[Q] Browser Keyboard Settings? - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

It's driving me insane with no dictionary and vibrate. What am I overlooking?

the settings button is next to the 123 button.

Damn. See I'm not insane. Why on earth would Google not include that. Typing on XDA is a pain since I can't spell.

just a quick update. If you use Opera Browser then even stock keyboard works well with your dictionary!

been using it since i first got my E4gt and i love the new one...thank god they fixed the space bar haha i got tired of putting a million periods in every text
Yeah and the predictive text is by far the best I have seen!

Nice thanks for the update, still the one annoying bug with going back to correct stuff typed earlier though. If you dont click the end of the word it leaves letters.

User preference personally I like it better and I was a big fan of swype when it first came out but swift key makes it easier for me to text because it fixes my errors a lot better then swype did

Does swift key automatically capitalize I and make im into I'm? That always bothered me about it and I prefer swype over it because of that.
Have had it.. Lol

swiftkey has always done that. swiftkey is notorious for its predictive text which it can learn from your gmail, facebook, and twitter. seriously, i can type half a word and click the prediction, and then click only the remaining predictions and end up with the sentence i want. just from typing half a word, 4 letters total.
Yea.. It has a ton of options lol

does the new swiftkey finally add ur contacts to ur dictionary?
No it doesn't add your recent contacts to the dictionary which is probably the only reason I like Thumb Keyboard. I mean, I'm using it right now and have no problems with it.
I've been using sk for a while now and its my daily kb. Love it. One thing its missing is compact qwerty. Put that in and its the best. The predictive text is second to none imo
I like SwiftKey 2 better for some reason :/ This one added an "ñ" key to my keyboard because I have both English and Spanish activated. I had both activated on SK2 also but it didn't have it (which I liked better and now I keep accidently hitting the ñ key thinking that it is "l" like in the last version).

Auto correct in keyboard

My wife misses the auto correct of the iPhone. Does Android have something as comparable, besides the predictive text? The predictive text was just totally messing up her sentences. It doesn't seem to work as good as iPhone. So I assume I'm missing something.
The default keyboard with predictive text is pretty bad. Download SwiftKey 3 Keyboard from the Google Play Store. It will cost you, but trust me, it's worth it.

Agree with above. SwiftKey is a must.
Are you guys talking about the Samsung keyboard?
That is terrible, but the jellybean keyboard is really good in predicting your words, so I'd recommend trying to get that.

Another recommendation for SwiftKey. You can type a whole book without ever using the space bar. they let you try it before you buy. 30 day trial I think. Good stuff.
Redundant by now, but yeah, go SwiftKey. You could literally mess up every letter of every word and you would never know lol.

I downloaded SwiftKey for the auto correction feature but still run into issues where (even) SwiftKey knows I spelled a word wrong but will not auto append it to the correct word its predicting. Is there a setting that I am not seeing somewhere as I've been through all the menu's (both native and 3rd party input settings)?
Thanks, she was immediately impressed with the new one.

No problem, that's what we are here for!!
Try Swype beta from the Swype web site. It's not available in the app market. It's predictive text is spot on most of the time and its easy to fix the mistake if it made one.

Messed up Swiftkey and Chrome typing?

Anyone else having the issue where when they type in text boxes (usually on forums) using quote and reply, swiftkey autocorrect places words in the wrong place and overwrites words ABOVE where you're actually typing?
YES! I hate this problem so much. I thought I was the only one having it. I don't know of a way to fix it either.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I747 using xda app-developers app
Yeah, but for me at least, when I hit a submit it shows fine on the thread
Sent from my SGH-I747 using Tapatalk 2
I don't have any problems with Swiftkey and Chrome. But then I don't use the auto correct feature. I much prefer the auto-predict instead. And when I press the spacebar, it just puts a space instead of filling in the rest of my text. So I type the first few letters of a word, then I click the auto-predict suggestions to complete the word.
Sorry I know it doesn't help you much, but it's just another thing to try using if you are like me and hate auto-correct from ANY keyboard.
Can we get this upvoted? http://support.swiftkey.net/forums/...170532-incorrect-placement-of-autocorrections
This problem is annoying as hell and makes forum posting impossible
Haha I have that same problem.. First I only noticed it when I was drunk so I assumed it was me.. But has started happening more often and when I'm sober now also

