they are dry application. but with most dry applications might have the edge-of-screen-protector lift.
i'm waiting for my xo skin, so someone might want to try this out and report back.

I'm interested in how these fare. I opted for XO Skins yesterday before I knew about these. I usually go with SGP dry applications but I can't stand not covering the whole screen. I got the impression that dry applications are just not able to cover the full of these curved screens without edge imperfections.
If someone gets these, please let us know how it worked out.

Looks like no cutout for the front face camera

Ok, so I just got my Martin Fields screen protector today for my Galaxy Nexus. This was the first time I've used their brand, previously relying on mainly Zagg, but also quite a variety of other brands for all the gadgets I've had over the years. I can easily say that this is the best Screen Protector I've ever owned, by far. Like they say, it is absolutley crystal clear. My screen actually seems to be more vibrant than it was without the protector, and I certainly couldnt tell that it was even applied.
Installation was a breeze...fired up the shower to steam up the room and bring all the dust down, then just wiped my screen clean and slapped it on. Took me a few tries to get the alignment perfect. If you get dust under the screen during installation, the tape trick described on the packaging works excellently. All the bubbles smoothed out easily and my phone was ready to use right away.
The protector is about one tenth of a millimeter from the edge of the screen, which is just enough to keep it from seperating and attracting dust. All-in-all, the most exact fit I've ever seen with any SP.
Anyway, I just figured I would post my findings. I spent an hour reading forums like this before I bought them, with no concrete answers. Between the full device fit, crystal clear look, and camera protector, I have a new favorite brand. Any more questions, feel free to ask me!

I've been through almost 20 Zagg protectors in the past, which are all wet installation. I've had just as many edge-of-screen lift & dust issues with them I have with dry protectors (and I had most of them installed at the Zagg carts). After all, that moisture dries up eventually.

Fits the curved screen perfectly, no issues there. Either they anticipated it and shaped the SP accordingly, or the curve isn's significant enough to have any effect. Overall, very pleased with mine, and would definitely recommend.

There's no reason to. There's virtually no difference noticible when looking through this.protector, and believe me, I tested it with before and afters. They look just like the pictures.on MF's site. The Gal. Nexus protector comes with a rear camera protector as well, and it is just as clear. That was one of the main reasons I tried this brand, because I was tired of scratched camera lenses.

This one looks awesome but unfortunately I've spent a fortune trying out screen protectors for my Galaxy Nexus.

To bad I already tried the XO skins which is pretty nice. I never tried Martin Fields but I've heard many good things about them.

finally! they do make some of the better protectors on the market

+1 for the pics. Unfortunatelly it's been 2 weeks since I've been looking for screen protectors and have not found one that I like. The wet ones scare the crap out of me and the dry ones I found are cut way to small. Without real live pics I'm not sold. Ordered one from 3M Vikuti for about 15$ and I was really dissapointed. Never buying 3M again for anything, thats for sure.

I hear that. Currently have a zagg. But also have a clear-coat, sgp flex, and a ghost armor on the way. I guess i prefer the wet install type.

Ordered. Wish I saw this before I ordered the xo. Pretty pricey though. I hope it's worth it.

Had martin fields on my original desire and desire hd.... extremely happy with it, one on the dhd lasted me 18monhs and still going!!!! Will buy one for gnex as well

How about fingerprints, does the Martin Fields help? I have the SGP Oleophobic and am very happy with the anti fingerprint properties but wish it covered more of the screen. The SGP would be perfect if a little more coverage.

+1 more for pictures. I've heard absolutely nothing conclusive about screen protectors for the GN and I've spent the past 2 weeks trying to figure out where I should spend my money.

Just ordered mine aswell, lets see.

... that camera lens protector has me very interested.
i'd love to see some before and after pics to see if it blurs or distorts photos at all.

