[ICS][SOURCE][ROM][GAPPS] ICS 4.0.3 from source with google apps - Nexus S 4G Android Development

Compiled from source with no modifications
ICS 4.0.3 crespo4g install via fastboot
DO A FULL WIPE! then flash.
adb reboot-bootloader
fastboot erase userdata
fastboot erase cache
fastboot flash boot boot.img
fastboot flash system system.img
fastboot reboot
# It might error a few times on first boot that's because I suck at this but it'll work just fine upon reboot
I shouldn't have made any changes to my first upload the current one will get stuck booting sorry give me a few minutes
I should have mentioned previously that I don't know how to make a zip installer for cwm yet but I'll work on it and I have to work out the double apps thing I'm new to all of this so it'll take more than the 2 hours of compiling and the 5 minutes of adding the proper apks
Boot Image: http://ns2.srv.so/boot.img
Untouched Stock AOSP: http://ns2.srv.so/crespo4g.7z
Somewhat Stable: http://ns2.srv.so/system.7z
Nightly: http://ns2.srv.so/system-nightly.7z
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ There's an actual nightly which is full stock no mods and I'll create an ota package when it's done compiling AGAIN because ****ing windows likes to reboot (updates) which kills the ssh session I'm using to compile android...

root access? this will be deleted. im almost positive this user just stole the build from the other user and put gapps in the system/app folder....please remove as this will have 0 progress.

Sorry I messed up the system image I just updated the zip and it's uploading now and I didn't steal this I compiled it on my own hardware
This has root and the superuser apk built in check out the file

those files in the screeny have nothing to do with the rom except for the image files I don't yet know how to make a cwm flashable zip so you have to flash this via fastboot

not like it will matter to most of you.. but I vouch for nitesn0w. him and i have worked together on NS4G related stuff a lot.
and the links are weird looking because its hosted on a personal server.. no free hosting BS.
its up to you whether you want to use the rom or not.. but its certainly legit.

it boots! like stated in OP some double system apps but it runs really really smooth. and my phone hasn't exploded yet

it's pretty easy download http://ns2.srv.so/system.7z extract it with 7zip and download http://ns2.srv.so/boot.img flash it with fastboot
adb reboot-bootloader
fastboot erase data
fastboot erase cache
fastboot flash boot boot.img
fastboot flash system system.img

I'm currently compiling a completely untouched copy of ICS 4.0.3 which will be posted soon and then I'll work on modifying it

"make otapackage" is the final syntax for making an update.zip (assuming you're building on Linux).
However, ROMs compiled directly from [Google's] source, should probably just be left to be fastbooted.

I did some cleanup. Please stay on topic and discuss about the freakin rom!. Some people has reported it works..so I will leave this open.
Stay on topic and let these guys work on it.
Thanks,

Here it is guys, Stock CWM Recovery for the ACER A100.
Before anything make sure you have the latest ICS leak C/O Vache, Root, and Unlocked Bootloader.
Official ICS Leak c/o Vache:

Root Instructions here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1531646
Unlock your bootloader for fastboot, follow here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1557445
once you have done all of the above, you should be ready to flash this recovery. Make sure you have ADB up and working properly. And place the recovery.img in your working folder (see below)
1- Open a command prompt in your working folder (usually in your platform tools, mine is C:\android-sdk-windows\platform-tools) make sure you are administrator.
2- Connect Tablet to pc and get excited.
3- Type: adb devices (verify your Tab is connected and listed)
4- Type: adb reboot bootloader
5- Once bootloader is in fastboot type: fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
You will see writing recovery, flashing recovery, etc.
6- Once flashed Type: fastboot reboot
7- Profit
This recovery has been tested by myself, and is the first in a series of goodies coming please be patient, dont ask for ETA's as the DEV's are EXTREMELY hard at work and don't even have this device themselves. Big THANKS to all of them!
Now keep in mind most mistakes are made in the location of where you opened the command prompt, just be sure the recovery.img is in the folder you are working in with the command prompt. If it isn't, well, it wont flash anything.

That must be why. The previous recovery made backup sizes of approx. 1.1Gb; This makes backups of well over 2Gb (Bar didn't even reach half way as yet when it hit the 2Gb mark ).
Working great.
Just in case anyone is wondering, flashed fine running flex-100-reaper and crossix SD swap mod.

I was going to say my backup was the right size on Flexrom A100, but it would make sense because I use the Micro SD card swap mod. So my /data/media is empty while in CWM.

