyes - why hello phone bronco- its just too powerful for its battery. even with my screen brightness turned down i can watch the battery drain. use maps? HOLY COW! even plugged in the charger doesn't keep up!!! i need to get around to rooting etc lol to improve this
fb, instagram, and browser are all huge battery vampires on this phone

The Spectrum and the Nitro HD are both variants of the Optimus LTE. They have the same screen.
Rezound has a great screen. I might have purchased that phone if I was on Verizon. (Although, I'd be embarrassed to have Beats Audio printed on the device.)
The Galaxy Nexus and Galaxy Note have AMOLED PenTile screens. PenTile is OK for displaying pictures and awful at displaying text. AMOLED produces over-saturated colors. Why anyone likes Samsung's displays is beyond me.

i was thinking they might be the same phone but i was also thinking the spectrum had a different size screen,
yeah, i would never buy a phone that has beats as the audio processor, even with some beats phones, way over-rated.
samsung display looks pretty damn slick at first but after a while just looks cartoony with the over done colors. especially sad that samsung is actually detuning super amoled to make it work on the sIII, derp, right when lg will be releasing 1080p smartphone screens.

Basically the exact same phone as far as performance goes. It's up to you whether you want an IPS LCD screen, or an AMOLED.
Also to consider is whether or not you want LTE coverage as an option.
I personally would save my money and wait for the next generation of phones. I don't really think the GNex offers any significant improvements over the Nitro, except for AOSP JellyBean straight from Google.
I originally bought a GNex from the Google Play store and ended up returning it for a Nitro.
I could not deal with the display on the GNex. The whites were yellowish, and the colors were super saturated. The ghosting was also an issue. As soon as I turned on my Nitro I knew I made the right call. The screen is the best, IMO.
Nitro and GNex are competing products. Similar specs, similar performance, and nowadays the Nitro is even similarly getting CyanogenMod love.
In my opinion, it's a side-grade (not up, not down) to trade over to the GNex...Not worth the hassle of having to reload and reconfigure everything.
Keep the Nitro. With the Quad-cores hitting the streets now, by the time the Nitro hits its' 1st year anniversary, there'll be more solid choices for what to actually "up"-grade to.
I picked the Nitro because of the screen and the SD card expansion.
Ironically, I sold my Nitro a little over a week ago for $215 to upgrade to a Galaxy Nexus. I could no longer stand GB. LG then trolled me and released ICS less than two weeks later. Not sure it's worth the $135 upgrade, but honestly the Galaxy Nexus is the (slightly) better phone, and I love JB. But you can't do wrong with either phone.
About the only thing the Galaxy Nexus has that I really want is NFC.
Galaxy Nexus has the same performance as the Nitro HD but i prefer IPS over AMOLED, i think u should stay with the nitro HD.
thanks guys for all your input !
staying with the nitro and this community !
cheers !
I had this dilemma few months ago too. Ended up with the Galaxy Nexus, mostly because the top notch software support. I don't really like the AMOLED screen and hate the fact there is no SD card. Lack of LTE was another concern for me. Again, ended up with the GN only because of the software.
Last week I decided to see if I did wrong back then and got myself a P930 which I found at a good price. Software wise I can say I took the right decision picking the Nexus. But hardware wise, now I'd say I did not. Nitro's screen simply crushes Samsung's AMOLED pentile unit. LG's screen colors are right, screen is much crisper than Samsung's.
But now when Motor sees Cyanogen love, I'm hoping software advantage of Galaxy Nexus will be minimal. After flashing JB preview, P930 became a much better phone. Not as smooth as Jelly Beened Nexus, but I'm sure it will get there soon. Well, battery life on the nexus is at least twice as good, but there is no LTE, everything comes at price.
If you already have the Nitro, my advice is to not waste money on Nexus. At least not current one.

I would have to second the Nitro... What you give up on my GSM you get on the Nitro... I am awaiting my replacement...Been using my Nexus and the amoled is not as crisp or clear the speed is just not LTE worth...Yet I do like how you can esaily customize the Nexus I just put on CM10 and did Uber theme on it... Looks sweet...
Yet in having to decide I also think Nitro is the one up for a daily use phone.
Just a NOOB thought ...

NFC is still in its earlier stages and was proved to have several vulnerabilities. I would avoid NFC at this point of time.
keep the nitro but i'd pick up a used nexus if the price was decent, just to mess around with the softwares. must be pretty sweet to get a pure jelly bean running and all the little mods here and there, heh, for a flashaholic, i wouldn't get any work done if i had that nexus.

