[GUIDE] dsixda's Android Kitchen - Now supports SGS2 SGH-T989(D) (Windows/Linux/Mac) - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S II SGH-T989

dsixda's Android Kitchen - Now for Samsung Galaxy SII SGH-T989/T989D
Compatible with Windows (Cygwin) / Linux / Mac OS X
The following is a guide to assist you with creating your own Samsung Galaxy S2 SGH-T989 (and equivalent devices) custom ROMs with the kitchen. This is NOT a guide to help you become Cyanogen or do fancy things with AOSP, but it may be your springboard to bigger things in the future.
Some of you already know about the Android Kitchen. It is a project I started on back in February 2010 to help newbies create their own custom ROMs and learn more about Android. As of version 0.181, you can now create your own Galaxy S2 SGH-T989(D) ROMs with the kitchen. This includes the T-Mobile Galaxy S2 and the Telus Galaxy S2 X.
I'd like to thank twopumpchump (who owns an AT&T Skyrocket) and -Mr. X- (Telus Galaxy S2 X) for helping me out, as well as for testing on their devices and providing feedback. I only have a Bell Galaxy S2 I9100 so their assistance was greatly appreciated!
I have already posted an equivalent thread for the AT&T Skyrocket, so no need for redundancy. The same steps will work for your device.

Thanks, figured to wait for this. Will it just come up as an update to the kitchen?

I went thru the process of installing everything. The problem I am having is when I create the kitchen folder, the user name it is being put under has a space in it. (ie John Doe). I am using the C:\cygwin as the main base folder. I have changed the computer name to (john) and the user name to (john), and re installed the program but it still comes up (John Doe). Any idea on how to fix? Please PM me if you need more info..
Thanks

Thank but no, all the T-Mobile kernels run slow. I don't know what it is, but it lags so much, and this kernel I'm using (Da_G) is super fast. With Dewizzed . Ill make a video if I have to lol.

Faux kernal is based off skyrocket drivers and does not lag. I don't know which one you tried but version 7 has no lag. I think he switched sources in 6 or 7 but try again kernal is amazing
Tried 7, it was horrible compared to Da_G's.

Yes, that was my first impression, when I saw CNA was back. Uncertain about the whole situation this dev had with his kang bash. But it's up to you whether to support the Dev or not? Or I think its only up to those who got the harm from any previous actions, and only them shall accept the apology. Or we can just use the ROM and move on with the old story? It's 50/50 opinion. Feel free to state
http://rootzwiki.com/topic/31447-rom411aosp-codename-android-300-jb07312012/
His thread got closed right after the first day, and then got reopen. anyway now that I know, think it has to do with the old story. And a thead by him is not even present on XDA yet.

Or you could just ask for a title change in a more polite way instead of being a smart ass
Change the title to Blackdroid is BACK!
Few change their names (and don't tell anyone) for genuine reasons.
There is nothing wrong with it. Its fast good on battery life, stable and most of all you can customize anything.

Moved to General. Please keep all questions in General :good:
I think the porting will be kinda difficult since we are having a different CPU, RAM&GPU from SG2, we may need to find a lot of drivers for it, but I think some of them are not available that's why Arco needs to write them from scratch
But why dont you just use a custom ICS rom instead?

Maybe he thought that porting is easier and faster than writing from scratch
The firmware of the galaxy w has a lot of bugs while GSII not.
The galaxy sII is also better optimized and has ics.
I thought it was the kernel containing drivers for the hardware.
The galaxy s has a very similar hardware to the galaxy w.
Please, there is anyone that could help me?

Absolutely not, only S Advance and SII in the S lines will get an update to ICS, BTW SGS may be having quite a fast progress because that phone came out much earlier than SGW so they got more developers and maybe supports.

Seriously, even if somebody is going to do it, the stable CM9 may still be released earlier than this lol
I guess what he means in his "port" is porting the looks, ui, sounds, etc., of Samsung Galaxy SII into Galaxy Wonder.

[REQ] Default Touchwiz 4 (GB Version) that comes with i927

I don't know if I should ask here, I'm from Samsung Epic 4G, another QWERTY Android around here. I've been searching for a way to make this baby cosmetically a GB+Touchwiz4 device but stuck with the launcher. All Touchwiz 4 mods that claim to have landscape mode don't go landscape for me
So that's why I got an idea and come over to ask for help: is there anyone who has the default Touchwiz 4 launcher (should be in /system/app/, odexed should be okay) that comes with GINGERBREAD, and is kind enough to upload one? Also the ICS version is welcome too though not necessary...
Thanks in advance

Um... Can't install (but it should, because my device is on TW framework and should be compatible with any stock TW launcher), and size looks far from expectation (versions I have all are larger than 1.4MB)... Is this odexed or deodexed? If it's the former... I'll go download an deodexed OsiMood myself 'cuz I can't deodex a bare apk
UPDATE: Oops, I forgot to clear the defaults... It installs, but when trying to go home, it FCs. I reckon it's still an odexed one that lacked components...

Umm, at least I've tried several devices' TW launcher (both 3 and 4) and they work okay. The device is on stock TW so I assume it supports Glide's variant of the launcher also.
Too bad, after seeking around your forum, I can only find one legit TW4 GB ROM (OsiMood) Any other of this kind around here?

EDIT: I didn't find anything in the root thread, but found a way on Google that says MagicISO can open rfs files. Great, I'll try that.
