[ROM UPDATE 01/19/12][Deodexed][1.12.23-2.1.13 Framework][ICS] Nexus S 4G 4.0.3 - Nexus S 4G Android Development

In the interest of time I will make this quick. I ported this from MIUIScotland's 4.0.3 rom. Everything works if you flash the matrix kernel 13 or 14.5 (see below) Feedback is good.
Proceedure:
*v.1.12.23*
1. Full Wipe (format data, system, boot, cache if boot loops)
2. Flash rom (link below)
3. Flash either of the Matrix Kernels below.
4. Reboot and enjoy
*Update v.1.12.23-2.1.6*
Notes: ROM can be flashed over 1.12.23. Researching standalone flash results. For now install 1.12.36 (the original) then the update to be safe.
Full wipe if coming from anyother rom besides 1.12.23
*memory offset notice during flash is not an error notice, so disregard as normal.*
Working:
WiFi, bluetooth, voice, data, GPS, market, launcher, camera, DHCP, SU, Exchange (ActiveSync), Flash Player*
*Download the BrowserGoogle.apk>place in /system/app directory>fix permissions>enjoy
Not Working:
WiMax

Oh yeah, I am not liable for anything that happens due to this rom.
**No worries though this ROM is stable and crisp.
Includes bash-4.0.0 binary that I added as a supplement. type "bash" using any terminal emulator apk and then type help to view command and version info.

Update: Below is the ROM Update I promised to deliver.
Version: 1.12.23-2.1.6----->>>>> I have merged my orginal base rom with the 2.1.6 MIUI framework. This merge results with all features functioning as in the orginal rom, but with the added system ui color scheme of 2.1.6. Also, I have added about a dozen new binary files in the /system/bin directory that I have aquaired and or patched from the basic ARMel Linux architecture. In addition to these binary files, I included about 12 new apk in the rom to minimize my own post flash configuration process. I hope that this can save someone else a little time and frusteration too. Bonus features of the new framework are the Supermarket, Notes, YouTube, Google+, DSPManager, the original SprintTV app, the orginal Nexus 3D Gallery, and all Supermarket downloads are now fully functioning. The build number is the same to prevent the mobile data from crashing. So with out further adoo, Here tis'...

It is a aethetic error. Usually roms say "Sprint," but I did not edit the xml, so it reads that the phone is not roaming, which is the next line item in the array string.

It says everything works but does mms work??

I did not edit the boot.img or the framework, so you shouldn't have boot loop problems. Formate system, data, cache, and boot. Reflash rom and please let me kow the result for troubleshooting purposes. Thank you.

Nope, just tested all three. Check browser settings ie pop-up blocker or safe-screening type filter settings.

[ROM]|Purely AOSP|JB|Simple, Stock, Stable and Bugless

Purely AOSP is a redistribution of the Android Open Source Project code that I have lightly modified, and cleaned up enough to make as a daily driver for those people who are like myself and want a clean pure android experience. This project won't focus on adding features and mods but instead focus on stability and fixing some of the small issues left over from the AOSP project, so yes this is a CLEAN ROM my only modifications will be to make it look more polished and complete.
I barely ever use the "Google" experience so GOOGLE APPS ARE NOT INCLUDED AND NOT SUPPORTED meaning that if you flash this ROM the base is stable and very bug free and since there are a few different versions of Google Apps floating around once you flash one of them and run into an issue I CANNOT HELP OR RESOLVE the issue YOU WILL HAVE TO CONTACT THE CREATOR OF THE GAPPS package that you use or turn to the community for help, BUT GOOGLE APPS DO WORK with this ROM ........
Lastly the ROM is "pre-rooted" using SuperSU if you do not want root you can remove SuperSU by going into its settings and selecting "Full unroot" this will delete the SuperSU apk from system completely removing root.
What Works:
Everything !!!!
Whats Broke:
Nothing !!!!!
If you have an error or something pops up I ask that before you post about it please make sure that you are running the ROM as provided. I cannot troubleshoot anything that is related to using other kernels, mods, google apps, or themes.
This ROM is basically a AOSP stock build of jelly bean so there is not a need for screen shots ........
ROM: 8-5-12
http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?l68tjc6ulv9fxo2
Flashing Instructions:
1. flash rom ota zip
2. flash g-apps if desired
Always remember that XDA started out as a great place and will remain a great place as long as we are great to each other anything used in this ROM is available upon request and feel free to use this as a base rom for any other project my ROM is un-branded just give me some mention .......
WANT TO CUSTOMIZE THIS ROM READ THIS:
Like the ROM and want to add or remove anything or customize for yourself use this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=633246 DSIXDA's Kitchen. Its a great kitchen for customizing prebuilt ROMs
CREDITS:
Shabby Penguin - he was there for me when I needed some help
Team-EOS - I could be wrong but I believe they are behind the stable G-APPS Packets that everybody uses
CyanogenMod Team - I used a piece of their code for my "Rico" launcher project (the "no wallpaper" coding)
Chainfire - The ROM contains his SuperSU root method
Google - I used there bootanimation
AOSP - of course for the base this project is based off of

I'm not getting any of that here. So far everything seems to be working.
This is the first JB ROM I've tried so far. The only negative I've noticed is that the ringer and notification volumes are really low even when maxed out.

