What is the difference between BFS and CFS? I'm not too sure on the details of kernels. I know 1 is Brain **** Scheduler and the other is Completely Fair Scheduler, but how do I know which one I should use?
EDIT: And actually do I need to wait for a 4.0.3 LTE ROM first also?

I don't suppose it can be used on 4.0.2 huh?
Sent by way of unspeakably black magic.

These are some damn good questions because I haven't a clue what to do!!!

don'tcha worry ssick92 i'm testing this kernel on a 4.0.2 build.
Results:wiped dalvik and cache and i can't get it to boot on 4.0.2. looks like 4.0.3 only for 1.5

I'm trying out the CDMA 1.5 CFS, SetCPU's overclock settings seem to offer only 1.2 and 1.4 GHz, no 1.35 GHz option.
Thanks.

Yeah I forgot to change that. Just use 1.4, no biggie

I don't think so, but you can just try it and if it doesn't work then just go back

BFS is designed to focus on the main app installed, and process everything around the open app.
CFS is built around multi-tasking power. In general most people will prefer CFS because you notice less issues. If your a single app kind of person use BFS since your focused, but your scrolling, and swiping actions will be a little more laggy.

CFS doesn't seem to boot on the deodexed 4.0.2 ROM... Sits at the Google screen.

I was under the impression v1.5 was for 4.0.3 while v1.0 was for previous versions. Wasnt too clear but i just restored my backup after getting stuck on boot logo.

[UPDATE][KERNEL][SOURCE] JB GB27 v1.4.2 with AGAT tREC_v0.3.5 recovery 08/14/13

I would like to thank for all help and support
morfic, interloper, chris41g, Garwynn and talustus
Now to the kernel.
This kernel is for TW (stock based) JB roms only.
It will not work/boot with any of AOSP/AOKP/CM roms.
Current version is 0.1.4.2
This kernel is based on Samsung latest GB27 JB source
MMC_CAP_ERASE is disabled in source.
OC/UC/UV, governors, I/O Schedulers.
I'll be adding more features to and and will update thread as I go.
Flashed it on my wife's phone. So far everything working.(12 hrs and counting).
- Upgraded to Linux version 3.0.82
- Available Schedulers
NOOP, CFQ, NOOP, DEADLINE, ROW, SIO, VR - init.d support
- custom bootanimation support
- WiFi confirmed working.
- Available governors.
Adaptive, Lagfree, Ondemand, Performance, Hotplug, Userspace, Lulzactive, Pegasusq, Powersave, Conservactive, Smartass2 - CPU frequencies are from 25 to 1600 MHz
- ExTweaks Support.
- May be something else I can't recall.
- Frandom module.
Recovery has been edited and now wipe won't cause a bootloop.
So far everything has been tested in recovery and everything works.
Hope it will work for all of you as well.
If not report any problems here.
Garwynn and I are working together to make recovery better.
So soon you might see a new and improved version of it.
Stay tuned.
Thanks to Garwynn (yet again) recovery has been edited and modified.
It works now for back up and restore. I have tried both.
Did a back up with tar file. Flashed kernel zip file in recovery and did a restore.
No problems. So current version is v1.1.0 with recovery tRec 0.3.5.
And this is not just my kernel. This is combined effort with Garwynn.
I think we finally nailed it down.

Just saw this thread
can someone please explain what happened? I was following the Garwynn and Agat recovery up to 0.5.0 that came out this morning at
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2217686&page=14
How come we needed a new thread.. Everything is working with the 0.5.0 on all JB ROMs..
Sorry if it sounds stupid but I am not sure how we got 2 separate threads and recovery for JB from AGAT Garwynn
Fantastic. I didn't think we'd get such a great kernel for jb. Already think all the steps for processor help with battery even before trying to change any thing. Did a backup with tar and it worked (I didn't notice it backing up preload). It did change status to"custom". It gets full 4g speeds. Wow
To the above poster. This is like a super kernel compared to the other. It has overclocking and more cpu steps.
Edit: there might also be some other tweaks as android os doesn't show up as using battery. This is a sleek kernel

There were some issues with the kernel and I start making one to rule out kernel and narrow down everything to recovery.
Once kernel was up and running I just added some stuff we all enjoyed on ICS and posted it.
Every dev has his own vision and own ways so this 2 kernels might be similar but they not same.
And I think the more the merrier.
If everything works for you with Garwynn's kernel you don't have to try/flash this one.
But if you or someone else think there is something missing or not working the way they want it to than there is another option available.
Hope this is an answer you were looking for.
to my understanding as of now
Garwynn's 0.5.0 has everything this has minus Hotplug governor, Under clocking and over clocking?
and Garwnn's can Run on Any JB ROM AOSP or TW but this is only for TW, correct?
2 questions/requests..
1. Is it complicated to enable touch screen in recovery?
2. can we add JB x2 cleaner from TD in the recovery?
Thank you Agat.. P.S. you had one of the coolest birthday cakes lol
P.S.S: both threads are called Source built JB recover AGAT... we should change the name of one of them to avoid confusion...
I guess Garwynn has to put his name in the title of the other thread.

[KERNEL][JB 4.2] Devil Kernel [Silk smooth & Hell fast] (UPDATED 24/06)

Hello People
Since long time I have seen many people struggling and requesting someone to share GREAT devil kernel.

2-Reboot into recovery.
3-Choose kernel zip and flash.

Will upload a new version tonight with devil tools already included in system/app
Edit : no it will be better if I included it in data/app so that you're free to delete it or keep
Sent from my GT-I9000 using xda premium
Better as /data/app I think too cause you know there's that issue with NsTools that sometimes needs a fix perms to give access to governors settings.. Well the fastest way to fix perms on DevilTools is to use fix permissions apps from market and apply fix perms on it only but the app won't see DevilTools if installed as system/app.
It's about the same but will just spare a reboot to recovery, check that system is mounted, fix permissions,wait....or use RomManager which with the fix perms process will be little long too.
Why not do the whole fix perms by using RomManager or going to recovery, Mount all partitions and apply while we're on it but as it's not mandatory better have choice.
Can we also report bug's ?

I'm on AICP, not stock. This is a CM kernel and I don't believe it will work on stock.

It works fine for me. Have you tried clearing the app data/cache?