I am giving it a try but I still think Swype is better. There is a big thread on the beta over here.
Sometimes I want to type a word and NOT have a space after it - so, I press backspace, then say, type a comma and it "auto corrects" to the wrong word. Even if I keep re-typing it and going back again and again, it keeps auto correcting it away from the word I wanted.
So, if a word is not in the dictionary yet and I want a comma right after it (no space) I don't know how to do that yet

Loving this so far... the initial dictionary downloads were slow this morning, I suspect they were swamped!
I switched back to Swype
They could not get even a third if my swiped words plus the keyboards extra colors look to unnatural to me
It just doesn't flow well together

Trying it now... And.. I think I like it! I'll have to give it a few days and see how it fares! I've been having a few issues with swype since jb (the failure to auto space in browser boxes... Grrr), so this could become my new input-er of choice
Thanks, Frost...

Hmmm i just noticed that the flow (swype) didn't work when i was searching for an app on the market... Er... play, that is... Seems to be nonfunctional for any Google search Window (noticed the same behavior in the Maps search) for me (though it works fine for browser search boxes...). Anyone else seeing this?

That is by design. Flow is not used in any text entry box where the app provides auto complete.

Sorry, but anyone saying Swype is better is completely delusional. Swiftkey is, and has been, lightyears ahead of Swype in auto-correction, multi-language support, and customization. Period!

It's all personal preference. I, for one, prefer Swype over SwiftKey. I do like SwiftKeys auto-correct and prediction more, but I've just gotten so use to Swype that I can type a message faster even with all that stuff SwiftKey has on Swype. Flow has just begun beta.. maybe when they get all bugs worked out I'll be able to make the switch.

Yeah, it's all about personal preference. I've never liked swype and the keyboard app that comes with the phone. I've always used SwiftKey and loved it. I might just have to try the flow version of Swiftkey.
I believe that it uses the SwiftKey dictionary that was learned with the regular app.. Because it is predicting everything like normal but just with flow
Sent from my SPH-L710 using xda premium
Just tried the beta, I'm just not a flow person.
You can use it just like regular SwiftKey
Sent from my SPH-L710 using xda premium
Yes, it's all personal preference, but when it comes to text prediction, SwiftKey wins by a country mile.
Sent from my SGS3!
Well ive been using this I have to say swype pisses me off with one thing only which is when you are choosing numbers there is no period at the bottom but a comma. It's annoying because I have to go back and forth between numbers and go back to put the periods. And of course the auto prediction on this thing is amazing.

I didn't like this too but found out you don't have to go back to insert the punctuation before the space just insert it afterwards and it will auto correct to before the space.

I do not like this flow version of any SwiftKey. Well accept it is better at button mashing than Swype. Word accuracy when swiping sucks so bad compared to Swype.
.:Sent from my Sprint Galaxy Note II:.
I'm absolutely loving flow. To me, it's the same SwiftKey that I have always loved, but with swype added. I really like how it shows you what the outcome of your swype is going to be without having to release and see what you're result is going to be.

[Q] Enabling autocorrect on S4?

Does anyone know how to enable autocorrect on the S4 (T-Mobile)? I have looked in every setting and can't find it. I found the predictive text option and enabled that, but that doesn't autocorrect when you hit a space or punctuation. Is there any solution other than installing a 3rd party keyboard from the play store?
Yea same here

i used this 1 https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=jellybeankeyboard.f.g&feature=nav_other#?t=W251bGwsMSwyLDYsImplbGx5YmVhbmtleWJvYXJkLmYuZyJd
try that or there are more apk here on forumhttp://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1966336 such as this 1
In S4 it is called auto replacement.
Go to:
1.Settings
2.My device (tab, at the top)
3.Language and Input
4.Select the set up icon beside Samsung Keyboard
5.Now, touch Predictive text, don’t touch/select the green toggle switch
6.Finally select Auto replacement tick box
That option for "auto replacement" isn't available in those settings.
Sent from my SGH-M919 using xda app-developers app
I feel for you... that was one of the main things about Swype that I liked. Guess what, Swype is already on the s4. Language and input options. I think it dies a better job than the Samsung keyboard. The only thing I am going to miss is the extra number row in the Samsung keyboard which Swype doesn't have.
Sent from my SGH-M919 using Tapatalk 4 Beta
Auto replacement isn't on USA s4s because of an apple lawsuit if memory serves me right. You can flash some libs and the apk to get it from the international but its supposed to be laggy. Try Google keyboard in play store