To be fair, you'd probably get the exact opposite advice from the Galaxy Nexus community. To get unbiased advice I'd ask your question in Android General or somewhere like that.

every now & then i think about selling mine and getting a one x or the other one but i figure i'll wait 6 months for nex gen devices with 1280p screen and such. some cool stuff right around the corner.

[Q] Buying a Nitro now? Good or Bad?

Hi comrades! I was wondering if I should sell my HTC Vivid (Development has stopped for good) and pick up a used nitro off ebay, or should I invest in a Atrix HD, Note, or One X?. I see you guys have some talented devs at work and the Nitro's hardware is pretty kickbutt. So I'm pretty tempted too! Thanks in advance btw!
I've had my nitro for about two months now. Its a decent phone (I came from Galaxy Vibrant) but the responsiveness of the screen is definitely not responsive enough for me. I'm on the official ICS also.
If you're into flashing a bunch of different roms then this phone might not be for you. There are only a handful of devs making/porting roms here. Not that they aren't doing great, I just like to have a ROM buffet . I ordered a Gnex which should arrive tomorrow due to its dev support.
If you can get past lack of support (compared to the vibrant anyways, I'm not bashing the devs here at all) and slightly less responsive touch screen then this phone is decent.
Soo my only gripes about the phone:
Not as much development compared to phones like gnex or vibrant
Touch isn't as responsive compared to my old vibrant
Battery life ain't the best (I'm on extended so that helps a lot)
Pros:
IPS display is great.
Speaker is loud.
Camera is nice
Small community so you recognize most people here
Hardware is nice
I hope that helped!

Don't get any phone with a pentile display unless it is the Galaxy 3. My Optimus LTE screen is just as responsive as the Galaxy 2/ Infuse. They probably use the same tech.
At the going rate for unlocked Nitrous, it.is the best buy right now if you don't need quad core. There is plenty of promising dev support, and rooting is easy.

Nitro is a decent phone. Im still deciding whether or not to go back to the amaze as a backup or keep the nitro.
The touch response is pretty slow, but maybe its more sensative to being covered up with a screen protector.
Its a pretty smooth phone seems to task pretty well. The camera... well i hatevto say it but its awful.
A real let down considering lg 's firsy true flagship had such a killer camera on it.
Could be just the software i dunno.
Battery although most people say it sucks seems normal which .... sucks.
The screen is awesome, really nice i think on par with the one x. And yeah if your going to go with sammy get the gs3 all the other screens including the note are just garbage, that is unless you prefer over saturated unatural colors.
Im actually waiting for the note2.
Rumor its going to have a better screen than gs3.
This is a nice every day or backup phone.
Is it a beast? Hardly.
But i will say this the lg skin is pretty close to aosp.
Dont pay more than 250- 300.
I got mine for 225.

Compared to any non-HD screen phone, the battery life will suck especially if you have a lot of screen on time. Standby time in CM9 or CM10 is excellent though.
After owning, developing for, and having hardware issues with my Nitro before, I can't recommend this phone unless your getting it on the cheap. The hardware issue I had was the microphone stopped working and people couldn't hear me. (It wasn't a ROM issue).
With that said, I have heard bad things from Galaxy Nexus owners as well, such as it overheats. I haven't had my Nitro overheat before but it certainly gets hot if your playing a game on it for an hour. LG needs to work on their quality though, I think many of us believed that the Nitro being a flagship phone at the time would be of higher quality but I really don't believe the manufacturing quality is up to that of Samsung or HTC.
I admit I am nitpicking considering I use this phone every day and it works well for everything I need.
I got two for a penny each....pretty Damn happy with my purchase

As others have said, unless you can get this phone for $50 or less on contract, don't bother. The development community is tiny, there is a huge lack of quality, stable ROMs, battery life is mediocre if you like to use the screen a lot, and the touchscreen isn't that responsive.
I'm getting rid of this phone and upgrading when my contract permits. I was really on the fence about upgrading to the Galaxy Nexus, but decided to keep the Nitro for the time being since it does have a really nice screen.
Honestly. I would get something else. Screen is great. But that's about it. I would get the note because development is great. The one x is growing fast. But the Atrix HD is just getting started.
Depends on if you like an arsenal of roms to flash.
Just got the gnex..
It's amazing. Performance is great, ROM support is great and I love the customizable ness of it. I could change the onscreen buttons and all that.
The only things I miss from nitro HD is the screen and SD card but I can live without those. Nitro HD screen beats the gnex screen hands down but its not enough for me to stay with it.

cool, glad that's settled, now we need to get a mod to delete this thread because I've been planning to sell my nitro for$250+ when the note 2 comes out shortly.

