just because someone has it, it doesnt mean they are going to freely give it out to anyone. It's not being rude, just selective. For example, if I had this game. I would only give it out to other people that have contributed to this site, not just a bunch of leechers that gain info or software and have nothing reciprocating to offer. And secondly it would be via PM or other communication ways. Not posted publicly on this site (which is against site rules)

Quite true, but isnt distributing edited versions of Windows Mobile O/S.
I am not complaining btw without Kavana and Rickys WM6.1 i would be stuck with BT Bloatware.
its really not that great. i was able to nail every song on the highest settings with little effort. its mainly good to just show off. plus you need a good interneet connection to get the songs

I'm not a leecher. Never asked for a damned bit of your warez (I always hated the whole fake-music genre of games), but it seems like I hit a nerve with that comment. Guess if you have it, you're a leecher.
All I was saying is that having something like guitar hero makes certain people feel special...because they have it and others don't. If they let it out too liberally, just like the child in the schoolyard, they're not special anymore because everybody is the same again. They lose the "look what I got and you don't" shine.
It's a nasty attitude and shows that people really don't grow up. If you don't want to give it out, you really don't have to say anything at all. But it's the schoolboy in you that has to yell "MINE!"
To the original poster, Guitar Hero III mobile is available online. T-Mobile has it in their downloads as well. And I'm not sure who told you we're all here for the same reason: to help each other out. There are quite a lot of people here who feel they're at some elite status and can't be bothered with people who are where they were, say, ten months ago.
problem is, that most people dont contribute to this site ( or at least this forum) they sit here asking all sorts of questions, but never offer any help to others. Im not an eliteist.... i did what most techy type guys most like did when they first got their phones, they dabbled with it, figured crap out for themselves, and when they didnt, they found the almightly google for help. Once they started to put 2 & 2 together with what their phone could and couldnt do, they started offering help to others, and i stress help. Help is not giving out software that they have and saying: " here ya go! " help is actually resolving someone elses problem. and i hardly think that a software request is a problem. For those certain individuals that i've seen on this site actuall make a signifigant contribution to help others that are in need, when they've hit me up for software, i've always hooked them up, but for the ones that "hit & run" and have not had anything to offer to date, i dont give them anything. (and i stress give). its not like im going to be seeing these people on what you call the schoolgrounds anytime soon and i dont really care how many people have the same software i have. i do feel that some deserve it and some dont , based on their merit. simply googling guitar hero III and finding a thread in this forum, finding out that there is a guitar hero III for the mobile phone and then requesting it is not contributing anything in any way. ( BTW i've been with this forum since nov of 2006 and have had a smartphone since WM2003 so i dont know where you are getting your 10 months ago figure)
Nah, dude, that wasn't meant as a slight to you. I can't disagree with anything you wrote. I'm fairly new here myself (though I've had a smartphone since I had WM2003 on my Samsung SCH-i600 with Verizon). I joined it because it's a relatively well-respected forum in the smartphone community and a place that everyone asking questions elsewhere is sent to.
The problem is this forum just lacks moderation and organization. Being new here, I feel sorry for people just showing up and having to dive through this mess. Yes, a lot of questions get repeated. But it's fiendishly easy to say "justfuckinggoogleit.com" to the point that over 80% of a user's posts reflect that..again, without giving any real help. It makes the community look bad as a whole. That's what pisses me off.
I think being called a leech kinda set me off, too, since there's nothing on my phone (except the ROM) that's not either bought-and-paid-for or freeware.

I am apologize for asking for a green theme, but I have been looking everywhere for one and cant find it. I'm not just some idiot stoner, in fact I am somewhat educated and have a degree from UAB in computer science. I have just recently started learning how to work with the android phones as far as modding them.

I already tried to use sirmez's green version of prodigal sun but every time I do it gets past the g1 screen but will just freeze at the boot screen.

Try to wipe, flash the ROM, reboot, cut off, drop back into recovery, and then flash Green_P_SuN it should not loop after that good luck

Yeah he is a good guy, he helped me by porting over a theme. Openhome is a good program, I used it before root. It did not slow the phone down much, and with a Cyan ROM it shouldn't be too bad at all. Might help with theme issues, and finding a theme you like and have it work. But you sure you want a theme like that? Would your boss mind if he walked up from behind as your checking your phone and saw the screen?
EDIT: saw that the newest openhome is having issues. Panda home is well reviewed and free.

