Notification LED - Acer Iconia Tab A100

Just got the a100, is there a way to disable the power button LED when it comes to notifications? As soon as i get email it comes on.

Try turning off notifications in the Settings screen. That also stops the Home button from flashing.

Unfortunately that also stops tray notifications as well.

I would find it useful if it flashed when the screen is off. . . but that isn't the case. If the screen is off, it doesn't flash, and if the screen is on, it is annoying when it flashes. It is very annoying to me.

Screen Lock

hi,
does anyone know how i can set it so the screen auto locks after a given amount of time or is there a freeware app that can do this please. because i rather have it that having to remember to press the power button to lock everytime, sometimes i might forget.
cheerz,
snoop
Lock the Screen? Power-Button simply switches the Device of, e.g. the screen. In Power Management you can set a Device timeout in Battery Mode and on AC Operation. This is equal to pushing the Power Button
I think i see the problem, or i'll tell my problem with that issue...
When you push the power-button the screen turns off and is locked, but if you receive a sms or so, the screen returns back on and is not locked...
ok ye i think u get my point.
i dont know about screen lock after receiveing sms or call.
but i c the point of samson, pressing the power botton does lock the screen.

look for deviceock or vj devicelock.
There is a today-application called BatteryStatus. With its help you can lock the device automatically when it is shut down. Does the job for me - of course you allways have to unlock the device after turning it on.

If you had bothered typing 'BatteryStatus' into Google you'd have seen it was the first hit. Establishing it is the right program is simply a case of reading the web page. Why are people so goddam lazy these days?
yes ok i get your point. sorry.
right i have installed. lots of nice options and things. but have little problem now. As we knw the device has the function where as the backlight will turn off after a set amount of time. Mines set to 30sec for battery power and 1min for external power.
After 30secs (using battery) it does its job and turns off the backlight. Normally i would press the power button and device turns back on. HOWEVER! since installing batterystatus the device just wont turn back on. I mean its got enough battery, i can tell this because 1) the light at the top flashes 2) Heres the strange thing , the only way i seem to be able to waking the device from backlight is by pluging in the usb cable.
So i thought i would try and un-install the app see if that would help..but nope that didnt help because it still does the same thing.
After installing the app i did a soft rest. I thought it might help, but it didnt. This is the other thing, once i did this, i see the t-mobile splash screen where shows the ROM and other info. And then i just goes blank for a while....and then i see the T-mobile PIN entry keypad splashing by every few secs. I was only able to by pass this after trying and trying to enter pin number on a black screen.
Do you think i should do a hard-rest? Dont really want to do this. Means i have to re-install my little apps and contacts, email settings etc etc.
Can anyone help me with this problem please??
Hi there, i had quite te same problem, after a soft reset the backlight turns on until the bootup screen dissapears, then the screen seems to be blank, but it shows everything, but without the backlight on. You have to point a light onto the screen and you can hardly see wats on it.
Then go to the backlight settings and turn it up.
Then you have to look at every program, thats adjusting the backlight settings and turn of automatic darken screen or so in the program.
That helped for me.

And :S stranger thing was that the problem didnt happen this time, i saw the t-mob splash screen, saw the windows mobile green splash screen and then my keylock and then pin number screens.
hmmmm no idea wots that was all about. but hey its all working K.O so im happy now. just got to fiddle with the settings now

Manually turn off screen?

Hi, I would like to know if there's a way to manually turn off the screen? I've changed the display time-out settings so that it doesn't automatically turn off the screen while I'm still using it, but it would be nice if there was a way to manually turn off the screen. Right now I'm resorting to locking it, but that means extra work

You can se the screen to auto lock at desired time(10/20 seconds, etc.) from the last time you touched a button, with a digital or analog clock display as a screen saver using smarttoolkit. Instead of manually, it will be automatic, but it will turn off your screen. Let me tell you this is a great feature if you have kids, like myself , if I put the phone down, I don't have to worry if my kids get a hold of it 'cause the screen will be locked.

Nothing happens when I press the end call button. Is there some hidden setting I need to activate for it to work? I'm on WM6.1 by the way.

check if phone is in standby without switching it on by accident

ok, has anyone else noticed this problem,
sometimes i switch my phone off to save battery and it will switch itself on in my pocket so i need to check every now and then to see if it is really off, however, the only way to switch the screen on is with the power button so if my phone was really off then i have to let it start up and switch it off all over again.
i'm going to have a look for a way to remap the buttons without root as i cant get unrevoked to work and i cant be bothered to go about it the long way
hmm im not sure if this is the same issue, but sometimes the keys on my desire are on with the screen being turned off, im not sure if it happens on its own or what, not a big deal really

What ROM are you using? I use DeFrost 2.3 and you can bring the phone out of standby by pushing the trackball button. A second push unlocks the phone.
I dont understand this. If the phone is on, a single short press of the power button will light the screen. If it's off, it needs a long press to turn it back on - therefore it's pretty easy to tell the difference

Mine is unmodified and i'm not planning on changing that until HTC stops issuing updates. Sounds like a good feature though, bit of an oversight on the phone that.

Careful, it may burn the LED out if you keep it constantly on.
rofl. this burn stuff is constantly floating aroung and is still crap.
why do you think, they enable the led while charging? because it is likely to burn?
who ever brought that up .......

I agree, I think the only LED to be worried about having on for long periods of time is the SUPER BRIGHT Camera Flash LED. It's obviously a different LED than the charging/notification ones, and snudel makes sense when he says that it's enabled while charging.
snudel, do you have a link for this blue LED app? I don't even think I've ever seen the blue LED on my Desire glow, but it would be neat to have it lit when the phone is "awake".
Cheers!
you can download a blue led app here:

but don't know if this is the one that snudel uses (i think not)

While your screen is off. There is a process running in the background. It could be anything.
It's when you get alike, a call or text, and your screen comes on, and stays on, even if you have screen-on time set to go off after x amount of minutes
oh yea i def have this sometimes.

I thought it was the issue where the phone doesn't like to wake from a lock state. I know when i was running CM7.0 rc1 and the screen would lock and turn off, when I hit the power key, the screen wouldn't come back on. I usually had to press the power button then tap the screen to get it to turn on. Sometimes i had to just fight with the power button a few times to get anything to show. It was quite annoying. Might have been a kernal issue, not really sure as I updated to CM7.1 and a new kernal all at once.

screen won't light up

I'm having an issue where the phone powers on but the screen doesn't. Occasionally i can get the screen to light up for a blink up not long enough to do anything. Anyone know of a solution to this issue?

Is it stock? If so, it sounds like a hardware problem. Is the screen off the entire time it boots as well? What do you do to get it to light up?

I just hit the power button and sometimes it comes on for a sec.
doesn't matter now as it won't even power up. Customer services is a bit of a nightmare to deal with.
