Check out Chainfire's thread. He posted a no-wipe version flashable through Odin. Follow the instructions there and make sure you download the correct version for your phone (GSM/LTE)!

If you want fresh clean stock then you can do two things:
1) on linux, extract the contents of the tgz package and use the sh script inside to flash.
2) since that's not possible on windows, you could use Chainfire's odin files first and next manually flash the bootloader and/or radioimage with fastboot. You can extract the bootloader and radio yourself from the tgz/tar package or look for them in the development section, someone posted them there.

You can flash it in windows using fastboot, you don't need to use odin for anything:
Extract the factory images
fastboot flash bootloader bootloader-maguro-primekk15.img
fastboot flash radio radio-maguro-i9250xxkk6.img
fastboot reboot-bootloader
fastboot update image-yakju-icl53f.zip

Thanks everyone...will give it a go.....Cheers

Thanks. Just checking, if I would like to do this, but without a wipe, can't i just flash the bootloader and radio like you suggested, and then use Odin to flash Chainfire's no-wipe version right? Just so i fully understand, thanks!

What I posted does not wipe. There's little reason to use Odin. Using Odin you *can* easily brick your device (Ask all of the folks in the Nexus S forums that used Odin to flash the wrong package for their device).
fastboot update image-yakju-icl53f.zip <-- This does not wipe
fastboot -w update image-yakju-icl53f.zip <-- This wipes (-w wipes)

Issues Updating OS Versions

Hello all, I am still fairly new to the root/Android scene and I've run into a problem.
Firstly, my Nexus' bootloader is unlocked and I'm running and older Franco.Kernel (4.0.1 and 1.4GHZ OC). Now, the problem is, my phone has notified me that a newer OS version is available. When I go to install it, the phone reboots but right after - the little Droid appears with a red caution sign and the phone stays that way until the battery is pulled.
What am I missing here? Any help is greatly appreciated.
P.S. I'm a n00b.
Try relocking bootloader then installing update. And then unlock again.

In order to properly take an OTA and have it install you're going to have to be on the stock ROM, recovery, radios, everything. You can be unlocked and rooted, but you can't have changed anything else. Because you've flashed another kernel, you're probably going to have to flash the update manually.

I'd pass that question to someone more knowledgeable than I on the subject. I wouldn't wanna give you improper guidance. Not sure how your custom kernel comes in to play when flashing.
All I know is you won't be able to take the regular OTA in your current state.
Here is your info on how to get back to stock.

That is overkill. Just go here: http://code.google.com/android/nexus/images.html and download the version of Android you are using. Extract the boot.img file from within, and flash that with fastboot. Now you are back to the stock kernel, and the update will install automatically (assuming of course that you did not make other changes).
EDIT: You will not lose root, your bootloader will still be unlocked, and all of your data/settings will still be there.

Thank you so much!
I know I may seem a tad annoying, but I just don't want to mess up my phone, lol!
How do I go about installing this?
I DL Fastboot & it's drivers. Extract the IMG (just so you know, I'm currently yakjuxx, not yakju - does that matter?) to the same directory as Fastboot then enter my phone into Fastboot mode. The thing is, I'm unfamiliar with the command prompts to get it going. I'll be doing it on Windows 7. Help would be appreciated!.
I know I've asked a lot, and I thank you.

I'm not sure it matters if you are yakju or yakjuux (as I think all the stock GSM kernels for ITFL41F are the same), but just to be sure, go here and download my nandroid back up of yakjuux ITL41F. In the archive, you will find a boot.img file (which is the file you need). Extract it.
All you have to do it put the boot.img file in the same directory as your fastboot.exe file, reboot your device into fastboot mode, and plug it into your PC. Open a command prompt in that directory and type fastboot devices to make sure you PC recognizes your device. Then type fastboot flash boot boot.img
Done.
Now, obviously this assumes that you already have the drivers set up properly...

The "fastboot flash" command is specifically for flashing full images to partitions on the device, e.g., system, userdata, boot, recovery, bootloader, radio, splash1, etc.

Is it possible for self extracting ics 4.0.4 custom rom rooted with cwm recovery?

Lg nitro stuck with leaked ics 4.0.3 rooted. can not get official v20c rooted 4.0.4
have tried unbricking-but unable to get lg mobile support tool to open any longer after installing shttp server- can only run the self extracting ics leak 4.0.3 & then root. tried before.bat, flash v20c, then after-KDZ-flashed.bat will not run. just flashes command screen for a second then closes

You must downgrade using the method laid out in the unbricking guide in order to use CWM.
Yeah, the unbrick method is the only way. It sucks doing it... but once you do it a few times you don't even need the instructions anymore...lol I know from experience

If you have Fastboot installed, it is just a matter of flashing the correct recover.img file. Which can be done while in Fastboot mode.

Twrp won't have the decryption keys or some of the HTC specific functions required to apply the OTA. You'll need a stock /system and a stock recovery.

