****Pay attention to the install procedure****
Reason for ROM
All tweaked out, and virtually unlimited space thanks to siberes DATA2SD made for Desire roms. ZRAM by Dorimanx and Kernel 2.8 by Dorimanx. Dungphp's sense 3 rom is the best sense rom in town and then i came along and made it even better

- 512 IO Cache
-You can change the above with system tuner set at boot with init.d
Tweaked Ram Management
- Latest Legendary Dorimanx's ZRAM Script
- Automatically mounts mmcblk0p3 for sd-based swap
Stripped Sense 3, just the awesome Sense UI
- Sense 3 Stripped of all useless HTC stock apps + libs (Basically Everything)

- Launcher Pro is Default, There is no Rosie (Doesn't work after stripping HTC Apps) Install any launcher you prefer
All of Dungphp's rom features...
Working:
- Phone, Sound, Camera, Camcorder, GPS, Data, Wifi, bluetooth ...
- Mount, USB Disk, Gallery, 720p videos, Flash with video, sound streaming ...
Bugs:
- Graphical Glitches - Dont try to fix it, aint as bad as anyone thinks... you can live with it ! - or try and flash a .35 kernel, but performance goes down... is it worth it ?
- Sense Customization settings closes without launching the customization app
INSTALL PROCEDURE
MAGLDR partition sizes - Use Last 24mb NAND - 5/330/10
Install the rom as normal with CWM
Reboot and wait for the rom to finish first boot and complete the HTC wizard, wait a couple of minutes at the launcherpro desktop, you may config wifi and some settings but DO NOT add any accounts to accounts and sync.
Reboot
Flash the Data2SD in CWM
Reboot
Install Superuser from the market
I had to strip "everything" I could to get this rom to boot with enough NAND data space to function before rebooting again to install data2sd. I had 22mb data space left on my first boot.
Enjoy
Download - You Need Both

Download the Data2SD

Fix the "Customize" in settings. One of the HTC Apps was responsible for that
Maybe a Sense 3.5 release but there isn't much difference between 3 and 3.5 for the purposes of this ROM, also I could not shrink a sense 3.5 rom enough for first boot so..
A. I need time to experiment with more stripping ideas
B. Learn how to integrate Siberes Data2SD
C. Figure out why removing the A2SD+ from the sense 3.5 runny roms released here completely breaks them.

seems a great rom be cooked!
kill the rosie.apk and take out the htc screen is a good idea to make the speed up for performance , i did that for my test build ... it's fast and faster.

when i opened the thread i also nervous and especially
that is my first thread.
but be relaxed, i think this will be a stable and cool rom!

tank's bro,downloading now

Cool, you would be the first person other than me to use this rom
let me know how it goes asap, i want to be sure 330m system works, 315 worked for me but as you can see i have under 5mb left.
After you flash go to advanced and report errors, mount sdcard and check the cwm log and make sure all the minzips worked, to ensure you didint run out of system partition space.
And remember to enable use last 24 nand in magldr under services.

Graphic glitches...You're wrong. I can't live with that.

So your thinking this could be fixed in a .32 kernel if someone could figure out why the .35 kernel fixes it by finding the missing part ?
I am simply hoping soon Dorimanx might dev a .35 kernel with his performance modifications, I think he just needs time.
Just an update on this rom, the latest zram script by Dorimanx is clashing with this roms oom settings, I am going to work on tweaking it. I will post an updated zram script for this ROM once I am satisfied with the settings.
-Update
2nd post has CWM flash zip with a better zram script.
Dorimanx Kernel 2.8 had a Bluetooth Bug, attached to 2nd post is updated 2.9 kernel.

can't test now, but thanks anyway for a new sense work for Hd2!
I suggest to update kernel to 2.9 in order to fix bt bug
I will test this rom next week

yes, that is what i want to say, I think that should has possible be fix. but if someday DM decide to coding .35 ... well, I thought we put it away temporary and try our best for cooking rom first, and if possible then we could try to fix and coding kernel together. because kernel builder not to many but have lot of chefs, so i thought maybe we should join to kernel part to find out the bugs.

It's a good idea but atleast for me I know nothing of kernels, I can't even figure out how to compile a kernel lol, I have tried.
I will ask dorimanx if he is willing to assist in this tho, I will offer him my full support to test.

If anyone has any sod issues just let me know il make an update to stop loading sd based swap. Usually sd swap is the reason for it.

[ROM][Vanilla 2.1] VanillaEclair 3.3 "ET, phone home!"

