TRIPLE Protection....!!! - Galaxy Note GT-N7000 Accessories

I like my phone to be protected really well.....Have a look
1. Official Samsung Flip Case
2. Cheap S-Curve TPU case from eBay --> I bought this extra CHEAP case so I can experiment and cut it to fit the Flip Case. It's not the best cutting job, but it will do the job for now
3. Home made Phone Sock
I guess I will use this set up until the flip case dies, by then I will start using the Nillkin TPU Case.
ps. I really like the Nillkin ones...they are thin and fits the GNote really well

Great job. I'm still waiting for my TPU case to arrive so I can try this. Instead of the sock, I'll try a tiny short strip of velcro to keep the flip shot.

You beat me to it lol.
I was thinking about doing this, for the exact same reason as yourself. Just a quick question, does the cover fold all the way back like it would without the TPU case installed?

yeah, it does. the cover can bend all the way down to the edge of the tpu cover.

just did something similar. cut side off the tpu gel case, stretched the gel case to fit the slightly thicker flip case back cover.
it works, but the tpu case loses some of its rigidity when you cut it, it wont stick as well to the phone.

I think the best way is to avoid cutting near the corner. Instead of cutting the gel case to suit the flip cover, cut some of the leather flap to make it shorter/narrower, then you cut the gel case to fit it (just below the volume rocker. Here's a pic:

doing it that way would then cause the the flip cover to lose some durability.
by cutting the tpu case to fit the flip case as is, you still leave 1.5cm of gel case around the corners, which is enough for the phone to hold the case on. the only point of weakness lies in the flip case making the phone's rear thicker. by cutting one side of the tpu case and having to wrap it around a thicker phone will kinda distort the tpu case a little.
its not enough to make it fall off that easily, at least not now. but its not as rigid compared to tpu case uncut and i'd expect it to become a little loose with wear and tear.

Yo, sup dawg, I herd you like cases, so I put a case in your case so you can put another case while you using a case in a case.

lol, for my motorola atrix, i had the ballistic hardcore case. you get the core plastic+tpu case with screen protector integrated, and then a silicone skin that can fit on the outside, and then a beltclip/screen guard. when you run the inner case and silicone skin together, the device is water-resistant.
but honestly, i dont see why people think what we're doing is silly.
the flip cover is good for protecting the screen, but doesnt protect the corners. protecting the corners is important because statistically, if you were to drop your phone, its 90+% more likely to land on a corner first than flat on its face. the vibrations of the drop are then going to transfer into the device's internals, which can do a bit of damage, hence you need protection for the corners.
the tpu case is good for protecting the device itself but offers no real protection from the screen aside from preventing it from getting damaged if it were to land flat face down. if your screen were to land on a corner of a table, you'd be screwed.
by combining the cases, you get the best of both worlds protection wise.

i agree there.
about 6 months ago i bought my motorola atrix for $500. to me, spending $40 on a ballistic hardcore case is cheap insurance for a $500 phone.
and a few weeks ago i spent $800 on my galaxy note (now some places are selling it for $600), to me, $30 is cheap insurance to ensure it continues running well. although i would prefer another ballistic hardcore case, i dont think ballistic have any plans for the note.

yeah...there aren't that many good Case Company that have plans for our Note

I wish casemate would make a tough case for the note. I loved them for my gs and gs II. They had a thin flexible silicone sleeve that went around the phone then a hard outer shell that went around the silicone.
great freaking case.

I should be updating this post to Quadruple Protection...because I have just put the Skinomi Carbon Fibre Skin on it this Friday.
and I must say the skinomi skin is Great!

one particular advantage about the way i have it set up...
the friction of the tpu gel case means it doesnt slide, meaning i can use the flip cover as a stand.

Do you find the unlock button hard to press?

http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=140637892999&ssPageName=ADME:L:OC:AU:1123
the case i bought was this one.
it is slightly harder to press the power button, but thats mainly because of the way im using the case. the phone is slightly thicker when you use the samsung flip cover, so the gel case has to be stretched a little. on the case, theres a slightly softer rubber/plastic gap for the power button which works well normally, but since the case is stretched a little, it is slightly off center for the power button. not enough to cause problems, but enough to notice a bit of a difference.
but overall, i'd say it works well. gel case + screen protector + flip cover = ready to take this thing when i go paintballing!

