XNA is your answer
A very good start is to watch this (in total 14.5 hours of essential info and it is also funny and easy to follow):
http://create.msdn.com/en-US/education/catalog/article/wp7_jump_start
It is much faster than any book, and then you have a plenty resources to find answers for coding etc...http://create.msdn.com/en-US/
I hope this helps.

Q what do i need to create a 3d game
I want to learn the C# language but I cant find any up to date tutorials. Most use this progrm that no longer exists. Also How can I use Visual Studio to learn to do C# w/o having to make a game?

A 3D capable Windows Phone would be a good start.

Call To ALL Developers!!!!

Hello, Xda-developers....
I have been looking for interesting games for my Touch HD and Touch Pro and have sadly not been impressed by all of them... There have been some that stand out in my eyes, but not alot. So my plan is to create a group of developers to join in and make a series of great games for our Touch HD and (Touch Pro and Diamond). If anyone would like to help me in this process please do message me or post a reply... I have great graphic skills... but do not know much about developing windows mobile.
I have come up with a quick (outline of what some of the games will be) The shot is posted below...
again please contact me if you are interested in helping..
Current Developers:
*Me
I could be tempted to write either a TIME PILOT clone or a PINBALL game in either PPL (very easy) or C# if someone wanted to collaborate on graphics and Game play

There should be many games if we have VGA games emulator => WVGA fix (which already exist) which uses those 160x480 pixels as a virtual dpad like this
http://upload.csrune.com/files/dpadsip669.PNG
. So if you are really able to make some new game, then maybe you can this ? Because if you can, it would be much more usefull than one new game. With this, we can play loads of VGA games which needs dpad.
my hole point is to make a game specifically for the HD... which uses only hd functions so it can be fully optimized....
arent there any developers interested???

Baldur's Gate, IceWind Dale, Planescape:Torment on Pocket PC

"GemRB (Game engine made with preRendered Background) is a portable open-source implementation of Bioware's Infinity Engine which was written to support pseudo-3D role playing games based on the Dungeons & Dragons ruleset. It should run on GNU/Linux, Microsoft Windows, OS X and possibly other UNIX derivatives. It is licensed under the GPL. " (http://linux.prinas.si/gemrb/doku.php)
Who can port this wondeful program to WM? I will tester )

yes. I play it on linux on pc now, it runs stable and fast...
wow! please some one make this work! i'll be a tester too! i love baldurs gate and if i can play it on my hermes it will be amazing!
hey! developers! nobody loves BG&PST? (
Great ideas Guys hope they post this soon while am waiting al just play Doom 1,2, TNT etc. and Dukenuken 3D on my WM cant wait for this lol
Seems to me it would be an easy job, as all you would need to do is have the proper dependencies. http://forums.gibberlings3.net/index.php?showtopic=16785
This forum has a post about it, with a link to installation instructions. I don't have time to hassle with it now, but looks like you need a few libs installed and thats it. If anyone wants to try gof or it! Seems like all we would need is a CAB to install dependencies, and that youtube vid was a year ago, I am sure there is a way now.
Baldur's Gate would be the best and looks like the entire focus of the development. Problem would be that it would be VGA only. I don't see this working on a qvga screen. The original game was 480x640 with BG2 being able to play at VGA or higher.
well, i searched for a version of gemrb for ppc but found nothing on google... if any of the developers could create one it would be great! i really want to play baldurs gate on my hermes!
Oh man this would be awesome on my Touch HD. Good find! Now hopefully the gurus around here will take a look and get it working.
The last (and only) time I tried to port a python game to Windows Mobile, I was stuck at getting pygame to run. This seems to have less dependencies so might be easier.
I love the 2D series of RPGs but GemRB is nowhere near complete yet.
Well am not a programming guru but you Guys keep saying that its easy to port thats Good but can you tell us if your porting right now and we should wait for it to get completed or no body started yet I really wish I can help but again am not a programer al leave this to the pros
wow, this would be AWESOME if someone could get it to work!
If someone wants to try porting, here is a post with links to WinCE versions of the required libraries. I haven't tried any of them and the link is in Russian.
... made by the original poster, no less
because i am not a programer, if you csn tell me what to do, i am will to try my self... and where to find the games?
The games? You have to buy and prepare them for GemRB yourself. There was some discussion of fanmade games for GemRB but it is a lot of work.
Porting such a program is not a trivial task and is impossible for a non programmer.
yes, i am sorry, i figure it out about the games after that post... it's good then i have all the series of bg and IWD in my home... so, if i can not do anything because i am not a programer, as i said before i am willing to beta test so please, anyone can make it happend?
anyone?
I want this to happen! There's gotta be somone out there who can do it!
This would...
This would change my life! (well my free time)
FOR EVER! (for at least 2 weeks until I complete it again.)
I have such warm fuzzy memories of this game. Imoen the theif girl who I am sure I managed to pull.....
Hours and hours of clicking frenzy.
Never Winter nights 2 just never grabbed me in the same way that these old games did.
I really hope that this can be done. I am unable to sit in front of my PC and replay this as I have so many things I wan to play and look at. Having this on mobile wouyld be perfect!!

