Anyone know when GN will be available for T-Mobile - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

Just curious , I'm so anxious to get this phone , would be nice to see a release date at least you know . The phone came out today at best buy and it kills me to see that it is exclusively for Verizon I was so sure that when this phone was going to come out that it would go to T-Mobile first

NS launched on T-Mobile, so it was the first carrier to fully have the NS.
It is rumored that Verizon has exclusivity rights to Galaxy Nexus within the states. Its exclusivity time is unknown.
Galaxy Nexus is a pretty amazing device overall. Been using it the past few days.

how long did it take other carriers to carry it?

All you gotta do is buy a GSM Galaxy Nexus. It's pentaband so it should work fine on T-Mobile networks.
But youre gonna pay.....a LOT.

It's a little cheaper on Newegg (and more reputable site): http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16875176322

Would like to know this also...

if you are savvy about searching this forum both expansys and negri have coupon codes that take it down to $690 & $685 respectively

Expansys & Negri are pretty reputable.
I got mines from Negri for using the promotion code "vzsucks" (might of had expired by now) but you can try. Ships out of Las Vegas, NV.
Expansys I believe ships out from Chicago, IL.
Newegg ships from: New Jersey, California, or Tenn. (Unsure which one it is for the GN)

Got mine from negri, and I am with T-Mobile. Its great a little expensive but well worth it in my opinion. Honestly, I got some sort of a twisted satisfaction knowing that I had it before Verizon assholes got it.. haha. I was upset that it went to Verizon.

Same here, I was like ughhhh! the phone isn't as cool because other people will have it now.
But matter fact, I still have the smiles knowing mines says "Google" instead of "Verizon 4G LTE" on it

Agreed. I went into a Verizon store the day after getting it like 2 weeks ago and pulled it out in front of them. They were amazed, I almost nut my pants.

Nobody has any indication whatsoever that this phone is coming to T-Mobile officially. Honestly considering that the VZW version just came out yesterday, i wouldn't be holding my breath on a T-Mo announcement any time soon.

Honestly just buy the GSM version! I just did and can't wait for it to arrive!

With the Verizon device already down to $150 with a new two-year contract through Amazon Wireless, wonder if that will have any impact on whether a cheaper US version of the GSM Galaxy Nexus gets sold here. Maybe the only option will be to buy an imported GSM device. How soon before the import cost comes down to somewhere less than $600? When the quad core phones come out in the spring?

Amazon Wireless (and similar outlets) are selling brand new phones for around 1/2 their carrier price all the time. They're not discounting because of low demand, it actually makes sense for them to sell at that price. They get new contracts and extra ETFs out of it. It has nothing to do with the price of the GSM version or the version coming to the USA. Verizon has a set exclusivity time, and that contract between VZW and Google isn't going to change based on price.
I don't know how long it'll take for the import price to come down under $600, but it'll definitely be a little while. I bet you'll see it in the low $600's, but under $600 is damn cheap.

just get one imported.. or do like i did and get one in your city. i'm using it on t-mobile and everything works great! 4G/3G with better service than any other phone i've had. Yes!

Verizon. Finally get some nexus love. Unsubsidized
I'm really hoping for an AT&T version. If there is no subsidized version, then I may buy the iPhone with my upgrade, sell it, and import a Nexus.

AT&T, assuming I decide to bite. Price is a bit steep at this point.
VZW off contract
Buying unlocked for use on T-mo assuming it comes to the USA directly. Not gonna pay to import.

I have one pre-ordered unlocked for AT&T
If this works out like my SGS2 did , I'll keep it till an iphone 5 comes out and never will I come back to android again.
VZW with an early upgrade. About time they got a Nexus phone.
Verizon off contract, that's assuming that they ever decide to release the phone and don't pull another Thunderbolt. Although maybe they should have waited longer on the Thunderbolt. Hoping this isn't a bad sign for the GN.

Galaxy Nexus passes FCC for AT&T

Hey guys, let me know if this isn't the right place for this, but it seems The GN has gotten the okay from the FCC to run on AT&T bands, 850 and 1900 I believe.
Do you guys think it will work for T-Mobile?
Id post a source but I cant, gonna have to ask you guys to google it haha
As with all other phones specifically for at&t only 2g will work for t-mobile as it needs 1700mhz for tmo3g.
Either way I saw this news earlier and still don't know what to make of it. I don't know if that means that at&t is interested or if it has something to do with Canada. It could even be just in case at&t becomes interested down the line who knows.