Got mine today and I am quite pleased with the screen protector. Think I should share my experience with those planning to buy this
First the quality of the protector is no doubt very good, it is crystal clear and very resistant to fingerprint and smudge. The screen look as good as before and there is no "rainbow" appearance of any kind one might see on cheaper alternatives. Touch screen response is maintained as well. It dosent seems to attract dust unlike some other static screen protector I tried before.
However the dreaded lift-of-edge issue is still there It may not be very obvious in daily use, but it IS noticeable. I have attach a few photos so that you can see the degree of the lift. It seems that the only way to avoid this is to have a smaller protector to avoid the edge....or use the wet type like xo-skin
For the rear camera protector its quite good from my experience and doesnt affect the image quality or the AF-speed of the camera.

Steinheil Screen Protector
I'm assuming it's in stock if it's on the webpage.
IMO, this screen protector is way better than the Zagg one. I have one on my incredible and i love it. It's not rubbery and it feels just like the screen.
I've used their Screen Protectors and they are the BEST

If you'd just look around a bit more, you'd find that the Ultra Fine for additional $3 is the anti glare and is also matte.
Looks like it's the one I wanted. I was hoping for something like iFrogz anti glare screen protection I've been using on my iPhone which it totally rocks. Don't like the InvisibleShield, it's still glossy. =P
Thanks for the heads up, going to order one now.
I'm getting one of these. This is the closest thing to the Verizon branded version, which I loved on my Droid, but the XOOM version doesn't cover the entire screen.
I was planning on getting a Zagg using a coupon code from another member here, but decided to do some more research on that product, and have been on the fence about getting it. Now my decision has been made.
If anyone wants the Zagg code, let me know. I'll PM it to you. You have to use it before Friday, I believe.

I was just about to post that one as well. Ordered an Ultra Fine one with the coupon. 28.94 total.
Thank guys! I just ordered the Ultra Fine as well. I like the idea of matte finish to reduce glare. Glare is ridiculous on the Xoom. My nook is much better about reducing glare. Anyway, thanks again! Hope the protector doesn't reduce vibrance of the colors nor clarity.
Man, I hate how much reflection the Xoom picks up. Unless, you're in a dark room, it's hard to see the screen sometimes. I love the idea of the Ultra Fine SGP. I don't think I've ever used SGP, but I know they have a good reputation.
If anybody could post a video, or screenshots of the Anti-glare when they get it, that would be great! I'm just holding off for now because I want to know if it reduces the screen quality much. But looking at YouTube reviews of this on the iPad, it greatly reduces glare.
Here's a good video review of *cough* other tablet's SGP Anti-Fingerprint...

Good thing I waited to get a protector, because this looks like it's just the ticket.
Ordered the Ultra Fine.
They are indeed high quality but there are visible scratches from swiping on the one installed on my Droid X just three months ago. Is this typical? Thus far I have no scratches whatsoever on the VZW protector on the Xoom.
And this is from someone who is fanatical about taking care of my electronics.

Yes, this is normal. I've had a Steinheil on my Incredible since May and there are multiple scratches but they're not unsightly. You have to take into account that you're not putting the Xoom in your pocket with various sharp/metal objects, so as long as your fingers and screen are relatively clean, you won't see those same scratches you do on your phone's protector.
I love Steinheil btw...

Thanks. That's why I asked -- I use a clean microfiber cloth to wipe regularly and it is kept in a case in my purse and never in a pocket. I was surprised at how easily it scratched from clean fingertips.
Oddly, I haven't seen a scratch yet on the VZW/Xoom and but expected to. Guess I am spoiled with Giottos AEGIS Pro LCD Screen Protectors for my DSLRs but they are made of German Schott glass.

Well mine's probably horrible compared to yours! I was also careful at first, making sure it was in pockets solely by itself, but after the first two or three scratches, I stopped caring. You got me thinking that I should put the backup that they sent on!
And on that note, only one comes for the Xoom, correct? I'm very obsessed about getting it perfectly laid without a speck underneath.

Yes, it is a single protector but I wouldn't be concerned - they are not fragile and easy to apply. Just be sure to find a very clean, nearly dust-free area and wash your hands well before application. I usually keep a lens blower handy as well as a couple of pieces of Scotch tape. I place the tape on opposite corners for easier control of placement.