[CLOSED] Beta Android 4.3 US & CAN | Deodex & Odex | Now Rooted

READ THIS ENTIRE POST PLEASE
PLEASE PROCEED TO USE THE 4.3 VERSION LOCATED Android 4.3 JWR66V
UPDATED ROM IS MUCH MORE STABLE AND BATTERY LIFE IS GREAT.
Thanks to everyone for testing/using this one until now
This ROM comes from I9505 variant.
Luckily the only thing you will need to do is apply Loki patch if you require it for other ROMS.
If you are a CAN variant you can simply install the ROM with no other issues or steps.
IMPORTANT
User reports suggest that battery life is much better as well as working google wallet in the odex version, root should work for both.
Google Play 4.1.10 : Please manually update Google Play to prevent gps/maps battery drain, download apk and install as usual
There are two FactoryKeystring.apk's included and actively used by Android System, one is hidden and one is in System/app, removing one seems to improve battery life (must have root)
Do NOT change Dpi you will loose root and you will loose wifi. You have been warned.
WARNING
As always, i'm not responsible for your phone blowing up or bricking. Hell this is completely pre-release software that Google hasn't even published yet so you better be sure you're ready to take the plunge and accept that anything can happen and i assume no responsibility. this is all your choice.

WHATS DIFFERENT IN 4.3 FROM 4.2.2?
- Roboto font has been cleaned up see here
- "android.hardware.bluetooth_le" listed as a feature in the Android System Info app, suggesting Bluetooth Low Energy support is on-board in Android 4.3. This feature isn't listed on the Google edition GS4 review unit running Android 4.2.2
- Bluetooth tethering is present in the 4.3 ROM, while it's absent (bizarrely) in the 4.2.2-based GS4 GE unit.
- A new checkbox under Advanced Wifi settings allows Google's location service to scan for Wifi networks even when Wifi is turned off and not being used for wireless networking (likely part of Google's new approach to battery-friendly location services)
- Multiple options under "Monitoring > Profile GPU Rendering," as seen in this Google I/O video.
This lets you view a graphical representation of the time taken to generate a frame, and see whether you're hitting the 60 frames per second target or not. This should help devs create more buttery apps.
- New debug options for the new non-rectangular clipping feature. This is a new graphical capability for devs in Android API level 18.
- New option to "Use experimental WebView" (this likely changes the browsing engine used to handle websites within apps, but has yet to be confirmed.
- There is now a button that lets you "Revoke USB debugging authorization." This deletes the RSA key generated for USB debugging authorization from the phone itself, previously you had to do this from the computer side.
- Pressing menu in the phone app, lets you now add two-second pauses in your dialing string (denoted by a comma) or longer waits (denoted by a semicolon.)
- In the Settings of the phone app, you can now enable dial-pad autocomplete and change DTMF (dual-tone, multi-frequency) tone lengths.
- Of course there's the new camera app.
- Long, multi-word SSID names now wrap properly down to a second line in the quick-settings pulldown.
- When you take a screenshot and share it via email, the Subject field is automatically populated with the date and time of the shot.

Is it deodexed?
EDIT: Seems to be 1,2gb now

Thanks!

Yes deodexed. I will make list later, just busy now. Everything but for LG Music, LG Video and LG Video editor have been removed and all Google Apps that can be downloaded through the Play store have been removed.
So 210 downloads and I heard back from one person that everything is running smooth.
Any more feedback? I guess I can remove the annoying message in first post

[4.4] KitKat ART discussion thread

Hello,
Following @Nebucatnetzer idea (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=47328274&postcount=1283), I decided to create a new thread dedicated to ART talking.
ART is not even finished by Google : all the ART discussion in 4.4 custom ROMs thread for our GNex clutters the threads with the same question every page. It results in messy threads which do not help anyone who wants to see the status, updates, or wants to post bugreports about the KitKat ROMs !
Small reminder out there : KitKat isn't even fully working on our phone, so it is quite early to mess up with ART, just my opinion So I'll hope everyone will talk about ART here as it concerns all the 4.4 ROMs out there.
What is ART ?
ART, Android RunTime, is a new runtime which has been introduced in Android 4.4.
It has been said that it improves the smoothness of the phone, but ATM it's more of a placebo effect (listen to this please, very interesting : Android Central : five minutes about ART podcast)
How to enable ART ?
Important, as Android devs said : Dalvik must remain the default runtime or you risk breaking your Android implementations and third-party applications.
(source : https://source.android.com/devices/tech/dalvik/art.html)
Go to Settings, then Developer Options, then Select runtime and select "Use ART"
BEWARE : Use odexed gapps (from AOSPA) otherwise you'll have nonstop FC and a really hard time reselecting Dalvik !
Here's a download link :AOSPA Odexed 4.4 Gapps
After selecting ART, your phone will rebuild is cache as usual, but don't worry if it takes a long moment, 20-30mins as some people reported.
If there's any other information we should add to this OP, I'll do it So, please use this magnificient thread to centralize all the ART talk :good:
Cheers !