The unlocked GN is pentaband HSPA+, meaning 3G on AT&T and T-Mobile.
If there was a version for AT&T with 850/1900, it would only get 2G on T-Mobile.
This phone is probably the one that is gone be in Canada for 650.00 off contract. Does anybody know if this phone will have Tmobile 3G/4G bands?

No, the one going for sale in Canada was the one that passed the FCC 4 weeks ago, the i9250M. That is a Bell exclusive for 45 days. The i9250T, which just passed the FCC, is going to Rogers/Telus in Canada.
It makes no sense for them to release other models of this phone to att or T-Mobile because this supports them all. I am on T-Mobile USA and this phone gives me great speeds. Unless they make another one for att lte

Yea i see the crazy pricing, but if you really think about it, its not too far off from what the price will be here in the US when the GSM drops (assuming its 549-599$ + tax). For me its more about the hastle of having to deal with international shipments. I told myself i would never go that route to feed my addiction, but i really want this phone. Ive looked at Clove.co.uk, Expansys (or Expensive as i call it), Handtec. Im looking for the smoothest sale. I havent looked into Negri, but almost everyone i hear on these forums that has gone thru then had some issue, as well as going thru Handtec.
They aren't international. Negri is out of Vegas, and expansys USA is out of Illinois. They are the ones getting them internationally, you don't have to deal with that

Is the 1700MHz really gone or simply untested? Is it different hardware or are they simply inhibiting the 1700MHz with a different baseband firmware? And if so, can the 1700MHz be resurrected with a simple baseband swap? These carrier specific versions really are a PITA!

[Q] Should I wait for this to come to AT&T? (If ever)

Or should I just buy it at full price unlocked. I heard an "AT&T" version passed through the FCC but 1. Is that really an AT&T version? Some people said it may be some Canadian or Australian carrier. and 2. It may just never come out anyway. I'd just be pissed if I paid $750 then it comes to AT&T and I could've saved $500. You think there's actually a chance of it coming to AT&T (this decade)? What would you do in this situation?
It probably is coming to AT&T according to the latest FCC filings. http://www.techieinsider.com/news/12988

You should be able to get a better plan if you use a unlocked phone. At least I did with t-mobile.
FWIW I talked to some guys at a corporate location and they do not think AT&T will be picking up the Nexus.
They said they've haven't heard any rumors/rumblings internally of any kind about getting it and that they've never carried a Nexus before and don't see why this one would be any different.
:/ Just relaying about inquiring about it. I went ahead and got a intl. unlock myself.
AT&T stores never carried a Nexus phone, but customers could get a subsidized Nexus S for AT&T from Best Buy.
Just grab one an enjoy. Live a little.

If you have the money I'd just buy it outright. Especially if when it comes to AT&T you'll be buying it full price anyways. You won't be saving that much and you'll be able to have the phone now, which is worth something for sure.
I don't know about later on, but AT&T definitely isn't getting this phone before the end of the year. It's all Verizon right now. So even if you're sure its coming to AT&T (who knows?) you can still buy it now knowing you're getting it months earlier.

I mean I'd buy it subsidized off AT&T and it'd probably be like $300 at most. This is a really tough decision.
I ended up using my upgrade to get an HTC Vivid for $75 then sold it for $400 and just put the $325 profit toward the Nexus. I'd say just go for it. This phone is a beast.
buy it now. save your upgrade. dont sign a contract. in 6 months+ when something better comes out, cuz you know it will, you will still have your upgrade.

The FCC doesn't approve devices for Canada and Australia.
The device that passed doesn't have the 900 Mhz, which has been causing problems on the unlocked GSM phone.. So that's one reason to wait for it. Another is if it does in fact come officially to AT&T, the price will drop significantly. Also, buying devices on the grey market is not for the faint of heart, I've got a Nexus S with the search button bug and Negri/Samsung/Google don't care because they don't have to.
In all likelihood you will see a late January/early February release of this phone and smart money is waiting
I'm on at&t as well and am waiting for one of 2 things. Either for it to come to at&t directly or for a significant price drop. I don't have a problem picking up the international version because when you turn around and sell it you'll likely get more since it can be used on any gsm carrier. The one major thing i'm waiting to find out though is if there are any plans to release a 32gb gsm version.
I didn't want to wait for the "next" big phone, so I just found the most expensive/free phone on at&t, used my upgrade to get it, then sold the phone on ebay...I picked up the HTC Titan for free at Best Buy on Cyber Monday, sold it for ~$500 and now have the Nexus Galaxy for cool $250 (what it would probably cost if it ever came to at&t).
...additionally I am selling my Nexus S and hoping to get a couple hundred and making the NG almost free.
Anyways, if you have an upgrade and don't mind the contract, just get the best deal on a phone you can sell...it's the only way I could have ever afforded my original N1, my i9020A NS and now GS.