Good luck with that, I've had my Nitro posted up for less than that and nobody was interested even after a month.

same here ive had it on CL(Craiglist) For a week at $225-235 no interest what so ever. But i Dont wanna go under $200
i was joking, i have no intentions of getting rid of my nitro any time soon, it does everything i need a phone to do just fine.
Well im glad your faith in the device is strong!!!!!!!
Didn't wanna get rid of it till i had my One X. But i dumped that phone today for a quick $200

Quick decision: S3 vs Optimus G

Im about to get a sprint phone and i need to decide (before this friday) if i want an Optimus G or a Galaxy S3 (or an iphone 5).
Im currently on Tmobile and i just cannot wait to get rid of my HTC Sensation!
I love the specs on Optimus G: however its still on ICS and the android development on it seems dead so far :/ :\ where as on the Galaxy S3 the specs and battery life arent as good but it has a solid developer team!
What would you guys say?
ps: iphone 5 is an option just because i love to switch and try new things. it also has all the google apps i would want/need
It's really all about preference, ask yourself what is it that you want in a phone.
I choose the Optimus G over the Galaxy S3 because the hardware was amazing and I had high hopes for the community since this is a the older brother of the Nexus 4. I could not see myself buying a dual core phone when quad core phones are just beginning to come out. I was afraid the GS3 would get outdated in a couple of months if I bought it around that time frame (last month for me).
Development will be getting a lot better soon. From what I've seen and read, we are close to having CM and other ROM's for this phone. Optimus G is the way to go.
LGOG ftw. There's a reason Google picked this phone to base its Nexus 4 off of.
Get to a sprint store and try them both. I went to play around with the note 2 and before I left I asked about the LG. After I tried it out I headed over to best buy and picked one up for 49.99 (99-50 phone freedom gift card). I still think it was the best move for me. I really wanted the note 2 for the size. I'm glad I didn't since I'm still trying to adjust to the larger size of the lg (came from a nexus s).
Coming from a Note II without a doubt Optimus G over S III. Optimus G is one of the best performing and best looking phones out.
Development will pick up... Christmas break soon will help. One thing i've noticed about the OG over my ancient samsung is that the radios seem really good. GPS locks on in a couple seconds and coverage is fantastic. Samsung has traditionally had problems with their radios.

I must say, I don't really use gps alot, maybe during the golfing season, but I used it for sh*ts and giggles on
my way to my wifes work, and the Nav was dead nuts. I mean to the middle of the intersection. I am really
impressed with it. My Evo lte was never this accurate.
Go with the S3 if you can get it for .99. Honestly I would wait for the LGOG to go down the $99 (entirely possible this Xmas since it was $99 for black friday) to get all its bugs fixed, or at least until Jelly Bean comes out.
It must be the apps I'm running or the games I'm playing but the phone just gets hot all the time after game play and it starts to lag a bit...it also has issues with wakelocks that causes the battery to drain at a slightly faster pace. Hopefully they fix that bug soon. Those are my only complaints. Other than that the phone is super fast, great battery when not gaming and the screen is amazingly clear. I love the sleek square-ish design and it's ability to run anything I've thrown at it.
After owning the s3, iphone 5, and this all I can say is the hardware is in another league the materials used in the iphone are better and the camera on the others are better but this screen is great the phone is fast and our feels like more of a premium device than the s3. I am completely happy with my decision to buy this phone but your decision will be personal preference minus the 1080p screen I feel like this is what we will be the class of devices released next year. Oh and try to test the s3 in bright conditions because in my experience it was a little to dim

This. Screen is dim on the s3 in direct light. I never notice until I got the DNA. Next week I'll be getting the lgog for my gf. Feels snappier and more quality in the hand than the s3 for real. I don't know about the iPhone. I'm a dedicated fanboy
sent from my unlocked and rooted droid DNA
I noticed it because I had an evo lte prior to the and I could everything without issue outside. When I got the s3 it became more of an issue I couldn't play certain games or watch videos because the screen just wasn't bright enough. I with this phone I have no issue even without using auto brightness and the display set to 50%

Agreed,
only two complaints for me. Both having to do with heat issues. I've been doing some heavy gaming. Mostly FPS , gta, Max Payne......very graphic heavy games with eco mode on and off. Screen brightness 50% or more. Yeah it gets hot fast. Nothing to concerning though.
Second. When the phone is too hot it automatically reduces and forces a lower brightness level. Usually around 60% I've noticed. However its still plenty bright.
Other than that the phone is an absolute beast. Also with the quad core it will be better suited for up and coming apps / games.

What drove you away from the note 2? I'm trying to decide between the two phones.
