[ Mod ] Arabic Support Patch for Verizon’s latest OTA update v 5.10.605.9 for Incredible 2 ( VIVOW )
DISCLAIMER
I am not responsible if flashing this Mod results in bricking your phone.
Flashing this or any rom is on your own responsibility
Full Credit goes to madmack for his Great work in developing Arabic Support for Android (shaping texts in android )
thanks goes also to andybones for Rooting the OTA and his excellent Rom
This Patch offers Arabic support , and solve all the Problem of shaping texts in android ( broken Arabic letters ) , this Patch will Solve the Problem for All ( Browser , Gmail , file managers , …. Etc ) , except for adding Arabic Menus .
I am not a developer , I Just Prepared that Patch for People who need it and don’t know how to do it
Anyone can prepare Arabic Support Patch by himself for any Custom Rom ( Visit madmack ) as long as it meets the following requirements :
1. Your device needs to be rooted.
2. Your Android version is 2.1 or newer
3. Your ROM needs to be deodexed ( Usually manufacturer Rom would be odexed which is better . Custom Roms or Rooted OTA usually deodexed for development flexibility )
4. Your rom is not based on MIUI ( closed source )
5. tip : to determine the Rom type , navigate to /system/framework on your phone or the Rom. If the file is called framework.odex then it is Odexed , if its Called framework.jar then it is deodexed.
This Patch worked for me without any Problem , tested on Andybone OTA Rom
How to Apply :
Your device Should be rooted.
It is Always good to Do a NAND first
Enter Custom Recovery CWM and apply the Patch
Sometimes permissions and xml data doesn’t get updated correctly resulting in corrupted data entries. If you receive a bunch of Force Closes after a reboot, you’ll need to Factory Reset

Support for Arabic Menus :
There are some APK’s in the market like More Locale 2 , and similar
( More Locale 2 APK ) adds complete support for All Arabic menus . I did a very brief Quick review for More Locale 2 , i fell into FC with grouping contacts , this is a Bug in the APK itself ( More Locale 2 APK )
maybe I'll try to add menus later
Hope that would help

Info and upgrade's!!!!
For more info on Radio Upgrades and roms please visit Modaco's website or just follow the links posted below thank you!!!
Thanks Modaco!!!
ENSURE YOU DO A NANDROID BACKUP SO YOU CAN 'ROLL BACK' IF REQUIRED!
A 'wipe' is MANDATORY when installing this ROM and you MUST do this BEFORE applying the update zip (as the update zip puts files on the data partition)! I also recommend you install the latest radio from my 'update zips' topic if you have not done so.
Please note that first boot may take a little while, especially if you have a lot of apps on your A2SD partition. Be patient! If you want a real clean start or you have issues with your existing A2SD installed apps when you boot, you need to wipe your EXT3 partition on SD too by executing 'adb shell rm -r /system/sd/app', 'adb shell rm -r /system/sd/app-private' and 'adb shell reboot'
The ROM is in an update.zip format for installation via the custom recovery image HERE , I also recommend installing the latest radio (63.18.55.06EU_6.35.06.18 at time of writing). As always, do a Nandroid backup before you do anything... just in case! LATEST RADIO
For the complete newbies, these are the steps you need to take with a 'virgin' Hero:
- Download the patched recovery image linked above and install as detailed in that post
- Download this custom ROM, and copy it to your SD card
- Enter the recovery image (if you're not in it already) by powering on while pressing 'home'
- Select 'nandroid backup' from the menu to do a backup
- If you copied the custom rom as update.zip, select 'apply sdcard:update.zip', else select the option below.
- all done
If you would like to remove parts of the ROM that you do not use, see this post. HERE
Feedback / feature requests welcome!
Wow, gonna try this.
Is it necessary to wipe when coming of Modaco 2.2?

I tried The Rom.. Unfortunately, all the same problems exist.
1>search in browser in landscape mode, keyboard bounces.
2>sms delivery report time shows 7 mins. later than actual.
3>Advanced task manager does not show memory inso and system tab force closes (the 3rd problem is what i dont like),
I'm quite sure there is some problem in these modified roms(even the modaco one, Ive tried them all) because when i install the rooted unmodified rom from modaco the 3rd problem is solved it works fine(not that i really need this app. its just that some where in the back of my head i feel something is not right in the rom that causes this, which might later on be a problem with some other apps also). and i also added a2sd later on which worked fine. and the 1st and 2nd problem exists in all the roms(modified, unmodified, rooted, and unrooted stock roms). if you could please solve the 3rd problem it would be gr8.
I'm very keen to try this rom...
Could anyone explain how to make the 3 partitions which are required.
Just to confirm: a partitioned sd card is not optional for this rom? When fiddling with the modaco Rom I never bothered.