I was bringing my phone over to me from reaching over to get it from my back pocket, and a little slip happened and I ended up semi-tossing the phone on the ground. It was the one time I had taken the case off and well, you play with fire, you get burned.
I was wondering where it would be best to buy a hardcase for my new EVO (thank god for phone insurance), as well as screen protectors, and a charging cable (my other one has been subjected to lots of wear and tear and I have to bend it into mindboggling directions to get the phone to charge).
I'm try to go for at least bulk as possible but I still want some decent protection, any recommendations?
I bought the innocase rugged from Seido it has 180 degrww clip and a little bulky but great protection.
otterbox, ballistic and trident all seem to be the top cases for evo's.
personally, i currently recommend the trident cyclops.
sorry about your phone man.

I personally went with a smoke colored tpu case from Luxmo. It serves hard case protection with a mix of gel case and almost not there feeling.

That's where I first spotted it but I ended up buying at Carry Mobile.

I'm guessing it's the same people as it shipped from Hong Kong, took almost 3 weeks.
I Have the Seidio Innocase II and holster. Just got my wife the active limited edition. One thing to watch out for with the holster is your side brushing up against something and unlatching the phone.(like your seat belt latch) Because of this, my evo took a three foot fall a few days ago. It landed on the corner and cartwheeled down my driveway. The only damage was a few scuffs on the case. This is my fourth phone with the seidio cases on them. I used to be a field service technician and I was really hard on my phones. Every phone I have had has taken several falls to concrete, dirt and rocks. I even cracked the seidio case that I had on my tour. I figured the case did its job and bought a new one. I know a lot of people like the otterbox and other cases, but I really like the seidio holster set up. Im thinking about stepping up to the extended rugged case if I get the extended battery. Don't like the idea of losing the kickstand though.

catseyenu,
how does the flip cover on the Jacka model stay shut? I see a little lip on top that acts as a fastener. Does it work well? If the phone were to fall out of my hands, I would want the flap to stay shut.

The leather is encasing a thin rigid (plastic?) frame that adds tension to the clasp.
I've had it about a month and it's worked well so far, the only concern I have is if the leather bands at the bottom stretch out it could become loose.
If that occurs I know a good boot maker that can fix it for me.

Truthfully verizons body glove case is best for non bulkyness.Very stable fits well .ect.
I like my body glove
Personally I have tried the Body Glove case and I like the Otter Box Commuter case a little better. The new Seidio Innocase Active is also a very nice case; a close second to the Otter Box.
Definitely otter box. Slim sturdy and stylish

one problem though it has to slide into my jeans. Most of these cases have rubber and dont slide
Throwing in a vote for the Body Glove case.. great fit with just enough bulk to give you that warm protected feeling

You should check out Techie Warehouse. If you go to the Covers & Skins area for the Droid X you'll find over 300 covers to choose from.
Best one I got laying around was not a Seidio, Otterbox or Trident... it was the Dual Layer Vertex Covers just google "techie warehouse vertex cover for droid x"
I quote from our product description about this product "The Motorola Droid X gets ultimate protection. A Screen Protector and two virtual walls of defense. The inner silicone core absorbs shock from bumps and drops. A hard polycarbonate exterior shell prevents cuts, scrapes, dings, and damage for the Motorola Droid X."
Let me know what you think of it.
i bought one of the 3 dollar black silicone ones off amazon. works fine for me..

I have had the Otterbox, Seidio, Innocase, Verizon, Kragen, but I didnt really like any of them. Iphone cases are so much more refined compared to these.
The Otterbox Seidio, and Kragen cases are too bulky, the Innocase looks good but broke on me, and the Verizon Kickstand Case was too cheaply made.
There is a guy from another forum thats making a phone case. It looks great but its not for sale yet, I am personally looking forward to it because he claims its easy to open and has a bunch of other features. It looks absolutely beautiful, so lets hope he can pull this off.
Right now Im using a cheap Ebay Silicone case, its not great either but it was only $2 and thats value for money. I also got a Smartphone Coaster, its a cheap bit of tin but it does the job for now.

