[Solved] Video camera not showing full resolution - Samsung Captivate Glide

When I go into video recording mode, the max resolution is displays is 1280x720 even though this phone supports 1080p. I checked the hardware with software info apps and the camera is supposed to be able to capture 1080p as well. Is this a hardware or software problem? Anyone else not able to record video in 1080p?

not quite.....i think SGS Glide only has 720p....
there is a disclaimer at the bottom, but after reading a few reviews of the device, everything says 720p, no 1080p.

That's weird because the video camera is reported to support up to 1080p in apps like Elixir and I vaguely remember rogers showing 1080p recording unless it's been changed now.

In fact, it was changed, just like the NFC, crap, no 1080p video recording, no NFC, what the f*ck was Samsung thinking ?

1080p 60fps recording

Hi. Does anybody know why HTC doesn´t support 1080p 60 fps video recording? Is it software or hardware related? If it´s software related, is there any possibility to record video in 1080p @ 60fps?

Hardware is definitely capable. Lots of apps in play store will record at 1080/60fps. I haven't tried any, I'll leave that to you.

Hey, I am also interested in this topic. In fact the only thing holding me back getting a 10 is the question if it is able to record 60hz at least with an after market app. So could anybody who already owns one try this please?
Open Camera doesn't work
Tested Open Camera from the play store. You can set the framerate to 60 fps but it will still record in 29.97 fps.

Google Photos does not show 1080p 60fps or 4K video?

I've noticed that any 60fps 1080p video or 4K video that I take on my Pixel XL and upload to Google Photos always shows up as plain old 1080p. Has anyone else noticed this?
I've noticed that if I download the same video in Google Drive to my machine, 60fps or 4K remains intact- but not when playing back in the browser (either in Drive or Photos).

When playing back in photos, do you adjust the quality in the bottom right? (Similar to YouTube)
Update: I see now. Even though it's got the quality options in the lower right, the options are limited to Auto are various resolutions from 1080P on down. No 4k or 60fps. Weird.

Yep very weird. I haven't seen anyone else talk about this issue either.
I am guessing that like YouTube that because the screen of the Pixel XL is 2k it doesn't give the option for 4k play back on the phone itself
That's a shame.... It should at least do the 60fps

The video has to be uploaded to a higher quality, most videos on YouTube are not higher than 1080p.
I have no issue seeing the 2K resolution when on a video that was uploaded in 2K. See attached photo.
Try the same video I did.

Have you updated your YouTube app?
If so, then the blame falls on Google. I know they have some lists for specific devices and being able to do such capabilities like VP9 playback.
If you are rooted, check this thread out: http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/apps-games/app-patched-youtube-vp9-60fps-playback-t3418216
It's the one I am using, I had no idea it had an effect on 2K resolution too.
I am not rooted stock and waiting for nougar update....okay i will try contacting google fkr a possible sollution
Solveddddd.......i just uninstalled the installed updates to the youtube app
In other words uninstalling youtube from playstore and then trying playing a 2k video give me 2k resolution.. Updated to latest version again....and working

help needed please

hello guys I don't know what I've done but I only have 720p now when I go on you tube it only shows 720 p it used to show 1080 and 1080 hdr is there any other settings to get it back I don't know what I've done I have it set to fhd+ , I must of touched something I don't want to restore lol I deleted a few Chinese apps that's all I've done . heres pics of settings
so I changed screen resolution to hd+720p and took a screenshot it shows 720p
I then changed it to fhd+1080p took another screenshot and it shows 1080 as in pics , so my device screen is set properly to 1080p but somehow YouTube only posts in 720? I've uninstalled YouTube and it's still the same any ideas anyone ,,I loved to show off my screen on YouTube hd videos? it used to work
it must be YouTube has they been any updates I checked with a resolution checker and it's 1080p FHD+ when set and 720p when set to hd+
is there any other video settings I can check I didn't think I was a noob I usually sort stuff out
so back again lol when I watch my own videos on YouTube they are 1080p when I watch other people's videos it only goes to Max 720? very strange... I've always used same 4k content to show off my screen at 1080 so it's not the vids
Not sure what's the issue but mine can view in 1080p. Maybe it's really the video?

S9 and Netflix low resolution problem

I cant get Netflix app to play videos with higher resolution than 720p and 30 FPS. The S9 has hardware capability to show 1440p and 60FPS, but Netflix seems to limit this to low resolution.
Any fix for this?
I have tried it on out superfast Wi-Fi and superfast LTE, no difference.
You can check this with Netflix own "Test Pattern" videos. Actual FPS and Resolution is shown in upper right corner when you zoom out to original video size.

No root. Actually have the same problem on my Tab S4.
But we get full 4K and 60 FPS on our Samsung TV built in app, and also our Nvidia Shield TV.

I believe resolution is limited by your Netflix subscription, if you only paid for 720p then that's the max res you can watch with

App limitation apparently, this one might get you 1080p
https://www.apkmirror.com/apk/netflix-inc/netflix/netflix-5-3-1-build-19296-release/
all versions up to 5.3.1 operate at 1080p and a bitrate of 5800kbps which is the highest quality possible on smartphones.

I tested this method today, it works! So it is indeed app limitation NOT subscription. Tested it on my s9 and girfriends s9+, both worked. However, getting to 720p resolution on the newer versions is much faster than getting to 720p or 1080p on this older version. So maybe locking to 720p is the effect of some network and streaming optimizations.
Had to go older to get mine working

I tried 5.3.1 but it immediately prompted me to update to continue. So I used 4.12.2 and my content was watchable again. I’m on an S9 with Pie.
Netflix 4.12.2 from ApkMirror
