[Q] How to tell what kind of LCD screen connector your evo has? - EVO 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello I have a HTC evo that just got run over by a car and I need to change the LCD screen + digitizer.. when looking for a replacement on ebay I noticed there are 2 kinds of flex connectors, one is wide with 47pin, the other is narrow with 25pin. Without opening a non functional phone to psychically check which type of connector I have is there any other way to find out which kind I need?
Also does anyone know the best place to buy a replacement from a US seller?
Thanks in advance!

As stated in multiple threads before, the ONLY way to tell is to open the phone up and look. There are no other signs to see which is which, you just have to open it up and look.
And one thread is enough:

There's already been a bunch of threads on the subject of where to get replacement digitizers, batteries and covers, etc... You'll need to look over in the Accessories sub-forum, just search there and you'll find a number of options for each of those
Thanks for the advice. Will look in there now

[Q] Digitzer replacement

Hi there, I cracked my Desire's digitizer and tried to replace and subsequently damaged the LCD screen (Sony version). Having had a further look online I noticed that there appear to be a few different digitizer part numbers. Mine (the broken one) is 940-682-1RA, however any that I have seen online for sale (ebay) are ending in 1R1. I have also seen others reporting that there are ones with a number ending 1R2. Does anybody know if I need a digitizer with a matching part number or will any of the others work ok?
I had replaced the digitizer on mine but didnt get a chance to test it was working properly as I must have bent the LCD panel too much during disassembly and broke it. I have ordered a new LCD and hope to fit it soon, but wanted to check about the digitizer in case I need to send it back and order the correct one. Grateful for any advice you can offer.
Many thanks
Gareth

[Q] Huge crack across screen!Need some advice.

Dropped my phone on asphalt today and got a big hairline crack across the screen . (Attached pics)
It really hurts cause i always baby this phone and just the rush to get to work and in my car, completely missed my pocket.
The screen is still responsive to touch and seems to be working normal thank god the lcd screen wasnt damaged and the digitizer didn't shatter.
Got a few questions t
1) just wanted to clarify that the digitizer lies ontop the LCD screen?
2) and that is all that needs replacing?(from damage seen in the pics)
3) also mine is branded just HTC(no carrier, so it's international GSM version?)
4) would it matter if i bought a replacement digitizer meant for the at&t version or not?
5) should be getting a one x that had some water damage and is no longer working. would the digitizer from this phone be a viable option for me to use as a replacement or should i just order the part online.( I really want it replaced fast and if i have to order the replacement it will take about a week to 2 weeks to arrive in my country
so apparently i can't attach any urls until i make 10 posts or i'd show u guys the part i wanted to order but its basically just a screen digitizer from ebay with tools needed for about $17.86.(is that cheap, good or expensive price considering the item + tools)
can you guys please search for it on ebay?the title of the post/part is Touch Screen Digitizer Glass Lens Replacement For HTC One X S720 + Free Tools
the link above is the item i'm looking to order for replacement. is it the right part i'm looking at?and would that be all i need or is there anything else i should add?also quality wise would it be top pick or are there any better options available?
Attached some pics also.Advice would be greatly appreciated.
You are unlikely to be able to separate the digitizer and lcd without damaging the LCD.
A water damaged phone may have a water damaged screen.
Search one of the other broken screen threads for more information.
I've replaced several screens on captivate.easiest way is get replacement(LCD+digetizer) from ebay,Google procedure.watch or read as many times as needed to feel confident to take apart phone.the hardest part is seperating LCD from phone(they use adhesive to secure LCD to phone).I used razor to carefully cut adhesive.
Most components are plug&play.just follow guide completely,u should be fine.
My LCD was $85 on ebay.good luck.

[Q] Screen replacement

Hi. I just got a used HTC One X phone, but the digitizer is cracked. I understood that I can't change only the digitizer, so I wanna buy a digitizer+LCD display assebmly. Now I have a problem. Reading on the internet I found that there are 2 different screens, with green and yellow flex cable. Which one is for my phone? I have the international version with Tegra 3.

if you are going to change it youself then best to open your hox and match the serial number
My idea was to open the phone after I have all parts (want to change the housing and display assembly) from ebay. I saw that they ship the parts with tools, because now I don't have any.
Sorry for double post, but I wanted to tell you that I managed to change my LCD display. I bought this one: http://www.ebay.com/itm/111039746173?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649 and I am very glad. I didn't noticed any contrast/color differences. Everything worked as it should, except vibrate, which doesn't work anymore and I don't know why, I triple checked the connectors of the vibrator.
If someone want to change by himself, just go to service I had a very hard time to take the phone apart (I also changed the back case cover).
Oh, the old LCD had panel_vendor and panel_id 944701. Same with the new one.

