Cdma battery alternative *confirmed* - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

So, we all know the CDMA GNEX takes a beating with LTE. but its worth it.
I always stock up on the batteries. did so on every nexus, with wall chargers, never used my usb, very great hot swapping.
Welllll.......my brother who has a TMOBILE GALAXY S 2 was charging his phone one day and i popped open the battery just so see the battery size comparison, it was insanely similar.
So i put the Gnex battery in the battery charger he has. SUCCESS....charges it.
Then i put HIS battery in my Gnex (sounds gross)
IT WORKS!
so this can be a great add on in terms of purchasing... IT HAS AN NFC CHIP IN IT GUYS..and I CONFIRMED IT WORKS. used my gnex with my gf nexus s and beamed one another.
here is one great! package...charger and battery (1850mah)
http://www.amazon.com/Samsung-CGPK004GSTA-T-Mobile-SGH-T989-Battery/dp/B005LBEIEW/ref=cm_cr_pr_pb_t

You can get the exact same charger thats made for the Nexus which also includes a standard OEM battery for like $30. I got 2 for 28 each at smartphonepedia.

Not sure why this is a big deal? The only batteries you'll be able to use are ones that are the same size as the Galaxy Nexus' default battery, because anything larger will require a larger back cover... which you wouldn't get with it.

Not true. The 2100 mAh extended battery does come with a different cover, but the old one can still be used.

I ordered the GSM version so I'm good.

Ugh jack ass...they fit. So your 'i don't know why this is a big deal quote, is absolutely idiotic
As I said. I tried it. It works. Same size and everything.

Fact is. This IS good news as the demand for the sg2 will come down faster than the gnex.
I did the same for the nexus s buying batteries for an older Samsung phone...for $9. With the help of a user from xda last year

Galaxy Nexus battery;
3.7V - 6.85Wh
Galaxy S II battery;
3.7V 6.66Wh (or 6.11Wh , depending on battery)
so yes it'll work, just since the 'Wh(Watt-hour)' is slightly less, it'll die.. well, "slightly" faster.
if you're going to bother doing that though how about try this battery out:

and I'm a jackass why?
I'm simply pointing out that this isn't a big deal because batteries made specifically for the Galaxy Nexus LTE are readily available... its not like they're not and the only way to get extra batteries is to use a SGSII version. And anything higher capacity (for example a 3500mAh version) would require a specialized back plate for the Galaxy Nexus anyways. So having a SGSII battery with no back plate is useless.
If you're buying authentic Samsung batteries either way (SGSII or GN) you're hardly saving money. Just buy the real GN battery...

i personally can't justify buying a so-called 'extended battery' that's only 250mAh more then the stock. i'm used to extended batteries being nearly double that of stock(and what i expect from one). it's not about money though as when i had my thunderbolt i bought the mugen 4500mAh battery for it and that thing was nearly $120 at the time.
for now i'm holding off until a proper extended comes out and in the meantime, if i'm running low on juice i have this portable battery pack to plug in to it:

That isn't an extended battery, just a official replacement battery at a decent price (like the OP was looking for).

This belongs in the accessories forum. The name calling belongs nowhere.

Is that what you bought?
Yeh this seems way to good to be true. 2x 1800mAh batteries and the all important battery charger as its hard to charge both batteries with one phone.
But the pricer is really putting me off. Guessing no one has tried them yet????
Really tempted. Are these non-official batteries safe to use with the SGS2?
Hmm it looks too good to be true. I am tempted to get it though.
I just bought something like that. 2 batteries and a charger. I bought it for the charger, as I expect the batteries will be 1.000mAh max. Will buy a genuine battery when they appear someplace trustworthy.
I bought mine on....
Well from www.spider-foot.com they're very cheap and you get 3x screenprotectors for free. I think they are 1650mAh btw!
I just spent $800 on a phone, I'm not going to put some $10 Chinese battery in it so it can explode or melt - I'll just keep looking/waiting...
Search for EB-F1A2GBU and you'll find some genuine batts for 22 to 30E
That said i'd prefer having a batt + batt charger like the chinese sell, cause swapping batt to charge isnt fun, going to test it. For 8Eur, at least, the charger should be fine.. i hope

I purchased the same 1800mAh battery from ebay and exploding or melting is very unlikely as even the cheap aftermarket batteries manufactured in China have an integrated chip preventing overcharging or exploding.
On the other hand the 1800mAh are nothing but an exaggeration because the real capacity is around 1000mAH meaning its just an emergency solution if you should run out of your main battery while on the go rather than a real replacement for the original battery.

Clearly the writing on the outside of these batteries are lies, since they do not last as long as they should.
However, for the cheap price - it does supply you with those extra critical hours you might need.
Also, the charger is very handy and also works with the stock battery! (hopefully does no harm!)

NFC is unavailable for all third party batteries as far as I'm aware
Unless the third-party in question chooses to equip their batteries with a suitable aerial.
As this is the first thread I'm aware of featuring this particular brand of battery, it's worth asking.
can u tell us if the 2050mah worths the stock battery or if its better?
Nice Find! Ordered, seems like our phone might finally function as a replacement for a handheld GPS (Garmin, Magellan etc...)
I would love to hear your thoughts on the 2050mAh battery. It seems like a lot of these aftermarket batteries don't do any better than the stock battery even with the higher charge capacity.

it's running quite well. I'm getting around 20% power left on a full day of internet / chatting / a family guy and simpsons video / 30 mins tethering. This thing is a beast compare to the original battery!
such things are REALLY ugly. But I understand why we need it.
So the question is, why there can't be something as slim as Razr MAXX's 3300mah battery? ...
In the past I thought it is technological impossible to produce the slim extended battery like Maxx's, until I see how Razr Maxx works.
It is thicker than Original Razr, but it is so much better in design with giant battery.

The verizon battery comes with a new cover that will fit the battery. But you're saying the actual width/height of the battery is different and won't fit in the slot?
Does it make a significant difference? I have the stock battery and I am usually plugged into an outlet for some of the day, but I run full brightness and Juice defender and have NO problems getting through the day. Although I would like to feel like I dont have to be tethered to a wire all day.
I too am mulling over buying the "extended" battery. Even though I'm not far from a USB charger in my daily routine.
25 dollars isn't that much money, but it's pretty pathetic when you only get an extra what? 300mAh? Something like an extra 16% capacity.
From what I have seen the extended battery and door don't really add any significant weight or thickness to the phone (which is good) but it really makes you wonder why they didn't just make the "extended" the stock battery if it adds no significant weight or thickness.
I came from my Sprint Evo with the official sprint extended battery, and to be honest I'm enjoying the "thinness" of my Nexus without the double width action going on.
I might stop by the sprint store today and pick one up after work, ONLY because I really want to get my inductive charging mod completed today. It's kind of pointless to mod the stock battery door and all that junk only to have to do it again for the extended back cover.
Granted my Nexus only cost me 9 dollars after trading in my Evo4G, after a Rearth case, Zagg film, and touchstone materials I gotta start watching how much I spend if I throw an extended battery in the mix.
Seems I'm an accessory whore
I somehow lost my extended battery while on vacation and have to buy a new one.... I'm hoping it is still $25.... but when I pull it up it now says for me it is only 25% off making it $37... Could be because there is a corporate discount on my account. Anyone know if it still is $25, or am I just a couple days too late :-(