+1 For the Body Glove
I really enjoy my Body Glove, Although I've managed to wear out the snap on the lower left side by removing the case over time to do a battery pull and it no longer holds securely.
I have a Green Trident Kraken on order, due to arrive today actually assuming UPS will brave the icy roads, Good reviews on protection but they all admit to the sacrifice of sleekness.
The pliable verizon silicone case is nice and it fits with extended battery-Motorola and cover. You can find them for $10 online or eBay.
Check ebay item #250759993717
I bought a Sedieo Innocase Surface back in December it cracked in half in January. They are really nice looking, but if you ever have to do a battery pull or if you want to use your car dock, forget about getting it out of the damn case. It fits way to tight. So I am back to the ole Silicone case, which works fine, but sucks if you put it in your pocket, cause it sticks to cloth / jean material.
I'm on my 2nd Body Glove case.
Likes: Belt clip, rubber texture, light weight
Dislikes: Rubber texture deteriorates, weak tabs will not survive impact.
It has kept my DX from scratches but the tabs that snap it together break too easily. First was replaced under warranty. I think I will kick out the $ for an Otter.

Those cases with tabs that snap together aren't meant to be taken apart, after 4 or 5 times they will break. I created a case that opens easily, has no tiny tabs to break and has a multitude of other features.
I've also taken great care to make sure that the case is placed further away from the screen and buttons making it easy to touch the screen and press the buttons on the bottom.
There's space for the OEM extended battery, an extra micro SD card, and even an ID or credit card.
The case also functions as a stand and car mount, my case allows you to watch movies, make movies, capture photos, and use your phones GPS in your car with ease. These features not only work with the Motorola Droid X but with other cases, other phones, and even some other electronic devices such as digital cameras.
The case isn't any more expensive then other high quality cases either. Its 20 bucks and made from the same high strength plastic as other high end cases, so basically if your in the market for a case and other accessories you can pay for just the case and get the rest for free essentially.
If you think this case must be huge and weigh a lot you'd be surprised, its really a simple concept, its almost like a normal cellphone case but we've changed a the design a bit to allow it to function as an adjustable stand.
I can't post links yet so you'll have to google "Jawcase" to find more info, pics, and videos.
I like the Jawcase concept. Alot. I pledged. And good luck with getting your project off the ground Heather. Hope it gets funded.
I've gone through 3 body gloves now with my 4th's clips are broken yet again....
I think its a bit ridiculous that I cant take my phone case off because the clips can't stand it.
I need to find a new case, and I'm thinking of just going with one of the hard-ish silicone cases. The body glove looks great when you buy it, but the rubber wears away like no tomorrow and the clips are destroyed after a couple battery pulls. I had one for my enV touch and it lasted the entire lifespan of the phone with minor tears and such. My droid x's can't last anymore than maybe a month. Don't get me wrong, the body gloves are wonderful, but I'm clearly not having a good experience with it or maybe I'm not handling it properly
+1 for the body glove case. I havent had any issues with the tabs, but i always open it at the bottom with a coin.

Shoot...I was pretty much sold on the Innocase Surface case, was gonna order one in the next few days. I've tried the cheap TPU case, the cheap 2-piece snap together case, maybe I'll try the Verizon silicon one instead of the Innocase.

Seido Surface vs Incipio Feather

I currently have the Feather and love how it keeps the phone's slim profile while staying Rigid. From what I've read these cases seem to be similar, with the Feather not covering the top and the bottom, and the Surface being a two piece that snaps together. Does anyone own both of these cases and/or knows if the Surface is either thicker or the same thickness of the Feather?
I've tried the Ringke(best silicone case I've seen) and the ruggedized Moto battery cover and they helped me remember why I don't like soft cases...mainly because of the lip moving around when you take it out of your pocket every one in awhile. I also have a TPU case and that is probably the best soft case.
I have both cases. I went with the Seido case for day to day use.
Yes the Seido case adds some bulk over the Incipio, but I thought the trade off was worth it.
Both have the rubberized feel for extra grip, but without the super extra grip of the silicone or full rubber cases. The Seido slide on/off design means not have to "snap" or "pry" the case off when I need to get to the SD Card or Battery. The Incipio feather created "edges" which I just didn't like the feel of at the top and bottom of the phone.
I agree ^ I also have both, and even though the surface does add a little bit more bulk/ thickness, it does provide more coverage therefore protection. And just an fyi, the surface doesn't fit any dock I've tried it in even with the case insert removed... Which does suck, but its very easy to take off once you get used to it.