XDA has been around a while, and the dream/android has been around almost a year. Forums by their very nature grow and become more jumbled with info and posts and repeated or useless info as time goes on. And while it is possible to slow this by posting correctly, searching, and other means, it will happen. You could archive old threads and try to gather up useful info into sticky threads, but there is no way to fix the "mess" other than a complete wipe of the forum. I can do searches and pull up threads from 2005 for example. Complaining that the forum is getting crowded and jumbled is like using a vacuum cleaner and complaining the bag is getting full. Forums are there for people to use to ask questions and share info/ideas. Some people do abuse the system with posts that neither provide useful info or ask questions. Some post without searching for answers. It will happen, but you do not have to be an a** about it, if you know the answer or better yet, know where the thread/post is that answers the question, provide a link, it will keep the new thread short and unused as the person can go to the proper thread. I agree that people should search before posting questions and search for longer than 2 minutes, but not everyone has time to search for hours for the answer to a question. My rule is, search for at a minimum of 15 minutes before asking a question, longer is better if you are finding related info and a little more digging will help. No amount of forum rules or bannings will prevent a forum from filling up and eventually becoming a "mess", merely slow the process at best.

Its best not to argue on forums, friendly disagreements are fine. Most of the time, arguing on a forum is like arguing with a wall. Best to keep posts related to the subject matter, in this case Android related. Who cares if he likes the smoke and his first post is for a theme about it, he asked a question related to the subject of the forum.
I don't think someone should be banned or deleted just for posting in the wrong place or asking a question that a simple search would answer. However, if they make a habit of it and do it many times in a short time, a warning followed by a temp ban may be all that is needed. Of course a perma ban may be needed for repeat offenders.
This thread is off the general topic of the forum and he has said his piece and apologies, we can close this thread and move on now. No need for any more bashing or hard feelings and further craziness.

Ya no kidding, its personal liberty if you want to take a shot of tequila, smoke a cigarette or hit a bong load you should have the right to do so. I have lived in 3 different countries and many states, I own a condo in downtown San Diego at the age of 25, and Im even the HOA president of the building. My lifetime resume goes on and on and on from Dive Master in Hawaii to acquiring my pilots license.
I have done all these things while smoking weed everyday of my life since I was 17. Granted Im not the average stoner but I dont think Im any more rare than the non-stoner that doesnt do anything with their life.
I have a hereditary condition that I have been prescribed marijuana for, without it I would live a much less productive life overcome by pain and nausea.

If anyone asks a question in the general section, he gets chewed up and spat out in a loogie. Then trolled and insulted in how much of a idiot he/she/it is. If someone says a question about what rom to use, he gets banned for not searching with the broken search button in which almost 99.999% of the time comes out a no results. What's with you people? Is mah screaming to get out the basement?

Well, I usually avoid the Q&A section lol, so I don't really see the rude comments people are making. And, to make a point a point with the OP, I'm literally 14 (yeah, I know. What's a 14 year old doing on a site like this and hacking?), but my point is, I know better than to be rude toward others for asking dumb questions. Sure some are absurd, but really? Almost everyone who is new to this site might not understand some things, and asking questions is usually how people feel is the best way to get help. I'm not saying that they shouldn't do a LITTLE research before they ask questions, but it happens.

Well, being a teenager, I can say that our generation sucks . It's just a thing with a lot of kids that feel it is necessary to lower another's self-esteem to, you know, make themselves feel better. Or...they're just trolling. That's the internet, though. Kids are kids, obnoxious as ever. And I admit, I watched an interview of her with ABC talking about all the hate she's getting, and I respect her for being so calm about it. Even if she is bad, at least she tried her best, and in the end, she's the one who's making all the money.

Who knows why, but this isn't the first forum to degenerate this way. Usually it takes a lot of careful moderating to get it back in line. Heavy moderating tends to kill the golden goose.

Complaining about the trolls here makes you no better than them (well, depends how much you're complaining). I'm sure we can do something about it, but an approach so blunt like in the OP might be worded incorrectly, even though it's 100% true.

Remember how in High School or College you would have to DO YOUR RESEARCH to find your information before turning it in to your teacher or professor?...So far in the past 12 months this XDA School Research Skill and Overall GPA has dropped. In this SGSII class of the school, we are bringing our GPA up, and now we are on a level thats "considered passing". I was a new student in this class about 2 weeks ago and everyone made me feel like I was at home, but the rest of the school im not to sure about. XDA school was the one everyone went to about everything Android. Now since the teachers and students are slowly turning in degrees, we are loosing a lot of our students and teachers to other schools. We cannot let this happen because this is where it all started. We have to start gaining the quality of our school back, our prestige is dropping.
So lets get started...
Instead of teachers having to spend extra time assisting students, students should learn to RESEARCH and Experiment on their own time. Teachers only volunteer at this school. No paychecks, pensions, workman's compensation, just breaks and retiremen. Teachers should help students more and explain things more in a detailed fashion. XDA School is changing so we have to change with it. Dont fight it, go with the flow and make it work for everyone. There has to be a line to draw in the middle, where students can help one another, troubleshoot, and have fun with the teachers. Im a teacher myself and comming up with lesson plans that will hold everyone in the class over until I write a new one is not easy. Sleep is lost, donations are good, but overall not good enough to deal with the stress in our personal lives because we all go through it. Competition is always present but thats no excuse for teachers to critique other teachers. We may not be together in reality but we are a community, so lets act like it.