THIS IS OBSOLTE! VISIT THE NEW THREAD: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=704974
PS: MODS, PLEASE CLOSE THIS. THANKS.
Hi guys! After hours and hours of work and hundreds of compiled kernels, VanillaEclair 3.3 is finally ready. Please read this post carefully, and enjoy!
First, I would like to thank Cyanogen for his 5.0.7, behnaam for the 2.6.29 kernel sources and all the users who have been testing all the Release Candidates. This wouldn't have been possible without you.
What has been done to the kernel:
- tweaked scheduler;
- tweaked internal task killer;
- pre-overclock @691/176(default kernel), using the ONDEMAND CPU governor
- improved RAM management and usage
- improved overall CPU speed - you can't take anything more out of it
... all of these result to:
- amazing battery life
- great overall performance
Features:
- all hardware working
- GPS, AGPS
- GPRS/EDGE/3G/HSDPA aka full 2G/3G support
- photos, videos
- phone calls
- messaging
- auto-brightness
- LEDs (except trackball led)
- trackball
- facebook sync, google sync, twitter sync etc.
- Youtube HD
- accelerometer
- rooted
- A2SD using Cyanogen's method -> all your apps & Dalvik-Cache go to SDCard if you enable the option in settings
- Bluetooth file transfer, bluetooth music(no A2DP yet)
- busybox
- compcache using heyodee's script
... and much more!
What doesn't work:
- A2DP aka Bluetooth audio in calls
- trackball led
FAQ/Readme:
How can I enable Apps2SD?
To enable Apps2SD you have to go to Settings > Applications and check Apps2SD option. You also need an EXT2/3 partition on your SDCard.
I flashed this ROM and now when I want to do a Nandroid backup I get an error. What should I do?
This happens because of the new A2SD method. Please do a BART backup, but be careful: you can only have a BART backup on your SDCard at a time.
I flashed this ROM and I got stuck with the HERO screen for a while.
Please flash the LoKernel or the Freekernel. It should fix your issue.
When the phone wakes up sometimes I get some bad graphics and the lockscreen is upside down.
This thing is rare, but, if you get it, either flash the Lokernel or Freekernel, either live with it
What's next?
Well, unfortunately I won't be able to work on this ROM until the 5th of July. I hope that when I get back from my vacation I can fix A2DP and trackball LED and make this even better.
I don't like vanilla. What should I do?
How can you not like vanilla?! But if you're one of the guys, I suggest you try my other ROM - ChocolateEclair - which is a Sense ROM and users say it's pretty good
DOWNLOADS:
VanillaEclair 3.3 NAS @ 691/176
This is the vanilla ROM with the default [email protected]/176. If something is wrong or you want to see what other kernels can do, you may flash one of these on top of it:
VanillaEclair 3.3 lokernel @576/245
This kernel is recommended for those who have issues with waking up or cannot boot with the default kernel.
VanillaEclair 3.3 freekernel @518/245
The Freekernel is coming at the default HTC speeds, but you have 17 frequencies available in the table to overclock it as you wish with OverclockingWidget or SetCPU. This is slower than the default kernel because of the unoptimized speed jumps.
VanillaEclair 3.3 extremekernel @768/176
This is for the lucky ones which have a Hero that can work properly @768. But it's not only the 48% overclock. You also have a much improved scheduler and an aggressive internal task killer, that will start killing apps when you have 35MB RAM memory free.
VanillaEclair 3.3 ExperimentalKernel @691/176
Flash this at your own risk!
This is the experimental kernel, which has one nice feature: NTFS support. You can replace that FAT parition on your SDCard with a NTFS one, in case you want to. It also has a very aggressive internal task killer(starts killing @35MB RAM free), some aggressive CPU settings and some experimental settings @scheduler. This might be the future though!
VanillaEclair 3.3 Default kernel
Flash this if you tried one of the other kernels and you want to move back to the default one.
Do you like it? Buy me a Coke if you can.

what about jit? use the one from RC4?
Great RaduG !! downloading !!!!
Awesome! Will install later today for sure!
Wired tether fixed in this kernel?
@kosmiq
It should work mate, I completely forgot to test it. Anyway, all the kernels are USB Tethering enabled.
hello RaduG
i must say that you have a supergood ROM.
Been with it since RC3 and i love the vanillaflavour!!
Thankyou very much. stuff like this makes the HTC Hero to more than just an awesome phone!
Excellent thanks! Flashing now!
Downloading and trying, But somehow I prefer your Chocolate Eclair ROM, Actually I like Sense
downloaded and will flash later... thanks again RaduG!

We will probably have to wait till heyodee drops his 5 cents here and releases the script to enable it, as aparently they have to be customized for each release.
So, wiping dalvik is all I need to do if I come from RC4?
Yes mate. That's pretty much all.
I did just wipe Dalvik and everything works great. It is a pity that so long there will be no updates, but the holidays have to be. So have fun ;-)
That's one of the reasons why I chose to work on this release a few more days, to make it as stable as possible so that you won't need another ROM for a while If you don't need A2DP, it's perfectly fine. But if you do, Chocolate Eclair is waiting for your Hero
Awesome work, thank you, just out of interest, will the trackball led ever work?