Would this explain the error that I'm getting?
Package expects build fingerprint of htc/tmous/htc_m8:4.4.4/KTU84P/396641.2:user/release-keys or htc/tmous/htc_m8:5.0.1/htc_m8: 5.0.1/LRX22C/464190.4:user/release-keys.; this device has htc/tmous/htc_m8:4.4.3/KTU84L/365360.5/user/release-keys.
I flashed stock recovery, but my phone is still root. Did a full wipe/restore, still getting same thing. The error looks like it's not happy about a missing update perhaps, if I'm reading that correctly. Best I know, I have the latest kitkat version. But, I've had twrp for awhile so maybe I missed an OTA update along the way.

- Flash firmware via fastboot
- Flash twrp via fastboot
- Flash Lollipop via twpr

For me (I am s-on) I did it in this order:
- flashed twrp stock rom
- rebooted and made sure the rom worked
- flashed stock recovery via fastboot
- rebooted and downloaded and installed OTA.
If you are s-off I believe (someone correct me if I am wrong) you can use the RUU instead.
I did have a wifi issue which was solved by a factory wipe ( yes I had to re-install and setup the phone again).

Is there any way to reverse this dreadful update and restore it to how it was?

Thanks very much Robin. Is that the cyanogen/android version prior to this latest OTA update? I'm looking for the official cyanogen, not cyanogenmod.
Do you know if I need to root my phone to be able to install it? Presumably I'd lose all my data?

No its a signed Zip so should install on a stock ROM but be careful if you are downgrading the bootloader as that has been known to brick phones.
As far as I know the swift won't be bricked by this. But if you are worried I would use the fastboot zip and use a script to make sure everything is wiped first.

You don't need a custom recovery that is the whole point of it being a signed zip
unzip first?

if you can find the 12.1 fastboot zip you can revert back to factory reset stock by fastboot flashing:
Code:
fastboot flash splash splash.img
fastboot flash modem NON-HLOS.bin
fastboot flash aboot emmc_appsboot.mbn
fastboot flash hyp hyp.mbn
fastboot flash rpm rpm.mbn
fastboot flash sbl1 sbl1.mbn
fastboot flash tz tz.mbn
and
fastboot flash boot boot.img
fastboot flash cache cache.img
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
fastboot flash userdata userdata.img
fastboot flash system system.img
PM me if you cannot find cm-12.1-YOG7DAS2FI-crackling-signed-fastboot-07863145a7.zip
Hi, could you please confirm if this worked? I'm on a completely stock Swift with OTA to Cyanogen OS13. I'm finding the battery life disappointing so want to try downgrading to 12.1

Question about flashing image with fastboot

I'm going to be exchanging my pixel and getting another one. Just curious so I know for the future.. if I flash the full factory image via fastboot does that relock the bootloader? I'm gonna guess that it doesn't but just wanna make sure.
New to adb and fastboot so I've been reading around like crazy trying to learn. Is the only way to lock again to use the actual lock command in fastboot?
Edit: I'm referring to using the flash-all.bat script
Yes, you will have to re-lock the bootloader. Do it with fastboot in the bootloader.
Although, you don't have to re-lock the bootloader before sending your phone back... Especially since it will have the stock image flashed to it.

No. Flashing the factory image does not relock the bootloader. After you have successfully rebooted, return to the bootloader and use the command: fastboot oem lock

Sorry, I know this has been asked but I've been searching for days and can't find it. Trying to flash latest factory image for 7.1.1 on pixel xl without losing data and can not find a guide to do so. Any help is appreciated

Right click the flash-all script, and choose edit (or something like that) from the drop down menu. In the last line where it says "fastboot -w update..." delete the "-w". Then just use this flash-all.

I'm sorry I was looking for the full guide on flashing the factory image with -w removed. But you did answer how to remove the -w so thank you ...is there a link to a guide with the correct commands to use?

Correct. Let me ask you, do you have any modifications to your Pixel? Root, TWRP, custom kernel? If not, you'd be better off with ADB sideload.

I have root and that's it. So if I'm understanding correctly, I would put the factory image zip in the platform tools folder and extract it there, open a command window from that folder and run this command fastboot flash-all
Is that correct?

You're on Windows?
Command > fastboot flash-all.bat
Make sure you remove the "-w" first

Yes I am on Windows. So as long as I do as I stated I will retain data and 7.1.1 will be installed. After boot I can reroot with sr4?

In fact, on Windows I think you can just double click the flash-all.bat file (I'm on Linux, so I'm not 100% positive). Yes to your other questions. As long as nothing goes wrong.

Nope. Your fastboot may be out of date. I'd suggest updating your Android SDK.

I updated sdk this morning...not sure why it hung there but everything went through and pixel is now booting. Finishing android update is in progress and seems data was retained. Thank you very much for all your help! Just in time too, Dr just decided to induce my wife's labor and my son will be here today!!