Neither does Titanium Backup. I still get FC on Google keyboard, Google one and some init even with odex gapps. Each reboot there's 16 apps that need to be rebuilt each time. Really sucks.
Has anybody noticed some speed improvements?

Don't think so. I think the system does it when selecting ART and rebooting. That's why cache rebuilding takes a longer time.
But I'm not sure at all.

ART
I tried switching to ART last night.
I used Grarak's and ODEXED PA GApps.
After switching to ART, the phone prompted a reboot so I plugged my phone preparing fie a logcat.
When the Google logo appeared I started the logcat.
I noticed 1 error from the very beginning. It's looking for something and it didn't seem to find it.
Then on the process of optimizing the apps, there is one persistent warning.
It says it didn't find "ELF Magic".
What is ELF Magic ?
i was just thinking, with a fully stock odexed rom, all of the system apps and some frameworks are odexed. so when we are currently using art its only affecting the gapps and nothing else so technically we are not fully using art to its best ability and getting the full effect am i right ? i know its experimental but having the gapps only running with the art runtime is very minimal. i dived around root explorer and i noticed that the priv-app files still contained odex files and not oat showing that the compiler only works on system apps, idk im just babbling on sharing some thoughts haha anyways i would love to try it on a full rom scale some time hope ya guys understand what im trying to say here

ELF file is a kind of executable file used by some Unix-like systems, similar to exe on Windows. The header of the file contains a sequence, called the magic number, which the system will check to make sure it's the right format. If not found, that means it's not an ELF. Search "ELF magic number" for more info.

Obviously it's magic from an Elf! See if you can capture one of the Keebler elves and have them use their magic on your phone!
On a more serious note:
In computing, the Executable and Linkable Format (ELF, formerly called Extensible Linking Format) is a common standard file format for executables, object code, shared libraries, and core dumps. First published in the System V Application Binary Interface specification,[1] and later in the Tool Interface Standard,[2] it was quickly accepted among different vendors of Unix systems. In 1999 it was chosen as the standard binary file format for Unix and Unix-like systems on x86 by the 86open project.
ELF is flexible and extensible by design, and it is not bound to any particular processor or architecture. This has allowed it to be adopted by many different operating systems on many different platforms.

Hey guys, I just found this video about ART vs. Dalvik. Okay, it is on Nexus 7 (2013), but I guess the weaker OMAP4460 can see some benefits once we have a more-or-less stable build.
Okay, the video only appears for 1 second here, so here is the link: http://youtu.be/xgnZbdO4NV0

THANK YOU
So I am odexed. Any idea how I can be deodexed?
Edit : never mind. There is an option when installing the rom.
The spark is always there, but the lte disappears and reappears.
Installed and it indeed fixed the issues. But my signal strength is awful now. Any insight on this or possible fixes?

What a shame ART is required. Xposed is a must for me.
Actually nm i double checked and ita the signal icon that is bugged. It no longer looks stock either.

Keep in mind that this is the first public release.
I plan to release a davlik-compatible version later today.
Odex-compatible versions should be out by later this week.
I have observed the signal problems and they are not related to the icon changes. I will create an uninstaller, but keep in mind that it will also come with a new installer that backs up the files.
Testers needed! Please PM me for details.

Is this recommend for everyone, or just the individual? Thank you again for making this..
Thank you all for the great support!
v109 will be released around 4:30. It will contain bugfixes only.
v110 will be released this evening. It should support Dalvik and odexed ROMs.
You may use the fixed (B1001) tweak.prop from my earlier post, but I advise waiting for v109 or v110.
UPDATE: v109 has been released! Unfortunately, v110 is still in testing and will be released tomorrow :crying:.
Please use v109 instead of tweak.prop-B1001.
Please flash part1 and part2 for all releases unless otherwise stated (this may happen with beta releases).
I could live with the other issues but the one i couldn't live with is no Data Roaming. There's a particular stretch in my commute that i data roam on Verizon religiously. My phone would not data roam no matter what. I would get the roaming triangle for voice indicated and would wait and wait and wait for data but nothing. Went back to stock ROM and i data roam just fine.
Does this fix this issue?
Any chance there is a way to update prl built in here too?

Update : After installing, I get signal issues. Mobile Data is still greyed (Although I can toggle using quick toggle) and Roaming Indicator off is still visible on lockscreen
Is this still under development ?
