Why is the Tmobile version so much more???

I bought the phone the day after it came out but the total out the door was just short of $400. Then I would have gotten the $50 rebate.
I have a tmobile my touch 4g slide and it is a pretty good phone. I just couldn't justify $350 net so I returned it and paid the $50 restocking fee.
I got really ticked off when a co worker told me he got his from Sprint for $200. Then, a couple of days later, he told me that the cost was $100.

Probably the chip to support hspa+ 72 made it cost more than the lte models.
I think it's just T-Mobile's pricing structure. With my now-gone New Every Two discount on Verizon, I paid $130 with a new two-year contract for my white 16GB Galaxy S3.
Sent from my SCH-I535 using Tapatalk 2
I believe it's a mix of T-Mobile having cheaper plans for voice/text/data and also it could be the fact that the phone uses HSPA+.
I got mine on June 21st so I can't complain. Plus I have nothing but excellent contact with T-Mobile and excellent cell/data service.

I paid a full $640 for mine!!! But since I save $360 a year over AT&T and Verizon using Tmobile's Monthly4G Prepaid plan so I don't mind.
This tmobile price is bs but I just called today to see if I can get an early upgrade and the guy said he'll give me an instant $50 rebate with another $50 mail in rebate so final price will be $229 not bad I guess

If you guys still have your receipts to into the store you bought it from and they have to give you the money back for the price difference... (If you bought it within 30 days) .. I got like 33 bucks back.. Give it a try they have to do it.. I hear a lot of people getting the difference back

If your contract is up, call 611 & when prompted for input say "cancel". This should get you to the loyalty department, 'inform' them you are thinking of switching to AT&T because they offered you free Galaxy S3s if you did. They will definitely give you a better price than you can find anywhere as far as retailers are concerned. Please report your success story with us
My dad simply just called customer loyalty and said we were thinking of switching and what's the best they could do for us. So I ended up getting the 32gig white s3 for 240 and that includes shipping and all fees

Agreed! T-mobile has been losing contract customers in significant numbers to either pre-paid or other carriers. This above strategy used to work for me... until I found a family member that works there... That's what you really need!
Just to add to the info on what you should be able to easily get: my contract expired and I called to "verify" that it was. I also mentioned that I could get the same phone for $150 less with another carrier at the time. She immediately offered the phone for $229 (16gb) with a $150 bill credit to bring it down to $79. PLUS she gave me the $20 5gb data plan and a $10 monthly credit for 24 months! Also got free overnight shipping. Oh and I still get to send in for the $50 rebate!
Hope that helps give you an idea what to shoot for.

If you're off contract tmobile will do close to anything to keep you if you have been loyal (5+ years, no late payments)
For me I always jump on the latest and greatest so i'm constantly under contract, tmo still honors my loyalty and gives me great pricing along with monthly discounts.

Walmart deal coming up.

I just got off the phone with T-Mobile and the rep told me Walmart is cooking up a big promotion for the S3. I called to upgrade one of my lines and asked him if they can match or beat the WireflyFriends price and he said unfortunately no but Walmart is getting ready for a big S3 promotion. Fingers crossed that it beats the WireFly sale price.

dont know about wirefly but I bought mine from Costco for 179.99$
I don't know what the other sales are. But tmobile can beat em. Especially if your contract is about up.
Got mine for $79.99!
Ask for retentions, or at least customer loyalty. But retentions can do even better. Google tmobile retentions deals galaxy s3 for more info.
Sent from my SGH-T999 using xda app-developers app
Did you just tell the automated machine retention? I didn't know that I'll give it a try.
I did try that but still got customer loyalty. I loyaly offered me $279 for phone, $150 credit bringing it to $129. Also got. $20 5gb data plan and a $10 per month bill credit every month for 24 months. I told her I wasn't ready to pull the trigger yet and would call back. Asked her if she made notes on my acct for all she offered which she did.
Called back next day and this time made sure I got on with a retention specialist. They saw notes on my account so honored all the offers. I said I didn't think I could accept because it still meant I had to initially pay $279 which I couldn't afford to do. He did some looking at something and said he could bring it down to $229. I asked if I would still get the $150 credit which I did. I told him I still didn't have that much to spend initially and he said he could apply the cost to my next bill, so after credit I would only have to pay the $79 on my next bill!
Oh and I also got free overnight shipping!!!
Sent from my SGH-T999 using xda app-developers app
Wow, that's amazing. Been with them for almost ten years with multiple lines, hopefuy that helps me out. Thanx for the info, I will be glad paying 150. Guess I will give this tomorrow a try.
Good luck! Its definately worth trying.
I've been with them since the Voicestream days, over 10 or 11 years ago. That definately helps, especially if they think you are gona cancel.
The other thing is my contract had already expired which gives max leverage.

Would you bother?

I'm still in my return period at best buy and office Max has a 20% off any tablet.
Would you bother returning and rebuying the product? It seems I don't qualify for a price match unless I return it first which I thought was unnecessarily complicated.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk 4
Yes. At the very least, make them (best buy) jump through their own hoops, to give you the price match. You could always make a backup (with titanium, if you're rooted) and restore it on your new device. Using wugs toolkit, you can unroot and relock the bootloader for the return
That's what I did. I had to return and rebut, but she let me buy my own tablet back so no need to set up anything all over again. Did it all in one visit. Just have to make sure they price match before you return it.

Usually they just check unit functionality, but it's not that much harder to just return to the vendor and risk less headaches.
I did this yesterday... no problems.
Call your local BestBuy and explain to them what you are trying to do. The person I talked to just had to ask her manager. I just went to service desk, she scanned by receipt and the coupon, the manager came by to authorize it and the $54 dollars went back on the card I paid with. The whole thing took under 5 minutes. Definitely worth calling your local BestBuy and seeing if they will honor the coupon before it expires August 10th.

Just got back from best buy. I got the 32 gb tablet, and the cashier said it was quicker to just refund me the difference back than returning and rebuying,
Once I got out to the car, I looked at the receipt, and somehow the cashier figured 20% of $269 was $80!
So my 32 gb was $191, and I used $25 in reward zone coupons, bringing it down to $166! And THEN I earn back $10 in new reward zone coupons as well.
Glad I went in for this!

Just go to best buy for price match. I got a friend to buy it for me as it hasnot been released in the UK. So i asked for the same.
I called them from the UK and talked to the best buy. They told me they would match the price and I would need to bring original receipt and Office max coupon printed ( Its valid from 4th Aug to 10th Aug) and talk to the manager or Customer Service desk. If you bought it within that period , I guess you are good to go for a price match.

Depending on the discount they are going away.
I lost my corporate discount because I didn't want to bother filling the application to reapply again, (actually I thought that discount was going away but it wasn't?) still less expensive than other carriers, I have a great service at home and work and almost half of my bill is for phones anyway.
So if it is corporate discount you're talking about, maybe they changed the rate, otherwise I have no idea.
Yes it was a corporate discount that has continued from a previous employer.
But for some reason it got lowered to 8%.
Sent from my SM-N900T using Tapatalk
Most likely the agreement with your corporation and t mobile changed. You are actually lucky as apparently most corporation discounts have expired or gone away totally. I know the one I could have had is now gone, which is part of the reason I am still with ATT, but I will switch soon likely to t mobile anyways as I use all their phones with unlocked bootloaders. I just hope that continues....