I can't post images yet.
It was pretty straight forward to fit, a few bubbles under the film that i had to push out though. The surface is slightly grippy. This is my first screen protector (and smartphone) so I'm not able to give a comparison but I'd certainly say it's not as smooth as using the nexus bare.
I'm happy with it but I'll probably try a non spray type in the future to see how it compares.
As you can see the screen protector covers a larger area than the SGP Steinheil Ultra Oleophobic, pretty much right to the edge of the screen before it curves.

I am interested in hearing your thoughts on screen clarity and any rainbowing from it as well.
Thanks for fixing the links.
Screen clarity is great. The film is not noticeable from the angles you would be using the phone but there are some slight ripples you can see from extreme angles. The second picture I posted shows this.
The film claims to able to heal itself and I have noticed overnight some slight marks (again only visible from the side) I made by pushing air bubbles out with my fingernail have disappeared.
No rain-bowing whatsoever as far as I can tell.
I would guess the film would be crystal clear not anti glare, I can't see it mentioned anywhere. Maybe check the product site.
I purchased from the SGP store (search SGP Flex Galaxy Nexus, sorry still can't post links)
and Paid $50 total with the most expensive shipping to Australia which took 3 days including a weekend.
I've just paid £20 for one of these to be shipped from South Korea to the UK with express delivery. I ordered on Saturday and had an email saying it was shipped today. I hope it's worth it.

I also just ordered mine in anticipation of the hopefully soon VZW release.
Just grabbed one of these US$17 delivered.
Hopefully they are ok, I loved the Bodyguardz on my iPhone.
Thanks for the pictures and impressions.
This new Flex series seems a lot like Zagg InvisibleShields I had for my Droid X. Depth's pictures show the typical "orange peel" texture that is associated with most wet application screen protectors.
Not exactly my cup of tea, but I'm a bit thrown off by the lack of full screen coverage with the Steinheil Oleophobic model. Thus I'm still debating which is the best solution to go with. I inquired about a Ultra Crystal and Optics version for the Galaxy Nexus and Steinheil customer support had no clue.
for me, either realook or martin fields for the screen protector and a wet invisi-type protection for the body!
i guess that is one good thing waiting for a bit for the GSM North american versions. by the time we get it, we'll have loads of accesssories to choose from.
but of course i'm an impatient american and want my gnex now, so gonna order next week!!!!
just waiting on the vzw release and see if there is a gsm version coming soon to USA.
Mine arrived today and I was really careful with keeping my phone scratch free. I cleaned it with the cloth and perfect, not a scratch anywhere. I fitted the screen protector and still managed to trap a small speck of dust. Lol.
All in all the fit is great and the casemate tough along with the sgp should keep my phone immaculate for years to come. I would recommend this to anyone as the protector is quite thick but doesn't seem to spoil the display at all.

What about smudges and fingerprints.. can they be easily wiped off? I ordered mine just now and I hope it won't attract too much of that.
With the wet application, does the protector cling to the screen immediately like a dry application, or does it slide around a bit, making for easier aligning?
Yes but For a short time. Of You hands a moist fingers tend to "skip".

Can you comment if it has an orange peel effect? I abhor screen protectors that offer that kind of look. I refuse to put one of those on that screen. I was planning on buying one right now so I will have it the day I get my Nexus on VZW. If you can take a really good picture of the screen to show any kind of effect if any, I would appreciate it. Thank you very much!

Atrix screen protector

I've been considering getting a screen protector for a while now. The problem I have is my hands sweat very badly (gross I know) and then the touch screen on my phone goes crazy from the water on the screen. I have never had this problem with any phone I've had before now. I think it is because the Atrix touch screen is more sensitive than any other phone I've had. I was wondering if a screen protector would fix this problem and what some good brands were to try. Thanks
Sent from my MB860 using XDA App
You should always have a screen protector on any smart device you care about. One grain of sand in your pocket can ruin your screen (and your day). That said....
A screen protector will likely NOT fix your problem, as water (sweat) registers as a capacative touch. For a screen protector to "fix" the registration of sweat, it would have to also "fix" the registration of a desired capacitive touch (finger, stylus, or otherwise).
The only manner in which a screen protector could help is if you could find a very hydrophobic one (the repells and beads water), though you would still need to soak up that water with your shirt or a handkerchief or something. I'm not sure they even sell these. Google is your friend, here. Use keywords hydrophobic and/or water-repellent. Good luck, my friend, and let us know if you find anything interesting!