Why should I flash yours instead of?
what's this "2.86.110.6 un-released build"? A new update coming up?
Interesting change of style to the notifications area - not sure if I like it or not!
Also the lock screen - how did you manage to edit it?

Hi
In Iranian forums they are talking about a patch like this.
Procedures are the same and probably files are too. I didn't tested it yet.
They said that it's working but some of them said that at least one word is not showing correctly and will be seen as square. That's the word (ی) Farsi because it's deferment from Arabic.
The most important thing for this patch to work is that you must have a "deodexed" "multi CSC" rom.
i am using the good old madmack arabic patch it worked in Obsession,Dynamic III,EASTER ROM's (but you have to change kernel to CF- ROOT with lagfix on sometimes ) i gave up on samsung keyboard long time ago using Perfect keyboard like forever but thanks anyway for your effort

But it's fully working on deodexed JVT. it's the most important thing i think

Requirement:-
1.Custom REcovery (very imp)
2.make nandroid backup before doing anything
3.xposed framework.apk
4. li'l bit common knowledge
5.modules
In this thread, I'm presenting a framework which gives you the possibility to modify your ROM - without modifying any APK (developers) or flashing (users)!
Quote:
Quick guide what kind of posts is allowed in this thread and what is not allowed.
If you don't follow the rules, you might get notified (sometimes friendly, sometimes angrily) that you're doing it wrong, but your post might as well be ignored.
NO posts without reading at least the first two posts and searching the thread => I and other people have spent hundreds of hours developing and supporting Xposed, we expect at least this much of respect
NO support for any modules here => use the module's forum instead, don't even try to post here
NO questions whether there is a module for XYZ exists => check the builtin repository and this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=2327541
NO requests for new modules => check this thread if it has been requested before, otherwise ask nicely there: http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=2327541
NO, you don't get any support via PM either => for the points above, do as pointed out, for allowed things always post in this thread (unless you want to share logs with sensitive data)
YES, you can report bugs for the framework => make sure that you followed the instructions and can reproduce it without any active modules
YES, you can get support if you have issues with the Xposed Installer (e.g. you can't install the framework) => make sure you read the instructions and searched in the thread for similar problems
YES, I will support module developers with specific questions (e.g. how to hook a certain method) => you must have read the development tutorial and give as much context as needed to make it easy for me or others to answer (code always helps!)
YES, you can suggest new features for the API (as a module developer) or the Xposed Installer here => again, no requests about modules
For a quick start, have a look at XDA's "Android Basics 101" on Xposed: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uRR0Flqx9M8
Some technical details:
I extended the /system/bin/app_process executable to load a JAR file on startup. The classes of this file will sit in every process (including the one for system services) and can act with their powers. And even more: I have implemented something that allows developers to replace any method in any class (may it be in the framework, systemui or a custom app). This makes Xposed very powerful. You can change parameters for the method call, modify the return value or skip the call to the method completely - it's all up to you! Also replacing or adding resources is easy.
Advantages:
No need to modify any APKs. This means:
No need to decompile, change things in smali, compile, sign, ...
It will work for odexed and deodexed ROMs.
Your mod is not bound to a specific version of the ROM. Unless there is a major change in the methods called for a certain functionality, your mod will continue to work even when you upgrade your ROM. Hell, it will probably even work with different ROMs.
Multiple mods can be installed at the same time, even if they change the same package. So you can use these battery icons and those quick toggles. Even hooking the same method twice is possible. Of course, this only works properly if the mods are not trying to do incompatible things.
It does its magic at runtime. That means you can implement options to let the user decide if they prefer the bikeshed to be painted in red or blue. Or you can have some extra logic for certain ROMs without building different mod versions.
It can be disabled easily without having to reflash.
It's open source.
Download:
You can download the installer from http://dl.xposed.info/latest.apk. The attached disabler zip is only needed if you are in a boot loop.
An experimental version for Gingerbread made by liudongmiao can be found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...4#post44034334 (no support from my side though)
How to install:
First step for everything you do: Create a nandroid backup and make sure you know how to restore it!
I'm not responsible for anything you do with your phone/tablet/rice cooker.
There is also the risk to soft-brick your device. In such a case, restoring a backup is the easiest way to get rid of it (other possibilities mentioned below).
For the framework:
Download the Xposed Installer APK and install it
Launch the Xposed Installer, go to the "Framework" section and click on "Install/Update"
In case you get a Segmentation Fault error, please install this additional app (not needed if the installation worked fine).
Reboot
Done!
You can verify this by starting the Xposed Installer again. If app_process jumped back to an older version (or none at all), you probably have a ROM with S-On or similar, which reverts any changes to /system after a reboot. Use installation via recovery in such cases.
For any modules you want to install:
Download <module>.apk and install it
Launch the Xposed Installer and go to the "Modules" section (you will also get there if you click on the notification warning you that the module is not enabled yet)
Enable the module by checking the checkbox
Reboot
Done!
(note that you can install the framework and enable/disable multiple modules at once and reboot afterwards)
In case you get into a boot loop:
First, try using the safemode by pressing any hardware key repeatedly. You can find a short explanation how it works here.
If that doesn't work, you can flash the attached Xposed-Disabler-Recovery.zip by Tungstwenty. It will be copied to your (external) SD card when you install Xposed as well. The only thing it does is copying /system/bin/app_process.orig back to /system/bin/app_process, which you can also do yourself (e.g. with adb shell in recovery mode).
Modules:
The official repository for Xposed modules, which can also be access from within the app itself (with download/update support), can be found at http://repo.xposed.info
You can also have a look at this index: http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=2327541
Please don't use this thread for problems with modules! Use the thread of the module instead.
How to write a module:
If you are an interested developer, give it a try. The development tutorial will help you get started. Further documentation (e.g. how to replace resources) is here. And of course, you can ask your development questions in this thread.
If you have suggestions for new functions the framework could provide (which means they should be useful for more than your module), you can do this here as well. However, requests that I or somewhen else should write a module for xyz are NOT allowed here. Again, this thread is only about the framework.