You're actually wrong. The FCC checks all devices that could be used in the US. i9000t https://fjallfoss.fcc.gov/eas/GetApplicationAttachment.html?id=1303821
i9100t http://pocketnow.com/android/samsung-galaxy-s-ii-passes-fcc-muster
i9250m https://fjallfoss.fcc.gov/eas/GetApplicationAttachment.html?id=1586317
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=19919999
19000T and i9100T went to Telus/Rogers in Canada and the i9250m went to Bell Canada. i9250m was the first GSN to pass the FCC and it's on sale this week exclusively from Virgin Mobile/Bell Canada.
I thought the same for rogers... paid way too much for mine. Couldn't care less... best purchase of 2011 for me personally.

The FCC reviews any device that could be used in the US.
Also, the volume "bug" is tied to 900mhz, but even if your device has the 900mhz frequency enabled in the hardware, it has nothing to do with whether or not you'll experience the bug. The problem arises when you actually use 900mhz. So even those of you who imported a GN to the US have 900mhz hardware, you're never going to use it on AT&T (850mhz) or T-mobile (1800).
I'm on AT&T and my Galaxy Nexus just arrived at my house from Expansys today.
I'm glad I went ahead and got it though it was well worth it now that I have it in my hands.

whats the deal with t-mobile not saying a word about the new galaxy nexus

It absolutely blows my mind every day that goes by and we dont hear anything about the hspa+ galaxy nexus being offered from tmo.
with the popularity of the nexus one and nexus s I find it soo hard to believe that the only way us tmo users can get one is to spend $700+ by shipping one overseas.
plus knowing that most reviewers recieved a galaxy nexus with a tmo simcard in it, the [email protected] review phones came with a tmo simcard. and tmo hasnt said one freaking word about it.
I have my money for it waiting but my patience is slipping away. bought a galaxy s 2 from tmo and loved it but got down to the last day of the 14 day return period and got spooked cause some speculation hit the news about the galaxy nexus hitting our shores. but that didnt happen so im fighting the urge to call one of the craigsL sellers and pick up another new galaxy s 2 for $380. just so disgested everytime i load up the tmonews site and nothing has been whispered about tmo dropped a rumered release date.
anyone else here feel this way?
was thinking the same thing, but i just ordered over the weekend.
i'm not going to wait for tmobile to carry it.
at least with the penta band, if att does indeed acquire tmobile, i'll be good to go.
I felt that way, then I just bought one. Verizon locked exclusivity for 60 days or so and it is only $50 more to buy it overseas than from T-Mobile outright. (If the phone is priced like Verizon's version)
The only downside is that nobody has screen protectors in my locality yet. The T-mobile reps sure loved seeing the phone though.

I wonder when Verizon's exclusivity clause ends for the GN?
I'm just guessing here, but with an exclusivity, I would think the other carriers are not allowed to go bragging that they'll have it in XX days.
Or maybe they aren't going to carry it at all. I've been with TMO for a while, and I get the feeling that they just dont give a **** anymore

i'll still be able to use their network even though i won't get LTE speeds.
i don't expect to get onto the LTE train for a while anways.
i don't need crazy fast speeds...

Just order the Zagg for it. www.zagg.com
T mobile won't advertise as it only benefits Verizon for now.
Shouldn't matter that much on T-Mobile anyway since you are given the option of not paying for a phone subsidy. So the only premium you end up paying is for importing it. If you're not on a value/even more plus plan, switch and just buy the phone.

Not really, even if T-Mobile is acquired by ATT, which it won't, ATT will keep the T-Mobile cell towers running, these towers are very expensive. I don't think current T-mobile users with 1700mhz ban phone will lose their HSPA over night in that scenario. Besides ATT have 3G and LTE plans, Nexus users can still use the 3G plan. I personally don't think its detrimental in the case you can't stream HD video of Justin Bebier at 20mbps with your Nexus, while 6mbps could get you by. Either way you are getting your chains yanked since you don't save any money opting for the slower 3G speed from their data plan.

I feel for them. By the time they can finally upgrade phone after 3 years, their devices would be obsolete and the operating system in their phone would be two version behind.
Are Canada galaxy nexus pentaband also?

Bye Bye Verizon Galaxy Nexus hello T-Mobile Samsung s2

Titles says it all Ive had lots of fun in this forum for cmda nexus...But after problem with problem through tech support and no 4g coverage,After fighting for months Verizon finally let me loose without termination fees...I went to T-mobile and got the Samsung galaxy s2...everyone i met on here rocks and thank you for all the support with this community..Ive learned so much from speaking with you all and researching the threads...ill still be here but in different thread..so far i cannot believe the speed packed into this phone it amazes me..
Good luck with new phone. If its the exynos version ive no doubt its fast, just cant go back to low rez screens.
Just post in here anyway
I've owned the T-Mobile gs2 and its not a bad phone. As fast as the nexus and I miss my 20mbps/second download speed. Good phonen enjoy!