I tried few of a kind and decided to go with Otterbox Defender case which has a transparent front panel.
Refurbished case is about $20-25 and as good as a new one.
No need for screen protector. No mess with applying one...
What if I put on an average screen protector and then sprayed it with some form of water repellent?

Water repellent spray wouldn't work because the screen protectors are vinyl or polyurethane and are not absorbent. Those hydrophobic sprays only work with an absorbent material like cloth or real leather.

I have to disagree with the statement that you have to have a screen protector, we have gorilla glass! I have never had a protector and my screen looks great! As for this situation, a protector that has a little rubberized feel might work well. I would read reviews on Amazon and buy the one that people complain the most about it sticking!

FWIW, my wife has been w/o a screen protector since April and I've been with / without one on and off since June.
Still not a single scratch on either phone, however, without one the screen is too smooth, so I'm thinking of going back installing one.
Hope this helps...
I went without a screen protector for a few months. I took the phone outside and noticed TONS of very fine scratches. You could only see them in direct sunlight, but it bothered me enough that I got a screen protector shortly thereafter.
I was thinking to buy a Vikuiti ADQC27. Has anyone tried it?
Thanks
I have to second the rec for the Otterbox Defender case. Having the screen protector built in is pretty awesome and in my experience, it has withstood all kind of liquidy stuff on it and plenty of goopy stuff as well. Like those technical terms?
It hasn't hampered my touch screen through various roms with various sensitivities and my glowing review hasn't even hit all the protection benefits it gives.
Best part? I got mine for about $10 'used' on ebay and while the silicone part was a little loose, a quick email to Otterbox got me a free placement in the mail without any hassle.
I haven't used one myself, but if they make one for the Atrix and if it's what you are really looking for, Zagg stuff has made some of my friends really happy.
You should look into a Matte one where is almost smudge free
altho it looks slightly foggy and scratch easily, but its worth it
make sure u get like a few togehter on ebay so you have backup ones

Can you suggest any brand? Something like the GreatShield Ultra Anti-Glare (Matte)?
I have one on mine, steinheil (SGP), while the protector gets scratched its better than the screen getting scratched.
Can't really tell the SGP ultra crystal protector is on the screen either, other than the few scratches that are on the protector now. Comes with 2 in a package if you get them.
They have an oleophobic one that is suppose to be oil resistant, maybe that one might be ideal? The ultra fine is their matted one.
If you look at the product on their webpage the 'Select a Color' changes the type of protector they have (took me a min to find the different versions they had when I looked again).
Last while the corning glass is tough, with a vickers hardness of 622kgf/mm2 in the unstrengthened and 701 in the strengthened stuff is pretty impressive.
Spec sheet for the glass can be found from corning's site using a google search, made me curious to check it.
While pretty hard something as simple and common as sand can scratch it which has a vickers hardness of about 1000....
Keys, lighters and the like are unlikely to scratch it though as unless its hardened tool steel its hardness will likely be below 650, an edge on a tungsten ring could probably do the trick though.
Anyhow I keep one on my phone, though maybe not really necessary I'd rather have a scratched screen protector than see the glass get scratched.

Zagg and Skinomi are quite nice. I like the Skinomi on my tablet maybe even a bit better than the Zagg on the Atrix, but the difference is very minimal. I'd say the Skinomi may slide slightly better than the Zagg, but you're splitting hairs.
I agree with BeakHill. SGP is great except they scratch easier than Zagg. The Ultra crystal is so clear that they don't even have a cut out for the front camera. The Ultra fine is their matte model and it is good and smooth, the crystal is nicer IMO..
The problem with SGP is they spoil you to the other brands, and they are more expensive.

Best Screen Protector?