Creating new Gsen games for the HD

Hey.. Since no developer here seems to be too interested in creating a few Gsen games for the HD (i got a few ideas) I would like to start develop games.. However I would need some guidance in doing this since im a complete noob.. If any developer is willing to start working on this with me (eventhough im a noob) please write here.
I know pretty much about computers and stuff and I learn quick so it might be worth a shot.
Bump,,
Im just looking for some advice anyone?
I am no developer, but would suggest you look in to visual studio and the win mo 6.1 sdk. there are a few very good tutorials on the microsoft website which should get you started.
best of luck and let me know if you manage to develop anything.
Tyvm for the advice, will look into the things listed
I'd be interested to see what you find out.
I'm doing a games design degree at the moment.
if you can make something in flash and use an extra
bit of software to translate that to WM for controls
I'd love to mod the group project we did last year to
run on my phone, it'd be fun to wind up my mate in class
with an iphone
Yeah thats what i thought about too..
I know a few games written in flash that would work very well with the Gsen. Im going to work on in later to day so ill holla back
Ehm btw what project did you do last year? ^^

you guys may want to reach out to Hekk: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=482359
His apps work on the Touch Pro (you just need to change he sensor.dll for the Touch Pro's and it works). I don't know him but I see he's been pretty active at developing gsen apps so he clearly knows his stuff.

Hello?
Is somehing happening in here?

Developing a game - whats programming language?

Okay so I've decided to start developing a game. I started with c++ tutorials but something came up in my head.. Maybe c# would be better for developing a mobile game?
If some experienced developer could tell their opinion that would be great. Just write what you think on this thread..
ehm thread name should be what programming language not whats... sounds like im retarded lol ^^
Ehh no one knows?
Have a look at the thread Development Resources
I would go for C#!
If you are going to write advanced 3d games I would recommend that you use c++ cause c# lacks pointers which is really great to have when you do advanced games.
When you get the hang of one language you will quite easy be able to transfer to the other language cause they both are C languages.
Torusy ,
all c# have is pointers ....
basicly i was thinking on developing with c# some game , but i just dont have time for that.
but i think i will start doing so in the next 2 weeks.
GL in dev , if you need help , PM
So .. C# would be recommended for developing a game? Since i'm thinking of developing games using 2d it would be the better choice? Correct me if im wrong?
Just start! Step by step. As you are just beginning programming, start with something simple (e.g. an animated ball (circle) where the direction will be reflected when it hits the screen border)
After that you can look into graphic programming (D3D or OpenGLES), it depends how graphic intensive your game will be.
Ty for the replys guys!
More opinions appreciated!

No you cant actually call them for pointers cause they are way more complex then a simple pointer. I suppose that you think about the array lists and such...
I have good experience with both c++ and c#. C# is probably abit easier to start with since they have eliminated some tricky things from c++.
No need to get in to a deep discussion of the programming languages. Both will work fine for him to develop in. Just make sure that you use framework 3.5

!!! Rosetta Stone for Windows Mobile !!!

Hello everyone, I was wondering if it is possible to have “Rosetta Stone” the language learning software running on HTC Rhodium: Touch Pro2, Tilt 2. I am currently trying to learn Tagalog spoken in the Philippines. I would be very thankful if someone can help me out on this. I am never home since I am a part time student and working full time so this would help me out greatly. If someone can help me out I would be very thankful and as a promise I will buy you a drink
I have tried converting software to convert language files (but I don’t know where to ever start)
I have searched online but majority of the post were at least 2 year old and did not help at all.
I have Rosetta stone on my PC which downloaded form torrents and it is installed but I have to use Power ISO. To mount the language CD and then study.
Also I am a noob therefore detail guide would be greatly appreciated thank you very much.
Someone please help me out!!!!!!!!
Thank you everyone in advance!!!!!!!!!!!!!
unless the company has released a mobile version of the ap.... nope. You're stuck learning on your PC or laptop.

You cant just convert an .exe to a.cab fine and pop it in the phone and have it run. You would basically have to rewrite an entire new program.
Do a GOOGLE for Rosetta Stone WM there are lots of options out there on other forums that cannot be posted on this forum

you can convert the downloaded torrent files to mp4 using "videora htc touch pro2 converter"...i have some p90x videos on my tp2...videora converts everything...lol...best of all its free...you may want to convert it while you sleep cause it can be a little slow, depending on the quality you select...
i know this isn't really what you meant but couldn't you run it through remote desktop? i think there a way to have the sound come out through the device speakers.

There is a slight problem with your solution: rosetta stone isn't videos, it's interactive software so you can't just convert it and make it smaller. I think the best solution is just to use RDC. If you tried to put language cds on your phone it would slow to a crawl if not more trying to read the large files.
Thx Everyone!!
Thank you everyone but i guss i have no option than to sit on my PC and study which is like 20 to 30 min a day . I would have been very helpfull since i spend 2 to 3 traveling each day. If anyone figus out anyway please let me know and i would be very thankfull.

Can you please tell me where I can get this ...thank you
I don't think the dude knew what he was talking about. I have been longing for a mobile version of Rosetta Stone forever.
Can't one install Linux or something on the phone and then run the app from there?
Tried a session through remote desktop, only problem is that Rosetta Stone in full-screen wasn't really full-screen, wrong aspect ratio and hence a significant part of the right screen on my phone went unused. I couldn't get speech recognition to work either. Anyone have an idea on how to enable a bluetooth microphone to send audio to the pc from the phone remotely?
adjust remote desktop setting to have it adjust the screen size tot he size fo your phone screen. you can also adjust the color quality there.
Could be. I still need to know how to map my microphone to the remote session and then have Rosetta Stone use the microphone for its own purposes.
since when does Rosetta Stone use a microphone? do you mean speakers?
since it exist!