5. Cut and Paste dd if=/sdcard/twrp2.2.2.img of=/dev/block/mmcblk0p22
hit enter...DONT TYPE THE WRONG NUMBERS HERE, YOU MAY BRICK.
You are now installing the Recovery TWRP 2.2.2, wait until
finished.
Press Cntrl+C then type the command adb reboot, or adb reboot recovery to double-check

Hey not trying to bash or anything and I think its cool you wrote up the tutorial although when looking for TWRP for our phones I saw the choice of using terminal or the app so I know the info is out there. I am just confused as to why you created a new thread when I feel your post would be much more helpful within the thread for TWRP 2.2 or in General.
Since this is not a change or an upgrade to the app it may or may not get that many hits and fall off the first page. But yes the information is rather important for those who need an alternative to getting TWRP on their device. I am not sure if you did but I hope you also posted in that thread your tutorial
Again not trying to disrespect you but trying to suggest in my way...:good:
Thanks I might.

Thanks! finally back to 2.2.2.0 what a relief. FYI, your DL link goes to team win's hercules page which only has 2.3.0 as far as I can tell. I got the .img file from someone's dropbox in the 2.3.0 thread. Also, the next comment in the thread linked a flashable zip with 2.2.2.0 which would allow people to skip the somewhat nerveracking command lines. Only question is, how do you flash it at that point? Certainly not from within twrp, right?
Don't mean to be a downer or anything but you do realize that PorchSong posted these exact same directions and they are a sticky in this forum?

I have installed this and also the flashable version. When I do a wipe install a ROM the wipe cache the ROM (I have tried 5 diff ones) never work. If
I do the darkside super wipe install rom then dark side cache wipe it works. I was under the impression that I didn't need to use those zip files

Device not booting after first ROM flash

Hi guys, I am very new to this community and this is my first post. So this is what happened:
I had my One X for about 4 months now, and I was starting to want something new so I rooted it and unlocked the bootloader everything went just fine. So I realized root isn't the only big thing you can do to tweak your device so I wanted to flash a custom ROM. I wanted to customize it so I used this guide: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1611349 to customize CMOD 10 based on Jelly Bean and flash it to my device. So I finished my custom ROM and wanted to flash it to my device. So I used this guide: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2069904 (post 2 only (of course)).
At first when I tried to flash my custom ROM I didn't make any backup because I had Titanium backup and I thought that it does the same thing as recovery backup (now I know it doesn't) so I don't have the stock ROM on backup. I was disappointed that the device won't boot, it only shows the boot screen "HTC quietly brilliant". And then I saw boot.img I didn't knew what to do with it so I read about it and found out that I need to flash the boot.img before I flash the ROM. So I deleted everything again and done it all over again, but I flashed boot.img that came with the CM 10 first and then flashed the ROM itself. I've done everything correctly and my device still won't boot. It's over 20 minutes and still showing the "HTC quietly brilliant" like before the boot.img.
What should I do and very much thanks for the helpers I don't want to lose my device. :crying:
EDIT: I forgot to mention that this is my first android device.

You need a special boot.img for your newer hboot version. Check post # 9308 in CM10 thread for link.
Unfortunately GPS doesn't work with this boot.img.

Probably something went wrong when you customized it. What exactly did you do? Why not just download it as it is?
And when you talked about github.... you mean you built it from source?

I did built it form source. I got in a folder 3 files: 2 folders: system and META-INF 3rd file is boot.img.
I probably don't know what to put in update.zip (what folders) would you tell me?
I customized some colors, battery skin on the status bar and fonts. I also customized build.prop and added adrenaline script so I got another folder named "data".
could you tell me how to pack it all to update.zip? I guess my problem is that.
P.S. I also sign it after packing it to update.zip with auto-signer using java.
THX in advance!
Here's one idea: Download the pre built zip of the rom and use it as a template. Replace all the folders inside with your own, custom ones.

Not sure if you understood correctly.
I meant you should dl the rom from get.cm and then replace the files with the ones you built and modified.
If this is exactly what you did, then I'm out of ideas.
I, in fact, haven't built a rom from source in my life.

I would have gone ahead but I'm not sure why there are different versions. Totally confused on boot and recovery images, but I've been out of the ROM loop for a long time.
nothing.....no boot.....just restoring my xenon rom...
The zip is flashable, contains a boot.img and has scripts to install stuff. the others are .IMG files, and the main phablet one is the biggest file at over 400megs.
edit: the one that is almost 500megs is a flashable zip too, has updater script. since that is the only one of that size, i bet that is the main ubuntu, and the others are the drivers, boot images, ect, specific to different devices.
yeap...i am downloading the img file now but i am not sure if i want to enter fastboot to flash it...