So after a month of having this phone, I have decided that it is an absolute beast and has been made even beastlier with the hardworking developers on this site. However, I have (somehow) obtained a few scratches on my screen and as a result, have decided to invest in a good screen protector. My ideal screen protector is one that takes away minimal feeling of the "glass" on the screen, while simultaneously keeping the phone looking fresh and sharp as if there is nothing on there. In the worst case scenario, I'm looking to be able to cover up my current scratches, and then prevent future ones.
If anyone has any recommendations that would be great - thanks!
Just get the zagg at the tmobile store it looks weird the first day but give it 24 hours and it will be perfect. Also use the foursquare app to check in and you will get 30% off the screen protector. Oh and it comes with a lifetime warranty.

To be honest I have no idea. I have not been in a 50 mile radius of any sort of sand since I got the phone, nor have I ever dropped it or anything like that. The only thing I could think of would be that it got scratched while in one of my pockets? Although that is pretty unlikely since I always give my S2 its own pocket..

Look into Realook. It looks and feels like it isn't there. If you look at my phone, you can't even tell it's there, covers the entire screen as well.
Realook is so perfect there is no way of knowing that its there. Only thing is its not as oleophobic or anti fingerprinting as it says. But all premium protectors are like that too - even though they advertise elsewise.

I discovered a tiny pinhead chip in mine yesterday over the menu button, so at least its not visible. I cant feel it when using the phone, but if you rub your fingernail on the screen you feel it.
I worried about it a bit, but its a phone, and i have the insurance.
The Realook protectors definitely seem to b getting some great reviews. I will most likely end up buying one of them, thanks again everyone!

Ghost armor is the best for me. I have that with my vibrant, sensation and SGS2

You would be referring to the Ultra Fine one, not the Ultra Crystal one by SGP, right?

Ultra Fine is matte so the it adds a bit a of blurry effect, i was referring to the Ultra Crystal one a personal favorite of mines.

I had bad experiences with realook, with its own squeegee scratched the screen protector. And i didn't add alot of pressure, they sent me another one but i eventually had to get a refund because it was just so easy to get scratched. Remember my personal experience maybe others had it better than me, but the only two companies i would go for screen protectors is SGP(real good quality and great customer service) and Zagg(lifetime support).
I just put a reallook protector on mine and it didnt come with a squeegee. The instructions said to use the cloth to rub out the bubbles. Putting it on took some real effort though. About 30min into the process of application (i just couldnt get it aligned right) i dropped it sticky side down on the floor. I had to spend another 20 min cleaning it off using scotch tape but it ended up going on fine with no dust. It works great. Ive only had it a week though so i cant comment on the scratchproofness.

I discovered this ebay sp supplier when I was a Sensation addict. They were the only ones that I found that would fit the Sensation's curved screen. I have since installed them on every phone in my household. I put that bleeeep on everything! They are a dry install product, superclear and not rubbery. I have paid many times more for equal or less quality product.

I have the Zagg invisible shield on mine and i hate it. I just ordered the ultra tough ones from bodyguardz.
The Zagg has a real bad orange peel affect. It looks horrible if you are looking at an angle or using it outside.

It only took me about 5 min to get it straightened up and applied on. Then maybe like a few seconds to get the air bubble out from there. Didn't get any dust/lint on the SP so for me it was perfect on the dot. Even if you look at it under the light, you won't know it's there. There is only one small tell, by the earpiece that you can see it's there
+1 for Ghost Armor. The local mall has a kiosk where they apply it for you...and only $5 to have them replace it. Best screen shield i ever used, great value, highly recommended

Just get the zagg at the tmobile store it looks weird the first day but give it 24 hours and it will be perfect. Also use the foursquare app to check in and you will get 30% off the screen protector. Oh and it comes with a lifetime warranty.

