Suitable Memory Card??? - Galaxy 3 Accessories

I am planning to buy a memory card for my Galaxy 3.
I already have a Class 2 8GB card which I will give to my father.
So I was looking for a better memory card this time.
I have following 3 options right now.
8 GB class 10 : Rs 700/-
16 GB class 6 : Rs 1100/-
32 GB class 4 : Rs 1950/- (Probably not worth it)
I was actually looking for 32 GB class 10 within 2000 but not available. or even if it is available, It wont be affordable for me.
I would like some developers like Dharam, Hillbeast, Naveen or Kyrillos to suggest me what should I go for.
I am planning to use 2GB a2sd partition & 256MB swap on it.
How about Class 6 performance? Would I miss something if I go for the 16GB card?
Meaning, do I really need a class 10 card for a2sd and swap?
If anyone from India can direct me to some better deals than above 3 then I would be thankful.

Worst choice. The sd card is slow so app2sd will be slow and you won't even use 32GB of space. Class 10 is fastest so you will be fine since you want to partition 2GB

I bought a samsung 8 GB class 6 microsd card from ebay-dot-in for around 500 Rs.It does not seem to lag, but sdtools my transfer speeds are 6 Mbps read and 4 Mbps write, which is the same as what i was getting earlier with a class 4 verbatim. These speeds were checked after setting the buffer to 2048 KB.

I feel like I need the 16 GB class 6.
btw I am getting 6 Mbps read 5 Mbps write (buffer = 4096 KB) on class 2 Transcend. Isn't that weird??? (I actually opened up to see. It is class 2 indeed!!)

Dont go for 32 gb - You are phone will get hang up
Use how much you required .I guess 16Gb is sufficient

[Q] what SD Card class is best?

Hello,
My mSD card just died on me, I had 16gb class 2, so I have decided to buy a new one, so my question would be, which CLASS would be the best, and full usable on phone. I mean, if I'll get Class6, will I use the full potential of it on my phone? Or would Class4 be good enough? I am using A2SD, so the speed of the card is essencial for me, but I dont want to buy Class8 if I wont be able to use it on full potential.
thanks for help
I am using the " Transcend microSDHC 8GB Class 6" and it works pretty fast.
I think it's a big difference with a class2 SD Card.
Class 6 is the highest a MicroSD card can go. There is a class 10 but that's for SDXC cards for use with HD video recording etc.

Class 10 cards are really expensive most time. I also heard that sometimes classes don't matter. If you are using a class 4 (high quality) and a class 6 (low quality) the class 4 would be faster. But it's not always this situation.

Transcend 8 GB Class 6 ordered off amazon for 10£, can be locked, thanks
Look at my sig for a pictural definition of what i use
Speed classes
I bought a class 6 MicroSD card, because the stock SD was defective. It is a huge leap forward!
Class 2 = 13x rating = Read (Mbit) 16.0 / Write (Mbit) 16.0 = Like 2MB min. R/W
Class 4 = 26x rating = Read (Mbit) 32.0 / Write (Mbit) 32.0 = Like 4MB min. R/W
Class 6 = 40x rating = Read (Mbit) 48.0 / Write (Mbit) 48.0 = Like 8MB min. R/W
Class 10 =66x rating = Read (Mbit) 80.0 / Write (Mbit) 32.0 = Like 10MB min. R/W
So, the x rating is equal to 1.2Mb/s (Like the standard CD-rom speed)

Yes, the Desire can use the speeds till Class 10 (And maybe faster) WITH big files. A time back I red a comparison and difference between Class 4 and 10 was with largest file almost 10MB+ faster (for the Class10) But with small files the classes doesn't really matter, 4 or 10 Class cards will be even slow because the Desire HW is the bottleneck!

exactly what I needed, so basicaly, for a2ext it doesnt really matters, and the apps will be loaded equally from class2 or class6, since those are very small files, right?
to my experience, d2ext has shown quite improvement over class 6 card
Get a good quality, high capacity 16GB +, class 4 card. that should do for you for a good while.

[Q] 32gb Class 4 and Class 6 Benchmarks?

I currently have a Class 2 16gb card and would like to upgrade to a 32gb, but I would like to know if Class 6+ makes any difference on the Epic.
Currently using SD Tools I get 5.6mb/s write and 17.0mb/s read on a card formatted using 64k allocation and using the 2048kb read ahead patch.
Could someone run SD Tools with a Class 6 (or higher) and a Class 4 card?
Thanks.