Seidio all the way man. I dropped my phone once and it got scratched on the sides where the Incipio wasn't protecting. what's the point of even having a case if it barely protects it?

A lot of people, myself included, don't look for a case to protect the phone against impact, but simply to protect it from the day to day wear and tear of pulling it in and out of pockets or getting scratched by keys or some loose change.

Do any of you use the Surface with the holster? Right now, I am leaning towards that instead of the Otterbox, but I'd like to know that the holster holds the phone securely before I spend the $50.00.
Thanks in advance.

considering the only part of the phone that the feather doesn't cover is the flimsy cheap plastic battery cover, i don't see the problem. i got the feather to protect the metal sides, which it does.
seidio makes great cases but it's just too bulky for my liking.
Thanks guys for the reviews and comparisons. I was on the verge of picking up the Seidio Surface, but after the news of the leaked HTC Holiday specs, I think I am going to curb my spending on any future Atrix accessories.

Hey buddy, just answering your question, I own both Surface and Active from Siedo and both of them are just amazing. For daily use Active is the option and fix perfect in the hd dock once you remove the main base cover of it and for the Surface, very slim and fancy. Both holsters hold the device extremelly well!
Hope it help, greetings!

[Review] Trident Kraken AMS on GSM Nexus

First of all, i would like to thank the people over at Trident (www.tridentcase.com) for sending this case out to me.
Packaging - The box is pretty simple. Shows the product and the different colors it comes in. Black, Red, Pink, Green, and Blue. i will be showing off the black model. Inside the box comes a screen protector kit, which includes the screen protector, microfiber cloth and a applicator/squeegee card. The case retails for $49.95.
Case - The Kraken AMS case is a heady duty 3-Layer case which features a shock absorbing silicone, a polycarbonate plastic shell, rubber dust covers over the microphone and speaker, rubber covers over ports (charger and headset), and holster. The silicone part, or Perseus can be used as a stand alone case on days that you don’t need maximum protection, but will still give u good drop and scratch protection. The two polycarbonate shells cover the silicone to make the case durable. The case has a nice lip around the screen for a lay on table design. One accessory that the case comes with is a really durable metal kickstand. They also have other Kraken accessories which make the case more usable in everyday life. such as an AMS Bike Clip, AMS Tripod Mount, AMS Headphone Organizer, AMS Seatbelt Clip, and AMS Windshield Mount.
Thoughts - My thought on the case are it is made of very high grade materials. everything fits. cutouts are precise. I’ve only had the case for a few hours and i love it. the silicone is way much better than the otterbox defender. it feels of quality and doesn't attract lint. the volume and power buttons feel better than the naked buttons to me. the kickstand is SOLID and does its job great. the holster is just as heavy duty as the case and rotates so you can wear it comfortably. i will update the in a few days to give more opinions...
Pics - I will have pics of the phone with the case tomorrow, as my nexus is my only camera at the moment.

Conclusion - I think the case is well worth the $50 you are paying. you are getting a heavy duty case that can be used as a lightweight case also that provides an ample amount of protection. I would definitely recommend this case to anyone who is looking for an overall great case that will add bulk to your device.

Can't wait to see some pictures of the phone inside the case.
Some questions...
First, how do the two plastic pieces (the front and back) fit together?
On my otterbox defender, they just snap together with some tiny little clips and after about two drops 3 out of 4 clips are already broken so the only thing holding them together is the silicone cover that goes on the outside. I'm hoping the kraken is a lot more rugged in that aspect... The otterbox is great at protecting the phone but the case itself is already trashed after a few drops which isn't cool.
Second, how bulky is the kraken? It looks bulkier than the otterbox defender, especially on the sides since it looks like it has a ridge sticking out from either side of the screen. Does it feel good in the hand? My defender definitely makes the phone about 30% thicker which makes it less comfortable to hold but I've gotten used to it. Don't know how I'd feel about the ridges on the Kraken however.
Anyway thanks for the review.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda premium
hmmmm. might just scratch, but not blend.
the two plastic pieces fit together nice and tight. the top and bottom are snap together. but the sides are actually placed in slots, it can be slight difficult to remove if u don't have nails. but i see that as a good thing. the Kraken would take some time to show wear and tear.
it may b just a tad bit bulkier, but the grip is a for sure thing. the poly carbonate is not glossy but isn't matte. it's sort of in between but doesn't show finger prints. the sides have ridges for better grip as well. i actually thought the defender felt great in hand, maybe because i have small hands tho.
few more pics.

the case fits the GSM extended battery with no problems at all.
Does this case make it hard to press the volume and power buttons? And it seems to cover up the notification light at the bottom doesn't it?
the buttons are the best thing on the case IMO. and the notification light isnt covered.