Worst advice ever, well perhaps not but definitely not a protector I would recommend. The problem with the Zagg invishield is that its very rubbery and more times the coefficient of friction will be too great to even enjoy doing anything on the phone.
I have the SGP ultra crystal and I'm very happy.
Had a zagg on a previous phone and didn't like it as much as this one.
Here is a GREAT ONE!
This one is very good quality, its also VERY cheap, I ordered 2 of them which is a total of 4 Screen Protectors,
Its Crystal clear, feels great on the fingers and doesn't feel cheap.
Perfect size, no cutting required an theres holes for the FFC and Speaker and stuff
Its absolutely great! and only 2 dollars (free shipping) for two of them!
I seriously can't even tell i have a screen protector on, it came out perfect!
Last but not least, there ya go!

Yet another scratch! What's generally considered the best screen protector?

This phone apparently has the most fragile screen of any phone I've ever used, and I've already gotten two deep scratches on it just from being in my pocket alone. I'm usually a huge fan of keeping the phone naked, but this is unacceptable. I'm willing to spend at least $20-$30 for a very good screen protector that will stay in place. What's the consensus?

I have the ultra nano optics anti fingerprint from sgp. Used their screen protector on my old epic 4G and it lasted me the full 2 years with no issues. So fat so good on this. Dry, easy application. The also have a wet application one and a curved one.

Ive had mine in my pocket with no scratches. If im at work, goes from a pocket or holster to the table amd back. I find the screen to be the same furability as my iphone 4 screen. Two years and no scratches on it either

If you really want a clean phone, you can try the new Spigen Glas.t screen protector. This protector made by tempered glass and with not scratch easy. Cost around 35 USD but looks great on your phone.
yeah check out the glass protectors, there are a few brands out there, youtube videos look very convincing. I got a glasszone one coming from ebay (haven't seen a review on this one yet).

I've heard that some of them cause problems with the proximity sensor.

The one i told you earlier (SGP GLAS.T) do not have the problem with proximity sensor, dots on the screen and cases compatibility

That question will get you tons of differing opinions. Here's mine, lol.
The Skinomi is really good. I've had them on tons of phones throughout the years and I think they've gotten better. Never had them discolor. My first ones had some orange peel but the one I just installed on my S3 is REALLY nice. No peel. I'm very pleased.
Best part is it's $3 - http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0084F4HY8/ref=oh_details_o02_s00_i00
For 3 bucks, you can't go wrong in trying. If you dont like get the more pricey options. Doubt you will.

It's almost as if Samsung used a subpar glass on some models. My wife ended up with a good scratch on her screen after a few days, and we have no clue where it came from, she had been super careful with it and never had anything else in the pocket with it. I am currently using a Zagg HD screen protector (honestly cannot tell any difference compared to their old protectors). I have considered trying out one of the glass protectors as I love the feel of the naked screen, the Zagg has the typical silicone screen protector feel to it, but I deal with it because I want my screen protected.
well the only scatch i have its a dot on my home key.
and plastic border,
so unless u put ur pants with a bunch of pointy nails , or sand. it shouldnt scratch that easily
I too have a zagg hd on now and do not like it. Seems to peel up on the sides a few times a week. So are the glass ones good to go? I had read some reviews......I believe it was droid-life that said that there were dots or grids in the finished product?

I bought a Skinomi when Amazon had it on sale for $0.99, and I can't recommend it.
CONS:
1) It's an annoying wet-application that takes a few days to dry, and for all major bubbles & imperfections to go away
2) Even after it dries, a few splotchy imperfections & minor orange peel will remain, but it's not visible with the screen on.
3) It feels RUBBERY. Compared to SGP's smooth ultra crystal, skinomi is just tacky as hell.
4) It peels up at the edges over time, especially with TPU cases, but not so much with hybrid cases.
5) Fairly thick: the home button is flush
PROS:
1) It's cheap-ish
2) It's nearly full-coverage
I guess the thing I hated most about it was the tacky friction feeling as I swiped my fingers, but after it built up a layer of grease, it got better (and after you cleaned it with microfiber, went back to tacky-as-hell). Just wasn't smooth-as-glass enough for my tastes, compared to SGP.
I'm currently using the new-version SGP Ultra Crystal... and my single gripe with it is that I know it's not supposed to be full-coverage, but, it could've been made a little wider. As-is, it's almost exactly as wide as the black part of the display, so you feel the edge sometimes.