FAQ / How to
FAQ
Q : I got md5 check error or some verification error message in OTA updater.
A: Please clear OTA app data. Open Settings > Apps > OTA Updater > Clear Data
Q: Do I need to full wipe before install this ROM
A: It depend on which rom you currently used.
If you came from others rom, you must do full wipe (Clean to install new ROM in Philz touch recovery)
If you upgrade from this rom older version, you can flash without any wipe
Q: I have installed custom kernel but TricksterMod or other CPU control apps cannot set cpu config at boot.
A: Those apps may need auto start permission. Please enable this permission for that apps in Security app > Permission > Auto-start Management. Then Add auto-start app.
Q: Why LED notification doesn't work?
A: You should enable it in LG Setting. Open LG Setting > Display > Notification Flash > Check all notification you want to enable.
Q: Is this ROM support F180?
A: If others e975 rom work on your phone, this rom should work fine. If you don't convert to e975 or flash any F180 baseband before, it may not work. Some user report that he just flash Baseband in this thread (step 12) http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=46548968&postcount=1&nocache=1&z=9660244223196060. Then the phone got working signal.
This is, the most awesome thing I've seen in the development section so far after months Gonna try it, hope you stick with us pal and keep up the good work.
This Rom is very fast and smooth compared to other miui Roms but im not able to get a signal or an imei on my European e975. Miui shows at startup sim card error, never had this problem before, restoring efs via freegee didnt Chance anything :l

edit: Please try GERMAN firmware patch in OP

10days until v6 will be released, right?
Thanks for your help but the german patch dont work for me, the only thing that changes is showing an error sign if i want to turn on wifi (but connecting is no problem?). Baseband is unknown and flashing an europe 10f or an 20a baseband didnt change anything
I really want to use this Rom ^^
Lol... Format system, data and cache. Install Rom and then patch!
For me all working!
Nfc should work (turn on and off works!)
Camera
Call
....
Baseband shows as unknown but thats standard
Bootanimation wasnt animated (only shows the same picture...)
Will give more feedback soon
Playstore installations, root... All working!
Thanks for awesome work!
Patch working! (And im german but baseband should work for european!)

I mislead you about modem flash in last post. All custom rom shouldn't touch modem/baseband partition. So flashing custom rom doesn't change your baseband. You can change baseband only with KDZ flashing. If your last installed rom has working signal, this rom should work when you flash German firmware patch.
One more thing, please make sure that your last installed rom is Kitkat 4.4.2 because it may be baseband incompatible problem with JB (because this rom use LG kitkat libraries). For most CM/AOSP based rom, from my knowledge, they use JB firmware/library. So if you has never flash LG Kitkat KDZ before that may be the reason why your phone signal doesn't work.
You should try to flash your region Kitkat KDZ, root, unlock boot loader, install recovery and install this rom + patch again. Don't forget to do a full wipe before flashing rom. Hope this help.