HTC one x white screen replacement help

I have the HTC ONE X White AT&T, but I'm stuck on on replacing the screen, every video I can find on the internet is for he black version, and I need help with one part. After the motherboard etc was out, I have to remove the screen, I did, but idk if I got the lcd part too, because it is much thinner than the replacement. there is like 3 layers of paper/plastic s and then a gray screen left. Can anyone help? I can send pic I really really need help I don't want to mess this phone up!
Update
I split the LCD in half it looks like, but the digitizer seems to not be working correctly is there a way to repair it? or do I have to buy a new one?
show some picture. DId you buy lcd+digitizer or only lcd?
it was the combo the digitzer cable (the connector) seems to be bad as it is very difficult to connect compared to the one that came with my phone, when it does connect the touch is very very slow and uncalibrated. Pictures are coming

IS there a way I can repair this?
I think you have a one xl (snapdragon) and not an international (tegra) version in which case it would explain why it doesn't fit or work properly.
If you do have the xl codename evita then you are also in the wrong forum my friend and should head over to the HTC one xl forum.

it says here that it works for both versions though http://www.amazon.com/Display-Digit...qid=1413140433&sr=8-2&keywords=HTC+One+X+AT&T. Every other product had low reviews, is there anywhere I can get a reliable screen replacement?
Pretty much every screen replacement says it doubles up with the HTC One XL. If anyone can help it is greatly appreciated.
can I use the old cable? somehow
Look here mate: http://www.etradesupply.com/htc/android-models/htc-one-x.html
I recently got a HTC screen here and it's perfect & original

Hi,
The LCD on the One X and the XL can be different, there is a Sony and a Sharp version which aren't interchangable, but the Digitizer should be essentially the same, as the connectors are identical.
That said, I have come across a dodgy digitizer that was brand new before, and it occasionally does happen. If you want to tell the difference between the sharp and sony version of the LCD, the sharp version gas a green backing to the LCD flex cable while the sony has an orange/yelloy backing to the flex cable, check the attachment i've posted, the one on the left is sony, the one on the right is sharp. It is possible that you have a bad digitizer, but i take it that the LCD works. If thats the case check the connector pins on the main board to make sure they are not damaged (do the same for the digitizer) if it looks ok, and the digitizer is still playing up, i'd try and get a replacement.
Hope this helps
Well I got the thing back together, but I have problems mainly that I'm getting no signal, lastly what thickness of tape should I get?
You may need to open it up again and check everything is connected properly and that it's seated correctly in its rear shell, as there are contacts on the mainboard that touch the antenna mounted inside the shell, hopefully the phone is recognizing the sim and network.
I'm not sure what you want the tape for, could you explain?
We used carpenter's tape, because the tape we supposed to be supplied with didn't come in and the customer is in a rush, I was just asking what should be the thickness of the tape etc
Sorry, I wanted to know what you were going to use tape for, if it was to keep digitizer stuck to frame, I'd use the smallest amount of instant adhesive, being careful not to allow it to run under the glass, where you would see it when you press it down
We'll the screen is almost sticking out of the case despite this being the strongest tape I've ever run into, so I'll guess I'll need thinner tape I just don't want to take everything apart AGAIN and retape. It's a pain to do So should I remove the tape and use glue? Or get thinner tape?
If it's for the back of the LCD get the thinnest double sided tape you can, preferably something reputable like 3m as this is what's going to hold everything in place, if it's the digitizer, I'd use adhesive the tiniest drop in each corner and in the middle of each side, then press until it sets, you just have to be careful as if you use too much it can run from under the glass, and be visible.
---------- Post added at 04:11 PM ---------- Previous post was at 03:44 PM ----------
Just as a tip, you can get a replacement mid frame that already has the 3m tape on it, but I still like to put adhesive on the edges of frame where digitizer sits as sometimes the pressure of putting everything back in the shell can make it pop up.
Well upon taking it back apart the lcd, it got ripped like the bottom half of it is stuck to the tape the top half on the case and there are a bunch of white sheets etc in between them. now should I order a new one or can I repair this? its split in half, nothing is ripped. I'm about to just order a phone off amazon at this point.
You will have to get a new one, look at the videos on YouTube, there are plenty to help, but make sure you keep old one to change over as the phone needs to be turned on to do the LCD change. but if it's really damaged, you cash pick up a used one x reasonably cheaply, but the one m7 or m8 are great phones.