HI, just wondering if you wound up getting the 2000mah battery afterall and if so, how well it fits.
if it fits 100 percent with extended battery im a get one to
i recently bought one it appears the notification light is 40% block.. i'm using the standard battery gsm version could that be the reason i wonder
I have the same case with the extended battery (Sprint) and everything fits perfectly. The notification light is about 50% blocked but I dont use it anyways so it did not bother me much. The notification bar is easy to pull down with no interference with the top of the case like with the otterbox. The case can take a beating I have drop tested survived a 12ft drop. Even though it adds bulk because it is hard polycarbonate on the outside it makes it really easy to get in and out of pockets even with tighter fitting jeans.
Also if you have a Costco or Sams Club near by you can pick up the case for $30 instead of $50.
Seidio convert is better.. options for all gnex models and batteries

After a couple of months, do you guys still recommend the Kraken?

I would recommend it if you are looking for a case that offers similar or even more protection than the Otterbox Defender. The case adds quite a bit of bulk to your phone though so that may turn off some people.
Throughout the work week, usually switch between the Kraken, Otterbox Commuter, and the SGP leather pouch. The Kraken will be used only if I have to go out to do field work.
The Commuter is only used if I feel like I don't want to use the SGP pouch. Otherwise I end up using the SGP pouch most of the time on the slower days of work where I'm just stuck in the office.
I'm leaning toward the Kraken because I've read a couple of story about how the Otterbox defender was scratching phones.
I have a commuter right now but I need something more rugged for work and also to protect my GNex from my crazy kids

If that's the case, the Kraken would be a good purchase for you. My Kraken case has held up well when I drop my phone when I'm out doing field work. Very durable and well worth it!

Which case for SG2 i9100 + protection

Hello, guys
I'm looking for a good case for my GS2 i9100...
It has to be: dual layer protection...
I found those two: Otterbox commuter series, and Mate-case tough.
Which one is the best? Or, are there other good cases on the market?
And if you got one, what are your experiences?
I have the Trident Aegis case and I really recommend it. I looked at the Otterbox Commuter but the back was slicker than what I wanted because I tend to have things fall out of my pockets and I didn't want my phone to be one of them. The Trident Aegis has a silicone underlayer that reveals itself at the bulked up corners and bevel, and has headphone and charging jack cover flaps to keep dust out. It's top layer is hard plastic but it has almost a soft, smooth texture to it that doesn't slide around as much. I've dropped this phone at least 10 times already and it's completely unscathed. Definitely check it out.

I looked at it, it seems give good protection to your phone, fit nicely, but it looks a little too bulky for me..
In my opinion Trident has the most protective cases while otter box may be more practical if you don't need the extra level of safety

Thank you,
I was looking for a cover where my phone was protected, the cover had to be good protection, but also a little stylish, not to bulky.
I also think trident and ballistic has the best protection, but I dont like the look so much...
So I made my decision and ordered a mate-case tough...
But I also need a good screen protection (but not too expensive), because I put my phone always in my pocket, sometimes with keys...
I always had a flipcover, that gives also protection for my screen... But I bought also the Exomount 2: universal car mount, which is an awesome mount, I'm very happy with that...
However with a mount, you can't use a flipcover, because you have to flip the cover to the back... So It wont fit nicely... (I hope you understand what i'm trying to say).
So I had to make a decision... A flipcover so I would protect my screen of scratches of my keys (but difficult to use in the car mount) OR a dual layer protected cover without a flipcover + screen protector... (and easy to use in the car mount)
So I want to use the cover anytime and everywhere... (I'm not planning for changing covers for each event), so it had to be a little stylish and not too bulky...
I hope that I made the right decision...