Out of pure curiosity, what did you do different this time after the help from DarchStar? Was it not in the kernel but elsewhere?

No mate, it was a damn firmware file. I've opened a topic about that so that all AOSP roms can have A2DP working from now on. I've explained the issue there.
Radu, you're a genius... can't wait to test this
Great! A2DP works perfect with my headset, and it should work with any headset available.
Note: I've included a proper compcache script(heyodee) and fixed the camera app.

[July 19th 2011][CWM]TMOUS-CM7-DATA2SD GRJ22/2.3.4 [K:tytung_r10]

This is my first post in this forum and I hope this works as well for you as it has for me.
First and foremost: I am not a developer; just an advanced user that has spent many many many hours in these forums and has used the tools I have found to make my deice the best it can possibly be. I TAKE NO RESPONSIBILITY FOR ANY DAMAGE DONE TO YOUR DEVICE BY USING THE SCRIPTS PROVIDED. I did not create these scripts and for the life of me cannot remember which forum or developer(s) I got them from; I am sorry that I cannot give the proper credit.
I have been using this DATA2SD method for about a month with several different ROMs and have found it to be very fast and very stable (only one crash in 2 weeks using Hyperdroid 2.1, not sure what caused it).
I am currently using the latest Hyperdroid CM7 (big Thanx to Pongster for a fantastic build!), albeit a version cooked using dsixda's kitchen to include my favorite apps and a few other changes. I have also used these scripts with the AOSP MIUI 1.6.24 and up ROMs (my NAND configuration has not changed between the two [MIUI and CM7], not sure if the large cache size helps or not). I have only used this process successfully with these two builds and cannot attest to the compatibility or stability if used with any other firmware.
I am using a 200MB system partition with 45mb for cache with Clockwork Recovery 4 (partitioned and updated using the HD2 toolkit). My SD card is using EXT3 set at 1024MB. Once again, this is the only configuration I have used successfully.
**BUG**
The only bug I have noticed so far is that whenever the device is rebooted CM7's Theme Manager reverts to the default (system) theme.
Instructions are included in the download. The scores shown were attained running Hyperdroid CM7 with the governor set to performance at 1152mhz (the highest stable overclock speed for my device using an 2.3.4 based ROM). The scores are provided by Quadrant Advanced (of course) and Device Mark.
nice but why is it only for tmous ?

It should work as well as it works on the tmous version because it doesn't use that much place that requires a tmous. You can't to anything wrong
If u try it I would say please report back so that the dev know if it works there too

I included instructions with the download; these are scripts that are flashable visa clockwork recovery and should work with your device. Compatibility issues usually come into to play with the ROM that is used; it must support scripts (I think the proper term is init.d scripts). Usually Rom s that already have Apps2sd support this but i have only used this process successfully ( stable) with the AOSP MIUI and Hyperdroid ROMs

or

or is another approach?
I don't believe so; i believe the process outlined in that post (i could be wrong) uses a data image similar to the one Rafpigna uses in Rafdroid or in Acura MIUI which is stored on the root of the sd card. This script uses ext 3 for the storage. I could be wrong, this is my first time seeing that post.

btw with hyperdroid cm7 v2.1 with tytung at 1190mhz and you trick i'm only able to reach """only""" 2500 point in quadrant, and 3d graphic is corrupted (some 3d bench are black). it's possible to update graphic driver with an update.zip in recovery?
what rom are you using to reach 3000 points?

I am running Hyperdroid cm7 2.1 at 1152MHz ( the highest stake clock speed for my device). Have you tried setting the governor to performance in cyanogenmod settings? Chainfire 3d lets you update the driver of the device but this program is meant to make the rendering of complex 3d graphics easier for older devices (at least that's my understanding). I am using this program but I did not apply the effects to quadrant ( or any other app). The high scores database read/ write speed.

yes when i play games or do some bench, i set performance and min and max at 1190mhz it's possible to go higher than 1190mhz with tytung r10? (limit is written on the kernel or somewhere in system params?)
i tryed to install chainfire drivers but i still got black screen on 3d tests
3d tests on newer gb cm7 are working ok, so i'm asking if there is an update.zip flashable in recovery to update driver in this pongster's hyperdroid cm7 rom

I tried once to substitute Raf's kernel for tytungs using dsixda's kitchen with a gingerbread Rom and it wouldn't boot. I don't know enough about kernels to change the processor values and I don't know if a flashable update for the drivers for this Rom.

Looks like a nice script! Questions:
1) Is it necessary to use the same partition sizes as you for it to work?
2) Once Data2SD is implemented, can you restore data partition to SD using advanced restore in CWM?
So does this script really make the rom faster and more stable than it already is? Like for example dorimaxes rom?