I went and bought a class 6 sdcard from "lexar". And my benchmarks using "sdcard speed" went up a good bit. But the class 6 card cost about $100, with shipp8ing and all. I heard that there's a lot of cheap quality class 6 cards out there that don't give you a increased read/write speed boost over a class 2. So be careful on what brand sdcard you buy...
I get a 12mb/s to 14mb/s write speed, and a 62mb/s read speed with my "lexar" 16gb class 6 sdcard... using 3072 cache size

That seems very speedy for a phone. Wonder what speed a Class 4 would get.
I don't mind paying a bit more. I usually stick with name brand memory chips (sandisk, lexar, kingston, pny). I prefer Sandisk, but I've only seen class 4 32gb chips so far.

I get 10 write 24 read on my class 4 16gb sandisk with a 1024 patch. 1024 seems to work slightly better for my card than 2048, and definitely better than other options I've tried. That 60 read sounds a little extreme to me. Leaves me wondering how you managed to squeeze so much more out of a class 6 of similar quality brand.

RECOMEND a Micro SD Class 10

I want some of you who already have Micro SD class 10 or at least have some expirience to recomend me what is the best i can get
I saw some Samsung Class 10 Micro SD card 8 and 16 GB im wondering betwen 8 and 16 i dont need 32 lol
But what im asking is .... for opinion what brand you will choice and for example what is the best choice to worth the money
i guess if i get 8GB class 10 will be better than 16 GB class 10
The main reason to use it is
I want to use it on my Wildfire with Ext4 and Data2SD to partition like 1GB internal space and the other left space to use of Music Pictures documents Movies etc
So i think if the card is smaller will be even faster for the whole device
Thanks in advance
for now i stop on SAMSUNG buttt i want opinion

[Q] 16GB class 2 vs. 32 GB class 4

I currently have 16 GB class 2, and i am about to but 32GB class 4.
what is the diffrences beetween them ?
The games will work smother with class 4?
I have a 32 GB class 10 micro sd card, bit I didn't really notice any difference in speed compared to the 8 GB class 2 micro sd that came with the phone...
Sent from my R800i using XDA
The class rating of an Sd card is based of off its Write speed. So a 16gb class 2 would write at 2mb per second, the 32 gb class 4 will be able to write at 4mb per second, There is a slight "catch" however when using larger storage Sd cards, its been explained to me in the past that when you go up in storage it takes the device (phone, pc, camera ect.) longer periods of time to initially read the card itself because its now reading through more storage space then before (even if that space is empty in places).
With that in mind, the 32gb class 4 will Write files to it self at a faster speed then the 16gb class 2, but it will take your phone longer periods of time to access the information on the larger Gb card, so will games play smoother off your Sd card, technically no, they wont. But what you will achieve are faster data transfer rates when moving files to and from.
Also take into account that the class rating system isnt exactly perfect. For instance my 32gb class 4 is rated to write at 4mb per second, but its achieved 6mb per second depending on the files, and Im currently using a 32gb class 10 which most of the time writes data at 12mb per second.
I hope this helps
I think the best would be those samsung or sandisk ultra class6 cards.

There was some other thread around where people found that class10 cards had higher latency and slower access times than the class4 ones. So they're not really suited for mobile phones where quick data access is more important than high transfer rates.

I still believe storage size has a greater effect on access time then the class rating, classes are read/write speeds but more space takes longer time to read. The class itself being suitable, depends more upon the manufacturer of the sd card, and the manufacturer of the device and the device its being used in. A 4gb class10 is going to give you great performance in your device where as a 32gb class10 will indeed function a little slower but depends if you need all that space or not. I'm no expert but that has been my experience.

It will decrease its "lifespan" but probably won't kill it, I think the apps2sd script bumps things up drastically and I didn't have any troubles for the while I was using it, but the SD card manufacturer and its class might have some effects on the bumped up lifespan .. probably good to at least make sure you have a spare!

I think it is differ at the read and write speed of sdcard. Maybe it will effect the game, if you swap the sdcard. Then when it need to read data from sdcard, the higher class will make it faster. Just what i understand about that. Correct me if i'm wrong

Class 2 is the slowest SD card speed. It had a write speed of about 2MBPS and is suitable for standard video recording. Class 4 and class 6 have 4 and 6 MBPS write speed respectively and can be used for HD Video recording. Class 10 (obviously) has a 10MBPS write speed and beyond that is the UHS speed cards that can go up to 312MBPS.

Speed Classes 2, 4, and 6 assert that the card supports the respective number of megabytes per second as a minimum sustained write speed for a card in a fragmented state.
You should utilize only UHS Speed Class.
Class 2,4,6,10 are laggy.

I disagree. Even at class 8, the sd card is said to be fast enough to be used as ram. Pretty sure anything you load from a class 8 and above card will be fast enough. UHS might be overkill (more performance than needed, waste money)
As for class 4 or 6,if the price difference is huge, just go for class 4. Put your programs on internal storage and stuffs that don't need high speed communication with your cpu such as pictures, video, unused files, etc can be placed in external.