I just thought it more people were aware of the issues we would be able to fix them together. Ill just have the principle close the class down if students and or teachers start to bring it down.

I miss people being go getters and trying to learn stuff themselves. I think everyone is willing to help a noob but only if they are willing to help themselves. That's what we have a lack of, people trying to help themselves.

The worse part about it is, the quality of the issues people report in threads. Most of the time they are "non issue issues" Meaning its not a bug in the ROM just a problem that they are having.
They will post their problem and hope for someone to get a fix for them and get upset when people flame them. The people who can fix the problem have no right to flame either. Fighting fire with fire has become way to common here. The people dont say things like "I looked online in such and such place but i dont understand what its telling me, or this method is outdated any updates on it", nothing like that, that shows they were putting fourth an effort in the first place. It was such a joy for me to research and learn because it led me to create ROMs and themes. I felt a lot better when I figured out how to fix my own problems and it made me a better Rooted android user.
I think te problem is "free stuff" attracts those type of people. Google has done a great thing with the open source stuff. I wish there was a system in place that encouraged organized companies to produce ROMs, granite that means those roms would be pay only and the current system doesn't work with it. You can choose to stick with the stock touchwiz rom OR you could pay to run aosp made by company X or you could download a free rom made by thursday. How much has this community donated to various devs in "hopes" they dev something good?
Android has blown up recently and people like to customize their phone. Old days of only tech geeks using roms are gone. People need answers fed to them. If they paid money for a rom they should be entitled to those answers given to them.

I was here from the start with the G1, granted out was a few months after the release, buy nonetheless I did my own research asked questions when I was TRULY stuck and solved my own problems by searching the threads/forums. People come in here (XDA) and "flame" one another for asking a question and folks that come in here creating threads and posts REPEATEDLY about the same topic. It honestly needs to be stopped and monitored more closely because all it does is clutter threads and makes it difficult for those trying to do it on their own.

I haven't been here as long as most but since I joined when I purchased my evo it went from thank you to gimme gimme. Not to mention the flame fests,including entire threads filled with pics about the ensuing flame fest. Infractions should start being issued a lot more frequently and even to the point of issuing them to the members who post nothing questions over and over again and get in a tiff when they don't get an answer for "why is my phone crashing after I didn't wipe from cm7 to sense"anyways just wish it would go back to respect and appreciation.

as ridiculous as it seems, Maybe their should be an entire thread dedicated to a Roms "Issues" - I know creating another thread means another one to view, but jesus think about how many times a market error question could be answered by the title of a thread there and the amount of pages it would save on any given rom. I know this is literally bending to the will of noobs who won't research, but if you can't teach them, at least try to confine them

Its an inside joke (a good one too) based on the amount of bounty threads he does and how quick he is to start them.
Reading this thread bummed me out. I'm somewhat new to all of this, and in the last couple of months have learned an INSANE amount about the android OS and how to make it "mine". I would have never been able to do so without the much appreciated help of all the knowledgeable people here on XDA. Yes, I agree, there are a crazy amount of duplicate posts, and pricks, and mindless idiots who for some reason have no issue posting a bash on a hard working dev for no apparent reason (f#& k those morons). Here is my question. What do you think of someone like me, who asks questions when he is stuck, and probably will continue to do so whenever he is hopelessly stuck, but always shows appreciation for valuable help received? There seem to be plenty of people here who enjoy helping noobs like me. I've helped a few, and it felt pretty good.

Hi guys, thought i would intoduce myself (even though ive been here about a week).
First off I'm in the US military im a redleg to be exact (field artillery) and have since about 2008, I'm married and have 3 kids. And also Im an asshole by nature, its nothing personal toward anybody ...as some of you may already know(and if im an asshole or offend anyone send me a pm and i will apologize).
On that same note I really not one for really caring much for what people think about me (including the guy right now reading this saying wow what a douche...lol) gets you farther in life and I am here to impress no one. With that being said I'm here to help out as much as i can (used to do some mild theming but its been a while) and soak in the knowledge and great roms the devs put out.
A little bit about my phone history...
I started with my first android which was a behold 2(sold), then i ended up with a mytouch(sold), then my reacent sgs4g (stolen), g2x (sold), and here i am with the GS2. in case you are wondering...i have a very short attention span when it comes to phones, im digging the gs2 though and think im sticking around for a while.