Thank you...
1) The short answer is; I don't know. I have used this partition setup with several ROMs and just decided to try it with the scripts. I am using this ad my daily driver and have been for about a month with only one crash, so Idon't want to start experimenting with the setup just incase ( Hyperdroid is a very stable Rom to begin with).
2) The script itself is not apart of the backup so you would have to follow the installation procedure after the restore.

[29 Aug][KERNEL]-{---------JW_tytung_S2.1----------------}

Kernel based on tytungs r11 (all credits to him) see changelog for improvements
Differences:
-Removed reiser fs and btrfs filesystems useless for most users.
-No default USB tether.
-No need for custom vold(usb notifcations)
-Fixes
For the rest all the same features.
I will continue to add changes. But to add more changes I need user feedback first of the latest kernel. Plan is to update the kernel every 1-7 days. And keep or remove commits based on user feedback.
Attachment is for Magldr flash in cwm.
For clk extract package and use fastboot commands.
Gitorious source
Updated by my friend joplayer. The kernel building etc is done by me.
Credits
Alle kernel devs

Donations:
I would like to sugest to donate to markinus he did a lot of work on hd2 kernel. And he is a bit forgotten somehow. For the rest of course you can also donate to the famous guy cotulla and the smart guy tytung.

Added experimental:
-Kernel without extra I think unused network stuff. Needs testing

See the attachments below
It is really important that you give feedback.
Please not the to general hd2 kernel bugs. This kernel is created with the intension to improve speed and stability. Not to fix the biggest hd2 kernel bugs the reason for this is simply lack of skill.
Woke..we was waiting for this..thx JW..I will try it now ..place release your miui 1.8.19 with it

No he didnt handed them over to me. I keeped tytungs name for the kernel just as respect for him since my work is very minimal. Thanks for the suggestions I will use them in the next release my plan is just to spend more time to improve the kernel by using general android kernel and cm fixes.
And about wifi calling the module and kernel support is included apart from reiser fs and btrfs you should have everything what tytungs kernel has.
ok
oh yeah, hastarin's name should be there since Markinus branch was modded by Hastarin, then Tytung modded Hastarins final 8.6 kernel ( back in the SD build days)
no idea where Hastarin is nowadays though..
great...but I dfound out that tytungs kernel 11 has some serious mobile network connection issues....almost everytime the device turns the screen off and enters sleep state, connection is lost, after waking up, I need to enter PIN to start radio again...maybe you could fix that too
(I am on clk)
nice work m8!
I would love to have a variant of the tytung's kernel for the GB Sense builds with working BT Headset.
Also the OC limit could be pushed further than 1190mhz.
tested on Hyperdroid CM7 Honeybadger (2.3.4) and originally from Tytung r10
WIFI works
3G works , for now until I get to test that complaint regarding timeout during screenoff
Default Smartass will test battery drain and performance across next 24 hours
screen delay was fixed on mine, its so fast that if u keep pressing it , the screen blinks only for a bit
thanks mate

-Keep in mind that battery might need to settle (maybe need to clean battery stats) that is always a bit different when using different kernel sometimes you need to sometimes it is not needed.

dunno why your mod feels slower and more ram comsuming. tested on dunghop pyramid clk v2.1.
edit : also very fast boot (my phone boot's faster than win mob time)

im on w7 64 bit and all working well
Finally we have a dedicated updating kernel every week or so... oh god i miss the old times when we had Hastarin and marichima etc.. kernels updated everyday =)))))
Edit: also check the battery issue while listening to music on standby mode, cuz i get 60-100mAh with tytung's kernel 11b2 on MIUI latest.

We have found a temporary fix for installing Custom Kernels on this ROM:
i made a backup using 4ext of viper with my kernel , flashed leaked ICS ROM , then in recovery under advanced recovery i restored the boot from my viper backup , rebooted , then flashed my full kernel .zip lol , I'm having trouble with WiFi working properly but its again progress
Edit it works , fully
Make sure you wipe cache and dalvik before installing my kernel zip after you restore the boot

Hey thanks man, you're really helpful
This is perfect timing for the retirement of my DInc2. While I've moved on, it's got a lot of life left and I want to give it to my grandson. I was looking for a fresh, clean ROM to load after a SuperWipe and this one seems perfect.
How "broken" is the GPS? Is it completely unusable, or just finicky?
Thanks!

Exactly, flash that
A couple of key points on arhd; 1st, it's not based on a leak, It's the inc s ota. Second, I know 4 shared is slow, but it gives you a solid CDMA functioning base... You're more than welcome to reupload it on another server, though.
The GPS issue is because the Rom is setup for blackrose hboot. Our firmware doesn't work with that. The kernel needs to be tweaked so the GPS paths are pointed to the correct location for our phone.... Hopefully that helps our new kernel masters to help get it fixed...
