[ACS] TWRP 2.0 Recovery flashable zip - How to inside - Nexus S 4G Android Development

I take absolutely no credit for TWRP 2.0. Go thank TeamWin here: http://teamw.in/project/twrp2
I also would like to thank Shabbypenguin for helping.
I have taken TWRP 2.0 and made it into a flashable zip through your custom recovery (CWM etc.)

I got it working fine on NS4G. Which function leads to brick?

By the way. 2.0 does not see the older nandroid backups to restore. It created a separate folder for new backup. Does that mean that it is not compatible with older nandroids?

Just tried it and old nandroids (version 1.1.1) restore. Just have to move them to the new folder. No need to flash old recovery.

Hm. Awesome then. Somehow didn't get that build in my test builds.
Phlash-made-themes would have been released had my gtab not softbricked and my evo would take any build of anything through fastboot. maybe linked to a batched unrevoked before i got the evo.
So me botching that all up, lead to no built in phlash themes with RC0
I'll get ya on the next one.
Touch screen recovery? No vol-/+ nonsense? yes please.

Thanks qbking. I was hoping someone would make a zip to flash. My adb is fubar so I have been sitting on the sidelines..just flashed it and its there. Now I will try flashing something and making a backup

Classic Clockworkmod recovery
Touch Clockworkmod recovery
TWRP (RZrecovery)
Although this is tested and "safe" to do... DON'T BRICK YOUR NS4G
(we may have to remind you this phone has a one click return to stock)
INSTRUCTIONS:
(Must be Rooted, bootloader unlocked with drivers installed.)
1. On PC, download the zip file from
(1/31/12)
http://www.mediafire.com/?3v66vx2t777q56z
(1/29/12)
http://www.mediafire.com/?58x7lmaoizmt1z6
2. extract and open "Nexus S 4G Recoveries" file.
3. Plug phone into your computer
4. Click on the recovery you want to flash.
5. Follow the instructions.
6. Enjoy!
I DON'T DESERVE ANY CREDIT FOR ANY RECOVERY ITSELF!!!
All I did was make the .bat files.
I will follow this thread to answer any questions
If you would like me to make batch files for any of your favorite recoveries that I haven't included, just let me know.

I put all those lines of code in a batch file, included 3 recoveries, adb and fastboot all in one place . One click is easier than typing out all that code and may be more simple for newer or less experienced users. I hope I've answered your question.

Why not just do it in cwm recovery. A few clicks and you have a recovery back on your device.

I'm not sure how you would flash a different recovery from recovery mode as you need to do that from fastboot. If all you want is classic Clockworkmod recovery than you don't need these switchers. I've made batch files for the new touch version of CWM and RZ recovery, as well as the classic CWM recovery.

Ibleedandroid, Thank you for the file for the touch CWM. I have been wanting this since i'd first seen it in the portal a couple weeks back or maybe not even that long. All touch recoverys rock and since the twrp2.0 stopped working on my phone I was pist. It kept erroring out when backign up my boot partition. But ever other recovery works fine. Thanks for this gem man it works great. And your flashing tool I give a 5 stars too man very nice indeed.

TWRP vs. CWM?

Can someone explain to me the pros and cons of switching to TWRP? I want to move to TWRP because it's new and shiny but I'm afraid about the part of the backups not being compatible with each other. Is there anything I need to know before I make the jump?
Sent from my SPH-D700 using xda premium
... if your going to use twrp and not switch back... its not really any different other than backups not being cross compatible... but so what if your stick to twrp.

It's not compatible with some programs like rom manager and titanium backup, but can be "injected" into all ROM setups. I stick with CWM because I love the way I can name my own nandroids from rom manager. That's a deal breaker for me if I can't.
I use TWRP on my Kindle because that was the method at the time. Like mentioned before you cannot rename your backups which can get really confusing. I see no need to use TWRP over CWM, and personally wouldn't use it if you had CWM already installed. It would be like taking a giant step backwards IMPO.
Sent from my SPH-D700 using XDA
I use TWRP mainly because it's easier to navigate.
Epic Ice Cream Sandwich
You can go into /sdcard/TWRP/backups/(ur serial number) and there will be a file folder that contains your backup all you have to do is rename it
sent from my cm9 loving SPH-D700 using tapatalk
Twrp is interactive, newer, a little easier to use as it is more straightforward.
Sent using FTL technology from the resurrection ship.
If you rename a TWRP backup file TWRP will no longer have the ability to locate it. Or at least this was the case on my Kindle using the method described above.

I'm not saying that you are too lazy to do a simple search, but....well, you ARE!
So here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1639673
I have been using cwm for ages but this 6.x.x.x crap caused me to much grief so now I run twrp touch and won't go back.
Sent from my SGH-T989D using xda premium
Ugh, don't listen to any of these guys. Anyone with issues on either recovery simply don't know how to use them. Best advice I can give you is to NOT USE THE DARKSIDE CACHE OR SUPERWIPE with CWM 6.0.x.x.
They break your CWM installation. Other than that I feel the same way you do. TWRP is great but I'm just used to CWM and prefer it. It's been on all 6 android devices I've owned and I trust it. Hard to break old habits!
Also, use the steps in this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1926754 to flash your ROMs. Should be smooth sailing. Either I'm lucky and my phone is perfect or my flashing method is key but I never have any issues with any ROMs that aren't already established by the original ROM developer.
Sent from my SGH-T989 using xda premium
Funny thing is when the Evo came out we all used AmonRA and that was the recovery to have and I must admit it neva eva eva eva caused me a problem. Clockwork was the bad stepchild over there so I stayed away from it. So to me old habits are not to use CWM not saying its bad but I had it on my Xoom and my Epic touch but now they both rock TWRP and itz the shiznicks..... To each his own

cwm 10.1?? Think you may be confused with the CM 10.1 rom. There is no such version for CWM recovery but if you still face issues there even on the latest version then try moving to the latest TWRP and it should run through fine.

TWRP is always recommended but it's all about personal preference. If you want my opinion I think TWRP is indeed better. It's got a much better UI and a lot easier to navigate, not to mention it's all touchscreen based.

Keep in mind that nandroids are recovery dependant so your current CWM backups will not be compatible with TWRP and same vice versa. If you're worried abput losing your backups what you could do is restore any CWM backup then flash TWRP and backup that ROM you had restored over to TWRP. You can do the same to all your CWM backups if you have any more but that'll take you quite a bit of time to do lol.

I tired it, but I couldn't get it to actually boot into recovery. Reverted back to CWM touch for now.
I sincerely apologize, I had previously tested an older version about a week ago. This older version was unable to boot into recovery.
Just tested with the latest release and it was able to install with no issues and boot into recovery. Looks like the newest version is indeed working on the T-Mobile variant. This was also confirmed in the i9505 thread by another T-Mobile user as well.