T-Mo GS2 does not have an exynos processor. They are not compatible with LTE yet.
Yeah, the only problem I would have with T-mobile is they abandon Android support (updates) very quickly with their Samsung phones.
Samsung Galaxy S Vibrant (released July 15 2010). Abandoned software update right after long delay even released 2.2 in late Jan 2011. So you are talking about a 6 month window of actual software update support.
And the Galaxy S Vibrant was considered a flagship phone with T-mobile.
Behold 2....enough said.
Sure, you can install your own roms etc. But that's not the point. It's on T-mobile and Samsung to support their Android phones.
While the S2 on T-mobile has the Qualcomm process and it's fast enough. The real reason to get it is because it supports ATT 3G bands in addition to Tmobile's AWS bands.
Other than that, enjoy the S2 on T-mobile. Maybe you should have waited till tomorrow (Feb 11th) when T-mobile has the S2 for free (with mail in rebate) on 2 year contract.
The next US president will be relected/elected by the time you see an official ice cream sandwich update on the tmobile branded S2.
Sorry it didn't work out for you. Good luck with your new phone!

Thats what i was thinking. SGS2 is a good phone but its sort of equal to the support of the CDMA nexus. Devs are leaving or getting kicked out left and right. Been back and forth between the SGS2 and the Nexus in the past 2 months. Think im gonna just stay with the Nexus. Good luck with your new phone. Enjoy.

I am very happy with the GSM version. If I were you, I would have got the GSM GN. I cannot stand the low resolution anymore.

Seriously. Sounds like OP's issues were with Verizon, not the GNex. Can get an unlocked one for a solid price nowadays.
The SGSII is great but the screen res is getting pretty damn low to be buying one in February 2012.

Pretty easily can just be unlocked version on T-Mobile... Wouldn't read too much into that one.

Before switching to AT&T over the image compression issue, my GSM Galaxy Nexus worked wonderfully on T-Mobile's network.
Except for, you know, all of the JPEGs on the internet being compressed so badly they looked like amorphous blobs of color banding and compression artifacts.
Which is why I switched, since now I'm paying $30 more per month... but to be honest, I'll happily pay $30 more a month to not have my internet connection screwed with.
I would love to get an unlocked GSM Galaxy Nexus, but I can't find one for a decent price.
What is the going rate for this phone right now? Where can I get the best price?

Amazon has the best price around I've seen for an unlocked GSM version.
Negri has the best price and offers warranty up to one year. Amazon doesn't offer warranty, depending on the seller's.

$595.50 shipped from Negri Electronics. https://negrielectronics.com/catalogsearch/result/?q=i9250&x=0&y=0&order=relevance&dir=desc
You can get the Canadian version which isn't yakju, but you can flash to yakju in about 5min. Or you can order the $622.50 one and have a higher chance it comes with yakju (wouldn't waste my time with that).

This! Don't trust some random Amazon seller, when you can go with a reputable US importer that offers warranty help. You can even checkout with Amazon or Google to get buyer protection.
$600 is still too rich for my blood. The problem is that this phone is a want and not a need :-/
I am off-contract with T-mobile paying ~$70 a month using a Vibrant running Bionix 1.3.1
I'm a little upset about how Google/Samsung f-ed up the release of this device (exclusivity with Verizon and no viable method other than importing for a UMTS version).
It is difficult to understand how a kickback from Verizon makes up for their lost sales with other carriers.
Galaxy S II's are available in the low 400's. I understand that the Galaxy Nexus is a little nicer, but I could justify a ~$400 purchase by selling my old Vibrant.

It does suck, but even if it was sold directly by T-Mobile or Best Buy or whomever, the cheapest it'd be retail is probably $529 + tax. So you're almost to $600 there anyways. Since you're off contract you're buying full price either way. If you really want the phone then buy it. Only you know how much $$ its worth to you though.
If you choose to buy a SGSII for $400 ish, then you're just guaranteeing you're upgrading to your next device sooner than if you bought the Galaxy Nexus because the SGSII is older. You're just paying now or paying later. Again, personal choice.
What Google should of done was do their Verizon thing but also offer the Galaxy Nexus (GSM Unlocked) via their website kind of like how the Nexus One did it (minus a CDMA version of Nexus One).