I'm going to guess you might need their recovery to flash it. Otherwise why bother making one.
So nice I hope to use it soon~~
The files are still there, they just put up a blank index.html file so you can't see the directory I have all the files for nexus 4 and Gnex
Here's the links to Gnex
http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/ubuntu-to...wc-demo/quantal-preinstalled-armel+maguro.zip
http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/ubuntu-to...mo/quantal-preinstalled-boot-armel+maguro.img
http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/ubuntu-to...uantal-preinstalled-recovery-armel+maguro.img
http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/ubuntu-to.../quantal-preinstalled-system-armel+maguro.img
http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/ubuntu-to...c-demo/quantal-preinstalled-phablet-armhf.zip
the last one is the ~500 meg file.

No one knows yet. but you can try, but you risk bricking your phone. My galaxy nexus is dead now, charging the battery. Not going to experiment with my nexus 4, since it's my daily phone. by the time my gnex charges someone will figure it out or they'll be instructions posted on the ubuntu site.

Brick it? Really?
As long as you dont flash a new bootloader, there's really no risk of bricking your phone, because, via your old bootloader you can always boot back into fastboot mode.
I'm not sure you know what the word "brick" means: Dead as a brick. Unrecoverable. Useless.
If it's recoverable, it's not a brick. Being in a state where you have to reflash some things in fastboot hardly constitutes a brick.
Sorry about the nitpick, but as a owner of much less open devices, where the risk of bricking $1k worth of equipment was a real risk when rooting/flashing, I find myself offended every time I see people whine about Nexus'es being "bricked".
Is the 500MB img for GNex, to your opinion?

[ROM] JWR66V JB 4.3 [Flash-able] (Takju) & boot loader -Now deodexed v. is available!
Made flashable though Dsixda's toolkit, Thanks to dsixda for that toolkit!
I can't assure that this works on your Nexus, I ahve tested .zip files myself and works well on my Nexus!
If YOU get BOOTLOOP:
Flash another ROM and then wipe cache and dalvik cache and then flash this ROM!
Flash it at your own risk!
This isn't so good flashable.zip so you may end up to boot loop!
Use Fastboot to fix or any other fixing method!
If you don't have fastboot drivers install them from here: (It's for verizon variant, but works on Maguro)
www.samsung.com/us/support/owners/product/SCH-I515MSAVZW#
HOW TO PULL BACKUP FOLDER:
in terminal / command prompt:
adb pull /mnt/shell/emulated/clockworkmod/backup/
_______________________________________
Installing this ROM:
recommended dirty flash to make this booting!
NEW Bootloader: (bootloader-maguro-primemd04)
Downlaod:
https://docs.google.com/file/d/0BxlYDVLp_RkMaDQ2Yl8zM2NSdm8/edit?usp=sharing
Flashing through Fastboot:
fastboot flash bootloader bootloader-maguro-primemd04.img
fastboot reboot-bootloader
Untouched JWR66V, only made to flashable:
Download:
links removed!
De-odexed and rooted Flashable:

Ohhh yes...downloading now, good job
Initial Review/Impressions:
Install went as smooth as any other flash install. It looks basically the same but the screen transitions are really smooth (note that I have not installed any apps yet, will update when I do). The first major difference you see is with the camera, the interface has been changed a bit and it does look cleaner, all the usual settings are there i.e. Photosphere etc.
I haven't noticed anything else at a first glance but I will keep on updating as I go along and I will also do a proper battery test.
The usual array of Google apps are pre-installed, although now Google Keep is also added, default browser is the regular android browser though, not Chrome. The usual wallpapers and live wallpapers are present, nothing new here either.
Thanks for making this available so quickly

No, it's just like flashing any other rom. Wipe /system, /cache, /data, and dalvik-cache

Chainfire himself says it is, also he seems to be a reliable source for this kind of information since he made SuperSU and tested it on Nexus (devices?) himself.
De-odexing.... it takes a while...

No, only risk is that IF something goes wrong during flash you can say bye to your Device :good: I've done this MANY times and never had problems, so... good luck to you (and me, since I'm doing it right now)
Follow the steps to install directly from the Factory Images without loosing any of your data on the SD-Card.
