[Q] Hardware keyboard settings - G2 and Desire Z Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

How do I change this from English? It's the default language and there are no other options to choose. I want to use Simplified Chinese with Pinyin input on the keyboard. The soft keyboard works fine, only the hardware keyboard has this problem.

I'd like to know it too. I'm using a DZ with stock rom and spanish hw keyboard, but I have only bthe english layout...

Well, this worked fine in my Windows Mobile phone. I could switch back and forth from English to Chinese on both soft or hard keyboards. But from reading around, I seem to find that the keyboard is locked to one language. What a dumb idea. Yet another stupid problem with my phone that shouldn't be a problem.

I'm using GO keyboard from the android market. You're able to download multiple language packs as well and Pinyin is working fine for me even on the physical keyboard.

Thanks for the advice, it works great. A bit of trouble to get Chinese working correctly, but it's fine now.

Glad to help. =D

Other keyboards that support language change via hardware keyboard are Smart Keyboard Pro and AnySoftKeyboard.

[Q] Changing prediction lang for hardware keyboard

Hi there,
I'm wondering if there's a way to change the prediction language for the hardware keyboard? I have my phone configured with English and French as the 2nd language, and it works great when using the touch keyboard since I can change language at the touch of a button.
But when I use the hardware keyboard, prediction is always in English. Is there a way to switch dictionary language for the hardware keyboard?
Thanks!
I have the same problem. Wonder if this is a bug...
Check out the fix by REDGLASSES in the DEVELOPMENT forum titled [FIX] STOCK KEYPAD UPDATE FOR CYANOGEN, or something like that. I'm sure French is in there,... give it a try.

Mine it's not a keyboard mapping problem but rather a problem with the prediction language.
I have the same problem :
I wanna have a French prediction, but I have just the English one...Unfortunately, my phone is in English/Italian...
Is there any solution now ?

Language Issues

This is the first time I bumped into this issue, and I must admit it sucks
Here's the deal, in every single phone I had I've used the phone (UI) in english, and wrote text in spanish using Itap.
My last phone (nokia 5800) had no problems with that.
With this new one, Moto Defy, I see there's no way to change the UI language, and the auto-prediction separately.
I thought it had to do with the fact that Android by default doesn't have a T9 like keyboard for text input so I downloaded a couple of apps for that but all have the same issue, they work fine, but they keep using the language for auto-prediction set in Settings (which is English, for the UI)
Does anybody know how I could accomplish this?
Hope somebody can help =)
Regards!
I had your same issue and I solved it using "htc ime mod keyboard"; you can find it here on xda forum, not on the market (therefore you have to manually install it).
It's fully customizable, has T9 prediction, supports many languages.
Infact I configured the volume button to quickly switch between 2 languages that I use.

I'm really picky when it comes to typing speed so maybe it's just me. I'll see what I can do but thanks =)

[Q] Bluetooth keyboard in 2 languages

Hi
If somebody has physical keyboard connected via Bluetooth to XOOM please check is it possible somehow to use 2 different languages on it. And how to switch between it.
Normally I use 2 virtual keyboard English and Russian one, but I'm thinking to buy Motorola Bluetooth keyboard to type letter and etc. I know that on Moto keyboard only English alphabet, but it's easy to make engraving on it to have 2 languages, so I need only to check is it working or not.
As I know original Moto keyboard somehow could have only English language (even when you set language strictly to russian. The on screen keyboard will show Russian keyboard, but when you will touch the physical keyboard it automatically just types the English letters). So is it possible to change somehow?
Which virtual keyboard you're using for Russian? I've tried SmartKeyboard Pro, but the layout is not that good...

I use standard virtual Honeycomb keyboard)) But know I prefer to use bluetooth keyboard
I figured out how to use native keyboard after posting
I believe the regular keyboard will work once we figure out how to set Locale to Russian as well. I know Russian is supported by Honeycomb, but by default only English and Spanish are the options. Anyone knows how to enable other locales?
Tablet keyboard
i use an on screen r virtual kwyboard on my zoom that i downloaded from the market. it is call "Tablet Keyboard" made by "Pretty Easy" ther isa free onethat i tested out and it was great. it has an option to use a full keyboard or it split the keyboad in half with one half on the left for the left tumb, and the other half on the right. it also works in connection with the build in keyboard onmy zoom. so there always the option in th lower right hand near the time where you can switch between the two keyboards if you like. you do have to check the boxx in keyboard setting to make it active. i think they even have a paid version for only ¢99.

Right know I got answer from Motorola support that their Bluetooth keyboard support only English language, also I got the same reply form one of the owner of such keyboard.
Now I'm trying to find solution to print on 2 languages English and Russia from any Bluetooth keyboard that could be connect to Motorola XOOM.

Try this:
Select Russian virtual keyboard as input and start typing on Bluetooth keyboard. I think it should type in Russian... But I don't have a keyboard to try it. Mine should be here in a few days, I'll give it a shot.

One owner of Moto keyboard and XOOM tired and told. Even if you have only one language Russian, the Moto Bluetooth keyboard still type on the English language(
But if you will get it, try to click SHIFT+CTRL or SHIFT+ALT (if you have such keys on the keyboard), may be it will recognize it. I read somewhere that Moto keyboard support hot command like CTRL+C or V to copy and past command. So may be it will change language of keyboard like a normal PC.
Thank you in advance.

[Q] Gingerbread Keyboard dictionaries not working

Hello.
Been using GingerVillain for quite some time now. Since the begining that i struggle to get sms/emails out without any gramatical errors since the keyboard dictionary doesnt work.
I go to language and keyboard settings-> Android keyboard-> input languages and have ****loads of dictionaries there to choose from.
Oddly enough, the only one that works is English.
Have searched this forum for an answer and didnt found one.
Any clues in how to get a Portuguese keyboard dictionary for example?!?
Thanks in advance for your help.

[Q] Adding a French qwerty mapping in myONEv?

Hi, first poster and first time flasher, very exciting stuff, especially the pre-OC'd kernel, I love it
I do have a little issue with myONEv though, the ROM doesn't have a "Français (Cananda)" locale and it appear that all the other French locales have an azerty keyboard. Is it possible to add a French locale with a qwerty keyboard mapping, or somehow change the mapping without changing the language?
Thanks for your time.

Hmmm any French keyboard will work fine
Example m on India but English(dubai) works fine for me

Hi, thanks for the reply.
It's not that they don't work, the issue is that all the French locales use the azerty key mapping. In Canada we use the French qwerty keyboard, unfortunately right now I cannot get both a French system and a qwerty stock keyboard in myONEv. I can always use a third party keyboard like swiftkey as a workaround though.
sad man! have u tried googling it!?