Yes, baseband display as unknown but it's working. For boot animation, It's just a still picture (all 3 pictures in zip file are the same).

APN add is work fine on my phone. I'm using German firmware which doesn't have my local operator and I can add and save APN. Please be make sure that you press menu and then select save when finishing edit APN settings. BTW I'll use CM APN list in next update.

Did you full wipe your phone before flashing rom? Format /system, /data & /cache, in Philz touch recovery just select Wipe for install new ROM.
If so, please enable Settings > Developer Options > Force-closed Apps. Launch that "Network Operator" setting again and send me error log in popup dialog. Or if you can do logcat it will give me more information about your error. You can use "Catlog" from playstore to view and save logcat on your phone.
That menu works on my phone so I need information from you to identify source of problem.
@forgottnxd, I just tried following steps to see if my old 10f baseband work on MIUI. It works.
- Flash THAI v10f KDZ
- Root & CWM
- Flash MIUI without full wipe
- Reboot and got some error in phone app. It happen because some config in old app isn't compatible with MIUI. So...
- Reboot to Recovery and Full wipe
- Flash MIUI
- Reboot and everything works include mobile signal
- Reboot to CWM and flash German firmware patch
- Reboot phone and again all apps work include my mobile signal
Did you remember which KDZ you flash last time? Maybe I can try to flash it and what's your problem.
PS. It is possible that ROM ril libraries (both Thai & German) and your baseband is incompatible. But I'm not sure.

I can't get into network settings as well (both with and without patch). It either takes me to launcher or option in settings become grey until it reconnects me to the network (which happens every time when I try to go into networks menu). Before miui I had v20a german kdz. Of course before installing your rom I wiped everything (philz->wipe for new rom or sth). Hope logcat helps. Sry for putting it in zip, but file is too big for xda attachment.
//EDIT
Seems like I fixed it on my own. The problem occurs when I set language to Polish. I just changed to English (UK) and it works. I wouldn't even think of that if there wasn't error with some string in logcat .
Update2:
Found Bug:
set lockscreen "pattern"
enter pattern, lock, try to unlock but shows as false pattern! tried 2 times (u can disable pattern by draw often wrong pattern until u can unlock via email!) but always took my set pattern as false!
can u confirm that?
my network provider is "o2" but it shows "Work" as provider! by set manual provider "o2" (under settings -> notification) but still "Work" dont know why....
great work and hope for good teamwork for later a FINAL MIUIv5 which is bugfree and fast before v6 is released
can u look into that project: MIUI camera on our G is working! the only ROM which is using that Camera is ColorOS (link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2646837 )
dont know if we can bring it work, would be awesome but not really important at the moment because lg camera works and is little miui style
rom is really speedy. Battery life looks good/normally (different user different battery lifetime etc.. dont use my battery life to say mine is so high, its normally by me and what im doing with it! (10hours running, 100-34% and 2:30hours display on
undervolt support by kernel would be awesome!
dont know why we always have the theme graphic bugs but i will look if other theme from mi2/3 looks better... (i think its old theme because hangouts has still Talk icon on statusbar

Android 5.0.0 rom for y ( need porters )

there is a awasome android L themed rom its stock based and stabil . is there any body for port this rom to galaxy y ?
i have tried 5 times but it always giving installation aborted error.
pls port this from ace to galaxy y . thnx
http://forum.xda-developers.com/gal...-3-6-concept-l-rom-andoid-l-gt-s5830-t2807829
No way bro
I think galaxy y cant carry the android L's weight (bu arada selamlar )
You will get installation aborted errors if:
1 - your zip is corrupted or not zipped correctly
2 - using the wrong update binary
3 - errors in the updater script
Errors in updater script can include:
1- wrong syntax or typo
2 - setting a condition & that condition fails for the device you are installed on - eg check build.prop for value xyz & only install if value is true (this is used to only allow zip to install on certain devices)
The first thing you got to do is actually get your Flashable zip working - without it flashing you will never be able to move on to the next step of getting it to boot
Best thing to do is take update binary/script from a custom rom of the same type for your phone (eg stock based or cm)
Build your rom in android kitchen and create zip
Open zip
Replace the update binary in that zip with one from another custom rom
Open update script in your rom
Delete everything above the lines about symlink
Now copy all the lines from another custom rom updater script that are above the lines that are for symlink & past into yours - edit rom name etc if needed
Your rom zip should now flash - whether it will boot is a totally different thing
Please don't ask me to help you with that - There are plenty of guides to help you
